What she lacked in pronunciation she got in attitude, I loved her funny expressions when she sang in German and Mandarin, those were the most hilarious part of the scene!

As per usual, thanks @veejay, your gifs were really on point!

Amy was so great as she sang in German and Mandarin, it was really hilarious! Her atitude was so spot on and Sheldon's  facial expression as he was aproving and enjoying it? Priceless!

@veejay, your gifs are awesome, as usual. Thanks ! :)

I tried Mandarin but I’m miserable failed. :shy:

It was so refreshing to have a sick Sheldon that wasn't annoying for a change.

I'm not a huge Soft Kitty fan (anything that kind of has Sheldon portrayed as a child I'm not a big fan of) but I think by using that harp and the different languages they kind of made it less child like if that makes any sense at all? They also kind of made it more nerdy and definitely Shamyesque. Thought Mayim did a fairly solid job with it and her expressions were great!

Yeah, Amy has a little work to do with her pronunciation. But, hey, ILMAO.

Nerd and schnerrd. (a little rhyme for fun only)

LOL Yeah it was hilarious! I was bracing myself for the usual butchering of the soft "ch" you know from English speakers, but the "schnerrrd" finish made me almost choke on my tea. OMG

And look at her face at the end. She seems pretty satisfied by herself. :icon_biggrin:

LOL! Yep, I was expecting that, too! But I understood what she was saying. As for the part: "...das nie und nimmer murrt..." - well, I really had to watch this part 3 times until I finally got what she was singing. The pronunciation of 'murrt' and 'schnurrt' was just so ...well, different from what it normally sounds like that it took me a little longer to figure the words out.

But still: Good try!

And great and funny episode overall!

:good2:

Yeah, I kinda cheated with that cause I saw @luminous posting the lyrics in the episode thread before watching. If I hadn't known I probably also would have thought "Wait, what!?!???" LOL I had no idea "u" was an issue with English speakers as well.

Amy's Mandarin pronunciation was not very accurate, but her sound was very funny.

I didn't understand her Mandarin the first time I watched the tag, but after reading the reviews on social media, some people "translated" them, then I watched the tag again, I fully understood her the second time. LOL.

And I noticed the translation of the lyrics(as in from the English version to the Mandarin one) was very cute, and funny too.  :icon_cheesygrin:

At school we were taught "Put your mouth as though you're going to say 'o' and say 'ee' " .  I'd have thought German would have been one of Mayim's modern languages.

I remember she went to Germany like 2 years or so ago and she was writing a bit about the language a bit. Wait a minute... here you go:

So much discussion on the languages! I think Mayim gave it her best shot and I'm giving her full credit for trying.

Languages are fun! :D

I loved that scene ! Sheldon also said thank you to Amy very nicely lol.  I can't really find much to criticize about this episode -atleast about Sheldon / Amy as well as Howard/Bernie.  It's always nice to see some light hearted and  funny episodes like this one. I don't recall any mean or nasty jokes either from the  characters  in the Sheldon  plot.

I'm sure she did. It's usual for scientists to know German - or it used to be in 'my day' - because of the amount of work that goes on in German, which was why I was surprised. Perhaps I'm out of date.  Also TV studios usually have dialect coaches. I wonder how many languages Sheldon made her sing in, in the end ?  As his demands go for attention when he's not well, that little foible wasn't too bad.

That was interesting to read, thank you. I didn't quite understand that bit about not wanting to seem an 'imposter'.

Yes, languages are fun. There was an American couple who spent a night in custody in Ireland but that might be for a different thread.

Finally got to watch...what a lovely little episode.

Loved multitasking Sheldon, S/P in the laundry room (felt like a throw back to early BBT), sick Sheldon sneezing on Amy's toast and wondering where the love went (lol).

Drugged up Sheldon partying hard at the country-western bar was so fun, wish we could have seen more of that.

Then that tag, "you know exactly what I need".  Oh Sheldon.  I really love the scenes when they are alone in 4B.

Guys, the video of Amy singing soft kitty in different languages has gone virus on Weibo, one of China's most popular social websites. The video got 60k reblogs, 10K comments and 80k likes in less than 24 hours.

And it is currently on trending NO.1. :superman:

There's also a comment asking "Guys how can I find a girlfriend like Amy?"  And the answer that got the most likes is "Well they give you one after you get your PHD". :icon_cheesygrin:

Based on what I observed on Weibo, Chinese people LOVED this version of Soft Kitty, even though it's hard to tell the exact words. But we love it.

It's cute, funny and nerdy.

Am I the only one who is surprised Sheldon did not ask her to sing it in Klingon?

He knows she can't speak Klingon, he used it as language she couldn't understand with Leonard in 10.7...I guess at this point we should assume that really Amy can speak German, Mandarin and Navajo. I would have loved, though, a Soft Kitty version in Amy's made up language, LOL!

Sorry for being late to the episode discussion!

It was a nice episode with cute Shamy scenes.

I agree with everything that has been said about Shamy, these two are just some sweet little love birds! :giveheart:

I love Sheldon new bag, I hope he is going to use it more often. It would be hilarious to see him sitting in the cinema with Amy, while Sheldon disturbs the audience with his slurp noises and Amy with the clickety , clickety of her knitting needles, because she finds the movie boring and starts to knit. That would be something to behold! :icon_cheesygrin:

Even if a lot of time has passed since Sheldon´s mysophobia, I´m still stunned how comfortable he has become with physical contact.

First he sneezed on Amy´s toast (I cracked up when he did it, but still served it and Amy pushed the plate away and said "Now I don´t need butter anymore" eww but LOL)

Or when Sheldon did this swear thing with the other guests of the bar.

This really impressed, because he didn´t know anyone, but still he did it.

It was kinda cute, like a group of officially sworn in friends. It reminded me of the "Three musketeers".

I wonder how the disentanglement went, because it looked quite entangled to me. :icon_cheesygrin:

Wow this is amazing, thanks for the info Snapepans!

Please let me know, if Mayim does a tour through China, because her singing became so popoular, that they asked her to do a world tour! :icon_cheesygrin:

I would buy a ticket and even pay the double of the price for a ticket, if she takes Jim with her!

Bold part was so true! I just love how Sheldon had been working on his fears and phobias as much he bonded to Amy. It's like he did not lived plenty as the fears controlled him before he met her and Amy was the key to him live freely, you know.  To have fun , to enjoy more life as he might explore everyhing he feared in past. That scene on bar with all these strangers was realy a challenge to Sheldon, who would freaked out if someone told him in past he would be touched by so many strangers. It is really a delight to me as Sheldon's  fan to see his growth and his smile as he shares his life with his Amy. As shipper  I am really over the moon and they are not even engaged yet!

Btw I wish we could have seen more from Sheldon in that country bar. Sometimes it would be so cool if each episode had 45 minutes. Great scenes got so litle as they cant have much screen time. At least shamy scenes seem to me most of time so litle because if I could I would be watching more from their lives for hours and hours. It's  a shipper thing, hehe. :)
