Previously on my pre-S10 rewatch: [S1-3] [S4] [S5] [S6]

And now Season 7! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

7x01:
- Amy and Bernie are off to a conference. YAY science girlfriends!! :D
- Continuing with last season's mockery of Shamy's relationship of course Amy has to deal with a snide remark from Bernadette. Oh dear.
- Amy calling Sheldon her "sweet babboo" aww
- Meanwhile Sheldon opens up to Penny about the youtube change that secretly bothers him and she doesn't take it seriously. And this kind of stuff will come back a few times this season.

7x02:
- aww fun with made-up languages!
- "There's kissing in Star Trek, smarty pants!" LOL
- Amy's flirty "Hello, sailor!" haha At least they have decided early this year on a Halloween costume!

7x03:
- The scavenger hunt is just amazing from start to finish! Flawless episode is flawless! LMAO
- "TO THE NEIL MOBILE!" Amy is such a hyper cutie pie in this omg I love her so much!! <3

7x04:
- Amy effortlessly dismantling Raiders and rendering Sheldon speechless is just perfect. "Let me close that for you."
- Sheldon tries to ruin one of Amy's faves but discovers she has flawless taste LOL
- ...except of LHotP and its anachronisms.
- "spontaneous date nights" are apparently a thing now
- Anyway, I love this little lesson of dealing with conflict between them. All Sheldon experienced from his parents is to take revenge in such situations and it's hard to unlearn these behaviours with his lack of relationship experience and general social ineptitude. Communication is important and I hope the show will pick that up again at some point, especially with Amy's observations in 9x23.
- Another one on the list of "small things that upset Sheldon more than people realise"

7x05:
- Amy goes to CalTech! YAY!
- Going back to my point from S6 about how they're influenced by their friends: Sheldon has no problem with Amy working there until the guys are getting to him and talk him into what his "proper" reaction should be. ughh
- "I'm hoping to put his love of repetition to good use one day." I bet you will, Amy! lol
- Aww, Sheldon just can't stay away from his cute little lump of wool. Ignoring how cringe worthy that situation at the table must be for Amy and her colleagues, Sheldon bragging now that they're in a physical relationship is kinda adorable. "Hand-holding, hugging... even on hot days!" LOL what a dork!
- And apparently the fight with Amy left him so upset that he just had to go to her place in the middle of the night to talk to her. Awww!
- Despite the bait-and-switch I like his little "I like you, quirks and all" speech.
- "I don’t see anyone else banging on this door to put up with your nonsense." And that attitude will break your neck later, buddy! Oh boy...

7x06:
- "Americans can't handle the metric system." Can't you guys just join the rest of the world?? lol
- I love how in the end Amy is the only one to understand that Sheldon doesn't need coddling on this one. And he finds it romantic! Awww!
- The song is perfection!! <3
- Amy's daydream though! "Like mommies and daddies do!" Soon. ;D

TBBTinthezone.gif

7x07:
- Arthur meeting Amy was cute!
- I like how Amy carefully tries to help Sheldon understand why Arthur asked Leonard instead of him - but then refuses to call Sheldon "annoying". Idk, there's something sweet in that she doesn't want to hurt him like everybody else does with that word. (Later when Sheldon does the "Say it!" routine with Arthur and he says it Sheldon remarks how that hurt.)

7x08:
- This is one of those episodes that a certain subset of fans absolutely hates but I really like the exploration of the dynamic between Sheldon and Leonard in this by turning it on its head for a moment. Having grown up with a skin condition it's painful to watch though, jeez. So I definetly get that complaint.
- Anyway, this is a big one in the "small things that upset Sheldon more than people realise" theme this season and it brutally illustrates how being Sheldon is absolute hell by putting Leonard in that role - who then subsequently becomes just as obsessed as Sheldon usually is. He could have refused the wager or quit at any time but he didn't to stubbornly prove a point, just like Sheldon usually does.
- "If I take it off, Sheldon wins." - "Sweety, every night you don't kill him in his sleep, he wins." LMAO
- There's also the sub-plot of Sheldon trying to pull off the squirt flower thing and fails spectacularly at it. The guy can't pull off a scheme unless someone's willing to humour him.
- "Sheldon, that was diabolical." Yeah.
- "Do you have any idea what it's like to wait for years, and never know if you're going to finally get satisfaction?"  If looks could kill... One of the things that baffle me about Sheldon is how he remains unmurdered! LOL

7x09:
- ugh Mopey Sheldon. Kick his ass, Amy.
- Sheldon bonding with Bernie's dad is oddly sweet though. Until it gets a bit mean with them being drunk and all.
- I love how Amy is the only one who can instantly snap him out of it though.
- "Ain't she great?" aww. Still not a fan of the butt slap but whatever floats their boat...

7x11:
- The skype calls with Sheldon are so cute and funny. "I've seen things." LOL
- omg Amy's depressing birthday AU. Hang in there, girl. You'll have the best birthday ever in two years! ;D
- I love how the gang comforts Amy and tells her how much of an influence she has on Sheldon. Also, aww the screensaver... "He is so into me!" <3
- "I missed you." - "To quote Han Solo: I know." Oh Sheldon, going right with the geeky ILY2, eh!? <3

7x15:
- Relationship summit. Yeah, Amy doesn't look too thrilled. And Sheldon is terrible at picking pet names.
- Of course she made the perfect plan to get Sheldon to agree to the trip. Take note of how much he lights up when she mentions the train and he needs kolinahr to calm down the sudden urge to get physical (hint: think back to S4).
- Poor Amy (and Howardette), but Sheldon making a new friend is adorable. He's having the time of his life. Man, this guy LOVES trains. Haha.
- "Well, if you want romance, then let's have romance!" Damn, that kiss still gets me every time. *SQUEEE*

TBBTShamykiss3.gif

- And in the end kissing Amy was one of the best things that happened on this trip. Seeing how excited he was about the other things that is high praise indeed.

7x16:
- "Hey, you were funny on purpose, good job!" and the look he gives her... aww. It's the little things that warm my heart.
- The table - more little things that greatly upset Sheldon. They'll pile up towards the end of the season.
- Man, Lenny are really going all in pointing out how much Amy changed him. Unsurprising panic attack is unsurprising.
- This line though: "Sheldon, you didn't have a personality, you just had some shows you liked." LOL I felt that so often with all the characters during the early seasons when they were still some unrefined shapes of clay.
- "Amy has made me a more affectionate, open-minded person." You'll learn the hard way to appreciate that, sweetie.
- I love how Amy is effortlessly turning this around. She knows how to push his buttons and he clearly lets her. I think on some subconscious level he knows that he needs that even though he wouldn't admit to it.
- The part when she feeds him his lines is hilarious! "Dammit, I got cocky." LMAO

7x19:
- "PLEASE! PASS! THE BUTTER!" Need I say more?? This whole scene is gold!
- Date night kisses are officially a thing now! Yay!
- Sheldon being terrible at making decisions - I feel you, buddy! haha
- Love how Amy is leaning against him in exhaustion. LOL

7x20:
- Sheldon breaks up with string theory and reads Cosmo for advice. Yeah, you gotta need that for another breakup a little over a year later. lol
- The new styling for Sheldon! OMG "I suppose I could see myself in a scientific boy band. Of course, I'd be the dreamy one and the smart one." and Amy's reaction: "Yeah, it's cute! [...] like sex on a stick!" - "She's right. I'm too hot." LMAO Oh, you two!
- "I hope he's this distraught if he ever breaks up with me." Well...
- Aww Amy takes him to bed. I love how the first thing in the morning is him asking about her and wanting to call her to apologise. <3
- His drunk calls to Hawking! OMG "I kiss girls now!" LOL

7x21:
- Anything can happen Thursday!
- I actually quite like the Amy and Leonard talk here. I know some people don't but I think Amy's confession is very true to her character and fits her insecurities about her relationship with Sheldon.
- Penny and Sheldon at the psychic is great as well: "He should give himself to this relationship. Once he does, all his pursuits will come into focus." - "Amy is the key to your happiness." - "Exactly. Personally and professionally. Everything will fall into place once you commit to her." And he just stares at her in shock cause deep down he knows she's right so he freaks out and leaves.
- Also, the way he looks at Amy in her school girl outfit. It's the same look he gives her in Prom and we all know what that meant. lol

7x22:
- Arthur dies and Sheldon is in complete denial cause he doesn't know how to deal. Poor kid.
- I love the talk with ghostly Jedi Athur in the swamp. Well, Sheldon's subconsciousness dressed up as ghostly Jedi Arthur. "Appreciate them, Sheldon." and then the Shelnard hug. <3
- That Death Star cake looks amazing!
- And then the tag ends with Arthur inquiring if Sheldon doesn't see a problem there with how he's spending his limited time on Earth. There's a part of Sheldon that questions his life choices and wants more than what he has now.

7x23:
- "Wouldn't you be upset if you saw Amy with someone else?" - "Can't happen..." Yeah, we'll come back to that in S9, Shelly.

7x24:
- Things are really coming to a head for poor Sheldon: the university is not approving of him quitting string theory, Lenny are engaged and want to move out, Amy wants to move in with him and he realises she loves him, and the comic book store is in ruins. Everything happens so much and he just can't deal with all of this at once. I just wanna give him a consoling hug.
- I like that the last thing he does is checking in with Amy to let her know he's okay. <3

General Observations:
- First things first, I haven't noted on them much in the single episode commentary but this is the season where they really crank up the "Amy can't get anything physical from Sheldon" jokes. Jeez. And while earlier seasons also had the innuendo/theoretical sex kinda jokes this time around they get an edge of "well, maybe there's never anything coming out of this for her" which makes the whole thing so much more hurtful for Amy. One big thing though: I don't think she's ever made any demands on that topic herself. At most it's her wanting "romance" or suggesting to move in with Sheldon or reminding him of the date night kisses. But she's never specifically pushing him for sex. Which makes me wonder: Where does that "horny Amy strong arms poor Sheldon into sex!" meme even come from???? (serious question!)
- Speaking of Amy: I think with this season we've reached a point where the rose-coloured glasses have come off. She has learned how to deal with Sheldon most of the time and is often the one who's successfully keeping him in line. She's a bit pushy on some issues in their relationship but I think by the end of the season she adopted a more careful attitude, like when she suggests for the last time that they could live together - compare that to her pushy attempt in S6 and the cocky line feeding attempt earlier in S7. It doesn't help of course that Sheldon completely freaks out and hops on a train afterwards which undoubtedly just adds to her insecurities about their relationship. Together with the ridicule and pressure from her friends her having doubts that eventually end with the breakup is not that surprising.
- Interesting side note: This season had Amy being paired up with all the other guys of the group individually for some B-plots. I wish they would mix up the cast like this more often. Surprisingly enough, outside of her and Howard's Neil Diamond moment, she seems to be the least awkward with Raj all the while helping him with his girlfriend issues.
- As for Sheldon, the season continues the change theme as noted on my S6 report. This time it all seems to serve a more general forceful change in his life: giving up string theory, the death of Professor Proton, the prospect of Lenny leaving him, confronting his mother and questioning his upbringing, the destruction of his beloved comic book store - and of course the big whopper: the changes in his and Amy's relationship. There are plenty of moments that both show and tell us how much Amy has a positive influence on him. And he knows that Lenny and even that psycic are right about that and it scares the hell out of him cause he knows where this all leads ("oh, sure, and while we’re at it, why don’t we get engaged, too? Why don’t we get a little house, start a family? Enjoy our sunset years together?") and he isn't ready for that, yet. He reached his breaking point and needs to sort himself out.
- On another side note: I had the feeling that this season more than others really wanted to dive into Sheldon's mind and emotional workings - more often than not in a way that showed us how he's dealing with conflict and all those little things that greatly upset him, even though most other people would probably shrug those issues off. And more often than not he is terrible at coping with those situations and it ends with an emotional outburst of some sort and him fleeing the situation. And we also get to know why: because he's living with that metaphorical itchy sweater in his brain and he just can't take it off.
- Anyway, I thought this season actually had a lot of wonderful milestones: the mutual "I like you", the screensaver/"I missed you"/"I know", THE kiss, establishing date night kisses, the normalisation of physical contact between them, and the importance of Amy in Sheldon's life. Despite some things I don't like overall I'm rather satisfied with the progress of our couple!

On to S8!! Getting close to the end now!

Great review! I agree so much with the quoted part. Definitely in S. 7 Amy knew whom she was dealing with and was starting to assert herself in a more effective way. Those were not the awkward attempts to impose herself as Sheldon's roommate in S. 6, she was trying to understand his fears too and to get to some sort of compromise. Unfortunely, the way Sheldon reacted in S. 7 finale (which for me was more a reaction to the whole situation than specifically to Amy asking for some sort of commitment) in a way was the long-term cause of their break up. When Sheldon came back from his train trip, he was at flight risk, there was no mention of anything which could upset him. At the end of it, Amy just blew up.

Luckily "All's well that ends well", now I'm so ready for today panel to hopefully get some spoilers about the first part of the new season and\or some BTS of some Shamy episodes in S. 9!!

Guys and gals, Opening Night is in the current Episode tournament against The Staircase Implementation. Both are great episodes worthy of votes, though Opening Night shades it for me:

YES! Everybody vote - tell your friends on tumbr & facebook! lol

Opening Night is just perfect for me! <3

Yeah, it was a mix of everything that caused his meltdown - and Amy knew that. There's a scene when she comes into 4A to ask Lenny about Sheldon and she describes what happened like this: "He was really angry that you suggested he move out. [...] I also mentioned that he and I could live together but he was too mad at you to realize what a great idea that is!" And she isn't wrong, looking at how he complained about the stupid strawberry quick. Amy made it with the syrup which tastes better - but what that wasn't what he wanted because he's desperately clinging to the old status quo.

Shamy to go to a flag convention in Season 10? LOVE IT!, Please make it happen writers!

I was so excited when I read this one, let's hope that the idea sticks! I'm also very happy that  Amy is possibly going to have a science related plot. That was in my wish list for Season 10. I'm not quite sure about the subject, tough,  did I understand correctly and it should be something about the sexual life of mice? And then, my fan-girl heart couldn't help to stop beating when it was said that maybe the show may speak about the Spockumentary; could it be an opportunity to introduce again the ring?

These are just ideas so they could use them or not I guess.

A flag convention would be just so Shamy, Fun with Flags is their 'baby' so getting them to go to a flag convention could provide some great comedy. Amy doing more science yes please! Interesting if the Spockumentary comes up again, Amy already knows about the ring so I wonder why they would bring it up. I guess the raw outbursts of pain from Sheldon might provide some interesting discussion but I am not sure what Amy would make of it.

So then the big Shamy ideas/spoilers(?) are:

- At some point during his travels Molaro talked to a neuroscientist who's studying something with mice (mouse orgasm experimentation??? LMAO) and that might be Amy's next study. Yay, more science for Amy!! :D

- Shamy go to a flag convention - Kazzie says it's a spoiler but I'll be careful to think anything is set in stone at this point.

- Something about continuing Sheldon's growth getting over his bigotry??? That tweet was a bit cryptic but I dig all those storylines where Sheldon tries to be a better person so bring it on!

- Spockumentary might come back with Sheldon being in it and all. YAY!

Edit: I'm too slow! Drat.

The flag convention was mentioned in an article on a relatable journal, so maybe is something more than just an idea

I don't want to raise hope in anybody, tough...

If the idea makes it to the show, it will be interesting to see which part of Sheldon's interview they'll show, if they will follow a more dramatic path, showing his outburst on the couch, or will be a bit more lighthearted, showing just the scene at the kitchen isle. Anyway, we'll know pretty soon, the release date for "For the love of Spock" is September 9! Assuming that at some point after Lenny redo there should be a time jump for updating Bernie's pregnancy, it could be very early in the season.

Thankfully in not to much drama this summer !

I really like these bits we're getting! Amy getting a science plot is awesome and I really hope her and Sheldon go to that convention. I'd love it if it turned out to be like Solder, where they only had scenes with each other away from the rest of the cast and for the entire episode they were at the convention!

Does anyone think this thread will have 1000 pages again in season 10 like season 9 ?

Do you have a link about the news article of the mice experiment ? And where the showrunners talk about it ?  Thanks in advance.

two random musings that could happen at the convention that I think would be funny:

1.) Sheldon and Amy (being the wonderful flag experts they are) find tons of mistakes spoken at the panel and they have a good laugh about it (like in 4x20) and/or they get up and loudly correct the speaker

2.) We find out that Shamy are the power couple of the world of vexillology. They meet fans of FWF who worship them.

Most of the information came from a live tweet from the panel, you can find it here and, BTW, thanks to all the people involved!

I have my doubts, seems like a lot of the posters from the Season 9 thread just aren't posting anymore (it's the hiatus to be fair, maybe some will come back when the show is actually on).

I think us remaining posters will try our best, we could gif a few pages lol

@serena_nyc1995 We have a new season - along with the tapings - and presumably big plotpoints for Shamy ahead of us so it's possible.

@Jonny83 For me it's the hiatus. I still read the posts and I've made one or two myself but when the hiatus is so long new info is vital - to me at least.
