There were more lines like this, according to some members of the audience in the chat session after the taping. They were cut, as was Sheldon's gesture of patting the seat next to him when the girls arrived at the bar. The 'previously' scene with Valentino the rabbit took up unnecessary time at the beginning when we could have had more Shamy. To quote Bernie's father 'I wanted to shoot the television.' Amy would continue to be okay with that? I'd call BS on that. No woman would agree to that for the entire year. This is just one of the many things that tell me they've been doing it since Opening Night because that was NOT a "spontaneous thing." Hell, they both knew it was going to happen before Sheldon even got there! AND at some point between them kissing on the couch and Sheldon sitting on Amy's bed looking around, they had to STOP and write up a NDA and sign it. That's NOT spontaneous!! I think Amy would be happy (well maybe happy isn't the right word, perhaps accepting?) to wait a year because it was a huge step for both of them, but if they do it again on her birthday she aint going to be happy waiting another year for a third time imo. This is very new to them and they have this unique relationship so it may take time to settle on how to proceed. I think ultimately they will sort it out as long as they communicate. On the second point I think one of three things happened: 1. The way that whole conversation was phrased it points to them being intimate on more than one occasion. 2. It was an error by the writers, sometimes they do mess up lines. 3. It was deliberately ambiguous to create debate in the Shamy fanbase, which is what we are doing lol I think it could be any of these. 1 hour ago, joyceraye said: There were more lines like this, according to some members of the audience in the chat session after the taping. I get why they tweaked it, more Shamy is more than welcome but that was largely a Howardette story so no complaints here. I didn't want to shoot the television, but I did in the previous episode the Valentino Submergence when Sheldon was about to open his heart only to be interrupted. Desdemona
I agree that I don´t want Shamy to wait until her next birthday before they do it again. As much as I want Amy to have already sex with Sheldon on a regular basis, I think the writers will let Sheldon explore his sexuality in season 10, because it contains too much comedy potential. On the other hand, the writers could decide to easily resolve the big question if they are doing it regularly or not, by a comment of one of them. One of these ocassions would have been, when Howardette tainted Sheldon´s bed. He could have decided to buy a new one, so he takes Amy with him, to help him, find one. And after they found one, Amy could offer him, to find some blankets, which he replies: "Well, I guess there´s no reason, why I shouldn´t let you have a word about it as well, since we are having sex regularly and I want to sleep at least a few times a week in my own bed..... with you. BTW wouldn´t it be great if Amy and Sheldon would work on Amy´s research and get a Nobel prize for it? Sheldon might have a problem with getting a Nobel Prize for something, which has nothing to do with physics, so he refuse it first, so Amy would go alone to Sweden. But then when she would get the Nobel Prize, she would find Sheldon next to her, taking the prize as well, which would make her happy. After the award, she would ask him, why he changed his mind, so he answer that, he couldn´t refuse it, because it have meant that somehow he would have refused their collaboration and that he would have denied, how much he enjoyed working with her and he couldn´t do that. Amy would be touched, saying that they are now like Marie and Pierre Curie, who also got a Nobel Prize for their work, whick Sheldon would deny, saying that these two were married. Amy would nod slowly and take his hand to go with him to the hotel. But before they would leave, he would ask her, if she liked to change that. Amy would turn to him, looking confused and asking him what he means. Sheldon would pull her into his arms, take her hands into his and ask her: Amy Farrah Fowler, would you give me the honor and marry me?

I really don't think they're doing it, the writers would let us know if they were. I think he was firm on that once a year BUT as it gets closer and his urges grow (hehe) then he won't make it. Sheldon would be hilarious trying to deny that he is horny for Amy!
April
Regarding the issue of certain lines being suggestive: Being currently 2/3rds into S9 with my rewatch it kinda feels like they didn't exactly know where they'd end up at the end of the season with that. So there are plenty ambiguous lines that could go one way or another depending on how much more Shamy they could squeeze in there. I mean, S9 was already very heavy with the Shamy focus (my notes are already freaking textwalls for this lol) so then the second half went a lot lighter with their relationship stuff and mostly concentrating on rebuilding their emotional bond on several levels. I guess with that focus and giving the other characters some room to breathe as well they decided to let the physical stuff go for now. But with what we have now there's a solid foundation for the writers to take it further. And I hope they do. Remember, in-show we're still only in May when S10 starts. Sheldon being Sheldon I can easily buy that he has no issues controlling his urges for some time (he did that long enough). Likewise Amy is by far not the nymphomaniac people make her out to be, she'll manage as well. However, she's been attempting to flirt with him and dropping hints, she's also aware that they need to be more open with each other, and if she hadn't gotten the memo that Sheldon doesn't get flirting before she should have it by now after seeing him being clueless while Mary flirted with Alfred right next to him. Point being, the stage is set, they just need to do something with it. I can easily imagine the topic coming up anytime soon.

Amy New scientific project seems the perfect way, to let Sheldon work with her closely and to discovery, his feelings, that are brewing inside him, ready to come up and to ignite the passion in him. It would be nice, it would be fun, to see how he struggles with the first symptons of sexual arousal, not knowing what they Jean, but as the scientist he is, he would want to find out. With Amy's support oft course.

Yep. Winning a Nobel is Sheldon's dream but they don't hand those out like candy. Especially for him as a theoretical physicist he'll be lucky if he ever achieves that. Not even Stephen Hawking has one. From what I understand about the process the crux of the issue is that your theory has to have tangible proof of some sort. Peter Higgs only got his in 2013 after CERN managed to experimentally establish the existence of a Higgs-like boson even though the theory that predicted its existence dates back to the 1960s. Radar
Nobel sounds great, but remember what the psychic said: First and foremost he has to 'give himself to this relationship. Perhaps Sheldon's Synesthesia (which we found out during the episode when Sheldon finds an Asteroid in Raj's data) spots something Amy is looking for in her research and get them working together on a project. 41 minutes ago, Radar said: Nobel sounds great, but remember what the psychic said: First and foremost he has to 'give himself to this relationship. Sheldon fully commits to Amy and starts having some major success, he then starts to ponder and reassess psychics which could provide some hilarious comedy (perhaps goes back to the psychic or another). But the lesson learned at the end of it is he just really happy with life and with Amy being at the center of that.
April
Previously on my pre-S10 rewatch: [S1-3] [S4] [S5] [S6] [S7] [S8] Finally made it through all 9 seasons!! YAY!! (This is gonna be huge, whoops.) 9x01: - "Some important new information has come to light: Women are the worst!" LMAO Oh Shelly. - "We make everyone feel awkward. That's our thing!" I love this line so much! haha - But damn, Sheldon so upset he can't think straight and his inability to deal with conflict (as per many episodes in the past seasons) easily turns this into a clusterfuck. GDI Sheldon. He immediately worries that she has someone else. Then mocks her when there is no other guy. And then later urges her to make a decision cause otherwise she won't be able to have kids because of her age - the implication being he's her best shot at that ever happening. Let's see how long you can sire children after someone kicks you in the balls for comments like this, Sheldon. Jeez. - Rip him a new one, Amy! - Bless Mary for talking him into keeping the ring. Mommy knows best. <3 - Love how the others are comforting Amy as she's already doubting her decision. Stay strong, girl! - And then Penny gets the final blow by revealing that Amy wrestled with the decision for a while now and that she thought Sheldon was a bad boyfriend. I have no doubt that this is Penny paraphrasing here. We get more details on Amy's side of things later. I also can't help but wonder if we would have gotten a scene or two with the Amy/Penny relationship talk if real life hadn't intervened with the ending of the series...? 9x02: - lol that stupid nightmare - "Sheldon, I don’t think you understand how being broken up works. The only way I can sort through my feelings is if there is space between us. Every time I see you, it re-traumatizes me. I go through the pain all over again." Poor Amy. Let me hug you! - "I'd like to remind you we made a baby together." Aww. I'm so mad at you, Sheldon, but at the same time this melts my heart. - "Sheldon, this has to stop. I know it’s hard. It’s hard for me, too. But I’ve seen and talked to you more in the two days we’ve been broken up than in the last two months that we were together." Of course this is mostly hyperbole to make a point but this actually roughly fits with the time frame between Fort in early April and their anniversary in late May - those episodes only had each one short scene with Amy because of sad real life events. We can assume that somehow after Fort things went downhill for a while, hence Amy struggling with their relationship. The only Shamy related scene we got then was about how Amy wasn't happy that when she wants flowers she only gets a lecture about how they're severed plant genitals. Her outburst on their anniversary also makes a lot of sense if this comes after 2 months of Sheldon showing her the cold shoulder for some reason. - Sheldon following the post-breakup protocols as per the good old Cosmo advice. lol It's cute when he tries to avoid his knocking ritual. "On the contrary, you no longer get to enjoy my charming eccentricities. We’re not friends with benefits." LOL And then his attempt to make her jealous: "Hey, you broke up with me. It is none of your business whose naked bosom I’m smooshing around like pizza dough." OMG - "And thankfully, all the things my girlfriend used to do can be taken care of with my right hand." I'm just... "You’d think that the Czech Republic would try to hold on to what it had, given that it’s not as young as it used to be. And I don’t see any other countries lining up to invade its southern borders." I mean, it's terrible... but also... LMAO this guy! Someone wants to get laid, just saying. - Kick his ass, Amy! - "She watched it. I’m gonna get that girl back. [...] She was listening through the door. She wants me." That... that's not how it works, honey. 9x03: - Amy gets her ears pierced as a direct FU to the Relationship Agreement. Bye bye, RA! I wish they'd bring her wearing earrings back in some way. She was so cute and happy with her new look. <3 - But she's still unsure about the breakup with her reluctance to tell her mom and all that. - "...that does get the creative juices flowing." - "Hey, I have to return this van. Keep your creative juices in your pants." LOL - The guys burning down Feynman's van is gold! 9x04: - So then, living arrangements! Although he's pretty upset at first Sheldon takes it surprisingly well after a bit of pep talk from Bernie. Signing the papers with Leonard and searching for new room mates doesn't seem to be much of a problem. - But then he asks Amy and she turns him down, unsurprisingly. He might have asked 11 other guys but he sent each of them out of the door with some flimsy reason and Amy remains his top choice. And he's so lost without her. He's still turning to her for advice about how to deal with his emotions but his hurt turns it into a complaint about how she and Lenny poisoned him with emotions. Oh sweety... - Aww, despite everything Amy's defending her sweet babboo: "Hey, I know Sheldon’s quirky, but he’s also brilliant and insightful. I think calling him a weirdo is a little unfair." - Cut to Sheldon living in 2003. LOL His angsting about being abandoned hits close to home though. I feel you, buddy. "Or Amy’s wedding, where she’s marrying someone better than me." Aww... poor guy. At least the message that he might not have been the best boyfriend slowly starts to sink in. 9x05: - lmao this stupid long time running gag about Sheldon's prostate exams... what even?? It was also one of the items of his list of physical contact that comes easily to others (lol) but is uncomfortable to him. You know, back when he was admitting that he was working on that so that one day he would maybe be physical with Amy. Coincidence? I think not! - Next step in our breakup roller-coaster: The prospect of Amy dating! "She deserves to be happy." That she does. And Sheldon's ready to kill Kripke if he ever dares to date her. lol - Ironically enough, Amy isn't interested in dating until Sheldon tells her he tried asking women out as a good way to move on and it breaks her heart. Unsurprisingly, that's then what she does in the following episodes trying to move on herself... - Sheldon finds his sweat delicious. His parting words towards Amy: "And I taste good, too." You'll find out for yourself soon enough, gurl! ;D 9x06: - Meet Skippy, the wedding planner who can't find love! awwwww - Dear lord, the gang is terrible about the whole dating thing. With friends like these you don't need enemies! Jeez. No wonder Amy kept that a secret. - DAVE! :D 9x07: - "This is a documentary about Mr. Spock. I’m sure if there’s nudity, it will be tasteful." lol - Aww, Sheldon calls Amy to let her know about the Spockumentary. (I can't wait to see what happens in S10 when it resurfaces!! Maybe she'll finally see it then! :D) - "I told you this guy is gold!" Oh Wil! LMAO - This is such a great character episode for Sheldon! I love it so much!! <3 It's heartbreaking though how he's trying to cope with all the abuse he had to endure by shutting down his emotions altogether. Naturally that doesn't go well... - LMAO the two saves and the security camera. "Oh my god, we've done things on that couch." ahahaha - The napkin! The Wil! The will! (hehe) THE RING!!!! - "I SAID I'M FINE!" ouch - "Sweetie, you’re yelling." - "Because when I speak at a regular volume, no one seems to believe me that I’ve put this Amy nonsense behind me!" Oh honey. - And then later he runs off to propose to Amy. OMG (I'll never forget the spoiler chat that morning! That was glorious! LMAO) - When he sees her his heart just breaks in tiny pieces again. Poor Sheldon! - Also, DAVE!! :D Their height difference is so funny to me, Idk why. - And in the end Sheldon questioning his life choices was done so well. He's reached his lowest point which finally opens him for change as per Leonard's suggestion: "Well now instead of idolizing fictional characters, you can focus on the real people who are already in your life." 9x08: - Fun dating time! - I love Amy's dress in this one. It's probably my favourite look for her. (But I fear we won't see that dress again...) - Most importantly though: DAVE!!! :D The casting of Stephen Merchant was genius! It's weird saying this about another love interest for Amy but I love this guy so much! Him turning out to be a Sheldon fan was the most hilarious thing in this whole breakup drama. - I love how the conversation with him and Amy confirmed her reasoning for doubting her relationship with Sheldon in the first place. We've been shown many times before how he neglected her at times, how he put his work front and centre while ignoring Amy. Heck, even Sheldon sees that as one of the contributing factors! All of this made Amy feel like she was putting more effort into this while getting very little in return. As she said in 8x24, it's exhausting. - Meanwhile, Sheldon starts his day in full on denial mode. LOL - I love when he describes what he's looking for in a woman it's basically a description of Amy: educated, intelligent, shares his interests while retaining her own unique point of view, kind and patient. - "And I have the soulful eyes of a cow." - "I don’t know if I’d say you… OH." LMAO - And then that girl shows up who should be a perfect match in theory but he just shuts the door into her face after a few polite words to her. His reasoning for doing so is delightfully flimsy because we all know he just wants Amy and Vanessa obviously wasn't her. - That line though: "She was late. And she found atomic spectroscopy boring. I wouldn’t coitus her with your genitals." LMAO dude. 9x09: - I like how we can already see Sheldon's new post-Spock side: He's seeking out companionship, and he's kind and sweet about it. But when nobody from the gang wants to go with him he's offering the tickets to Amy and even encourages her to take a date. After all the terrible sides we've seen of him earlier in the season that's wonderfully mature of him. - And you can see that Amy is pleasantly surprised by this gesture. I guess it's save to say that at this point she's calmed down enough to give this another try, even if it's only "as friends" at first. - LOL the car scenes are so sweet! Sheldon trying to keep a conversation going with the help of a list is so cute and thoughtful at the same time. <3 - And then when she offers that he can ask whatever comes to mind he immediately asks about her having coitus with anyone. "Man, I walked right into that one!" LMAO - "You mixed them. No wonder gentleman callers are pounding down your door." This makes me so happy cause after all those terrible lines in the past when he told her to her face that she should be thankful for the scraps of affection he's offering cause there's no one else now he's finally acknowledging that yes, Amy has options and deservedly so. - Furthermore, her answer to his coitus question should put his worries about her "wanting that nudge in her bedpost" to rest. The breakup wasn't about her just wanting sex - she didn't go and jump into bed with the next best guy. - Also this: "Are you doing okay?" - "I am." - "Good. I want you to be happy." - "I believe you." This is such a tender little exchange. - I love the aquarium set! It's so beautiful. <3 - And then they play a little game because of course. - "I miss this." - "How can you miss a game you’ve never played before, silly?" - "I guess sometimes I'm silly." Oh Amy. I love how this breakup drama starts to end with her appreciating what they had: spending time together and playing silly games. And it's apparently the most fun she had on a date in ages. Of course then her impulsively offering Sheldon to be his girlfriend again is terrible miscalculation. Oh Amy. - "Amy, I excel at many things, but getting over you wasn’t one of them. I think I need to just be your friend." After everything he's been through I can't fault Sheldon here. He's only recently started to work through the emotional turmoil so protecting himself for now and being honest with Amy about it shows a lot of growth on his part. 9x10: - My working theory for the earworm has always been that when Amy offered to be his girlfriend again a part of Sheldon's subconscious started to get really excited at the prospect of having her back so it needed to find a way to nudge Sheldon into the right direction. I always picture it as Jedi Professor Proton rummaging through Sheldon's eidetic memory in search of the perfect song and when he found it he just hit Sheldon over the head with it until he'd get it! LOL - Sheldon's descend into madness is so funny! I love the vlogs: "Dear crazy future Sheldon,..." LMAO - Meanwhile: DAVE!!!! :D So glad they decided to bring him back for this! <3 - Amy asking him out though... poor girl is so nervous. You can tell she's just forcing herself though this to mend her broken heart. And sex isn't on her mind at all - not until Bernie points it out and even then it's not something she'd be able to do, let's be real. She already freaks out a bit when Dave steals a kiss from her. - Finally, Sheldon's epiphany! For the rest of the episode he keeps saying the most hippie-dippie things ever. omg - The mutual ILY! Their happy faces!! AWWWWW <3 - "KISS HER, YOU BRILLIANT FOOL!" (Kazzie, I can hear you scream! LOL) - And they continue to make out forever while Dave is saying goodbye. "What a lovely evening!" Indeed, Dave! 9x11: - Sheldon sorting out his priorities is so sweet. I love how he immediately calls Amy to proudly tell her about his decision. - His gift ideas! "Harp thing, sheep thing..." - "... wild thing." lol - I love how supportive the girls are! <3 - "Intimacy in any form has been challenging for me, but I’d like to show her how important she is, and it feels like now might be the right time", he says, pretending he hadn't thought about it the whole 6 months they were separated. You ain't fooling me, Sheldon! LOL (Kidding aside: this is super sweet!) - "YOU SHUT YOUR DAMN MOUTH!!" LMAO - "This is an important night for us and I’m worried I might be overwhelmed and ruin everything." - "Sheldon, if you’re with the right person it’ll be okay." I love this so much. - "Birthday girl!" The flowers! Birthday dinner! Awww. But no - presents first! LOL - Sheldon asking for consent! The kisses! *SQUEEEE!* - OMG Amy's nervousness. That whole scene was handled so well. "We can find out together" and that kiss... - A FEW HOURS LATER! LMAO I'm still not over it! Those cheeky bastards in the writers' room went there!! Ahahahaha - The aftermath with Amy panting and her magnificent sex hair! OMG I can't even be mad at "next year" joke cause Amy's face looks like she's wondering for a second if that isn't too soon cause whatever they did will hold her for long while. #dead 9x12: - Finally less notes per episode. lol - I adore the skype calls with them basking in all their post-coital happiness! So cute!! - And again, Sheldon is seeking out company cause he doesn't want to be alone now that Amy is out of town. - I love how Sheldon bargains off the naming rights for their future children to name that asteroid after Amy as a gift. lol - The mutual "I miss you" <3 9x13: - While it's not nice that Amy bails on Sheldon when he's ill I'm happy to see that she's setting boundaries, especially when he's an ass. She's not taking care of him if he'll use that illness as an excuse to abuse his loved ones. Good for you, Amy! - I like how he's still looking up to her for guidance in social situations. He might be a bit stubborn and everything but he trusts her on this. <3 - The way he skypes her from his bed is so cute! omg - And again, Sheldon seeks out the gang's company and makes an extra effort this time apologising to everyone. 9x14: - Oh boy, Sheldon is so happy for Amy to meet Meemaw and then it all goes downhill fast. If you're mean to Amy we can't be friends, Constance! - It's weirdly unsettling when Sheldon doesn't sit in his spot. lol - I love how Amy is repeatedly insisting that Sheldon is not a child anymore. Bless you, Amy! - When Meemaw blabs about the ring Sheldon is so upset. Gawwd. This woman is so unpleasant. - Amy venting about how difficult Sheldon can be was such a huge issue in the discussions but I don't mind. I don't think she's talking about anything recent cause it fits perfectly with the situation before the breakup. - Sheldon defending Amy is cute - despite the bait-and-switch. But as we know he has a hard time admitting his shortcomings, especially in front of Amy, so it makes sense. - "I just gave you my virginity, woman. Cool your jets!" LOL - And while we don't get any other big things again this season casual touching is now happening more frequently than in earlier seasons. 9x15: - FWF is back! YAY! Sheldon's so proud of his little valentine's present - he's so cute! haha - I missed these dorks doing their show so so much. <3 - Raj and Kripke hijacking the show with their love life issues is so hilarious. I can't help it. Sheldon growing more and more frustrated while Amy just tries to be a good friend is cracking me up every time. LMAO - I love Sheldon's little speech about how he appreciates having gone through that breakup. And that they both agree that their relationship is now stronger than ever. 9x17: - Sheldon finally shares his birthday trauma because of Amy. awww - "Well, you made my last birthday so memorable, I wanted to return the favour." <3 - Love the scene where they're preparing for the party and Amy fixes his tie. Also: "Maybe later I’ll, uh, get to see you in your birthday suit." Oh Amy, honey, you gotta be a bit more blunt here. - They handled Sheldon's anxiety attack so well. And then Amy saves the party by starting the round of toasts! "I know it’s customary for the birthday boy to receive presents, but I feel like I got the greatest gift the day he was born." <3 9x19: - Love this ep so much! <3 - RIP red Alienware laptop! You had a good run. - Amy getting him a new one was handled perfectly. "Oh, well, was this guy Rick from Computer Solutions on Colorado?"- "Yes." - "Yeah, well, he does know his stuff." LOL - "Knock it off or I’ll start making W-H sounds for words that just have a W." - "You wouldn’t." - "Whatch me." Get married already! - Love how the reveal of Sheldon's secret was handled. "I’m sorry if you think less of me." - "I don’t." - And personally I find the scenario rather believable. It fits his psychological profile with his other issues like his OCD (both conditions are often linked). Plus, in the past we've seen his mother sent him boxes with all sorts of stuff from his childhood so we can infer this obsession to keep everything started back then in Texas. And when he got new stuff during the show like the red Alienware laptop it was often after his old stuff was stolen so it's not like we've ever seen him actively get rid of the old laptop, for example. - I love how Amy offers her help if he ever wants it - a lovely contrast to the earlier closure episode showing how she's grown since then and a better understanding of him. Likewise, I love how Sheldon tries to prove to her and himself that he maybe he can do it in baby steps. And while he may not have gotten rid of the golf ball he threw away the box which is at least something. Maybe the ziplock bag with the ziplock bags will be next. lol - "I’m glad I told you about the storage unit." - "Well, I feel closer to you now." - "Oh, I feel closer to you, too." AWWWWW <3 - And then they trolled all of us with the ending. GDI show, why do you hate me?? It's hilarious though, so I forgive you, show! LOL 9x20: - Amy effortlessly talks Sheldon into going to that cabin in the woods. She knows him so well! Hahaha! - "Never have I ever completely rocked my girlfriend’s world in bed." - "Amyyyy." - "You know the rules. Drink!" And his little smirk before he drinks! LOL I see you, Sheldon. - THE TAG IS UTTER PERFECTION! <3 9x23: - JFC, Sheldon... Kick his ass, Amy! - "You know, just when I think we’re making progress in our relationship, we revert to our old patterns where thoughts and feelings go unexpressed." A fault confessed is half redressed, eh? Now please find a way to talk to Sheldon properly, girl! - "Amy, that action will never be repeated, and that’s a promise." This better be the end of this kind of nonsense! - I like how after Meemaw's visit was such a disaster Beverly and Amy go along wonderfully. (Same with Mary in 9x24.) General Observations: - The "Sexual Sheldon" meme we had here on the forum in early S9 was the best and the rewatch just brought it all back. The words that are suddenly falling out of his mouth! OMG And it's such a distinctive little running gag that clicks in with 8x24. Before that those kind of comments would be more about how Sheldon doesn't want any or isn't ready, yet. "You can't keep it in your space-pants, can you?" for example. But with the end of S8/the beginning of S9 he starts being upset about Amy not wanting to continue the make-out ("bye bye kissy-face!"), is constantly worried that Amy might search another guy to have sex with, in that angry FwF video he's basically telling at her that he was first in line to invade her southern borders, and later when he attempts to find another date part of the reasoning for turning her down was that he was not interested in "coitusing" her - all of that together points to a very sexually frustrated Sheldon who really had the hots for Amy the whole time. With the developments in S8 I'm pretty certain that on their anniversary he was ready for more, or at least at the verge of being ready (that "Anyway..."). So naturally, after they reconciled he'd seek out the first best opportunity to check that one off his list. - The less fun meme on here during early S9 was how we never got to see Amy's perspective on the breakup and I've always been of the opinion that it's poppycock. If anything, every time we had Amy on screen was her updating us about how she deals with the breakup - be it either explaining how she feels about it, doing something for herself, or later how she's progressing with her dating attempts. Her interactions with Sheldon during that time speak volumes. Like, what more do you need??? I really don't get that complaint. - Anyway, in terms of character development they've made wonderful progress this season, individually and as a couple. Obviously, they both had to deal with a lot of hurt and anger due to their breakup. They both had to learn the hard way not to take the other for granted and that their actions have consequences. But at the end of it all they came out with a new apreciation of each other and their unique bond: - For Amy it's the quirky sides she missed a lot, like the time they spend together and playing silly games cause she doesn't have that kind of connection with anybody else. Subsequently she seems to be more accepting, supportive and gentle with Sheldon while trying a more honest communication. That doesn't mean that she'll accept his bad behaviour though and there are moments in the season where she just needs to vent in frustration. And I think it's a more healthy way to deal with that instead of bottling everything up. - For Sheldon it's that he's constantly shown worrying about the typical romance aspects of the relationship - like sex (see above) or marriage (the ring), not to mention all those hippie-dippie feelings that he tried to suppress for the longest time. So then when his epiphany comes it's all about how he's now able to love and willing to embrace it completely. And boy does he embrace it! Even beyond their very physical reunion he's more attentive, generous and plain nice towards Amy. He's more open about his feelings and he shares his secrets with her. Sure, he isn't perfect and there'll probably always be times when he messes up, but he really improved his behaviour. And just in general he's become more social in that he desperately wants to be more included now (something Amy went through in past seasons) and overall he seems to be genuinely happy for once. So yeah, with all that said our cuties are in a good place and I can't wait for S10 to start! Edited August 3, 2016 by April
Jonny
Excellent Season 9 review April and good timing with Season 10 around the corner! Interesting point in particular about the Spock Resonance and a change in Sheldon's behavior post that episode. You are right I think he did change a bit and perhaps did take Leonard's comments to heart about instead of using tv characters or ones in fiction it's time he focused on the real people in his life. I think we saw numerous examples of him wanting to spend time with people like Raj for example in the telescope room and spending time with Bernie. I think that combined with where his life was with Amy at that point I do think he grew up a bit. The only other point I will add is that that first part of the season was and is still tough for me to watch seeing my two favorite characters hurting and displaying it in different ways but I also think it brought out some fantastic acting from Mayim and Jim and it also produced some very good writing. In particular that run from episode 9-11 is a really strong set of episodes of a high quality and up there with some of the best work they have ever done. Looking forward to future season recaps from you. Edited August 3, 2016 by Jonny83

Compare to 9x03 were they literally had to kidnap him to go onto the bachelor party road trip. Absolutely agree, Jim and Mayim did some of their best work this season thanks to some really wonderfully written stories. <

Everything will fall into place once he commits to her.' So...Nobel fine, but after Amy! I agree, but I really hope they don't make him choose between a scientific achievement and Amy. That would be very very selfish and cruel. And cliche. The 2 things can go hand in hand. We need to remember that they both have passion for science as much as they have passion for each other and would support each other in achieving their dreams, not hinder Edited August 3, 2016 by serena_nyc1995
Desdemona
thank you for making all these very detailed reviews april, i really appreciate the efforts you put in every review! season 9 was such a rollercoaster for us! we all felt and suffered with our beloved couple. i have watched the whole season 9 as well, except one scene that i've refused to watch, since i heard about it here. You know what I'm talking about, right? The scene that should not be named? LOL I always close my eyes and hum or I just skip it, so I don't have to see it. I know this sounds silly, but I just don' t want to turn it around in my mind, so I deny its existence. Anyway, I'm glad, that they have passed the break up and that it made them stronger. I hope that they keep progressing more than regressing. I know there will be episodes where they Fall back to old patterns, but as long as they learn their lesson about it, I see it as development for their relationship. It would be interesting to see Amy making a mistake and apologizes and Sheldon clearly enjoying it, but then he hugs her and: "It' s ok, I know that you are not free of errors, but I love you anyway." thank you for making all these very detailed reviews april, i really appreciate the efforts you put in every review! season 9 was such a rollercoaster for us! we all felt and suffered with our beloved couple. i have watched the whole season 9 as well, except one scene that i've refused to watch, since i heard about it here. mirs1
Thank you @April for the review, I'm shamefully behind with my re-watch, LOL!! I like the fact that, as you said, watching the episodes back to back gives more sense to everything. From your review it looks like in S. 9 what makes Shamy unique sparked so bright. After the very dark first half of the season, we got a lot of goofy Skype-calls, FwF, the tag in the Cabin episode, all the things that made me fell in love with my ship. Anyway, the first half of the season gave also the possibility to the two characters and to the couple to grow, they are not perfect, of course, and sometimes both of them return to the old patterns, but they are in a very good place right now. I also like that this season IMO we got the deepest insight in Sheldon's mind ever, sometimes I think this season was kind of a psychotherapy for him; he realized some of his coping mechanisms weren't as successful has he thought and tried to change them, he spoke about his childhood traumas with birthdays, he admitted his hoarding issues, we knew about his synesthesia, and of course he decided by his own, with no pressure whatsoever, he was ready for sex. Funnily enough, Amy is involved in a way or the other in almost all those epiphanies. I'm so ready for S. 10!
cassidyeden
I know I haven't posted here in a while but hi again! Almost that time again for a new season!!!! Can't wait! Does anybody know when the first taping of Season 10 is? Someone mentioned the table read is next week... Does this mean we will get Bill Prady's usual teaser pic of the script cover?
