I'm currently watching through all the BBT episodes with my roommate, who's watching BBT for the very first time. We're partway through season 4, and it's just so funny to see Sheldon (and to a lesser degree Amy did this as well) ADAMANTLY refuse to refer to Amy as his girlfriend. And now all these years later, they both say they've been together since 4.01. I think one of the things about Sheldon that really resonates with me is his rare and uncharacteristic willingness to admit to being wrong or unsuccessful in any way when it comes to Amy. This is why what he said at the end of 9.09 ("I excel at many things, but getting over you wasn't one of them") is so powerful to me. It's like Amy is the only one he will swallow his pride for.

It's funny because my roommate asked me, "When do Sheldon and Amy get together?" And I stopped and had to think about it for a moment. I was like, "Well, that's kind of hard to answer. They don't 'officially' become girlfriend and boyfriend until season 5, but they remain platonic until season 7. However now they both consider season 4 as the beginning of their relationship." And my roommate looked at me funny because she's just witnessed episode after episode of "Amy is a girl who is a friend, but she is NOT my girlfriend." And I'm just like, it will make sense later lol.

I don't know why I find it so endearing. It's like even when they didn't show signs of having feelings for each other yet (which, IMO, started happening for Sheldon in Alien Parasite and for Amy in Herb Garden) and vigorously denied having them at the time, NOW they realized that even from day one at the coffee shop, those feelings were absolutely there. That's so freakin cute. <3 <3

I so want Sheldon to propose in the coffee shop where they first met.

I would love that! <3 Last season, when Sheldon and Amy were still apart, I had this idea that their friends would set them up with "blind dates" because Amy and Sheldon were both evidently looking to find a new mate. So the guys would set Sheldon up with someone, and the girls would set Amy up. But they end up sort of tricking them and setting them up with each other and the location of the blind date would be the coffee shop where they met. And then they would sort of be reminded of how they met and everything and they would talk things out. Of course, I prefer the way they actually got back together, with both Amy and Sheldon realizing on their own how much the other meant to them, with no outside help from their friends. But I love the idea of the coffee shop somehow being incorporated in one of their big moments.

Another place I thought for the location of the proposal was inside Amy's lab, as a kind of spur-of-the-moment decision from Sheldon, as they're just doing together what they love doing. For some reason, I don't see it happening inside either of the apartments, since Howardette's was already in 4A and Lenny's was in 4B. But, who knows? It could very well still happen in one of those places. I've also thought it could very likely be incorporated with Fun with Flags Of course, the writers will surprise us all, and it will probably be beyond anything we could have dreamed up ourselves. *sighs wistfully* I just can't wait for it to happen.

Amy's recollection (in the most recent episode) of where they first met really drove it home for me. He's practical, she's the romantic.  

I'd love for them to faithfully rebuild that coffee shop set and have Sheldon make her swoon.

Yes I confirm. The scene in the promo is the tag scene. Not more.

In live, the way Jim acted it, and when he drops the lines made this moment very funny for a majority. As it was funny, that's why I won't say anything because I thought to watch in discovering with the episode was more funny than if you read it. But no, that was not a secret to say that something big happens, sorry for the hope. :-/

well I'm sure once we see the episode in its entirety and how Amy's reaction doesn't scream desperate to me as it does some viewers, it will be a rather enjoyable moment.

Thank you for the additional info! I'm sure you had a wonderful experience and sorry that the monkey at CBS ruined your surprise for us by using that scene in the promo... 

I have also no doubt the scene is funny in itself, I'm not very fond of it just because I'm really tired of that running gang, which been has going on for too long, IMO. I'm not in the "desperate and horny" Amy camp either, I wasn't in that camp in S. 9 and certainly I'm not in S. 10, where Shamy have proven to have reached a level of intimacy and closeness that I would never have dreamt of for them. That's why at this point I find those kinds of jokes too old style, they don't reflect their relationship anymore, it's much funnier when they mutually flirt at each other.

Thank you so much, CentralPerk !  You made the right decision for us : the humour is in Mayim's facial expressions and Jim's voice and their body language. They say a lot.  

( I think if they ever wanted to risk a spin-off, this pair could carry it if anybody could.)

Same here. It is nice imo to see Sheldon being flirty with Amy. My concerns were he could be doing it only for he got what he wanted about going to SDCC  but after rewatching the clip a few times, his body language seems to me he was also having fun to be flirting with his girlfriend, which imo is amazing shamy could be flirty to each other in such confortable way.  I agree with@vonmar about the Amy's face, was the wtf kind, lol! It did not seem she was desperate either, I am just a bit tired of these old jokes from writers that hint Amy might be  crazy for have sex/Oblivious Sheldon about that but the vibe of the litle clip is not that, fortunately. Actually their vibe lately on show is more imo they might address their sexual life to something more spontaneous soon,   I hope not be wrong, lol! Can not wait for watching how the episode will turn out on screen.

I know I am late to the earlier talk about when  Amy and Sheldon started really to see each other as a couple but here are my two scents , just for record. 

 My opinion is alike with @Maddie 's. It is so endering to see how they connected so earlier in a way that they could not be just friends. The episodes Maddie mentioned were the same I think they really realized their feelings were not just friends's kind. They really took long time to take steps foward to progress in their relationship but their hearts were always beloging to each other. I think that's why their breaking down was so painful to see because they had things to say to each other and their voices needed to find its way, especially Sheldon's. However they needed to live all these things for be where they are now and as shipper , it makes me really  happy.

About the proposal there are three places I would like they pick one for it happen there: cofee shop in a date or aniversary night, in lab as they might be doing something really cool science related or in their bedroom as they were having one of their heartfelt talks.  I see them alone in that moment and just later to share it with relatives and friends. Because shamy best moments happen always when they are alone aganst the normal pace of the world outside from their universe.

I love the coffe shop idea from @vonmar, have so much sense now that we know they consider their start of the relationship that first date, is so cute if he propose to her there but I don´t think that Sheldon will do a "public proposal" I think he is more of an intimate way.

I love to think in ideas of the proposal, this are my favourites:
- A Fun with Flag proposal (that fanfic is in my head forever!).
- A fort proposal (remember their first sleepover? so cutties!!)
- A date night looking stars (Sheldon know that Amy´s asteroid is going to pass Pasadena and he surprise her)
- Maybe a D&D game just for them, Sheldon prepare play for the proposal, maybe the ring is in the final chest that her characther need to find (like the episode of all play D&D and the other one that Sheldon plays with Bernadette).
I want to do a fanfic with this last one because is so freaking cute!  

Anyway is going to be awesome and I can´t wait to see it!!! YAY!!

Since their bedroom has become the place of so many lovely intimate scenes between them I'd also love if the proposal happens there. I've always thought proposing in bed when they have a sweet moment (no, not during coitus! lol) would be perfect - though back then I imagined it happen in Amy's bedroom when she still had her apartment. To think that they now live together and share a bed makes it even better.

Oh yes, the man knows how to flirt! Amy has some inhuman powers of self-restraint though... I don't know how she does it. And from Sheldon's point of view it must look like she's a really tough nut to crack. First his efforts in 10x08 , now this... all it gets him is her best unimpressed face. Poor guy. LOL

Here's hoping the writers lift the restrictions soon!

Speaking of ideas for proposals. Knowing how much the writers enjoy to tease us (And MaJim as well LOL), I can see also the following option for a proposal: Amy is cleaning the dishes, and you see in a small corner of  the camera Sheldon watching her. Unfortunately you only see a small part of him. While Amy speaks to him, you see how he kneels down. There are still two minutes left before the episode ends, you get nervous because you want to know if he is proposing or if he´s just tying up his shoes, so you scream at the screen: "Amy for heaven´s sake, please turn around, I can´t wait 3 months to get the answer!" (Ok I admit this would be my reaction and I can´t speak for anyone else, anyway it´s just a thought of mine )

I've had loads of thoughts on how the proposal plays out from something small and just the two of them present to something involving the rest of the group. I think both would work, on one hand maybe the group seeing it happen might actually be a cool way for them to realize how much they do mean to each other, but on the other hand I guess it won't stop the gags about their relationship and I don't think Shamy are really seeking validation from them anyway. Just STFU Raj!

A large part of me is hoping it's something kind of 'Shamyesque' or there is something symbolic of their relationship involved @vonmar's example of the coffee shop would be fantastic. Or @anicez's idea of a D&D game could be done as a nice way of doing it as there would be some kind of 'full circle' thing going on where the subject of commitment came up or at what pace a relationship develops in 'Love Spell Potential' but now Sheldon is making the ultimate commitment i.e. marriage in a similar setting. But then again something more traditional or old style romance would also work, Amy would love that also.

I think however it happens Amy will be over the moon and will of course say yes.

And I fully trust the writers to make this special, they know how popular this couple are with viewers and will want to make it memorable. They have really proved to me this season with the LA and increasingly romantic and intimate moments between them that they can write stuff like that. I mean this is a ridiculously talented group of writers but they have had new challenges this season (you only need to read comments from Molaro that they have relished the opportunity and challenges writing Shamy this season and in particular the impact of the LA on their relationship) and for the most part they have done a fantastic job. I'm expecting the same with a proposal should it happen!

So he either invites Raj to come with him and agrees to pay for beverages and food (which ends as the most expensive trip of his life, because of Raj's luxury live style. LOL) or he could ask Bert or even Dave to come with him (I'm sure Dave wouldn't say no, he would fangirl so hard!) It would be hilarious, to see them both on a road trip, Dave driving and honking at every car that passes by, leans out of the window and shouts: "That's right, that's Dr. Sheldon Cooper!" while he points happily at Sheldon who gives Dave a bewildered look.

Hum, Dave was nice guy but Sheldon imo would not invite him. Although he knows Dave is his fan, he also knew he had a few dates with Amy and seeing him kissing Amy was really heartbroken to Sheldon. I still think Sheldon might go with Amy, everything depends on that panelists list, hehe!

Or waiting for Amy (in her apartment) to come home with her date from date night. But that's JMO. I know I have a thing for weird situations.

I don't think sheldon would invite him, but It would be funny if he goes to cc alone and meet him there.

You are probably right but Amy did not date with Bert. I  believe more in something like @Anita said, as Sheldon could meet Dave in SDCC but I guess we would need to find Dave was also very foud of comic books or tv shows, lol!

Oh  I guess we also have a thing for weird things, are we not watching a show with a few examples of weird stuff?
