Agree and Sheldon will wear it all the time proudly as he is so in love with Amy 

Rewatching s910 because it is running on tv and because I have not ever had enough of shamy reunion!

The ily s moment was something really powerful and so were the kisses , their words to each other, their smiles at each other.... *sigh*

No matter how many times I have seen shamy reunion or the opening night episode, both invoke powerfully  heartfelt feelings in my heart

My husband is in construction and because of how dangerous it could be in his line of work, I told him he could take it off and wear on special occasions if he felt he needed to but his ring is called a "comfort fit" ring where the edges are smoothed out so it doesn't get caught as easily.  After almost 16 years of marriage, he's never had to take it off.

Glad you found a good solution, that's interesting . Allan ( Hubbie) has his hands inside engines a lot of the time - so too tight a squeeze for anything !! Plus he once knew someone who got his ring caught while working in an engine & the outcome was nasty so he's super careful !
I'm sure none of this would effect Sheldon though ! Unless it's to do with trains haha !!

I took my wedding band off when pregnant five years ago because swelled fingers and never put it on again so people have to trust my word I'm married LOL.

on the other hand, amy farrah cooper, Amy farra fowler-cooper or amy farra fowler, what do you think?

As fan of preparedness , Sheldon would have his wedding band with the edges smoothed out too if he started to work on train engines more, lol! I think he might get a new hobby after next episode. And Amy might get happily a new outfit for their cosplay time!

Hello fellow Shamy shippers!  Finally had the guts to join this forum, though I am a long time lurker.  I thoroughly enjoy reading all your posts about Shamy and your insightful thoughts about the episodes.  Here's looking forward to exchanging thoughts and ideas with all of you or simply enjoying all of the Shamy goodness Season 10 is giving us!

PS. I'm not really a high techy-techy person, so still need to learn a lot about navigating this forum. Also I'm an ESL user...

I'm team "Amy Farrah Fowler" - it just rolls so nicely off the tongue! LOL

But beyond that there are some other good reasons to keep it like the fact that Amy is  working in academia and the question of changing your name is actually an issue for many female scientists. Your name is your reputation cause that's how your body of work is identified in the field.

I also think that could be an interesting topic for an episode cause Shamy are the only academic couple in the show (Bernadette doesn't work in academia but a private company) so seeing them agreeing that they both keep their names as is for professional reasons would be really nice. <3

I've been thinking about the Shamy engagement ( ok maybe thinking is the wrong word..obsessing is probably more accurate!! ) and wondering what the writers may be thinking in terms of when it will happen with them not knowing if this will be the final season or not. With only eight more episodes to tape if it happens within the next couple of tapings that still leaves time to organise the wedding ( I would've thought they'd want a Shamy wedding before the show ends ) without it being too rushed. If they find out the show is being renewed the engagement won't change things much and the wedding can be put off till season 11.

Whatever happens I need to hear Sheldon say the words " Amy Farrah Fowler will you marry me? " like I need air!!lol

I'm also in the Amy Farrah Fowler camp! Scientists are recognizable in the academic community by their last names, and I don't know a single female scientist which has changed it (at least at work) after she got married. Even simply adding Cooper to her surname would cause Amy a lot of troubles with the databases which are currently used in Academia to collect and index all the scientific works. Trust me, as a person who has a pretty complicated family name which get messed up all the time, I have to struggle with those databases on regular bases, and it's a living hell. I get that the hyphen Fowler-Cooper or Cooper directly would be more appealing to some fans, but if the writers want to "get the science straight" they should go with Fowler. Anyway, full disclosure, I don't really get the whole change of surname stuff, for cultural reasons. In my Country that simply doesn't happen, since the seventies women keep their own family name after they get married and, apart some elderly one, we happily comply to that.

I'm obsessed with that too for a long time, and I´m pretty sure that they aren´t going to miss a wedding episode, no way, so the proposal need to be soon so if it´s not season 11 they can have time to organice all well. 

If this is the last season the last episode is going to be shamy wedding, Penny says she is pregnant and the elevator get fix. 

If it´s a renewal, I´m pretty sure that they are going to keep the wedding to season 11, that´s better because I would love to see how they preparing it, Amy´s buying the dress with the girls, a bachelor´s party (Imagine the boys bring Sheldon to Las Vegas with kripke, Bert...) so funny episode LOL 

C´mon writters give us that!

Here in the states, most women take the husbands name but if they are known by their own last name with their profession they either hyphenate it (Fowler-Cooper) or she'll legally change it to her husbands name and use it for personal stuff and continue using her own last name professionally.  

We had a show called Growing Pains and the moms name was Maggie Seaver.  She was a news reporter or something and for work, continued using her own name, Maggie Malone.

I think none of us is prepared for the show to end. That's why I believe so much we will have at least one more season for we have all things needed to happen in shamy's lives yet. 

Great point about the surnames, guys. I was only thinking from a fan's perspective who thinks it is lovely their surnames hiffened and I was not thinking about the impact on  science  stuff they do . As I have a pretty complicated family name  I think I won't ever change mine. Because personally I dont think a woman needs to change her name because it is bonded to a SO. Our surname is something we get so earlier in life that is our true identity, you know. An addition as a person get married is only a detail imo.

Just to follow the current discussion and add my two pennyworth my prediction would be that she will take his surname in some form should they get married, most likely hyphenated in some way. I just get the impression Amy would want to do that, it would go back to her young womanhood days being lonely wondering if she would ever settle down and shouting from the rooftops/to the world 'look I am married to Sheldon Cooper'.

But for work, so when she is doing research and producing papers and studies I would imagine she will keep her current name for that. A lot of women actually keep their current surname for work but for everything else they use their married name. For example in the legal industry e.g. lawyers who get married later it can be commonly seen. I don't know how renowned she is in her world (would love it if the writers would explore that more, can't go wrong with Science Amy), but Sheldon has made references in the past (I think I remember vaguely some) that she is highly respected in her field. It would make sense for work purposes to keep her name as is.

Anyway this is all assuming they get married on the show.

Yeah, I gotta say the longer they wait with the engagement the more hopeful I feel about S11. Assuming they want to milk all those possible plots as much as they did with Shamy already this season it would easily give them enough material for the future. In fact there's so much story potential that they'd be running out of time if S10 was the last and they want to check off certain boxes on whatever to-do list they have. So if they were working with the assumptions that S10 is all they have I feel like they would push some developments a little harder, I guess??? Like, Shamy are currently getting one fluffy little plot after another but there isn't really a sense of urgency right now to get them closer to matrimony - which is what I would expect if S10 were the definite end.

Anyway, that might of course be a very deceptive feeling of mine. For all we know they could get engaged and married within a short time frame, or not get married on the show at all. Who knows!?

They not get married on the show is possible. But I would be sad if it did not happen on screen. I think fans deserved to see Amy and Sheldon exchanging vows, the wedding bands and to see Amy in a lovely dress and wearing her tiara. I know it is not granted but I will be dreaming of that until last episode of the show, if it might not happen before.
