[Spoilers] Shamy: Season 10

I don't even know where to start with this cause Shamy were just perfect in every scene. I love these two so much!!  <3

I really appreciate how sincere the show handled Sheldon's issue here. We saw glimpses of that in the past but usually it's more along the lines of flippant comments for humour (see the car scene in 10x12 for comparison). So to finally have an episode that dives into this a little deeper and doesn't shy away from showing how it's really a struggle for him was very satisfying for me.

I loved how they used the emotion detector - I'm always a sucker for Shamy doing science experiments. And the both of them being a bit gleeful over how well it works in the 4A scene was hilarious. And in general, as others have mentioned, there were so in sync this episode with their reactions to their friends' mocking. Again, I can't help but wonder if one day they'll have enough of that.

The bedroom scene was wonderful. I always love those tender moments when they're allowed to expose their vulnerable side and both Sheldon's frustrations with himself(!) and Amy comforting him were so lovely and heartfelt. I really enjoyed how the ILY and kiss turned out. Hearing Amy say "I love you exactly the way you are." should hopefully put an end to the idea that she just wants him to change or whatever. It also makes such a nice companion scene to the "I like you, quirks and all" from earlier seasons. <3

I'm not sure what to make of Amy's line about her father. Without knowing anything about the man it's hard to make it fit the context. I guess it could simply be a cheap shot at the "daddy issues" trope you see all too often (even in this show) but it's hard to tell.

Sheldon getting an apology was really sweet as well. His "Yes! I don't need an emotion machine. I AM ONE!" cracked me up. LOL

Also, saw the promo for next week - I can't wait for that one!

I'm going to have to watch again - my take on the father line was that Amy was similar to her Dad in that after Sheldon hurt her feelings, she recovers and instead of being mad she is proud of him for realising his mistake ? .....I was wondering if we were going for Amy's mild mannered Dad as appose to fiery Amy's and sometime cruel Mum down the line ?!!

Oh! good take on that line! I didn't think of it this way. To be honest, it still confuses me a bit because I don't really understand what we are meant to take away from it, even in terms of line structure. But I like this interpretation MUCH better.

7x05"I Like you for who you are, quirks and all."     "I Like you, too."

10x15"I love you exactly the way you are ."      "I feel the same way about you."

This is exactly the shamy I ship!

My take on the father line was just to do with Amy's eyesight and her inheriting that from him. Could it be something deeper? I can't rule it out and it wouldn't be the first time writers have a bit of ambiguous dialogue in there with a different meaning or something that could be expanded on at a later date. Having watched it a few more times just now it could certainly be seen as something ambiguous.

But I think in this case it was just opening dialogue= the eye thing and the closing dialogue= was from her father. When you have two conversations kind of going on at the same time it can become muddled. And the writers on this show do that a lot i.e. two conversations at the same time!

I think ultimately she was using it as a way to relate, Amy seems to be a master of bringing up situations from her own life that she feels do relate to what someone else is going through. She was kind of saying to Sheldon we all have flaws, and using the eyesight as a way of seeing things differently and trying to relate to Sheldon's inability to see or perceive certain things. Like things can be blurry to her and she finds it difficult sometimes to see things, Sheldon finds it a bit blurry and difficult trying to read people. If that makes sense?

She loves him the way he is, that's the way I saw it all anyway.

My thoughts about the episode it that was so lovely for Shamy! Oh my good!  ❤ ❤
- The machine plot was fun, I like when Howard interacts with Sheldon and Amy, they are so funny together.
-  The SHAMY scene was just the best, how they are so good in this kind of drama/romantic scenes? Jim and Mayim are so good, how they transmit us their feelings, I cried a little and that kiss was ALL!, so much feelings in that tiny cheek kiss! / This scene goes to my top 3 favourites Shamy´s scenes! *Third place*
- The Amy´s father mention, yeahh! I want more of her family, IMO I feel sad for her and I tought that he is/was mean to her.
- I didn´t want to talk about the Lenny scene with them because it´s so boring this always fight-plot, I just hate one of them every episode, the last one was Penny overacting about a no-romantic Leonard (seriously?) and this one Leonard just so stupid, give them a baby, break up them or fix it them, I don´t care, but stop this plot, writters!

In resume I like a lot, I´m gonna watch several more times and the  best is that give us this Gif that is everything!

The way it played out I have a hard time connecting that line about her father to her eye-sight. I mean, the rest of your post how she used her eye sight as a way to relate to Sheldon's flaw? I agree.

But she dropped that comment about her father in after Sheldon apologised to her for saying something rude and her acknowledging his progress and that she's proud of him. I'm not sure how her eye-sight would fit into that if that's what the comment about her father was supposed to get across.

As said, I don't really know what to make of that line. It's the first time her father has ever been mentioned so without any information about him I have a hard time figuring out the context and the line is just hanging there with nothing much to attach it to.

Watched the episode once this morning and that was my immediate thoughts, just watched the scene several times on that well known tube place and I would change my mind and say it's actually very ambiguous. In fact I don't know why they put that in there it doesn't make much sense at all. Unless they are going to expand on that i.e. her father storyline at some point?

Sometimes they put deliberately ambiguous stuff in there, sometimes they make mistakes and sometimes they can too clever for their own good. We shall see...

It makes much sense at all! The scene was beautifully done as they confess their unconditional love for each other and that was powerful. Shamy against the world but it is always worth because they have each other. Gosh, so many feelings these two make me feel! *sigh*

yeah the syntax of that line was super confusing to me. Does it mean that amy's dad was bad at reading people and she learnt to be proud of him for when he managed it? Does it mean that AMY was bad at reading people and her DAD was proud of her when she managed to successfully figure out what someone felt? Does it mean that SOMEONE was bad at reading people and amy learnt from her dad to be appreciative when they.made the effort?

who can say. I am glumly leaning towards the first explanation because this sort of 'because DADDY/MOMMY!' Freudianism is a perennial favourite if the show.

but honestly that structure is so garbled that I can't say. All we can glean is that amy has, or had, a father, with whom she has, or had, some form of relationship over some period of time.

which is still infinitely more than we knew before so yay? Otherwise I had a vision of two mad scientists with a Miss Marple obsession disconsolately poking around a cage in a lab saying 'but where did Specimen AX97 go?'

And a grandmother...let's not forget that the writers have told us that Amy had a grandmother with a tendency to turkey neck! It's a lot to process about Amy's family in just one episode!

They have a blank canvas in regards to Amy''s family, even more so now that we know she had/has a father. I would like to think they are really going to explore it all at some point, most likely if they get engaged from a storyline perspective as it would make sense with a build up to a wedding.

As usual I love your worded take on Amy's parentage lol

Me too. What I feel from these Amy's relatives tips that suddenly we have a few in one episode when we knew so litle for years is the engangement might be in horizon. We have not sure yet about if will be more seasons and in the way writers are doing things, the possibility of that ring come up again is strong but as writers love ambiguity as things might be open but not open at all at same time , it might be just writers playing around with the idea of introducing more from Amy's background soon.

More seasons or not, I would like we could know more from Amy's background as she and Sheldon are in a serious relationship and it would be nice if we know more about from where  Amy is coming from about her familie values and not only from the perspective of her the complains she had for her quirkyness when she was younger.

And I agree with who says it is about time we could see Amy in trouble or stress about something and Sheldon would be able to help her,  to confort her. These characters have grown so much since they reunited and it would be really nice we saw how improved Amy has been some of the things she needed for socialize more and for bond more emotionally with the love of her life.

I have a good feeling for we have at least a season 11 but if it might  not happen, I just wish the writers give everything shamy need to be happy together,  happy in their social circle and in their careers. Sometime is hard to tell so much in 19 minutes episodes but even so, writers have been doing a wonderful job this season with shamy, have you thought how much they have accomplished in 14 episodes? So much, we are lucky shippers indeed. :)

BTW, I just love shamy apartment decoration, specially their bedroom. That MRI scan framed on Amy's nightstand is really warm to my shipper 's heart!

We finally hear something about her father, this has to be some sort of build up leading to a shamy wedding. Hopefully once they are engaged, we will start seeing Amy's family in person for once, other than her mother on a skype call.

Amy is the last of the main 7 to have her family even formally introduced in person.

Curious if her mother will be recast, since she was only seen on skype so so long ago.

They always surprise us, but I wonder if they get engaged in the season final, it not earlier. Might be 10.23, but it all depends on the show being renewed or not. If we get a season 11, might even be the cliffhanger of season 10? I would hate to be tortured with a cliffhanger waiting until season 11 for the proposal, with teasing it happening in the final all episode.

Something I really loved about the bedroom scene was that Sheldon didn't respond to Amy's " I love you exactly the way you are " straight away while lying with his back towards her but instead waited until he had sat up and was looking directly at her before saying " I feel the same way about you".

To me it felt like he was trying to convey to her the depth of his feelings for her and the sincerity of his words and to leave her with absolutely no doubt about how much he loves her.

Good Lord..these two will be the death of me!! :-)

I second this! If he had said it still laying down, it would have had lesser impact I think. Oh man, these two.

On a different but not unrelated topic, how yummy were Sheldon's biceps as he was laying down?

lol noticed how Sheldon slightly lifts/move his head when Amy goes for the kiss on the forehead? So she can plant it better lol. You clearly see him being receptive to it because he puts his head back down in the original position before getting up.

The guy knows what he is doing lol

On a side note I have seen several reviews where the reviewer thought the ring might come out at that moment lol. So it's not just us on the forum/shippers wondering when it will happen.

Oh I didn't thought about the ring in that moment, could have been yes, but I´m more like the proposal is going to be something big, like an entire episode around.

I noticed and loved the head lift - this scene is just amazing !
I'm also a sucker for the look Sheldon gives Amy once he sits up to tell her he feels the same way about her .
Yes , it really would have been an amazing proposal scene !
