[Spoilers] Shamy: Season 10

The bathroom scene definitely makes it into The Locomotion Reverberation. That's the episode we saw before the taping Tuesday. Hilarious. Sheldon follows Amy into the bathroom to read her the train museum activities lol. And the end scene with Amy's fantasy? Hot and also so funny. When Sheldon pours water over himself in slow motion the audience was hooting and clapping lol.

I'm embarrassed to ask - but at the same time really wondering - has Jim's hard work paid off?

Omg, I just finished the episode. We all got excited about how in the sneak peek, Shamy had matching expressions of annoyance at Leonard when he made the jab at Sheldon. Did anyone notice that in the tag they did it AGAIN when Leonard made the comment about Sheldon already being fixed when he found him at the shelter? Like holy crap, are Shamy on the same page or what? It's stinkin' adorable.

By the way, that bedroom scene is my favorite Shamy scene of the season so far. I live and die for these tender, sweet, ILY scenes (8.08 almost killed me. I waited SO LONG for it, it like consumed me, and it's still my favorite Shamy scene ever). Like, I love the kisses and sex and flirtation. But THESE scenes right here are what absolutely do it for me. It's the Dungeons and Dragons scene at the end of season 6 that originally made me obsessed with Shamy. It's like every time the writers give Mayim and Jim these tender scenes they absolutely kill it every single time, and in the subtlest of ways. They just look so helplessly in love with each other. I loved how loving Amy's words were, and how he raised his head to accept her kiss. When he told her he felt the same, I got butterflies. And it's crazy to me how these moments never go into mushy territory, because I really have mushy territory. But Shamy always manage to make it just perfectly heartfelt and understated.

I was confused by Amy's comment about her father.  It did not seem to me it had anything to do with her need to wear eyeglasses.  It seemed she was thinking her own father was likely much like Sheldon, but it also seemed that she was guessing such, as if she knew little to nothing about him.

They say women are attracted to men similar to their fathers.   Did anyone else think this was what she was implying by blaming her father for loving Sheldon just the way he is?

really pleasant Shamy episode, devoid of any godawful sex jokes. And it had some real science ! I really liked how they focused on Sheldon's growth organically , without the need for Sheldon screws up/apologizes narrative. Infact, Sheldon was the one being apologized to LOL , who would have thought that .

both Sheldon and Amy showed real maturity and the kiss on the cheek was cute.

The bedroom scene was a bit sadder than I expected TBH,  but it felt very real and very mature. best exchange-

Amy: I love you exactly the way you are.

Sheldon: I feel the same way about you.

Yeah i thought the same thing,  I am curious about Amy's dad, was he like Sheldon ? she mentions something about him knowing he hurt her feelings(comparing his situation to Sheldon). Oh well, if they plan to introduce him someday, we may find out,

I too wondered if that was what she was implying, or whether it was a joke based on the idea that strangeness in our ways is supposed to be caused by our relationship with our parent of the opposite sex. Perhaps it was a picture of her father's mother that she looked at earlier and it kept her train of thought going ? I wonder if it was the one whose clothes she wore ?

I really enjoyed how Sheldon called Amy out on enjoying the Lenny argument, but my favorite scene was how Amy put a consoling hand on sad Sheldon and Sheldon lifted himself to receive Amy's kiss.  When he told her to put her glasses back on because she looked weird, her return expression was one of shy acceptance that he means it too when he says he loves her for the way she is.

Also, I want to add that I love the way their bedroom is decorated with the pics on the wall.

I adore your post ! I 100 % agree, the bedroom scene was indeed very well acted, heartfelt, subtle , sad but sweet. In fact Jim and Mayim are always excellent in serious scenes. I definitely liked the way you compared it to the D&D scene and  the ILY scene in season 8 . I would add that this is one of my favorite Shamy scenes after the Hallway scene in Veracity Elasticity in season 10 :-D

ETA: would be even better to see Sheldon acting like Amy's support/emotional outhouse/safe space someday.

I think that quite simply. Sheldon feels safest when he is completely alone with Amy. He can say anything without the rear of ridicule.  She is his safe place and I love that.

I thought she was claiming she got her bad eye problems from her father, genetically.  I don't think she was saying her father was as insensative as Sheldon.

She said she was proud of him for reasons that have something to do with her father.  They had moved past the conversation about her eyesight to Sheldon's ability to understand feelings and recognizing he had just hurt hers and then apologized.   Unless I'm missing something, I  thought her reply was in reference to Sheldon reminding her of her father, not inheriting bad eyes from him.

If this theory is accurate, then I am ecstatic.  If better explains why she was so tolerant of Sheldon's pre-breakup behavior and makes it more believable why she loves Sheldon inspite of his idiosyncrasies that sometimes cause hurt feelings.

Lol nothing embarrassing about that! It definitely has. While you can only really see his shoulders and part of his chest, it is very very nice. Super cut. He looks really good.

Yes exactly! The hallway scene in Veracity Elasticity has that same exact impact, I know I gushed endlessly over it when it aired, haha. And the crazy thing is that it's so simple. Jim and Mayim never over-act these scenes. They know exactly how to do them so effectively.

No, I didn't take it that way. She said she was proud that Sheldon realized he just hurt her feelings for reasons that are connected to her father. I interpreted this as she was saying her father used to hurt her feelings, too. Actually, I felt really sad for Amy at that line. I hope that we will know sooner or later what kind of man he is\was. Then she said he should give up to the emotions detector machine because she loves him just the way he is, that is not related to the previous line, IMO.

I loved the bedroom scene too. It's so intimate, and I like that Sheldon can be his true self with Amy. She is there for him, she doesn't mock him as his friends usually do when he expresses his difficulties with emotions, she sees his everyday struggles and supports him. I think Shamy are so connected in this episode. Like @Maddie said, they even have the same facial expressions in some scenes (and I love that those are the scenes where the gang poked fun at Sheldon), they make science together (again!!!) when Amy helps Sheldon in testing the machine, and the bedroom scene is the very reason I like Shamy so much. They are honest with each other and express their feelings and their fears. BTW, the tradition about not really mutual ILYs continues, it was broken just when they made up in 9.10, LOL! Sheldon actually says "I feel the same about you", which is in this context much deeper, because it implies he loves Amy just the way she is (with glasses, also, because otherwise she seems weird, LOL!!!).

Oh...and I adore that Amy still has the MRI on her nightstand!

Shamy were charming this episode! From Amy gawping at Lenny's fight and the emotions detector (LOVED that she was tracking what the machine said as well), to Sheldon scanning her and rebuking her for her hypocrisy in her (totally half-hearted) 'Sheldon, stop enjoying their fight', to her kinda-sorta echoing Sheldon's thumbs down as they left 4a, to Amy making beefloaf because she knows Sheldon doesn't like the non-specificity of meatloaf.

And then the scene in bed, which was really lovely. It's not my favourite this season, but that's also because this season has an insanely high bar. Jim Parsons has been called on to dial up the bigness and blueness of his pretty eyes before on occasion, but my favourite 'Sad Sheldon' moments have always been when he is quiet and bewildered. And I loved Amy just being all 'I WILL FIX THIS'. So much loveliness.

And the mutual 'I love you just the way you are' were delivered with exactly the right blend of solemnity and matter-of-factness. Even Sheldon's 'put your glasses back on', if you like, is a symbolic 'When you say you love me, see me clearly so you know what you are saying'.

And of course - holy shit, the show has acknowledged that Amy was not spontaneously generated in a wool-and-polyester-sweater-factory explosion!

Agree with all of this, it almost had the feeling like Sheldon might propose right enough !!! Oh the feels, Mayim & Jim are so amazing, these tender senses are just brought to life with their chemistry........it was perfection & I can't stop watching !
OMG Jim in next weeks promo pics - swoon !
Plus domestic Shamy gives me such a fabulous happy buzz !!

No, I didn't. Agree with @mirs1 about this. I interpreted it as Amy saying her father used to hurt her feeelings too.

I realy felt sad for Amy and I am glad she now is able to try some hapiness as she shares her life with Sheldon. He is not an easy man for his quirks but he has been changing for his love for her. Amy herself has been changing as she feels loved by Sheldon and by her friends. Shamy's feelings for each other have been a great foundation for both have a chance of building a nice and happy life together as they get each other and feel confortable to face or do anything together. I really loved how this sense of love came up in such heartfelt and warm scene in their bedroom. The way Amy put her hand on Sheldon's back as she conforted him, the way he lifted his head for receiving her kiss was so beautiful and heartfelt, I got teary eyed, couldn't help myself.  Both feel safe, loved and confortable with each other and that has been so well shown this season. After the hallway scene, the last night episode bedroom scene was my favourite! About the ILYs, it really came up better than I thought , if that was possible.  Their looks at each other, the words about they love each other like they are, man, it was intensely beatiful and warm indeed! Bravo, writers!

Then the other details were just great! The domestic bliss ( Amy cooking for Sheldon food he would enjoy it undoubetely, so cute<3) , their faces matching feelings like they shared thoughts , they doing together some science, I am a very happy fan this morning!

Looking foward to seeing more developments about Amy's father. The writers would not give us details and we got nothing later, right? *crossing fingers for more seasons*

Btw, nice touch of Howard to Sheldon about the machine. I really loved they interacting as good friends of many years by now. They mock each other but they are true friends and I love it. :)

Go to work before my boss freaks out, lol!

I haven't yet see the episode but only seeing the gifset of that end scene makes me think this will be one of my favorite Shamy scenes of the season, if not ever. They are just hitting it out of the park every single episode this season, I'm flabbergasted.

I am not a fan of the implications of the father line, tbh. Mostly because if I have to hear (in any show) one more pop-psychology "father/mother backstory" as to why a character is the way they are (I'm looking at you, Agents of SHIELD, too) I am going to scream. And TBBT has done this far too often already. Not to mention, we already heard that her mother was not exactly the nicest woman, to suddenly hear this about a father we haven't even heard mentioned before it's a bit "wait, what?".

But other than that, it's absolutely adorable, heartwarming, deep, touching, and just further testament to how perfect for each other these two characters are (and after some of my downs with this show, I can't believe I can finally say this again with 100% certainty). I agree with Serena that it would be great to see Sheldon comfort Amy for a change now. We haven't seen it in a long time, and we know he can do it (it might have been 5 years, but that cuddle scene in S5 still gives me warm fuzzy feelings).

I'm going to have to watch again - my take on the father line was that Amy was similar to her Dad in that after Sheldon hurt her feelings, she recovers and instead of being mad she is proud of him for realising his mistake ? .....I was wondering if we were going for Amy's mild mannered Dad as appose to fiery Amy's and sometime cruel Mum down the line ?!!

Mmm...Interesting, I hadn't thought about that, it might be also the case! With the vague and often contradictory info we have about her family it's hard to tell. Is her mother the well-meaning but conservative and overprotective woman who told Amy playful lies about puzzles to make her feel better for the fact she had no friends as a child or the awful mother who put her in a closet as a punishment? That might influence the opinion about her father, of course...Did he use to hurt other's people feelings or was he dominated by his wife? We need answers, writers!!!

Fun episode overall, I really enjoyed it. There was comedy but also some sweet and tender moments when trying to address some mature and deep rooted issues.

Loved Shamy in this one, Sheldon especially in an attempt to try and better himself. It's a well established canon/lore that Sheldon has difficulty reading emotions and he finds it incredibly frustrating and stressful (see The Intimacy Acceleration 8.16) so trying to take a proactive approach to try and relieve some of that stress is a good thing. Amy played the supportive girlfriend so well in this one, I think it was a combination of 'Science Amy' finding the whole experiment fascinating lol but also trying to help her boyfriend and that was great to see.

On a side note I really enjoyed Howard in this one as well, he helped Raj try to better himself with the ex girlfriends and he tried to help Sheldon better himself by getting that machine for him.

The bedroom scene was very well done. It had a bit of everything I laughed at the beefloaf comment, but then found it sweet when she went in there when he didn't respond. Might be just me but I got the impression she hasn't seen Sheldon much like that. Sure he has run off before when mad, upset or stressed, (thinking about for example the Prom but she talked to him through the door in that one) but he looked really vulnerable and really upset in this one and I don't think she has seen that side of him much. The discussion they had was so MATURE and SUPPORTIVE but there was a lot of love and tenderness in that scene as well especially with the ILY's. Beautifully acted and written.

Probably not my favorite Shamy scene this season, the Buridan's donkey hallway scene then probably the MRI are my top two but this is still a great one in a season full of great Shamy moments so far.

Sheldon seemed to notice the gags at his expense throughout this episode with the frowns, then I loved the perfectly in sync frown/glare in the tag scene with the group. They had pretty much the same expression lol. I know these gags provide some comedy and they will never leave the show but a large part of me wants Sheldon to stand up for himself at least one time, or both of them though those gags tend to be at his expense.

Best all round episode for a while for me.
