I always saw this Ramona threat as distraction from the real cliffhanger but nobody likes the idea of a pregnancy or a scare and nobody believes an engagement will take place. My friend suggested that we'll see a replay of the S8 finale with Shamy on Skype as the tag scene, but this time, he pulls out the ring and proposes. I mean... anything can happen. I just don't think the cliffhanger will consist of us being pissed because Sheldon may have cheated.

Oh I totally agree that this could easily be a cover up for the real twist but I'm not sure it'll be a Shamy twist.  Like, I can totally see a pregnancy scare for Lenny, for example. Let's say the episode plays out in all its predictable comedic cheating misunderstanding glory for Shamy and just when you think they'll leave us hanging with a trite will they/ won't they for Sheldon and Ramona the episode takes a hard turn and Leonard finds a positive pregnancy test. Fade out. Roll the credits. Or something like that...

I know Skype has played a big part in their lives, but I don't think they would have a proposal that way. I would rather see a face to face one.

BUT let's go with your idea for a second. I think a better way would be perhaps for Sheldon to have snuck something in her luggage or left a gift with the ring inside it. They obviously have a conversation on skype, he mentions the gift or item he snuck in. She opens it, sees the ring and then he says something beautiful and romantic and asks her to marry him. That way she would have the ring with her whilst she is away.

But like I said I would much prefer something face to face. I am thinking Season 11 it happens, no clue exactly when.

I hear you. I have my own ideas of how I would like things to go, but I try to keep that out of speculation because it taints my expectation and usually creates disappointment. It's easy to dislike something so bad that you convince yourself of reasons why it won't happen, or liking something so much that you convince yourself it will. I need to remove my preferences because I will either talk my hopes up or down if I don't. Whatever will be, will be... and I kind of like it that way. If the writers did what I thought was best, it wouldn't be TBBT.

I personally want a finale that is eventful and suspenseful. I want a surprise. I want something to gush about. I want something to speculate and discuss all summer long. I want to feel excited for S11 when it's all said and done. However they want to make those things happen, I'm ok with. I'd actually rather them come up with something I never would and these writers tend to be good at that. I'm putting my trust in their hands and if come Tuesday night, I want to throw something... well, I will.

That goes back to the other day when I said sex was a weird choice of ways to send Amy off to Princeton.

Maybe he did it to:-

a. Show Amy how much she truly means to him, and how much he will miss her.

b. Remind her what she stands to lose, if she cheats/breaks up with him.

ETA: It just occurred to me. Sheldon owes his entire relationship with Amy, to Howard, Raj, and, most surprising of all, his mother.

I understand the ways it could be done or why most people do it but I'm just waiting to hear more about the episode or see if for myself. I have no doubt the writers could make it understandable and believable for Shamy to have a goodbye sex session. We just don't have specifics and it makes it hard for me to fully comprehend from where I stand, which is two episodes behind them. That's one of the reasons why I've been trying to see it from the writer's standpoint. It sells the finale plot and amps the drama. I'm sure there are reasons behind the character's decision too, but we don't know what they are yet.

See I would prefer a tame finale lol. Full of nothing to worry about or speculate, no misunderstandings or drama set up for Season 11 and I say that for everyone on the show not just Shamy. Basically 10.23 sounds pretty much perfect to me for Shamy as a season finale. I would have ended it there and then picked up the story from 11.1 with perhaps Amy coming home in the season opener both having missed each other. A couple of Skype scenes in 10.24 would have been all i needed from them in this one.

As usual and rightly so everyone wants different things from the show, from each individual storyline or episode and the finale is no exception to this lol.

And I think that's why my speculations have clashed with everybody the last few days. I don't mind drama because I enjoy conversation and when things are all neatly wrapped in a bow, the speculation is gone. Drama doesn't have to mean problems with Sheldon and Amy, but happily ever after is for the end of the book and this is just the end of a chapter. I enjoy seeing a couple resolve problems and jump over hurdles because it's true to life. The hard times make the good times so much better and until the story is truly over, everybody can anticipate a little of both.

Having said that, I don't think the episode will end badly for Shamy. I really don't.

I think we are pretty respectful of different opinions on here, different takes or different storyline ideas (even mine lol). It would be a boring world if we all agreed on the same thing.

Perhaps Ramona had one of these parked outside their apartment for some time waiting to strike:

There's another reason, why I would find it hard to imagine Amy cheating.

Not only would she stand to lose Sheldon, but all her other friends too.

I doubt any of the gang would ever speak to her again, and, given how lonely she was before she met them, I seriously doubt she'd risk it.

Here’s another one (or more like a combination of other people’s ideas) … Ramona tries to seduce Sheldon using science. He appears to be falling for it and the gang gets worried and contacts Amy. She’s not concerned until Ramona goes a step too far. Sheldon sees through Ramona’s manipulation and tells her off and that she’s half the scientist Amy is … plus other things he loves about Amy. He takes off for Princeton at the end for … we don’t know what (proposal?). Then there’s like a no-drama cliffhanger-ish. I don’t know. Now I’m just killing time until we find out :shy:

It is a plausible scenario. After all we dont have any sure the things went bad to our couple. These are going to be the longest 1 day and half of my shamy fan life, lol! Thanks to this thread and you guys  for my  waiting  be more bearable

I think what disappoints me about this Ramona thing is the recycling of plots. If for some reason they need to bring back her, at least be creative. Because the last time Ramona's here, she was the aggressively pursuing and Sheldon was oblivious.

IMO, they wasted a great opportunity for comedy sending Amy away. If Amy's here, maybe she'll figures out Ramona's true purpose and maybe she becomes competitive. Then there could be some comedy rather than drama. Like they could have a science contest and Amy beats Ramona's ass. Or Ramona tries to do damage to Shamy's study only finding her accidentally help them make a progress. So on.

Also, what is it with this show's "sending Amy away at our convenience"? Does it have something to do with Mayim's schedule? We have Amy being away at Chicago for two episodes last season, Amy being away in Princeton for a whole summer this season. At this speed, in the final season, maybe Amy will get admitted by that Mars program.

Are you discussing what mollaro said?

Sheldon too stupid to know when being pursued relentlessly? I think it may be more of the same as last time. No Sheldon cheating. Just oblivious to someone trying to pick him up. Not worried at all.

I don't know if it's a recycled plot or being consistent. Sheldon is often obvious.

Personally, I think it might be interesting to see what happens now that Sheldon has been in a relationship with Amy for 7 years. It has not only changed his perspective on love, romance, and sex but it's changed him as a person. Even if the plot was an exact duplicate of S2, I think the writers would be hard-pressed to reproduce an episode from 8 years ago for that reason alone.

Jealous Amy? Nooo.

I see what you're saying about comedy vs. drama, but I think that would be a great disservice to Amy and her character development. Ramona is not Amy's competition and if they have her at the same level as an overbearing scientist who stumbles back into Sheldon's life after 8 years, I would be pissed.

I believe the whole theme of this episode is to evaluate how much Sheldon has changed and the fact that no woman, no matter how pretty or smart, is competition for Amy.

I think TPTB sent Amy away last season because Mayim hurt her back and the Skype sessions allowed her to sit in a chair. As for this season, I think she needed to be away for their plot to work, so away she went. It's not like she's the only character who has left for the summer at the end of a season. We don't even know if she comes back by the end of the episode or not.

I've been thinking about how the episode might unfold...The Shamy Skype call should be the cold open or the one right after the credits. Then my guess is Sheldon will be off to work and that's when he'll stumble across Ramona. She'll start sucking up to him and congratulating him and doing her shenanigans which will continue through the episode. Sheldon won't realise what's going on and will go along with things because he likes the attention. Maybe she'll take him somewhere - invite him out to dinner for example - and Sheldon will accept. Meanwhile, the boys will be looking for him to inform him about the gyroscope being taken away from them and Sheldon will tell them he's out with Ramona. They'll get worried and Leonard will tell Penny who will call Amy. Ramona will drive Sheldon back to his apt and there she'll get more aggressive. Amy will be trying to call him but he'll be occupied with being clueless with Ramona's intentions. Things will escalate and BAM...Cliffhanger.

I hope it doesn't go this way. I don't want to spend the summer waiting for the already known resolution of a lame cliffhanger.

Well from Molaro's description, I don't think Sheldon has changed at all. He still has no idea Ramona's pursuing him. So what's changed? Isn't that exactly the case in season 2?

What I don't like is this whole plot sounds like another big plot for Sheldon, not Shamy, because, well, Amy's not there. The writers are back to their usual "Sheldon being cute and sexy in different scenarios" only this time, the scenario needs Amy to be away. I think Amy being away serves no purpose for Shamy.

And that's the big difference between Amy being away and Sheldon/Leonard being away for the summer. You see, other characters being away serves purpose for their own or their own ship, while Amy, is used as a tool to create something between Sheldon and Ramona. I think there's a great chance we'll only see Amy via Skype in the finale.

But hey, we still don't know what exactly happens in the finale. Let's just wait and see. Maybe it'll be a big fat Shamy episode like a lot of people on the thread have hoped. Although I doubt it but I'll be so happy if I'm wrong.

I wish she would be pursuing Sheldon for revenge. She's got her Phd now. Why can't she have been the one to mess up the guy's military contract?

She could have, the project was taken away on 10x23.  She could show in 10x24 to gloat about taking them down.

The title of the finale is The Long Distance Dissonance. Now I'm not as confident as I was that we'd have an angst-free hiatus for Shamy.
