[Spoilers] Shamy: Season 10

Good point, @Jonny about this being technically Sheldon's second (and maybe third - we don't really know when he was planning to pop the question after the S8 finale) attempt, even if Amy didn't know about it. So, yeah.... Even further reasons for why them going down a season-long string of proposals is unlikely. I also think the writers have other stuff they like to write for Shamy, and not all focused on romance. We have seen it this year, especially, and especially with their ongoing project (I LOVE that is mentioned in 10x23 again), that they can write plenty of one-on-one Shamy plots without even bringing up the word romance, so they don't *need* to milk this out to keep them interesting.

I think they will settle in engaged life after the premiere and then the writers will pull out the wedding card when they feel like it in the next two seasons. It's time they focus on Lenny a little, they've been by far the weakest part of this season, IMO and they're the only ones who haven't really made any movement from where they were 2 years ago. Leave Shamy on the backburner with their work and FWF stuff for a while. I personally would be totally fine with them taking Lenny's place at the metaphorical "kitchen counter" observing the gang and making comments. ;)

Shamy can have really interesting kind of in the background storylines say a B plot in the epsiodes because they are great together in everything but also both very quirky individually. If the writers choose to do that for a while in Season 11 whilst resolving what I think are pretty clear issues with Lenny and Raj then I would be absolutely fine with that.

I think a way of doing so, unfortunately at Amy's expenses, could be not having the time jump soon after the premiere, but having a couple of episodes after that with Amy still in Princeton. We could follow her progresses with her work there through Skype calls to Sheldon and the others (I would be thrilled in having scenes in her lab there, but not really confident that will happen). Obvioulsy, I wouldn't be really happy about that, but I can see that happen. BTW, I hope this year Amy coming back home will indicate the time jump with 100% certainty. In the last two seasons I got really confused about that; in S. 8 all in a sudden it was Thanksgiving and we realized Shamy had been broken up for more than six months, that was a shock, and in past season I'd hope Bernie being pregnant could help us with the time jumps as well but that almost 11 months pregnancy was a bummer too.

Yeah, their time jumps tend to be all over the place, and usually it's because they want to do holiday episodes. I personally wouldn't mind if Amy were a Princeton for a couple more episodes. As in, premiere with Sheldon in NJ as they sort out the proposal, then he comes back home, have a couple of episodes where they Skype and maybe Amy has her own plot in Princeton (one can dream), and then episode 4 she comes back home and it's a Shamy-heavy, reunion episode.

The only thing I'm sad about S10 is that they never did that flag convention episode they mentioned at SDCC. :( I would love to see something like that in S11. Or for the gang to take a trip somewhere together.

Yes to both for Season 11! I really hope they do the flag convention in Season 11, I think they ultimately had to balance storylines and had an idea of having a convention with Lenny or a convention with Shamy and went with the Lenny one instead which is fine. I don't envy the writers job at all lol!

A trip of the whole gang together would be great and I say that for any full group activities as well.

Just throwing it in there, but I've been thinking....In 9.11, we thought the scene before coitus had been cut before they actually kissed, but it was not the case, what if they do this also in this episode and in the final edit Amy does answer? LOL!
Anyway, happy episode day, everyone!!!

OMG I wondered that too !!! Jim's IG when they were rehearsing at the door hinted they rehearsed a kiss !!!!!!!! *wink wink *

One of my most wanted things for s11 wishing list! I would really like to see all of them in some event that involved a group trip like that science convention episode in s4. The group is bigger, is more grown emotionally and if the writers do an effert as they write great dialogues , it would be awesome! It would be a good reminder of earliers seasons of the show: that group interacted so much, romantic relationships aside. The live progresses  but what a person love to do before be is  taken romantically is always amusing to keep doing, with the right fitting modifications these things involve course, I mean, in a way that everyone is happy in end, husbands , wifes, boyfriends, girlfriends.

Shamy wedding preparation cold be a great way of everyone interacting. Surely some would help others only mess up, LOL! But it would be great if that happenned. :)

I really want to see Amy's lab scenes at Prinston, too.

I'm totally OK with seeing Amy via Skype for several episodes, like the old days, when Sheldon was Skyping with Amy, and we got to see her talking to the monkeys: "Mommy's on the phone!"  :icon_cheesygrin:   And when she returns to Caltech, maybe we will get some follow-up about her work at Prinston.

In this case, we won't see her in person, but at least she would get her own storyline. I'd love that.

("Turn to page 394." Sorry, had to.)

Is it too early in this almost TBBT hiatus to point out that, assuming they talk a little about the situation before she says yes, Sheldon has no clothes with him other than the ones he's wearing and he's gonna spend the night and, who knows, they might want to celebrate? Thus the cuddle scene (with or without "celebration") we were denied a season ago.

Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself? Okay, I'll see myself out now. lol

Oh you're not the only one! LOL

Assuming the scenario I described earlier with Amy having a bit of a panic attack I can see them taking it slow for the evening and decide to just go to bed and Amy's asking where his luggage is and he's just like "uhm...." --- Cut to next morning where we finally get *that* cuddle.

Well, most certainly we won't reach page 1000 till the end of the season, as we did last year, but, let's think big...Page 500, maybe?

Let's  see... tonight episode has bedroom scenes, next week spontaneous coitus and in season finale skype calls, Ramona bitchy stuff and a proposal? I'd say we reach the 500 at least!

Vixen has ALWAYS been her pet name.

And also a correction on a mistake some of you are making....

he didn't fly halfway across the country.

He flew across the ENTIRE country.  From the west coast of California to the east coast of New Jersey!

Indeed! And his pet-name is babe. Those two! Most of things they denied to ever want in their relationship and there they go! Their lovestory is truly fascinating to follow

Yeah 'Vixen' goes all the way back to Herb Garden I believe. There is of course 'Foxy Teakettle' he definitely called her that once, maybe twice?

Kind of interesting there is a Fox theme lol. A female Fox is called a Vixen, a woman who is described as 'Foxy' or called 'a Fox' in a modern context is derived from the ancient British word 'Foxismonitism' which I believe means "attractive or sexually appealing". Foxy of course can also mean cunning or shrewd, also referred to intelligence which Amy of course has in spades.

Bit of waffling and pointless knowledge or information lol, but I am trying to do my bit in the pursuit of 500 pages lol!

Panicking in some forms would be IC for Amy, that's what has  happened during many other important moments in their relationship: the train kiss, the ILY2, their first time...She really wanted all those things to happen, but as her wishes came true, she had a very natural fear reaction, because it was something new to her too. I would love they take some time (within the episode, though, the idea of multiple proposals gives me chills, and (to quote Jim), not in a good way) to speak and Sheldon explains why he chose that very moment to propose.

I dread the thought of multiple proposals as well. It would serve no purpose at all...why delay the inevitable?

Been going over the two TR's (thanks again Kazzie!) and it sounds like another real gem in the finale episode that perhaps might go 'under the radar' especially with casuals but not to some of us more obsessed fans is that scene with Penny and Sheldon in 4B and in particular Penny looking at the painting as if she is talking to Amy.

Kind of reinforces the theme this season of their blossoming friendship. Sounds like there will be a more serious tone, worried almost rather than a scene for comedic effect, I really really hope it comes across that way. I will be looking forward to that, love PAmy this season and hope to see more of it in Season 11!

Kind of like Howard in space? I loved those episodes. I would be thrilled to see Amy working at Princeton like that, add some fun skype calls between her and Sheldon and perfection...

While this season was full of fanfic-y Shamy goodness, there is one area I think TPTB squandered on: the opportunity to tease both the hardcore shippers as well as the casuals with several "Amy Farrah Fowler will you..." jokes. The toothbrush scene is in my top 10 Shamy moments but that was such a missed opportunity.

Maybe I'm just a sap, but I desperately want to hear Sheldon say "Amy Farrah Fowler, will you marry me?"

I like the idea of Amy having a panic attack because it stops her from saying yes before finding out about the kiss, which potentially could hurt her and make her change her mind.  I want her to know the whole story before she says yes, even though they got back together just after she was kissed by someone else, and officially started dating while she was on a date with someone else, so this is very fitting for their relationship so far.  Someone else wants one of them, the relationship moves forward.

If she doesn't say "yes" right away, either because she is upset about the kiss (which she shouldn't be, Sheldon did everything right.  He was just trying to make a friend), or because she thinks he's just panicked and doesn't mean it, I think she would say yes once she realizes the situation.

Once it dawns on her that he has nothing but the ring with him, it should really drive home that this is something he's more prepared for than anything else, quite literally in this situation.

I've been trying to figure out exactly what about Ramona kissing him makes him need to propose that second and I just don't want it to be guilt because that's not the best reason to propose, but if it is, by the end of the episode, they just need to realize that regardless of the catalyst, they want to be together forever and that's what matters.

I also really don't want him to try to get her to come home.  If the proposal is because he thinks it will get her to return to California where she can protect him from people like Ramona, I will not be happy.

I have no major worries about their conversation should they have one and we see it. I would question Amy's reaction if he told her everything and she really had a go at him. But I guess we have the benefit of seeing it all, she doesn't.

It wouldn't be unrealistic for her to speak to the girls to get them to explain what Ramona was like as well, they are close. The gang clearly knew what was going on, whilst Sheldon clearly was oblivious. Obviously they might not know about her making a pass at Sheldon, but they saw some danger signs, for example that line Sheldon said about Ramona keeps asking when she is back that by the sounds of it really alarmed the gang.

Ultimately I can't see no major drama over this and I think the writers would find it difficult to try to paint it that way.

I'm having a hard time believing that he's doing it because of some sort of guilt or panic. The show hammered the point home that he was thinking about Amy the whole time and that the Ramona thing is not his fault beyond maybe being a bit naive about her motives. He was in the middle of explaining to her why he's not interested and then she kissed him against his will. He is completely innocent here.

What I think this moment could be is an epiphany, a moment of clarity where everything just clicks into place much like in Earworm where he also just runs out straight to Amy (and he's even wearing the same shirts so I take it it's an intentional parallel). Why exactly the moment Ramona kissed him? Apart from the dramatic effect in the episode I think it may be about the idea that Ramona is violating something that he only shares with Amy. Being in a physical relationship with Amy has been such a huge deal for him and he was working years to overcome his issues with intimacy - to have someone he thought was a friend disrespect that is just one big NOPE for him. Amy's are the only lips he ever wants to kiss again he might as well make it official.

Or to quote one of my favourite movies: "... when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible. "

(omg, that sounds cheesy, I'm sorry. lol)

Back in 10.5, Sheldon expressed his fear of someday hurting Amy the same way that his father hurt his mother (i.e. infidelity). Penny knew he wouldn’t do that and Amy didn’t seem worried about his outburst either. And, of course, Sheldon himself acknowledged that he didn’t really want to see other people. Despite the absurdity of it all, in retrospect I wonder how much something like that continued to weigh on his mind. Fears are often irrational, and ones rooted in childhood experiences can be especially tough to let go.

Sheldon had been holding back on a proposal for quite a while, and maybe the irrational fear he expressed in that episode was the reason why. Maybe it took Ramona throwing herself at him for him to become 100% certain that he would never want anyone else—that he would never hurt Amy by being like his father in that way. The Ramona incident is an otherwise odd catalyst for a proposal.

Anyway, whatever his reasons are for proposing so suddenly, I hope we get to hear them talking about it a bit. I don’t want it to look like it’s because he feels guilty or something. I’d much prefer that his reason is because he is fully confident that marrying her is what he wants.

I have a lot of posts to catch up on in this thread, so apologies if I’m repeating anyone else.

Oh, and thanks as always to those who shared spoilers!
