Ship Zone [Spoilers] Shamy: Season 10

It's interesting how Amy put coitus off the table, possibly within the same season she has her mice-orgasm experiment.

Now add that with the knowledge that Sheldon thinks Amy's "science talk" is "sexy talk" which implies that he finds it a turn on. 

Hearing Amy talk about her mice experiment in detail, while not being able to act on it due to Amy's request: seems to be a proper storm for  

1.) Horny Sheldon (him struggling between his sense of chivalry to honor her request and his desires) 

2.) The topic of coitus revisited.  

Character growth, while keeping in character, and leaving things open for future stories? Good things are a coming Shamies. I was smiling like an idiot and I couldn't get these moments out of my head all day. 

I'll give the writers extra points if they make a very grumpy sheldon say "Sure, with me it's 'off the table' but practically blind rodents get to have the time of their lives."

Greetings TBBT Fan Forum! And a special hello to my fellow Shamy Shippers 

As this is my first post, I just wanted to take the opportunity to say that I have enjoyed reading the discussion threads, particularly Shamy’s. 

10.04 sounds like a tour de force episode. There are so many elements involved that push Sheldon’s and Amy’s relationship forward.

Kudos to NotWonderland! You are so wonderful and generous with TR and additional tidbits.

Shamy’s bed scene had me in stitches…it was hilarious! I loved reading about the spooning part and how Amy smiles at Sheldon (too cute!).  I cannot wait to see how it pans out on screen.

And to the writers for this episode, I’ll tweak Bernie’s line from episode 200: “I can’t think of anything to say that hasn’t already been said, so…here’s to you, writers.”

I can SOO see Sheldon saying that after a few weeks. I can't see Amy going back to her own place after this. Still at work. Hell's sake! So much to say!

Yes to everything in your post! A little caveat on this one though:

I fear it's inevitable that we won't spend all too many episodes with Shamy in 4B. The show is still kinda fast forwarding through the summer and judging by the fact that Howardette are talking about the baby's sex, which can be determined by the 5th or 6th month, I'm guessing we're currently somewhen in July/August. So it's quite some time difference between that and the air dates. I think they'll want to catch up with real time somewhen during Nov sweeps like they did last year with Thanksgiving which should give them another 2 or 3 episodes to cover Sept/Oct.

Long story short: I think at best we can get another episode with them towards the end of the 5 weeks. Maybe we get to see their 4B routines in action. Maybe we get to see some talk assessing whether or not the experiment was a success. Maybe we get to see them a bit antsy about the end of the experiment and what happens after that. Maybe we get to see them deciding to finish off their experiment with a big bang... who knows?

So yeah, I wouldn't be too mad if those 5 weeks fly by as long as we get to see the results somehow. It also leads to some great story potential.

I think whatever reservations the writers might have had with increasing their physical intimacy (beyond special events) should be gone after they leave those two for 5 weeks sharing a bed. Although I guess the first objective for Shamy will be to getting used to sharing a bed by finding something that calms Sheldon's movements down and lets Amy sleep so there might not be much naughty stuff going on at first. (Then again, maybe they find coitus can help with that, too?? LOL) But spending so much time so intimately will undoubtedly affect them. Heck, it probably already affected Sheldon hence why he won't let her quit so easily!

Other fun post-experimental story ideas: If they are going back to normal at first we could have them missing each other's company and the new routines. Maybe Sheldon is mopy around Lenny cause living with Amy was more fun. Maybe one sleepless night he'll just show up on Amy's doorstep for a cuddle or more. Making plans to move in together which could be another lovely moment.

Not to mention the story ideas from SDCC:

- Spockumentary (Sept)

- flag convention (NAVA 50 in Oct??)

- Amy's mice experiments (???)

A lot of good stuff to come! :D

The scene when amy gets into the bed was live the one of them through the night him jumping around and her falling out was pretaped

I agree, it would be a case of one big step forward and then another big step back. Hypothetically if it turns out they can't live together after 5 weeks then what's the best case scenario afterwards? They try again at some further point down the line? It could be hugely damaging for their relationship.

I agree I think it's permanent, I see only trouble ahead if they reverse it or the experiment doesn't work out. I'm 99.9% confident the writers won't do that.

Yes and no. I do think that the long term plan here is to have them move in together. I don't think they'll decide "Oh this didn't work out so let's never talk of this again!"

However, I can imagine them maybe getting back to their old LAs for a little while. I mean, from a story point of view Amy probably needs to sort out her apartment first after the repairs are done or maybe some other thing is coming up that prevents a move at the time. But after 5 weeks of living together and sharing a bed I think spending a bit of time in their old environment will rather be a time of them missing each other's company, maybe finding silly reasons to spend the night with each other, or other cute little plots. I don't think it'll cause much damage as long as they're on the same page. It can be done so I'm not ruling this option out right away.

Do you remember when we all were wishing Shamy could share a hotel room for the Flag Convention? Well...now it's not a issue any more, LOL!!!

OMG Yes!! Now I'm starting to think it really might even be a getaway planned by Sheldon to have some more alone time with Amy (with the added bonus of, you know, having fun with flags hehe) - assuming they go with the "not immediately living with each other but looking for any excuse to spend more nights together" idea. So basically Sheldon's idea of a romantic weekend! <3

The options this episode opened to our shamy are so many and of that kind of great ones...it is impossible that there is a one single tbbt fan unhappy today, as they have read those wonderful and perfect spoilers.

I believe writers wont let us down this season,  even next episode might happen after those 5 weeks *crosses fingers and toes for it takes a bit longer*

Okay...random thoughts (and if others have already stated these, I apologize, there has been A LOT to absorb)

• Amy takes coitus "off the table".  You can't take something "off the table" if it wasn't "on the table" in the first place.
• I think that they are going to time-jump forward in the next episode. Here's why...I think that Bernie will have her baby during November sweeps. If in BBT time it is say, August and she is now about 6 months pregnant, jumping forward brings them into early October, practically catching the show up with the "real world".  It puts Bernie at about 7 1/2 months pregnant and allows them to start prepping for the birth along with celebrating holidays (if they should wish to do so...Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc).
• Regarding S/A...time jumping them forward might bring us to the very end of their "experiment".  They could play with the repercussions that it has had on both S/A and L/P.  Does Sheldon move back to 4A only to discover that he is no longer happy there, can't sleep alone, L/P are getting on his nerves. 
• I laughed so hard of the description of S/A in bed.  Him tossing and turning, hogging all the space and then Amy finally landing on the floor.  I can not wait to see this.  Captain Jim wanted another bed scene and he got it...and he is so good at physical comedy, I am expecting this to be awesome.
• The BTS tidbits....such high spirits for the 4 of them...to the point (as it was described) they were laughing so hard in the hallway, they had to halt the taping and wait for them to compose themselves.  
• This EW article from 9/8/16 makes so much more sense now.
• I know we haven't seen anything yet but it feels to me, that this season seems really solid so far.

That's all I can think of for now, it sounds like an amazing episode. 

P.S. One of my favorite thing from Twitter today.  Dave Zobel, who wrote "The Science of The Big Bang Theory" recently took a tour of Caltech...very, very early on in the series David Saltzberg arranged for a tour of Caltech for Jim and Johnny....

My two adult children are back living at my home for a bit, so they are both up stomping around at 6:30 am getting ready for work....woke me up, but I didn't want to get in their way.  So I stayed in bed, grabbed my phone and started searching for the taping report..got about half way through it and dropped my phone on my face....shock and awe...lol.

Gave up on staying in bed and got up, made coffee and sat at the kitchen table on my phone reading pages and pages of comments, all the while grunting at them and waving my hand in annoyance whenever they said something to me.  I am a good BBT fan, but possibly a bad mom...lol

I honestly don't know what to think anymore.  On one hand, it doesn't make sense to take something off the table that wasn't there to begin with.  Why would she say that?  

On the other, maybe she was trying to reassure him that it wasn't something she was going to expect from him.  

The box still isn't opened for me yet.  I'll need to see the episodes first.

We never know what's going to be included and what's going to be cut out until an episode hits the telly, but here's my idea about 'coitus off the table' if that conversation's  left in.

If  Shamy are truly serious about applying scientific methodology to their shacking-up experiment, they need to begin with as few distractions as possible from what they are investigating. All foreseeable rewards and losses have to be eliminated before a sociological experiment is undertaken. However often or not they have or haven't already made love, we know it's not part of their nightly routine so far. If additional frequency of coitus was a benefit of their living in the same space it would blur the results. Coitus is of course a factor that can be added later and comparisons made.  Yeah, right ! Methodology Schmethodolgy.

Who the bleep are they kidding ? A grown man and woman, in love and already physically lovers to some extent or other, sharing the same bed where at least one of them wants to 'snuggle', will be able to refrain from coitus for how long ? Oh Per-leeze.

Yeah if they share a bed for 5 weeks I think its likely something will happen during that timespan. Sheldon sounds up for it lol, and I could easily see Amy feeling the same once she feels more comfortable living with him.

She also added caveat of reviewing that stance a bit later so there is scope for her to change her mind.

Perhaps as it is labeled as an experiment, coitus really isn't a focus for her right now. They have slept together, know what it is like and know it will happen again. Its more to do with just learning to live with each other and the various quirks they each have.

If it turns out coitus didn't happen again but we hear that the experiment was a success and they are really happy then that's fine by me. Sleeping together will happen again at some point, its inevitable so I don't really worry about it for them.

If they end up make the living situation permanent whether that involves a small break after the experiment to assess or not it's a huge milestone for them and further proof they are heading in the right direction.
