Yes, you can have moments where there is only one in a scene.  For instance, "She is not for you"  , Amy is not in the scene, but it is a Shamy moment.  There are several like that on the Lenny side, for example, "It means I wish you weren't going", from Penny.

Phew ! I'd already submitted that one in my ten. Some of the most interesting Shamy moments for me are when they are talking about each other to someone else. It shows how much time they actually spend together when we don't see them. Sheldon told Leonard that Amy had taught him to drive, for instance. Imagine how long that took. Sheldon's description to Bernadette in the department store at Christmas of so many things he knew Amy enjoyed didn't include anything we'd actually seen.  And then there was the way Amy recognised Sheldon's koala face, having seen it so often at the zoo. :)

I've kept to scenes with both of them in otherwise I would never have been able to narrow it down to 10!!

Same.

My submitted list though I could have done 20 or more easily:

1. The Prom Equivalency - Sheldon and Amy declare their love for each other.

2. The Opening Night Excitation - The scene with Sheldon in bed and Amy enters the room.

3. The Shiny Trinket Maneuver - Sheldon gives Amy a Tiara.

4. The Earworm Reverberation - Sheldon goes over to Amy's apartment to try and win her back and succeeds, passionate kiss between them

5. The Indecision Amalgamation - Please pass the butter scene.

6. The Launch Acceleration - The Scene with Amy trying to get Sheldon to develop stronger feelings for her, Super Mario music, spaghetti with hotdogs etc.

7. The Locomotive Manipulation - Sheldon kisses Amy for the first time.

8. The Flaming Spittoon Acquisition - Sheldon asks Amy to be his girlfriend.

9. The Tangible Affection Proof - Sheldon makes Amy his contact details in case something happens to him at work.

10. The Lunar Excitation - Sheldon and Amy meet for the first time.

I had neither in mine but I was so so tempted to put at least one those two on there, most likely the cuddling on the sofa scene. It's tough.

The lists should be balanced LOL ! Most moments here are about how Sheldon has done something sweet/ ooc for Amy ! But what about the nice gestures Amy has done for Sheldon ?

I get what you are saying, I guess in a way sometimes Sheldon doing something nice for Amy (which was rare early season) does seem to stick out in the mind more.

But some of the memorable scenes they both played key parts, like the scene when Sheldon makes Amy his contact details at work Amy beforehand wanted to make Sheldon happy but not doing stereotypical valentine stuff. I also had the scene when Amy tries to get Sheldon to develop stronger feelings for her with Super Mario, hotdog Spaghetti etc.

I'm down to 11 !!!!

but need to loose either -

Fort with sleep over negotiations etc

OR

Sheldon going to comfort Amy after she's left out of bridesmaid shopping , with hugging and negotiations

Eeeek - this is super tricky !

both good scenes! i would probably give the couch comforting snuggles, sheldon's discomfort and leonard giving "snuggles" a hard time after was classic!

i love the dinner manipulation experiment as well! his "uh oh" towards the end had me howling. not to mention the "star trek doctor scene" in the tag later lol

The Beach Boys song from Earworm is a nice touch ! The creators hardly feature songs  by other artists on tbbt, so I was wondering if ' Darlin' will be a Shamy song? They can use it again for future Shamy moments. Kinda like that  U2 song was a recurring theme for  Ross / Rachel on Friends.

Although the best music sequence for me was the Sheldon/Raj "Eye of the Tiger"  sequence from an early episode( don't remember which)

I would be ok if "Darlin" became their song, but only as a slow piano version, because I agree with Mirs, that I don´t like the sound of this song, but the lyrics. But as a piano version it could be nice, if the played it slowly.

Another song I would like to hear in the background, while they slowly make out, undressing each other slowly (though this part would be off screen) is this one (I got goose bumps when I heard it for the first time):

Oh, yes, I agree with that, Sheldon's nice gestures, especially in the early seasons, stuck out in our minds because we didn't expect something like that from him. But, paraphrasing Sheldon's own words, Amy has softened his life. I think that what my has done for Sheldon is exactly to give him another dimension and her kind presence has made his life better. Anyway, she has also made a lot of kind things for him on and off screen; apart the ones you mentioned, she proposed the fort idea, to cheer him up after he behaved terribly during their date night, she had the idea of his birthday party, which helped him to overcome a trauma from his childhood, she went with him to the aquarium when they were still broken up because she realized he wanted to spend Thanksgiving there, she cooked his favourite cookies as a Christmas present, and, above all, she taught him how to drive, which is a big proof of affection, we all  know how terrible Sheldon is in driving, she put her own life at risk for him, LOL!

I just watched this episode again last night, and drunk Amy in the parking lot calling Sheldon "Cuddles" was terrific.

Previously on my pre-S10 rewatch: [S1-3] [S4] [S5] [S6] [S7]

Finished S8! YAY!!

8x01:
- Poor Sheldon, how often did he get robbed now? It must be the 4th time or something. lol
- He lists Amy wanting to move in with him as one of the issues that put him over the edge but assumes that this was a ploy to get him into bed. He worries about that a lot this season.
- I love the car scene when Sheldon finally admits to his insecurities. "I called Leonard because I failed and I didn't want you to think less of me." and Amy's reassurance that it's okay that he's not perfect.
- And after everything the punchline is still "Amy just hurt my feelings. I want to break up with her." Be careful what you wish for, sweety!
- Overall there's the suggestion that the trip changed him in some ways but he still has a long road ahead...

8x02:
- So then, Sheldon is getting promoted to "Junior Professor" which is a bit puzzling cause it's not a position you'd find in US academia. From what I can tell it's a position unique to German universities and comparable to an "Assistant Professor" in the US. Now, the interesting thing is that in its function it is a tenure track position, or at least it should be in theory, but there's a lot of critique surrounding how it's handled in Germany (it's complicated...). Which leads me to the question of why did they make Sheldon a "Junior Professor" and not an "Assistant Professor"? Did our fictional CalTech just cobble together that position for Sheldon? Did the writers want to put Sheldon on a tenure track position without making it too obvious?!? Or...??
- The whole Howard vs. Sheldon stuff is so hilarious!
- Meanwhile Amy experiments with starfish ("You like that, don't you? That's right, say my name." LOL) and is suddenly the popular girl in between Penny's and Bernie's disagreement. OMG I love the girls so much. <3
- "You better watch that attitude, buddy, you're dating the popular girl now!" LOL

8x03:
- Sheldon missed "a number of date nights" during his 45 days trip he has to catch up on - so much so that he's bargaining to let a double date count as two dates. I'll take that as proof that they have date nights more often than the initial once a month they agreed upon in S5.
- "That's so hot." - "It's more than hot, it's binding!" Oh Amy! lol
- Sheldon spends basically the whole episode praising their relationship and Amy is enjoying his gushing. On one hand it's super adorable: the looks, the food sharing... <3
- On the other it also shows some underlying issues that they want different things at this point. Sheldon's gushing is all about his comfort zone: the bureaucracy, spending time with Amy in comforting silence, and framing it all in neat objective parameters as per that test that perfectly takes the romance out of it all. And Amy is quite happy with that to some extend but hearing Leonard's little speech to Penny makes her want some of that, too: A declaration of devotion and commitment.

8x04:
- Sheldon is still compartmentalising the hell out of the relationship by insisting that it's not romantic. Denial ain't just a river in Egypt...
- "I know that if I had a wife or a fiancée I'd ask her first before I invested money in a comic book store." and then he goes and asks Amy's opinion. You may do the maths here. ;D
- Though the way he frames the question certainly doesn't soothe Amy's fears that he's still a flight risk after his train stunt.

8x05:
- Amy is a distraction: "... "Hi. Hope you're having a good day." Who has time for this constant sexting?" LOL Oh Shelly!

8x08:
- It's prom! I love how the gang is on board of this because most of them didn't have a proper prom experience. <3
- Post-prom mating rituals. Oh boy... "Well, if it's part of the prom experience, then I'm open to it." and "I may be an alien, but I have urges." OH BOY! Sure, it's all under the guise of being an alien while trying to cope with the whole situation but I think he's genuinely thinking about it. It's been almost two years since he admitted to Lenny that he's working on his issues with physical contact so that one day he and Amy might actually get physical, and since then they've started kissing regularly and he found he enjoyed that more than the thought he would (wink wink). Not to mention he knows that Amy loves him and he's reached a point where he can't deny anymore that he loves her, too. So it makes sense that he'd at least consider to take that next step with her.
- However, it's all fun and games until Leonard confirms that yes, amorous post-prom activities are actually a thing and that's when the panic is starting to build up.
- ...and it completely kicks in when he sees how pretty she is in her dress. "I really did think you looked pretty. So much so that I started to panic." Aww.
- I really really really love the talk they have then about his fears and Amy's hopes. Just like Love Spell it's a vulnerable moment for them and you can tell how far they've come since then. For Sheldon physical intimacy is more of a certainty now, it's just not the right moment because he isn't ready, yet. Likewise, in the earlier episode Amy was more forward with her wish for a physical relationship but here she makes a point that it's not about sex at all and she just wants to have a nice time with him. <3
- And the ILY2 is so perfect. "The only conclusion was love." Oh Sheldon, you big old hippie!

8x10:
- Best of FwF!! Not gonna lie: I'd watch all 232 episodes with those dorks! :D
- FwF first appeared in Jan 2012, now it's Nov 2014. 232 is a lot of episodes in that time frame. They'd have to produce about 3 episodes every two weeks. That's a lot of work. I mean, we don't know how long the episodes are* - for all we know they could be just 5-10 minutes so that they can film more than one on a productive afternoon. But often they go all out in terms of guests, costumes, props and occasionally even special effects. So that really must've taken a whole chunk of their free time.
- *Except for that 2-hour 4th of July special that didn't get recorded.
- "I PRESSED IT!" LMAO

8x11:
- "Why do you hate me?" - "I don't hate you, I love you." <3
- One of the rare Sheldon and Bernie stories. aww
- When Sheldon complaints about Amy kissing him in public "like we were the stars of a Tijuana sex show." LOL
- And then he comes up with his evil master plan to ruin Christmas for Amy by... buying her the perfect present. A+ idea Sheldon.
- "Hmm. Let’s see, what do I know about Amy? She loves medieval literature, Chaucer’s her favourite. And her eyes sparkle when she watches old French movies. I enjoy how harp music causes her fingers to dance as if she’s playing along." - "Wow, you really do love her. - "I do." Awwww, his eyes sparkle when he talks about her.
- Obviously, his plan backfires. Amy being happy over the gift is so cute. And Sheldon just lights up when he tastes her cookies. It's like Amy gave him Christmas back! <3

8x12:
- PALS! :D
- Amy taught Sheldon how to drive. Awww. I wonder if we'll ever get to see an episode again with him driving.
- I love the Shelnard talk. It starts out as typical squabble but then turns into something really heartfelt.
- "Are you crazy? You know he's a flight risk!" Oh Amy.
- Basket weaving at the craft museum! YAY!

8x13:
- Aww Amy's trying to help Sheldon finding his optimal anxiety level. I like it when they do science together! :D
- Still ruining those date nights, eh? Prioritising work over Amy, like that won't come back to haunt you, buddy.

8x14:
- Between the Shelnard paper and Amy's fanfic this episode is just wonderful!! :D
- I love how Penny and Bernie are just getting so into the story.
TBBTsquee.gif
- Anyway, the fanfic also says so much about what Amy wants in this relationship. She doesn't write Cooper as this ideal romantic Casanova or whatever. He's still recognisably Sheldon and yet still her self-insert Amelia is adoring this guy. The crux of this story though is the scene when Cooper is about to leave and Amelia is heartbroken which reflects on one level how Amy felt when Sheldon left for his train trip but also her fears that he might do something like that again with him being a flight risk and all. And then with Cooper coming back you get to see her secret wish, that she'd be the priority in his life and get some proper commitment from him ("There is no future without you.")...
- ...and a bit of sexy times because it's a fanfic after all! LOL
- The bathing scene though! #dead (I'm sure someone can conjure up some gifs. You know, for science! ;D)

8x17:
- "WE'RE GETTING A TURTLE!" Those dorks! <3
- ...and then things get intense when Sheldon reveals he applied to go to Mars. And it's exactly as Amy fears, that he'd dump her the moment something better comes along - in this case a scientific mission which is again him prioritising his work over a future together with her. And it takes her the longest time to make him understand. On the plus side Sheldon really tries and immediately goes after her when she rushes out and manages to save the situation.
- And that hug is everything! This episode really stands out in S8 for having not only the hand-holding and the hug but also quite a bit of casual touching.
- Also, Mars babies! I love how Sheldon is so into that idea. LOL

8x20:
- Cranky Sheldon on date night. Oh boy. His stupid face on the printout though. LOL
- Naturally, Amy saves the day with her suggestion. Fort Cozy McBlanket is my happy place!! :D
- They are so gosh darn cute in this! Love how Sheldon is smiling from ear to ear and they're both having a great time with the Best Fort Ever Contest.
- The way they negotiate their sleepover is also super sweet, although Amy comes across at being very careful with her suggestion. Poor kid.
- It's a bit frustrating that we never really find out what went down during the sleepover. I mean, what is allowed in a G-rated movie?? What were they agreeing on here?? No nudity, no sex, but cuddling and kissing? lol

8x23:
- Flowers vs. the mushroom log. It has been talked to death on this forum so I'm not gonna go into this quirky romance vs. romance romance fight. Bottom line is though that Amy has apparently never gotten flowers all the while Sheldon has seemingly no problem preparing a nice little posy for his mother leaving Amy feeling disappointed. GDI Sheldon.

8x24:
- The 5 year anniversary! Aww, it started out so well and then it all went downhill pretty fast... Sigh.
- The good thing first: Make-out! YAY! Also, dat "Anyway..." His mind may have wandered astray but that "Anyway..." doesn't lie! ;D
- The not so good: Aww, poor Amy is so wary the whole time. It's their anniversary and she wants it to be good but Sheldon fucks up and it hits her so hard. She gives him several chances to save the mess but nope, he just keeps digging deeper! GDI Sheldon!
- "We were necking like a couple of hooligans under the school bleachers..." LMAO oh sweety.
- Aww he's upset that Amy is mad at him and he just can't understand why. lol, Leonard, you're not helping. I'm with Penny here, you two are just stupid. Jeez.
- "If I'm in, I'm in for the whole run, even if the quality declines." Says the guy with a ring hidden in his desk. ;D
- Sheldon calling their years of dating "foreplay". OMG
- And the fateful skype call breaks my heart every damn time. Amy's patience runs out just when Sheldon is about to make the next big step but at the same time he doesn't understand the situation at all. Oh dear.
- "...what do I do with this one?" Yeah, what indeed, Sheldon. Sigh.

General Observations:
- Man, this season really is a mixed bag all things considered. (Unpopular opinion??)
- Last year there's been a lot of discussion about whether or not the timing for the break was right and I've always been in camp "yes, the timing was perfect". The thing is, I do think that at the beginning of the season Sheldon managed to get a second chance with him admitting that he failed and didn't want Amy to think less of him. I'm sure if he'd been as stubborn as he was at the end of the season and the beginning of the next Amy would have dumped him earlier. But by being honest with Amy and daring to show her his vulnerable side he managed to save his ass for a while. And this emotional honesty is still something that Amy wants, even way more than anything physical, imo.
- Subsequently you can see Amy being very careful with him. During the season she isn't really asking for much and when she does she'd often make sure to play by his rules. I think this season more than any other Amy had to invoke the RA with Sheldon - be it him making up on the dates he missed out on, reminding that they agreed not to bring work to or be moody on date night. There are signs that she is indeed holding back and very worried about Sheldon being still a flight risk. He doesn't make her feel like she's a priority and it hurts her so much whenever he's putting work or his hobbies above anything else. So after basically spending the year trying to make this work and not getting that kind of commitment in return I do think she's more than justified to take some time off and think things through (which is all she wanted at this point).
- And on the other side of things I don't think that Sheldon realises what he's doing with that behaviour. From his point of view the train trip gave him a lot of time to think. I'm sure leaving with having realised that Amy loves him made him admit on some level that he loves her as well, even though at first he would still cling to this idea that their relationship is "not romantic" in a last attempt to keep things in his comfort zone, and he wouldn't admit to this true feelings until Prom. All through the season he does make some genuine progress and I still think that somewhen between Mars and Mary's visit he decided that Amy is "the one" for him, hence the ring and his complete inability of understanding the situation. It certainly doesn't help that he can't deal with hurt feelings and conflict, making everything worse in the process. But more of that in S9.
- All in all I do think that albeit the somewhat bitter-sweet undertones this season has knowing how it all turns out I do think the high points for our couple show a lot promise for the future, cause when they're on the same page they really click and it's a joy to watch them. There's a solid foundation to this relationship based on their similarities and despite the rocky road that is ahead in S9 that strength of their bond that has been forged in the past 5 years will pull them back together eventually.

And with that on to S9!! :D

Also, time to post this (warning: FEELS!!). The journey so far:

I watched this video way too often during last year's hiatus. M83's "Too Late" will forever hit me right in my Shamy feels. If anyone knows any Shamy fan who makes those kinds of fanvids can I request M83's "Reunion" for a happy one??? Pretty please??? lol

Season 8 is a mixed one for me as well, you get some major progress for example the mutual love declaration (which is my no.1 Shamy moment by a distance) but then you also see some real danger signs on the horizon.

I guess a part of me knew a breakup could be on the cards but I was so shocked at the time because I didn't think it would happen when it did or in the manner that it did. It was clear that Amy just didn't breakup because Sheldon was thinking about the Flash show and Amy reacted to it, it must have been a combination in my opinion of several things most probably over the course of a season or more. For example in earlier seasons you have the rest of the group ridiculing their relationship or perhaps more simply the pace that their relationship advanced, I think that must have put a seed in Amy's mind for sure.

We all know that the biggest issue they have had in their relationship is communication and both have been fault, sometimes one has been at more fault in particular examples. I think Amy instead of just expressing and venting any issues she had she just held them in for fear of driving him away and she just finally  blew up and had to take a break.

Looking forward to your Season 9 review, I have been watching some of the breakup episodes on Season 9 and wow they are painful to watch at times being a Shamy shipper. But it worked out in the end.

My favorite exchange, from that comic book store scene was:-

Leonard: Will you stay out of this?
Sheldon: If only Penny had said that once in a while.

I don't know how long you've been lurking in the forum before you joined but last year when all this went down the Shamy thread had a really heated debate about that. One side was all "Amy just broke up with Sheldon over the stupid Flash comment?? That doesn't make any sense!!" and the other maintained "It's a 'the straw that broke the camel's back' situation! It makes perfect sense!!". I was in the latter group and very delighted when only a few days later Molaro said almost the same thing verbatim that I was arguing the whole time. Fun times back then! lol

So yeah, the idea that it's a cumulative effect with her exhaustion and disappointment building up over time, as you said, is exactly what the writers were going for.

I agree, Amy was bottling up a lot and it was only a question of time when she'd read him the riot act.

They both need to refine their communication. I thought S9 already showed some improvements and I hope S10 will continue that.

Amy has said as much herself when expressing her fears to Beverly.

The trouble is, Sheldon is not the easiest person in the world for anybody to get through to. Even at the end of 8/24 when Amy was telling him in plain language on Skype how 'challenging' the relationship with him could be he said, 'Strongly disagree.'

It's difficult for everybody to make Sheldon see that his view of the world is not the best one just because it's his. Amy  came into the relationship 'cold' with nothing but her knowledge of neuroscience to distinguish between Sheldon's disorders, his arrogant personality, his ever-competitive-combative-twin attitude, and when he was just being a selfish jerk. If we believe what she says, she'd never had friends before, let alone a lover. No experience to go on. Social interaction and negotiation aren't Amy's 'thing' although she's better at it than Sheldon and improving all the time.  Sheldon doesn't exactly make great efforts himself to communicate. He's most comfortable with everything written down in black and white. He tends to tell Amy in advance what answers he wants even when he asks her things.

Hehe I agree. But it is interesting that everyone finds Sheldon being jealous in Flaming Spittoon or when he hits Leonard   'romantic' or 'cute' , yet no one reacts like that when Amy acts jealous of Alex over the phone  and gets a bit territorial or when she gets jealous that Sheldon has 'Marie Curie' as his screensaver and says 'That's okay she's dead'. Just something I observed. It is almost similar behavior by both, yet when Sheldon does it is 'romantic' but no one says it is romantic if Amy does it. LOL.

Haha..I'm not so sure ! :icon_wink:  Although, I personally never find too much jealousy nice to watch by any character. Also I think the tag scene in Big Bear is a good Shamy moment. It is underrated because it gets buried by Opening Night moments and the ones in Earworm, but they are just being themselves at the end. So I like it.

Yeah, it needs to have a nice balance but so far I never thought it went over board. It's barely a handful of jokes spread over a couple years, so no big deal.

I adore that scene! <3
