I think if Sheldon had feelings for Ramona, proposing wouldn't have been his reaction. He probably would have gone hiding, or perhaps run away again. It's also the craziest idea ever, as Sheldon has never been more head over heels for Amy as he's been lately. I am choosing to believe based on everything we saw that Ramona's kiss simply reiterated his commitment to Amy, and he wanted to make it as official as possible. But while Sheldon and Ramona did become very friendly very quickly, I think it was that way because Sheldon is just a warmer, friendlier person these days. But he always refers to Ramona as Dr. Nowitski, however, and even goes on to call her a friendly colleague.

While I see Sheldon as innocent in this situation, there are no witnesses to Ramona's advances, so it will be interesting to see how things get worded when he talks with Amy. And they do need to talk. Amy has to know something is up. Her face when he's on one knee is of shock, of course, but maybe also some concern? Like, "What did Ramona do to you that made you fly across the country?" Perhaps they will bring Ramona back in the opener to assure Amy that Sheldon had no reaction to the kiss?

While I don't see any outcome that would lead to a "no" from Amy (TPTB would be idiots if they did this, as the fandom would riot), I do think we will have a deferred "yes" over an immediate "yes". Deferred as in by the end of the season premiere. I think Amy will question what's going on, they will talk, comedy will ensue somewhere in there, and by the end of the episode, Sheldon proposes again and Amy happily says yes. That would be the ideal scenario for me!

she may have panicked at first but IMO by the gang worrying it only solidified the fear in her mind that she SHOULD be worried. 

It's like with Beverly this season. Amy got defensive (in a panicked way) about their relationship at first but once she calmed down, by that night she was able to discuss it in a more even headed manner.

Once she knows all the details (I'm sure that WILD imagination of hers can be a double edged sword) they can discuss it without too much unnessacary drama.

If Mayim hadn't just signed on for the next 2 years.....yeah, that comment might have me worried but I'm not now.  YEAH!!  Besides he was clueless (in a way, they ALL are).  And once he realized he was wrong in his thinking about them being just friends, he took his own advice about stepping away but went one further.  Or two....Or three....

Seeing Sheldon watching Spongebob on the plane was all I needed to see just how calm he was regarding his intentions.   He was not running away from a gulity conscience, but running toward his future made clear by Ramona's stolen kiss.  There can never be any other woman for him but Amy, and girlfriend status will no longer suffice.

I totally LOVED everything about this episode, especially the tag. So poignant and perfectly echoing the emotions of Sheldon seeing Amy kissing Dave last season.

Sheldon initiated cuddling 

That convention we were promised (flag, comic con, maybe a wedding convention?)

The episode was pretty much what I had expected, except for the Sheldon going to Princeton sequence. I though Sheldon would be in running mode to get there for comedic effect but he was all calm. I agree with @jenafan that this shows he knew what he was doing and it wasn't a decision made on the spot.

I loved the Skype calls (especially the first) and enjoyed the rest for what it was but I'll need to see 11.1 to be able to appreciate it. I hope next season they'll talk about this and Amy will know what happened. Sheldon obviously didn't participate in the kiss - his eyes were open in shock the whole time. Btw, the moment I saw Amy's apt's hallway I knew they were reusing Amy's old apt.

All in all it was a very good episode on it's own but I need to see the other half of the proposal to form a final opinion.

Am I the only one who doesn't think there needs to be a big "Ramona kissed me" conversation in 11.1? I'm not suggesting he should keep it from her, or that he would. I'm just not at all convinced it will matter enough to be something we see on screen.

I have mixed feelings about that episode. I want to love it and be super positive like everyone on here, but it made me a little uncomfortable to watch. I have no doubt that Shamy will be great next year, and this will be a catalyst for them to talk and work it out and eventually make a commitment to each other. It’s clear how much Sheldon loves Amy and that he is attracted to her (thank you last week’s wonderful episode). However, it was weird to watch Sheldon letting someone else touch him, smiling at someone else, and telling someone else he enjoyed spending time with them. I get that it is an innocent friendship, perhaps like enjoying spending time with the guy on the train, but it still made me feel a little squirmy, as a shipper … like maybe there was a tiny speck of something there, even if it was just a bit of Ramona being a surrogate for his girlfriend while she is away or something. Honestly, I didn’t expect Sheldon to be so into the friendship. I expected him to be a bit more stoic and oblivious.

I did enjoy the gesture of Sheldon flying across the country to propose to Amy, but it was tainted a bit for me because the episode was not about Sheldon & Amy, but about Sheldon and this new stalker friend. I’m sure 11.1 will be awesome and will totally make up for it, but the ending made me firmly in the camp of Amy not saying yes right away. I’d rather a talk happens where it’s clear that Sheldon wants to marry Amy for the right reasons, not because he got a little freaked out or feels guilty (even if of course what happened is 100% not his fault). I think they’re clearly ready to make a commitment to each other, but as a viewer and shipper, I want it to be about them. Also, I think Amy knows Sheldon well enough to know something is out of the ordinary here.

Despite my discomfort about the dynamics, I did actually think this was a really well written episode. I understand the concerns of people who felt like other characters were marginalized, but I loved the group dynamic and the clear concern and love that they all have for each other and the Shamy relationship. Melissa was hilarious in this episode and the walking down the stairs bit was adorable. And the first Skype call was the best! Overall I’m really looking forward to getting back to Shamy’s wonderful relationship and dynamic next season

I actually went "Aawwww!" when I read it. I mean, how cute is that? She - as Mayim - feels so protective of Shamy that it made her feel uncomfortable when Riki kissed Jim in the rehearsels?

Plus (from Molaro's interview): Everybody was so touched by that final scene that they choked up? And Kaley couldn't stop crying? Now really guys, that's so sweet!

Of course there is Ramona, but a little drama is apparently needed to make Sheldon realize: "No need to wait til Amy comes home!" I know it is not mentioned anywhere, but when Amy left for Princeton I thought Sheldon would surprise her on her return with a romantic welcome-home-dinner and an even more romantic proposal.

Okay, I would have preferred the latter, but hey, this was so romantic, too!

Will they talk? Of course! Amy will ask what happened, why he flew across the country all of a sudden. And Sheldon will tell her, why shouldn't he? Will Amy be mad at him? No, no reason for that. Will she be mad at Ramona? Hell, yes! After all: The kiss was imposed upon Sheldon by her! So she has every right to be mad at her. And immensely proud of Sheldon!

But what does it mean for Shamy? IMHO it means that even a girl that is as smart as Amy and in addition tall, blond and an olympic swimmer is not capable of doing any damage to Shamy.

It was great seeing all these group scenes and the camaraderie between the gang. It's true that they throw digs at each other a lot of the time but when it counts they're there for each other. As a Shamy shipper I'll wait for 11.1 to give my final verdict but otherwise the episode had a bit of everything. I believe the kiss with Ramona and Sheldon's reaction to it was meant to say: This kiss feels different. It doesn't feel like when Amy kisses me. I now know I can only ever kiss Amy, love Amy. I don't want another. I want Amy for the rest of my life. I need to propose.  I want to marry Amy.  

I figure this is the thought process Sheldon had during the Ramona kiss.

The proposal does seem so out of the blue, but we all knew he had the ring and has been contemplating marriage.  It is more the circumstances behind the proposal that seem odd. I mean, really, why bring Ramona after all thses years? There are millions ways the writers could have had Sheldon propose.

I would have thought he would be the most traditional when it came to proposing, and it a way it was, but I guess the writers wanted something unexpected. 

 

Now, Amy needs to say yes and have Sheldon ask her mom for her hand in marriage.

Mayim brought up a good point in her GN post: "I know that might sound silly and I respect Riki as an actor tremendously, but I can’t help but feel like something that was ‘mine’ was being imposed upon! We’ll see if that continues next season; I have no clue if it will!"

I've considered that S11 will begin with the gang worried about where Sheldon is and I've wondered what Amy's answer will be (given the circumstances that got him there), but I never thought about Ramona's role in the long-term. With her working at Cal Tech now, there will need to be some resolution that explains her disappearance... if she does, in fact, disappear. I'm hoping and praying against it, but they could use her to stir things up for as long as they see necessary. I'd suggest that she'll disappear like Mandy did, but Ramona actually has feelings for Sheldon whereas Mandy didn't care about Leonard at all. Since I know the cast and crew love Riki, it is a bit worrisome that they'll choose to keep her around.

Which also causes me to question time and how it will work in S11. Do they come back exactly where we left off? Do we get flashbacks? Do we only hear about what happened once Amy is back from Princeton? If they return where they left off, how do they time-jump past Amy's Summer at Princeton? Does that mean she has to quit the fellowship? How many answers are we really going to get if what happens after the proposal is only ever explained through conversations between the characters? 

So many questions and an entire summer to torture myself with even more.

My dear shamies, when I saw the Sheldon photo on his knee as he proposed Amy and the very short vid of the tag at 3:00 am I was teary eyed of hapiness. That sequence of Sheldon 's steps from the moment he was kissed by Ramona  until Amy opened he door as looked at him in schock was really an emotional moment for me as shipper. It was really happening and the cliffanger was really well built! It may sound crazy but I couldn't  be cool without watching the whole thing as soon as possible  

Usually words came out easily for comment the episode but this time I think I needed to take a bit more of time before post here my thoughts as I watched the episode at 5:00 am.  It doesn't  mean I didn't enjoy the episode because I really did. Everything the gang made to protect shamy was amazing and even the scenes with Ramona were less bad to me than I thought they would. There are so many things to discuss that my brain is overloaded , lol! But we have a whole hiatus time for analyse everything together without any pressure.

So here is some side notes about the episode:

* I love Mayim being so protective of shamy.  I am myself too and I must confess I felt a bit uncomfortable about the kiss too. Just for the fact Sheldon was being kissed by another woman. Because about the rest I have never had doubts for the whole episode. Sheldon 's intentions about Ramona were zero romantic and he is even more in love with Amy. Sheldon did not cheat Amy neither wanted it! It could be said all reasons for some think Sheldon cheated that I dont buy any of them! Because imo he did not!

*Sheldon didn't kiss Ramona back,  he was in schock all time, open wide eyes and face muscles all tensed. Okay the kiss was not a quickie but it really matters? Surely a peck on lips would not turn to be a theme talk among fans for the hiatus but imo what matters is Sheldon did not initiate it, he did not want it and he got himself out from his office to the direction of his future. Amy was all time in his mind, he did not stop to talk about Amy to Ramona all time, he never hidden Ramona from Amy. Sheldon is now more open to show affection and for him he was doing a friend. Amy knew what was going on from the gang and from Sheldon through skype. What she doesnt know yet is about the kiss as it happened when Sheldon was alone with Ramona. But Sheldon doesnt lie and I believe shamy will clear everything after Sheldon's proposal. Actually I see Amy questioning him why in that moment and even express she was a bit mad and why about Ramona. Then they might setle about the ring . Honestly I dont see a big drama being dragged out about all of this between shamy.  They usually talk about things and Amy knew part of what was going on and knows how Sheldon still fails reading emotions or messed them up. Besides it would be  pure non sense if Amy said she was not ready for say yes to Sheldon  imo. 11.01 is indeed the most wanted tv show premiere , lol!

* The skype bliss. Love all of them, especialy the grammar flirty talk. It was priceless the Amy's  answer to the" nice to meet you" from Ramona, lol!

* Pissed Amy: am I the only one that loved it so much? The ketchup tip was priceless, LOL! 

* The girls on skype. Loved it, especially how Penny tried to help shamy. She is a shipper through and through!

* Bernie was imo the hero of the night. On couch and on stairs, one of the funniest scenes from the season. Really enjoyed how the group showed they care for each other as friends do. I would really like we have more of that for next seasons.

* SpongeBob.  A great choice! It reminded me when shamy was trying to be friends after the breaking up and failed . At present SpongeBob reminded how relaxed was Sheldon to take a step foward in his relationship to next level. And this time he did not failed, he really  proposed to Amy! I love these litle details!

And last but not least, Sheldon  seemed determined and calm as he decided to see Amy and propose. That whole mess with Ramona imo made Sheldon realize that was time for he did what was in his mind for a while, which was bringing the way for he and Amy spend the rest of their lives together as husband and wife.  I don't think Sheldon felt any guilty, he did not make anything to contribute to Ramona’s actions. And it is very ic for Sheldon seek Amy as he needs to talk about something.  

Sheldon would not sleep again as he didn't show to Amy he was ready to propose and also do clear about what happened with Ramona.

 

Now going to work without sleeping, lol! Too old for this, hehe!
