I never comment on here; I usually read people's thoughts and like them if I happen to agree with them, and I know we're supposed to throw up rainbows in this thread, but I think I'd share my 2 cents about the episode. I just would like to know if people feel like I do or, since I feel like I've been disappointed so many times, I can't look at the show with an unbiased eye anymore. Long story short, I don't like how still Amy is treated this poorly by Sheldon aka the writers (and vice versa). And I agree with what April said about the ep, because those are the only positive aspects I take from it. Don't get me started on the three person wedding or the fact that living with a married couple, when you can live on your own, is weird. I'm used to this kind of lame jokes. But sorry, when Amy is involved, I can't help but get defensive. So apparently Sheldon still doesn't know how to treat his girfriend; although he knows very well how to be rude to her and his mom must remind him good manners, because of course Sheldon is still a child and thank God Penny told us at the beginning of the episode! how can you forget that for a moment?! Also Amy was expecting the proposal but that ended up being way funnier (never seen that kind of situations in sitcoms...very original) and then they apparently still can't stay next to each other or show signs of affection towards one another, because I don't even know why (I'll admit this is me wanting to see more from them). I wish Mary stay around in every episode because I just love how she is towards Amy and Amy needs this kind of love. What makes me kinda sad is that we know Amy is usually sweet to Sheldon, like in ep3 when she goes to 4A to make him breakfast, but he can't help but being rude to her. I hope I haven't been too negative (I have my drama moments elsewhere), but I just wanted to know if other people feel the same or it's just me. Maybe you guys can help me change my mind. P.s. I don't mind the sex joke, hopefully that was something she said to Sheldon and he then blurted it out. I guess now we know for sure the mice orgasm study will be a storyline for Amy for sure. I get your frustration, as a Shamy shipper you want Sheldon to treat Amy nice all of the time and vice versa but maybe it's not realistic with both their personalities. Sheldon has improved on that front but every so often they throw something out there that goes against that a kind of step forward then a step back kind of thing. I just consider this cheap humor by the writers, it's frustrating for a shipper but it appeals to the core of fans that have no bias or are invested in a particular character and they make up the vast majority of the viewership. Well, personally I don't have a problem with the wedding part. Who else but Amy would think that Sheldon would propose in that moment? And IIRC Mary told her to sit down or something, so it sounds like she was making a spectacle? Idk, I read that as Amy being irrational (but also funny). As for the car scene, I'll really have to watch that first. I don't remember reading in the tr what he told her that was rude. kerrycec03 Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Thank you again Heres2u!!! At first I was so-so but after reading again sounds cute. The gentials line is great and Shelly is very comfortable letting Mommy know he is no virgin. And yes very believable Amy would say that! Appreciate Sheldon thinking Al was hitting on Amy and nixing it. Silly Amy thinking he was going to propose (but Amy is always more spurt it out so it fits but wasn't the moment at all so clearly she was in wedding fever and eager). I hope thats not a troupe of her thinking any big moment could be it. Mary and Amy interaction sounds fantastic and they are so connected Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Jonny Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) I took from the TR (it may look different on screen) that Amy just got overwhelmed and excited and Mary tried to calm her down, maybe even Mary knew what Sheldon was going to do in regards to Leonard? The biggest thing to take from that scene though is that Amy is absolutely dying for Sheldon to propose and maybe the longer it doesn't happen maybe the writers are going to have her push for it lol. I can easily see them doing a running gag where you think Sheldon is about to propose and Amy thinks so as well but it doesn't happen but then you get a sudden proposal when Amy or us as fans least expect it. April Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 @nusspot First of all: Secondly, having recently rewatched the whole show with a close eye on Shamy I have to say while those "Sheldon doesn't treat Amy right" moments are not ideal I feel they toned them down a lot post-breakup. So I'm not too bothered. For this episode in particular, there was a running gag of Sheldon saying disrespectful things and his mother is scolding him for it. Hence we got what we got in the car scene. I don't see it as the show wanting to make a point about Sheldon being terrible towards Amy specifically. What it is saying though is 1) Mary will always be his kryptonite no matter what, and 2) Amy is not his mother (thank goodness!) and she'll figure out a way how to deal with those moments. Everything will be okay. As for the wedding, this is Amy just being overeager about the proposal. I think it's very in character for her with her being so into the wedding stuff and everything. It also reminds us that no, she hasn't forgotten about the ring, which isn't too bad cause we all here sometimes wondered if she did because she never said anything about that after "cool your jets". I think all in all this episode sets up some nice themes for possible Shamy story lines (some surely happening sooner than others) in that it reminds us about the sex and the upcoming proposal, it even hints at the living arrangements. Mary's reassurance that Amy will figure out a better way of how to deal with Sheldon also makes me hope that there'll be a bit of an arc for her to gain more confidence in this relationship, especially after knowing that she finds out she's the coolest girl at CalTech and Sheldon should be grateful for dating her! <3 12 minutes ago, nusspot said: P.s. mirs1 Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) TBH, what bothers me about this episode it's not the part where Amy misunderstands Sheldon's intentions, because that's the kind of jokes the writers always use, a bit obvious, but as @Jonny83 said, it's their core humor. My problem is the part where the "big three" are pronounced "husband, wife and weird husband" or something like that. That's a marriage of three, as the writers have always called the living arrangements, but it's like they are making that "official". Of course in the beginning of the episode Sheldon admits the LA are "weird", but anyway he ends up as an even weirder third party in the ceremony itself. That makes me think the end of this situation is not as near as I would have wished, I hope I'm wrong. Anyway, the moment itself appears sweet, if we don't think about its repercussions in the future plots. kerrycec03 Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I think that the big 3 on the altar and his comments earlier are omage to the writers love of the big 3 but also making fun and aware of the sheer ridiculous situation they're in. First time to me it's really mocked in both situations which makes me more hopeful it will change by seasons end. RoRo Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Thanks Heres2u for the taping info!! The episode sounds sweet and funny. Can't wait to see the edited version. I have always thought they should move Amy into 4A, would make for interesting storylines. In rewatching a few of the early seasons I had forgotten just how socially awkward Amy was/still is. I have always thought the Shamy engagement is going to happen when we least expect it. just my opinion

I think, even Sheldon has been a little more mature about his relationship as he and Amy reunited, he needs to get mature yet in so many things. I dont see it as he is treating her bad, what I see is a adult that is a big boy that becomes even more boyish as he is with is mother in same room. That's why I loved to know that Mary said that quote about Amy would figure out a way of make him to be always respectful to her. Glad to know also that Amy doesnt forget about the ring (how could she? ) even she officially hasnt it yet on her finger. Although some jokes that must be done in this show as it is a sitcom, some bothers me and others dont and the sex joke can really result as seeing it as a way of Sheldon be proud of "do it right and with talent" to Amy and as she thinks he , well, you know, "wel endowed hehe! After all, as Leonard said once "they are a pair of weirdos" and they will still be, for our fun ;) And I am no worry about the way the writters make "the three married thing". Through the seasons have been some interisting twists about some situations so I believe there will be evolution in living arrangements for shamy. Even faster that the ring on Amy 's finger, imo. Jonny Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) Let's throw out a hypothetical out there that I don't think will happen but which could be fun. 2016 is a Leap Year, going back several hundred years in Ireland and Britain there was this belief that a woman could only propose marriage to a man on a leap year, this was changed to a leap day but the original premise was that it was over the course of a year I believe. What happens if Amy gets fed up of waiting and proposes to Sheldon? What would Sheldon make of it? There could be some reference to the Leap Year historical context, Amy especially is into old English customs and references. I don't think it will happen as I believe that he will want to be the one who proposes and so will Amy I would assume. But it throws an interesting idea out there and for some fun discussion. boys3allc Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Thank you @heres2U On the whole I love the way the episode sounds! The genitals line is amazing! I know I tend to be a starry eyed moon calf. However I take that as a sign Amy has seen those genitals more than once. Like that is her version of dirty talk. "Oh Sheldon! Your genitals are a sight to behold." Also goes in with my theory that boy is hung like a horse. Lol With the Amy expecting a proposal thing I lovec it and it is IC for her to expect it. I expected it! Sheldon relies heavily social cues for his beahvior. Why would'nt being at a wedding remind him that "hey! I have a ring too!" Neither them are very socially appropiate so him asking her there and her expecting it seem like a funny thing. It brings the ring back to our attention after being shelved in the latter half of last season. I fully expect this to be a running gag until it happens. Amy thinks this is it. Then Bazinga! Nope. Until it actally happens in an awesome sweet totally Sheldony way. The only thing I disliked was tbe whole threeway marriage thing. I hated the metaphorical threeway marriage last season. I hate the official one even more. It ain't cute any more and leaves a bad taste in my mouth. However I hope this is the writers acknowledging that yep this is weird and working on fixing it. And not them making this freak show official. Sheldon being rude to Amy is just how it is. Its like being mad at early Raj for not speaking to women. He's a sour patch kid. First he's sour, then he's sweet. If he was sudenly respectful and solicitous to Amy then that would be weird. Sheldon is a bit of a dick. Okay he is a huge dick. But we love him for it. We live for the moments that he is sweet because that is OOC. It makes us go Awww!! Penny's family sounds funny and all the other guest stars sound great. Can't wait for it to air.
