[Spoilers] Shamy: Season 10

Recommended Posts

I'm happy*in the new episode, the shamy bed scene is cute, just the way they are.   sheldon didn't tell Amy he has already been able to drive alone.that was,erm ,,selfish, but it is selfishness  in "sheldon style"  . in fact, sheldon regards driving him as kind of an honor to other people.so this part I can take it. Sheldon has many secrets he shared the one involved Amy. I was a little surprised that sheldon got the licence, but it's also normal he got it because we know Amy taught him before:icon_biggrin:.

overall,I love shamy scenes in this episode, especially the bed scene.  and the zones of privacy joke is hilarious and blushing.. and the lines "are they naughty""a little"  aww,my!    I let  go concerning the once a year coitus, figuring it out by myself.because, anyway,it doesn't matter.

TBH, I found last week episode much funnier than this one, the cold open was ok, it reminded me a S. 1 cold open, but generally speaking I didn't laugh that much. The Shamy part was good, even if the writers went in pretty heavy (too heavy, if you ask me) with "oblivious" Sheldon all the episode, and not just about the privacy issue with Amy.  The chart with the privacy zones was tender, Sheldon was really trying to make it work and to understand Amy's PoV on things. I also liked that she appreciated that and realized that for him it's not the easiest thing to do. Amy asking Sheldon to tell her one if his "naughty" secrets was cute, they seemed two teenagers in that one. Anyway, when she learnt she had to accompany him everywhere (last but not least at the train museum last week) for no reason since he can drive by himself, she was rightfully upset. I hope we can have an episode soon when Sheldon drives her around.

Now...as for the promo of the next episode. I should be excited about it, but actually I'm not. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt...I don't want to judge the scene before I've watched all of it (it was edited, I guess) but, based on what's in the promo, how many times there have to be jokes where Sheldon teases Amy and at some point a cold shower (on her and on the fans) arrives? As I have said many times, I have no problem with the once a year thing, in this very episode Amy didn't even mentioned it as the reason of the fight, the problem was just the gossiping. But I'm not ok in being reminded about it in every episode, without  the writers actually do anything about it. I'm not obsessed about how many times a year Shamy have sex, I don't get why they are.

ETA: Oh, I almost forgot...Since we are listing things that were in Sheldon's or Amy's apartment and now are in 4B, the skull that was on Sheldon's desk was near the window in this episode...

Pretty same here, imo last week was funnier and the other plotline seemed classic tbbt from first seasons, as the cold open had science and group interaction, which I enjoyed. Shamy scenes were cute but I also thought the "oblivious" Sheldon seemed a bit too much at this time of the narrative, as he had shown he has been matturing about some things and in this episode there were moments he seemed to have taken a few steps backward. The bedroom scene was lovely as Sheldon was aware he screwed up about the intimate details of him and Amy, the apologies were felt by him. The naughty things were sweet  and that scheme board was very sheldon esque, loved Amy's look at it while he explained and apologized. However, imo it missed a hug, a hand holding or something more close as she apologized Sheldon. Some scenes seemed to have been written in a rush, maybe I am in minority about this but as I am always honest about my posts, this is how I felt about this particular shamy scene.

The scene in cafeteria, I would rather we could have seen a more deep talk between shamy about the consequences of that kind of gossip. I mean, until now I have not had much the feeling Amy could feel a bit frustrated about the once in year arrangement. After this episode, as the writers chosen to not deep that, I am a bit worried, tbh. Hope we be able soon to see a talk between shamy about their sexual life but I think writers have more fun to tease us and use old jokes than take evolution on that. But as the show was renewed, maybe some things would be dragged , even we would not like much they were but well.

About the promo of next week, I am with @mirs1 about this. I didnt think it was very funny. .I don't want to judge the scene before I've watched either but I didnt enjoy Sheldon was aware he could tease Amy with sex for he got what he wanted, but in reality as he said in a mock tone that upset me in last night episode, they barely have a sexual life together. I really hope the whole scene to seem much better on screen and also this bittersweet taste I have on my mouth this morning about some shamy scenes may disapear really soon. Sorry for not be so positive but I had to take this out of my chest. After all, this thread has also a supportive side, right? :)

Wasn't one of my favorite episodes of the season but it wasn't the absolute worst one either.

Best way to sum it up is to echo what others have said before me, that you saw a bit of the worst 'old school' Sheldon but then also the newer one in the same episode. We have had episodes in the past when Sheldon has had a 'step back', I wouldn't say this was exactly like those past ones as with the whiteboard and their discussion at the end, the apology and then trying to diffuse the situation in the Caltech Cafeteria he clearly knew he fucked up and tried to take an active approach to fix it.

Amy had a right to be mega pissed off and I can't defend Sheldon here whatsoever. We got the impression he knew he fucked up and hopefully this is another life learning lesson for him, that some things need to remain private.

I enjoyed seeing them go out for a meal and liked the way they were dressed for the occasion. Having them reminisce fondly about their first date was nice to see and Amy giving him encouragement and praise for trying to be a friend to Bert when he invited him over was a nice moment.

I could vent a paragraph or two about the gag that Sheldon made about their sex life, wow writers why did you do that! Only going to say I didn't like it AT ALL.

The driving license reveal will inevitably be used as a way to crush his character, I am sure the general audience with no bias for or especially against will have enjoyed that one. I wasn't really a fan of it.

Overall a mixed bag really.

The promo? I dunno really, kind of getting sick of sexual innuendos with no actual pay off or end result. I think they just add to this growing consensus that they need to move this sex life thing forward, but if the casual audience absolutely love these gags and they are the ones who keep this show on air then that's not going to stop is it? Ah well.

You know, when the spoiler about Sheldon getting his license came out, I thought it was one of the signs the show was about to end. What's Sheldon, if he can drive? The fact he wasn't able to do so was one of his major characteristics...Luckily, I was wrong, and we know that there will be another couple of seasons where we can see how improved he is as a driver. Anyway, of course it's not a good thing that, despite his license, he has took advantage for such a long time of his friends and beloved ones just because he likes to be chauffeured around. In his defense, anyway, I will present my own personal experience. I got my license  but I simply can't drive...seriously, I'm a public danger in a car. For this reason I've never driven and my friends and beloved ones have to drive me around to these days. I'd like to see if that's the case with Sheldon, I hope we get an episode about that!

I can't drive either and I don't have a license.

I do get what you are saying, I don't have a huge problem with what Sheldon has done I kind of expected it. I mean he has always struck me as the type that if he had a license he still wouldn't necessarily start driving. I'll be interested to see where they go with it, I expect Amy will still end up driving him around. Some people just aren't driver people anyway, more common than you think that some people do get their license but don't drive frequently or at all.

Good thing is if there is a emergency he can now use a car.

People that don't like Sheldon, correction people that hate his character I would imagine will be all over the fact that Sheldon has been able to drive for two years and doesn't because he likes people driving him around in a lording over them kind of way. Even I think that is actually a good example of his selfishness at times, Amy's reaction said it all.

Difference is I don't hate Sheldon, I know he has some flaws and moments. This is one of them, but for others this is just more ammunition for their agenda. As soon as I heard about this gag from the TR I knew I wouldn't like it because I was going to be worried about the response to it, so far it's actually quite muted so maybe my fears were unfounded...

Now if I was a writer what what I now do? Simple, I would actually get Sheldon driving. Get him a car and have him drive, they could get an episode out of him buying one, testing them perhaps and then maybe taking Amy out for a romantic drive or day out or something. It would fit in with his character growth.

Why unfounded? It is your opinion and imo you made a valuable point. I have not  mentioned because I forgot but while I was glad Sheldon is able to drive now, I did not like the sheldon selfishness behind his secret about it. However  that is not anything harmfull as he feels better as he is driven. There are people with driving license that doesnt feel confortable driving.  And I am with you about  we see Sheldon driving. Maybe he could drive Amy to a nice place for they celebrate their aniversary, as it is by the end of the season usually, right? I would love to see that :)

PS: I don't have driving license because I was a kind of public danger in my driving lessons, lol. So I am glad Sheldon did it. :)

Haven't caught up with your comments properly yet, will do later but I did see some worry that the promo tag will play out as clueless Sheldon and desperate Amy.....
IMO - and obviously we need to watch the episode first - but it looked like "Sheldon the tease" knowing exactly what he was doing, flirting the kidding Amy on, he's facial expressions look like a loving boyfriend joking around with his girlfriend to "get her randy" , I could be wrong but to me it looked like harmless fun, to make Amy laugh and possibly a make out off screen....

Also team no driver's license here! My husband wants me to get one for emergencies but if I drive we'll probably die in a car crash so I don't see how that's helping anyone...

But yeah, for Shamy I would love to see an episode where Sheldon is driving her around. I don't see him getting a car on his own though.

- The whiteboard was so cute, and I love the Sheldon & Amy zone:
* Bathroom Schedule (of course)
* Love life (awww ❤)
* Genitals (LOL)
* Passwords (I'm so exciting for know that they share their passwords, that silly for me right? LOL)

I need a HD screenshot of the whole board! lol

We already knew Sheldon shares his Netflix password with Amy so it's cute to see that referenced. I wonder what other passwords? hehehe

That's why we I feel around family in the Shamy thread, we have so many things in common, apart Shamy, LOL! And I agree, that chart was gold and thanks to everybody who is telling me what was written in it, I couldn't figure out on my laptop this morning!

What's funny is that Sheldon clearly thinks about their sex life way more often than Amy does. In this episode, I found Sheldon's "we barely have one!" very interesting. Now, of course im of the opinion that it doesn't matter how often they have coitus, but this comment, as well as the tease in the promo, seem like very positive indications that the writers will be addressing this once a year thing soon. I now a lot of people here really want them to address it. (Meanwhile I'm sitting here like 'coitus, yeah yeah, but what about ENGAGEMENT? *claps hands together like an evil witch) :p

The reason I found the "we barely have one!" comment interesting is because normally Sheldon would look at how they've had sex twice and say "whoa, we're like wild animals in heat, we need to tone it down!" This is the same man who in love spell potential exclaimed that "it's been three years, we're already in bed together!"

But he clearly sees their sex life as next to nonexistent. Even if we personally view sex once a year as being capable of being more than satisfying, I don't think Sheldon himself does.  I mean, we could dive into how Sheldon told all those people not only about how he's having sex, but he obviously told them it was only happening once a year, hence how everyone found out. And before this episode I figured he was telling everyone that because he was proud and just thought the was the stud of the university, lol. But after hearing him almost yell "we barely have one!" it definitely doesn't seem like it's something he's bragging about. Rather, he himself seems wanting to do it more.

As for the promo for next week, like Susan, I took it as harmless teasing more than anything. I know people will see it as "omg! Amy wants sex and Sheldon is dangling the steak just out of her grasp!" The look on Amy's face looked like amused shock more than anything, like she couldn't believe his choice of words (join the club, sister).

But anyway, I do believe in my whole heart that this once a year coitus thing will be leading to something. And judging by Jim's recent IG, it could be very soon. But even if not next episode, I think it will happen that their annual coitus deal will be broken. Because they could be writing the story of Shamy only having sex once a year and being completely satisfied, but I don't think that is what they're going for. Sheldon, if anyone, doesn't seem satisfied. And even if Amy put the breaks on having coitus earlier this season, I really do think she would be willing to increase the frequency of their love making, judging by her fantasies. So for people who are banging their heads over this once a year thing, please take solace in that Shamy seem very much on the same page!

Why wouldn't Shamy just have sex if they both wanted? What makes them stop? Well, I think often enough just making out is probably enough for them. Seems crazy, right? But for people with low sex drives, this could very well be the case. I also think intercourse is still something Sheldon hasn't fully gotten the hang of yet. He likes it, but I think having it once a year gives him some sense of safety. This is still very new to him.

And of course, the writers love to drag these things out because it makes people tune in. For the general audience, when they hear these little seeds, like Amy getting upset over not being engaged, or everyone talking about Shamy only having sex once a year, they go "oh yeah! They're not engaged yet. They only have sex once a year. When is that gonna change?" And then they keep watching.

Anwyay, i really liked tonight's episode! But I've already written enough, so yeah. :p

I couldn't love this post more !!!

Good point. He did tell Leonard he still got his feet  mixed up so he didn't like driving.

I think you're making an excellent point here, Maddie, and thank you for taking the time to write it all down!

To add another example:

We saw Sheldon referring in 10x01 to their courtship as "remarkably slow" which, as you point out, really stands out from Sheldon's comments he would make in the past that were more along the lines of "everything is happening so fast!!!" Seeing how shortly after 10x01 things changed dramatically we might be looking at something similarly here. Or at least I hope we are.

I'm really curious about the next taping now. I didn't dare to hope that this might be *the* episode, then again it's exactly the kind of thing Jim would love to tease us about! So who knows?

Anyway, as I've said plenty of times in the past days I also think that both are ready and willing to take their physical relationship further and it might just turn out that since this is new for both of them neither wanted to make the first step. Like, Sheldon waits for Amy to say something cause she took coitus off the table when they moved in together and later stuck to her guns when he tried to seduce her, and maybe Amy waits for Sheldon to say something cause she's just so used to be patient with him or whatever. Thinking about it could be hilarious when they end up being all "Why didn't you say something!?" - "Why didn't you say something!??" LOL

Amy was annoyed at having to get up at 4 am to drive him through the desert to the train museum. However, it wasn't just the driving Sheldon wanted - he wanted her with him sleeping in the carabouse. And she did get to see him ( we hope ) in real life fulfilling her daydream. She was pretty willing to put her foot down to get there earlier. I think she should have chosen a fairer example. :)

I think they should have softened that dialogue a bit by Sheldon replying that no, she didn't have to do it but he wanted her with him - or something along those lines.

Regarding this driver's license plot:

I hate that the writers took this away from Sheldon.

I mean, for years, Sheldon has many interesting traits, some people love them, some people hate them, people are different, that's OK.

But now the writers told us Sheldon CAN drive, people who hate him now can put this in that "selfish" category,  I'm not saying I don't think he is selfish, and I indeed have mixed feelings about Sheldon sometimes, but I absolutely LOVE the trait that "he can't drive, so people have to chauffeur him around", I think this fits his character very much, not to mention we already got a very funny and classic episode evolving around this. But, just like the three knock habit(which I LOVE too by the way, and I don't care that cliche and Psychological shadow explanation AT ALL), the writers took this away as well.

I mean, I don't get it, why would the writers do this? There are NO up side in both cases,  people who hate his traits can still hate him, now with this brand new "evidence"; people who love his traits just are disappointed with all this.

Now, I still think that Sheldon is the writers' favourite character, but I'm not gonna lie,  sometimes I feel the writers just hurt him so deeply.
