It seems to me that the breakfast scene could've been used to show the audience that Sheldon and Amy are spending nights together (Amy preparing breakfast still wearing her nightie)without it being made into a big deal and it's now a regular part of their relationship. Maybe it's just me desperately wanting to know that they are now making love often!! :-)

Hi amethyst. Long time missed you on the games thread.

What also would have been cool is if Amy cooked breakfast for Sheldon in 4a. Just the two of them and Penny did the same for Leonard in 4B. Some alone time for the couples as they haven't and wouldn't be seeing their men for sometime.

Err...it's not just you, it's most of us :D They've passed many opportunities to do that. Not sure what their plan is, but for 13+3 eps (I also count the premiere cause IMO there will be little if any Shamy and definitely nothing coitus-related) nothing has happened in that regard. The third episode will air in October, so...December is getting closer. Though it could be the 4th episode that finally deals with this but we've kind of been saying this for 16 eps now.

Note that even after this ominous post I haven't completely abandoned the thought that they'll find a way to fix this, it's just harder to think like that right now.

Yeah I know, this poster requested a link to the posts 'before' the taping thread was updated. If the thread was up to date then I would just have redirected them there.

Hey there, fellow Shamies! I've been on the road for the most part yesterday and while I could read the forum I didn't really have time to write down my thoughts on this episode. Much of this has already been said by others, apologies if it feels repetitive.

Many thanks again to @Tenji and @Denyy for the TRs and the delightful BTS bits. *Bert voice* "You guys rock!" *badumtish*

Anyway... Shamy thoughts on 10x03:

- I love that the girls are making their men breakfast. It's really sweet and supportive and I take that over the much worse alternative of them being mopy about it over a glass of wine (as previously feared in some of our speculations). Like many of you, I'd love if the writers would start to use such a scenario to indicate she stays the night, but baby steps, I guess?? As for Sheldon not wanting to go to that party it's understandable, he doesn't like parties so nothing surprising about that. Though in the end it becomes a joke how nobody else from CalTech wanted to go either. LOL

- I'm happy to have a PAmy plot. It feels like it's been ages since we had one with just the two of them. <3

- Bert revealing that Amy is the coolest girl at CalTech is amazing! And I can easily believe it. When she started at CalTech she had already made a huge progress in her social skills and we've seen her being friendly and helpful towards her colleagues indicating good working relationships. Meanwhile, Sheldon is still Sheldon, and while he has a few grad students and people like Dave gushing over him because of his intellectual reputation the people who actually have to work with him are less thrilled and students are not that keen on his lectures, to say the least. The idea that Sheldon is only considered cool because he dates Amy is really giving me "human credentials*" vibes here which delights me.

*For those who don't get the reference, it's from an interview with David Duchovny where he links an anecdote to the Scully and Mulder dynamic, but some of us Shamy fans being X-Files fans as well this has also come last year as being applicable to Shamy: "I heard a phrase once, somebody was talking about their wife. This was a person who was very inept socially, not the wife but the man. There were many things said about him that weren’t kind, and he said, 'My wife, who is lovely and social and everything like that, is my human credential.' And that makes him a human being, because people think, well if she can stand him, he must have some humanity within him."

- On the guys' side Sheldon's struggle with getting the maths done in time while being sleep-deprived and high on caffeine is giving me university flashbacks. I feel you, buddy! The impending doom of a deadline you can't fulfil because the project was just too much to handle is emotionally and physically exhausting. I don't think we've ever seen Sheldon deal with something like that. Yes, elements of it in different episodes sprinkled over several seasons? Sure. But not in that combination all at once. I mean, he never really had to deal with any deadlines to begin with. So that's a new one. Additionally, he is the guy who can whip up the maths and a paper to Leonard's idea over night, and even drunk he can throw together some numbers to check if their idea could work. So although he's made maths mistakes in the past there's a somewhat earned confidence that he can cobble together the maths for their new AF prototype in time. But it seems like he's stretched to his limits here and I quite like that this is something that doesn't come as easy to him and that with this project he really has something he has to work hard for this time.

- Last but not least: OMG the Shelnard in this is giving me all the feels here!! <3

Since 1001 happens right after 924 (unlike in reality we have a 3 month hiatus). By the time the third episode airs, it may still be July in the show (unless there's a time jump after the first episode), which means in the show we still have 5 months until December, which also means the writers may deal with coitus even after 1011... Anyway, I hope they deal with it soon. They longer they wait, the weirder it gets.

I wrote this in another section of the forum but it fits here too...

I've started to wonder if tptb think it's obvious to the fans that they've been sleeping together with the tiniest of hints here and there and that it's no big deal.  I just don't know what to think and I'm getting tired of waiting for some scrap of confirmation either way.  

If they let Amy's birthday pass with no mention or confirmation, then yeah, I'm going to assume they thought their stupid hints here and there were obvious to the fans (IT WASN'T WRITERS!) and that off screen, they were occasionally sleeping together.

But if they stick with Molaro's stupid joke of once a year, I'm going to be massively pissed, disappointed and will soon be joining the other disgruntled Shamy's who have given up on this ship.  Because, IMO, sticking to this joke would frankly, from what we know of these characters up to now, and with all the sex jokes from all the characters, especially Shamy themselves, would be a disservice and ooc.  It would be sad, pathetic and unrealistic for anybody, including someone who said himself, he LIKED IT more than he thought he would, to only do it once a year.  Her eggs have an expiration date, remember writers?

I do think they will catch up with real time around November sweeps. But I agree with your point: Right now TBBT time is still in May for the first two episodes, June or July for the third. Edit: Maybe the third is still in May as well, depending on when exactly Sheldon realises that he can't figure out the maths. The TR says he's trying for "days" not weeks. So who knows. But still pretty early. I guess Bernie's growing baby bump will be the real time indicator here.

They have, but for all we know, when Sheldon decided in 401 not to go ahead with the procreation of a super-race, if Amy had started her side of the procedure she may have continued and then had the eggs frozen. That means she has a stock of fresher ones available.

She wouldn't be the first career woman to think of it. Wouldn't surprise me if the writers have. I can imagine her mentioning it in that deadpan straight-faced voice she puts on.

The yearly coitus thing doesn't majorly bother me at this point because it doesn't seem to bother Amy so far if we are assuming they have only had coitus on that one day.

The moment that changes and it's clear that Amy is unhappy with that arrangement then I will get annoyed. I would much prefer it's a normal couple no big deal kind of thing instead of Molaro's joke but as long as Amy is happy/both are happy that's all that matters to me right now.

Who knows maybe they do it again on her birthday and they throw in a line afterwards from Sheldon saying I can't wait again until next year. I don't think this yearly gag will work again for another year writers.

Amy's attitude towards this once-a-year arrangement seems pretty vague to me. She was satisfied with the arrangement in the opening night episode. But we also know from episodes like 917 and 919 that Amy certainly would like to do it more frequently. The point is I think the two of them should at least talk it out instead of Amy hinting it and Sheldon not getting it. I guess these kind of jokes are good for comedy (or are they?). But from a shipper point of view, the way the writers dealt with coitus is kind of disappointing. I remember @2L344 once said the whole sex thing after all this time begins to feel like a one-night stand because of the lack of PDAs between Shamy. That perfectly describes how I feel right now. 

I'm very curious about how the writers are going to resolve this problem. The ideal way IMO is that they explains it as when Shamy first had coitus, although Sheldon enjoyed it, he didn't feel the need to do it more than once a year. But as time passes by, his urges awake. He now needs coitus. It's not an agreement, nor an obligation. If that happens, it would make me so happy. But I'm keeping my expectations low since that would be too much change for Sheldon's personality according to the writers. Most likely, Shamy will do it again on Amy's next birthday. That's also fine, I guess. Although in that case I would wish they never had coitus in the first place. Of course that's just me. Anyhow I hope we get an answer soon.

I also think that this would be the simplest solution to this issue. And they could wrap it in a really sweet and funny story. So win-win as far as I'm concerned. They just need to sit down and finally write that thing.

Maybe Jim needs to poke them with a stick about that some more or something... LOL

Same for me! I think it might have been a hint of possible sex time for them as Sheldon and Amy surely have slept together in the episode they spent a weekend on a cabin with lenny. However, for it be  surely true, imo, we would need get more hints and it seems not possible for all shamy scenes we saw after the cabin episode.
I bet in that scenario too, they do it again in Amy s birthday and Sheldon opens his heart to Amy that he had just waited for next birthday because she said it was fine when they had sex for the first time. Sheldon has grown up in baby steps in lot of things but he is and will be always a "clueless" guy about emotional hints like that one Amy gave him in his birhday about his "birthday suit".

I believe there will be great development in shamy field around episode 9- 10 of season 10.

Episodes 9/10/11 have always had great Shamy moments in the past seasons. Usually it's just one or two of them but last year had the perfect trifecta. Curious to see how we do this year!

I would be laughing so hard if something like that happens! Them already getting busy in bed once a week is probably not the most likely scenario but a scene like that could easily be used to let Sheldon blab about his urges in some ways.

Yeah, that was like... around Paley, I think? It's all kept so vague though they could easily change their mind or have something happen at some later point like in the cabin. As said, not the most likely scenario right now, but it could still happen.

I'm not very clear on how big the time jump is in 10.3 but eventually there will be one anyway. Maybe they're keeping this for November sweeps?  At this point though I'm kind of over all this "Maybe then...no, no, maybe after that". Still, technically there's still time to change this. The question is, why do it now and not in season 9? 9.23 would have been a perfect opportunity.

As a show they are doing the right thing by keeping people glued to the television in suspense, sure it's annoying for a shipper but it's good television show practice. If I was a tv exec I would be telling them to keep doing what they are doing.
