Loved this episode, thought it was great with lots of laughs , obviously enjoyed Amy's "day dream" !!!!!!!! Boy Jim/Sheldon are looking good ! *fans self*
BUT - the scene in the car , made me feel a bit sad for Amy, HOWEVER I do believe that this is us building up to proposal !!!!!! So while I felt bad for her, we all know it's coming, it's been nearly two seasons since the ring first appeared .........COME ON writers, they are so clever spinning this out, having us all waiting.........it's coming !
With regard to the sex once a year - I'm in camp whatever floats your boat as long as you both agree, and they seem to, yes Amy day dreams about him and finds him sexy etc but no one said she's unhappy with they way things are just now, as others have said though all this points to the possibility the writers are going to bring this topic up again, I'm thinking in a can't keep their hands of each other way.......horny Sheldon would be comedy gold

That was the funniest episode in terms of comedy we had in a while for me, I had many LOL moments, at a very ungodly hour in my Country, so I might have waked my neighbors up!  Obviously the tag was, well...worth the wait, it was sexy and hilarious at the same time, it didn't play totally OOC (if Sheldon all in a sudden turned into a sexy model that would be pretty odd), but at the same time it was the hottest thing I've seen in the show. Thanks to [mention=5408]luminous[/mention] and to all of you that today will fill this thread with gifs and pics, there is never too much shirtless Sheldon!
The scene in the parking lot played out much more serious than I thought for Amy; she seems really sad during it and worried that marriage is not in Sheldon's plans. That's such a delicate matter that I can understand it's difficult for her even broaching the subject. The ball in entirely in Sheldon's court now, since Amy already  knows he has a ring, she obviously thinks that if he hasn't given it to her, that means he doesn't feel it's time yet, so  it would be insensitive (and painful) for her to talk about it. I guess that was probably one of the reasons why the writers let Amy know about the ring. Hadn't she known about it, it would have been more plausible for her to do something to move her relationship forward, even proposing herself...That writing choice made all options but waiting for Sheldon to finally decide (or the writes decide, in this case) unavailable. Anyway, that scene was the only sad moment in the episode.
As for the once a year thing, I agree with [mention=23280]Judith[/mention], I have been waiting for a year for this agreement to change, and spent the second half of S. 9 reading the veiled sexual innuendos in the episodes as a hint that the writers were going to address the subject. But they didn't...so I have decided I am not going to do the same thing this season and I have more or less come to terms with it. It's not my favourite thing in the show, and frankly I would prefer that, if the writers consider it one of the many quirks Shamy have and don't want to change it, they don't mention it so often. Anyway, I've seen the promo of the next episode and I'm pretty curious to see Amy's reaction to the whole situation. I am under the impression that she is ok with the agreement (a daydream about your boyfriend is not any indication you are sexually frustrated, IMO), so it would be interested in seeing how it plays out.

To me, the saddest part is knowing that he was thinking about proposing before the big breakup. I understand that the break had to happen so that Sheldon can evolve as a boyfriend, but it's so so sad that it put a damper on that for him. She though he wasn't committed when in reality he was. Anyway, hopefully she gets that ring soon. Loving all the shamy goodness this season

New prediction for engagement...I can't sleep so I was thinking about TBBT. I think we will see an engagement on Sheldon's Birthday. FEB 26. Tonight's episode was truely about aging. All three women upset in car were upset because -Penny not feeling young, Amy thought she would be engaged by this point. Bernie upset over feeling tired when new baby. All of this is age related. Leonard has been aging and taking less care of himself as evidence by countless Penny remarks over last several shows. Even the guys project was somewhat time related. Sheldon was talking about having something tangible. Amy would certainly be tangible for him at this point. I think between now and the 26th? Will be showing improvement to Lenny relationship and having them announce on Sheldon b day.

I usually see the episode around 6:00 am and it is not easy to keep my laughs low for my neighbours 's sake , especially in very funny episodes like this one,lol! What a love for a show make fans do!

I love how the Sheldon's plotline turned to be funny in this episode, he being into engeeniring stuff for his love of trains was great. The charlie brown fake equation was hilarious and so spot on, Sheldon is   more relaxed as person but never loose his ability of science genius, which I love !

The tag scene was perfect  , very hot and funny! Mayim's face was priceless, I just love how Amy always react so spontaneaus about everything, that part she almost broke the accelerator cracked me up, lol! And Jim is very in shape! If he continue to be more buff  ( which I would prefer he not, hehe) , Amy really would need to hide Sheldon in her closet from women workers of Caltech!

Btw, thanks so much to the nice and generous @luminous for the gifs! You are a great member of this tbbt community, we appreciate very much you take your time for shamies have quickly a few gifs to gush over about

I agree mostly about the once in a year thing with @mirs1  and @Judith.  For what we have seen and read, including promo for next week, Amy doesnt seem frustrated with their present sexual situation. Imo be able to daydream about her boyfriend is not signal of any frustration either but a very healthy  sign of a woman is so much in love with her man. Maybe once in a year is realy their thing and just because most of people do different it doesnt mean shamy wont be able to be happy with their sex drive . I rather prefer the subject was not mentioned in a mock way though as it has been in some situations but maybe writers have the intention of it being discussed by the couple  someway, even in next episode the discussion is more about the private side of these things that should be keep for themselves as a couple. We will have to wait for see more about how they really feel about  their sex frequency I guess.

The cry of Amy in car was sad. It is natural she could feel Sheldon might have forgoten about marriage by now and then it was a great move from writers Amy found about the ring earlier as she knows her boyfriends has a special pace to handle with some stuff but his intention of marrying her was in his mind and that had been important to Amy know about it. I believe we might get some news about that ring soon, as the car scene in this episode might be a built up scene in some way. Shamy have been working every episode especially this season for things reach the right level for they get into next big step, the engagement and I think the writers have been  including the right stuff at right time for they naturally get there. We are anxious for see that in some level. I am not much anxious because they eventually go there and everything they have lived through until that day might come was necessary for they grew up as person and as couple. And that make me feel secure about their future as couple, you know.

And last but not least ( by now I have to go to work, lol!)  there is a microscope in 4B! I just love to daydream of Amy working at home until late as Sheldon prepare her a nice mug of tea and he makes her company while he read a comic book in couch or he works in some report from gyroscope project in his laptop. That microscope was indeed my favourite object in 4B this week

First things first: Thank you, @luminous, for the excellent gif delivery service!! 10/10, would book again!

As for the episode itself: My, that was fun!!

I laughed so hard at the whole subplot with Sheldon's enthusiasm about trains reaching a whole new level. His train mania has always been super adorable to me so his reaction to him getting the ultimate train experience was quite endearing from the Shelnard hug to excitedly telling Amy about all the cool things they/he will get to do to tinkering with a real engine. Oh Shelly! LOL Also, him seeing right through Leonard's trick and drawing the rest of Charlie Brown's face was super funny.

On Amy's side of things I found her interactions with Sheldon in 4B really funny. I love seeing them all domestic in their home. With the girls on their night out she looked so great!! And I also loved her suggestion with the renaissance thing and the bit with the bra - classic Amy! <3

With regards to the whiny scene: Yeah, it played out more serious than expected but at the same time I feel it's really just brought on by Penny's complaints and Amy trying to be supportive by pointing out she has it worse which certainly made her feel bad in the process. Also, it's been about a year since she found out about the ring so I guess it's fair of her to wonder what's up with that. But the crying part really felt a bit overdone for the sake of the joke about Bernie lactating.

Last but not least: THE TAG OMG!! It was so so hilarious! Especially with Amy's reactions - Mayim makes the funniest faces. And I don't know how Jim does it but somehow he manages to make this funny and sexy at the same time. Amazing. Not gonna lie though...

We're getting some idea of the timeline. Penny has been married two years. Bernadette said Howard had gone back to work. Halley still sounds like a small baby and isn't weaned yet. So it's May ?  They're much further on with the guidance project than the predicted three years. So will the next discussion be about how Howard can give up work when Bernadette goes back ? Will that lead onto  Amy and Sheldon seriously talking about the practicalities of what they want to do about kids rather than vaguely speculating ? That's bound to lead on to discussing getting married and moving to a bigger place. Will that mean then that the big bang is over, the world is developing and evolution for our gang is complete ?

Really fun episode, thought the Sheldon/Leonard/Howard storyline was good but the girls one was probably the best storyline. Two different types of storylines as the girls one was a bit more serious and mature compared to the lighter more fun guys one.

- Enjoyed Sheldon's reaction to the gift and a bit of Shelnard bromance going on. Enjoyed the lab scenes overall including the colonel turning up and wanting to go with Sheldon's idea to make it smaller.

- Like others have said great to see more of the domestic side of Shamy in 4B. Also great to notice a few more of their items around the place like the periodic table shower curtain etc.

- Loved their attempt to try and trick Sheldon into solving the equation, reminded me a bit of some of their interactions that have been lost a bit this season. I thought Sheldon would see right through their attempt, but it was hilarious that he saw the charlie brown thing lol. Well he did complete it Leonard LOL!

- Great to see the girls try and go on a night out, I thought Amy looked beautiful in that dress. Still very much in her style but a bit more modern, lol at the bra joke and reveal later in the episode.

- On the engagement thing I saw absolutely no fucking problem whatsoever with her comments on it. It's totally understandable that she thinks about getting engaged because she knows about the ring and has for some time. It's natural to wonder, you have got to remember that when most people do get engaged it's usually a big surprise. I would say the vast majority of engagements take place when the other doesn't know it's coming, but Amy does know and I kind of wish she didn't in a way. I think with the way the conversation was driven and how it played out it was largely because Amy was trying to relate to Penny by saying "We all have our worries and there are times when we don't like the way life is progressing or perhaps more importantly the speed of it". BUT there was some real sadness there as well, she's wondering and I think anyone would in her situation - knowing about the ring for some time and it still hasn't happened. It will happen though, don't worry Amy!

- The tag scene, well I hope some of the shippers in our community have recovered LOL! I thought it was absolutely hilarious! Amy's reaction just killed me with laughter. Already I see talk about it being wrong that Amy dreamt that, I mean seriously?! Such over analyzing bullshit to me, there is no problem whatsoever in Amy having a bit of a sexy day dream about her boyfriend the person she loves. Hell if Sheldon was to have a dream like that about Amy (actually writers I think you should!) I would have no problem with it. Ignore all this rubbish about suppressed desire and any other Freudian like crap, it's bloody natural to have thoughts like that! Zero problem with it and would say the same if any of the characters had a dream about their partner.

On to the trailer for next week's, wow I hope it turns out that there is more fun to it when you actually watch it because my heart went out to Amy in that promo. The writers prove once again they can giveth and then can taketh away, her ego boosted by the comments made by Bert at his party and now she looks absolutely mortified and hurt about some of the personal stuff out there about their relationship. Sheldon, boy did you fuck up in this one!

Oh my what an episode! I loved it so much! My heart still skips a beat when I see the Shelnard hug. I loved how Sheldon rocked Leonard a bit, while he was holding him. He made him so happy. I was torn in the car scene between feeling Bad for Amy, because she seems to loose faith about getting married and on the other hand I want to ask her: "You know that we are talking about Sheldon? Do you really think he could forget what he promised you a while ago? You know that he has an eidetic memory, right? Relax and trust him, he will propose, he's just waiting for the right moment. But when he does you can be sure that he means it and won't run away or regret it. In the mean time appreciate and enjoy what you have: you have an attractive man who loves you unconditionally, you live together finally, you have friends, you are a well reputated scientist, you are the most popular girl on campus, etc. 

And last but not least, my two favorite moments: Sheldon super excited about working on a train engine. (But please Sheldon let it check by Howard before you install it in a train, I want you to return safely!) My favorite lines from Sheldon: " Something clicked. Then it clacked. It clickety clacked and here we are! Woo Woo!" This was my reaction when I saw the tag. Boy this was so sexy and hilarious! I couldn't decide if I should be aroused or if I should crack up laughing Because of Amy's facial expressions. So I was all like "Wow, he's hot" and "hahaha". I think I'm loosing my mind. LOL

I don't think it's May. It's February. Penny's 2 years line is probably meant more general - it's 2017 and they got married in 2015 so that makes roughly two years.

Getting the maths done is only step one of making the guidance system. Now that Sheldon has figured out the numbers and improved their initial idea, so much so that the military guy wants that instead, Leonard's and Howard's job is just getting started. Though if they stick to the arrangement from the episode they might let Sheldon help. Who knows how long that part of the project actually needs.

Whoops I misread the taping schedule. That should be the episode they taped last week, the one with the comic con plot. So no b-day for Sheldon this year.

How do you get May?  She was born mid December.  This is the USA where maternity and paternity leave is only 6-8 weeks.

If Amy doesn't even know whether he still thinks about it, they've obviously not talked about it at all. He's comfortable where he is for now. He sees Penny and Leonard, whom he nagged until they got engaged and then married, falling out a lot. He sees Leonard's and Koothrapalli's parents divorced. His own parents would probably have divorced over his father's adultery if he'd lived. We know his parents' relationship was bothering him as recently as soon after they moved into 4B.  The only still-married parents we've seen with adult children are Penny's. Living in close quarters with Amy must have made it sink in to his brain that marriage is about more than whether the missus will let him watch a particular TV series. Amy might not have given a lot of thought to the idea that he's afraid with all his issues that it won't work out if he takes things to the next level too soon .

Actually Leonard and Howard have already built a smaller prototype of the gyroscope and showed it to Colonel Williams in the episode, but he liked the idea of an even tinier one suggested by Sheldon's maths on the board. So I think they were really ahead of schedule with respect to the two-years commitment they had and, from their reactions to Colonel Williams requests, it couldn't take them too long to adapt the cooling system they have found for the gyroscope to the new version of it.

Kinda like dangling a carrot in front of us and snatching it away right before we grab it and laughing hysterically and saying, "Nope!  Can't have it!"  I'm on the verge of not even wanting the damn carrot anymore and telling them they can now take it and shove it up their ass.

Oh that's what that was? I thought they wanted to get Sheldon out of their hair so that they can finally do their part of the job and start working on the real thing. The part in the episode was a bit confusing. whoops

Probably there are still details that need to be fixed, and that's why Leonard and Howard want Sheldon out of their way, but that golden little tube seemed to me the tinier version of the gyroscope and they said Colonel Williams it worked, so I think they have done a big part of the work.

Anyway, 4000 $ for a present, Leonard is the best friend ever! LOL!

I think it was a bit of both trying to relate and ease Penny's worries but also some inner feelings coming out. I see it as natural that she thinks about it because she knows about the ring and has for quite a while now, I think it would have been more unnatural if she didn't think about it.

It's going to happen, I don't think she will have to wonder for much longer.

It seemed to me too the tinier version of gyroscope. And that "kid with two shirts" tip was priceless! Glad to see Sheldon's value in project be well seen by colonel. Boys some times overeacted  a bit about their reactions to Sheldon's quirks, as he is a very inteligent man like them and his contribution to the project is valuable as well. They know him for years, it should be not so surprising dealing with him at work, lol!

And agree about Leonard's present! Sheldon is the best friend ever back to him , as that hug meant gold!

I know the Sheldon parts will get that praise especially with the female Shamy shippers and rightly so lol, but in terms of comedy I think Amy's reaction is what absolutely makes that scene. Couldn't stop laughing at it, then the cut away and Amy speeding up to get there quicker lol. Brilliantly written and then acted by Jim and Mayim.

Up there with some of the best tag scenes they have ever done imo.

I know she was brilliant! I laughed when Sheldon said that they would be there in 3 hours and Amy said that she would made it in 2 hours. Sheldon expression when it pressed him against his seat. LOL

Did anyone think at one point Amy might faint during the tag lol? Her facial expressions and body language in her excitement, holy shit! lol

I know the Jim parts will get that praise especially with the female Shamy shippers and rightly so lol, but in terms of comedy I think Amy's reaction is what absolutely makes that scene. Couldn't stop laughing at it, then the cut away and Amy speeding up to get there quicker lol. Brilliantly written and then acted by Jim and Mayim.

Up there with some of the best tag scenes they have ever done imo.

The tag was hilarious, Jim and Mayim did really a good job! I mean, it was a day-dream from Amy, so she could have as well dreamt a much more wild and nasty thing. But the writers and Jim's and Mayim's acting kept everyone  IC, Sheldon was sexier than he usually is (otherwise, why dreaming?) but also very goofy and funny, and Amy was the adorable little lump of wool we know. Those facial expressions cracked me up so much! It was really fan service to the female viewers (we thank for that and I think we deserve it!!!) but it was a very hilarious scene and very well written and acted!

I don´t know for what part start!
I love the episode so much, all the Sheldon plot about the engine was hilarious, with Leonard and Howard trying to trick him, so funny!
The girls night make me feel a little sad, not for Penny because she can have all she want (come on if you want a baby just need to tell Leonard and he is going to try to pregnant her before she can finish the sentence), was for Amy, she deserve a special proposal and a wonderful wedding, don´t worry Amy it´s coming soon!! *.* 
And the tag scene, well, what can I say? was much better that I had imagine, Sheldon is hot as hell, that look at the last part of the dreamday is everything!! and Amy´s expression was awesome, she is the best at that kind of scene. (my face at that moment was like hers!)

I second everyone words about the tag scene, it was one of the funniest tags scenes ever! The scene was so well written and performed, it was really a very ic insight on Amy's libido and Sheldon was so him even with a sexy outfit (or lack of it, lol). Majim always do brilliant, whatever is about comedy, drama or cute stuff. They nail so well these character's personalities in such realistic way, I tend to forget as I see their scenes they are just fictional characters there, hehe.

BTW, it was a brilliant fangirl service, as Sheldon was hot (Jim is very hot, can't deny it, lol!) and it was about one of the things he most love, trains! I think it was a well spoted Amy's daydream as she showed so well what she most enjoy about Sheldon physically and all that train talk of him in night before was really inside her mind, Our dreams reflect well what we most enjoy and Amy enjoys to see Sheldon getting happy, so the trains theme in her day dream wasso very well done. And I love how both get to other's things because they enjoy them. Amy was not  much into trains in S10E11 but now the girl changed totally her mind, hehe. Don't blame her, lol!
