Oh yes, please! Unless we're getting a different explanation my current theory is that Sheldon is simply sticking to their birthday sex agreement and being oblivious to Amy's flirting attempts he probably doesn't think to bring it up himself. So yes, I agree that it would need to be brought up one way or another. I always thought Amy should tell him bluntly what she wants but your idea of basically making it about what he wants would be an interesting twist as well. I'd love to see how he'd deal with the situation when he's forced to think about their physical intimacy outside of schedules or special occasions or whatever. Following his gut instinct is not something he's particularly used to so it would also have a lot of comedy potential and I dearly hope the writers will exploit that one day!

The way he has wrapped his arm around her and she has wrapped her arm around neck, before she wraps it around his back. I get goose pimples everywhere, everytime I see it. It´ll be hard to excel.

Let´s hope that Sheldon will follow his heart in season 10, when it comes to decisions that concern him and Amy.

Sorry guys for not contributing anything to this thread, my mind has been very scattered lately. I think that the first episodes will be very important for Shamy, meaning that some kind of development will happen in one of them. In general I think we have many exciting things to look forward to in this season. We don't know how Lenny's wedding will be handled and I think a lot will depend on that (for ex. the # of eps it will last).

Anyway, I think there will be something about their sex life connected to sleepovers (and maybe even living arrangements changing a bit with P and L living more in 4b) in the first eps that will also go along with Lenny's wedding. IMO the engagement will come later in the season.

After staring at this kiss for way too long, I've concluded that this kiss is not a kiss of novice kissers .  Those lips know each other.  Well.  : )  I must conclude that date night kisses progressed over the years and some canoodling must have occurred in the fort.

They were surely practising. What I think is interesting is how their body language has changed over the years. While Sheldon has always acted very stiff and awkward, when Amy asked him for physical contact (just think of the first time they cuddled) or when she kissed him, his body language changed when he initiated the kiss, because he was realizing that his feelings had changed. His actions were like you would expect a man in love to act. And this surprised me, because I was expecting  his actions to develop slowly, but I guess that his feelings for Amy changed him and that his heart took control over his body.

Amy on the other hand, had to learn where to put her hands and what to do.

OK, I must admit the first SIK came unexpected for her but even when they kissed for the second time on screen, she was stiff, her hands next to her body, like during the first SIK. This somehow changed in episode 8x24, where Amy´s hands were resting on Sheldon, while they were making out, because as you said @nibbler747 they have been practising off screen. (Unfortunately we couldn´t see it! ) I want to believe as well, that they were spending the night in the fort together, making out slowly and intensely under all these little bulbs shining from above. (What a romantic atmosphere!)

Sheldon has always  being mocking about how Amy has turned into a touchy-feely woman, but to be honest, when it comes to situations like in 9x11, it is Amy who is spending too much thoughts about what might happen when they are doing it and is therefore all nervous, while Sheldon is totally calm and doesn´t waste any thoughts about it and even encourages Amy to just find out together. I love these role changes! I mean it would have been sweet if Sheldon  had freaked out, because he has his issues with physical contact and would be all nervous and shaking, but does it anyway, because he wants to show Amy how much he loves her, but that´s not the writers point.

Their point is, that even if physical contact is a big step for Sheldon, he overcomes his fears, because he loves her deeply and knows that there´s nothing he has to fear about, because he is with Amy and that he can trust her. And this makes my heart skip a beat every time I see this episode.

I did my part selecting quite a few Shamy related episodes on my ballot submission. Opening Night should do well and should go down as a top 10 maybe top 5 episode of all time. It's certainly in my top 5. Last time I looked Troll Manifestation wasn't on the top 16 so far, I am hoping it does get more love as it was an excellent episode.

I have watched Opening Night around 20 times lol I have it recorded on my Sky Plus box. I think it's season 9's Magnum Opus and up there with the best work the show has ever done.

I think it's natural that their 'technique' so to speak has improved as they have gotten used to more experiences and their feelings for each other have become stronger. Leonard iirc once said to Howard he had seen them kissing before and it wasn't romantic but that was pretty early on in their relationship.They started out pretty much like a pair of teenagers experiencing their first kiss or first boyfriend/girlfriend scenario but it's clearly moved on from that.

Up to this episode, I have been always unspoiled, I didn´t know it was coming, until it happened. I even had to rewind the Locomotive episode several times, before I really could believe it was happening. Sheldon always acted calm and sometimes indifferent towards Amy. But as soon as he kissed her, something changed and he turned from the boy who liked trains, comics and science, to a man full of desire and passion. And this surprised me, because I was always hoping it to happen, but I had never thought, that it would actually happen. It was really surprising how his feelings turned him from one second to another. It was like watching a caterpillar turning into a butterfly.

Even Sheldon was surprised of himself, I loved the way the tone in his voice changed and how he swallowed and how his whole behaviour changed towards her. Before that, he was angry and furious and after that, he was shy and he was searching for words, because he didn´t know, what had just happened and he was so sweet, when he asked her if she wanted to watch how the conductor would bring the train through a crossing.

I think it surprised everyone including Sheldon. The kiss clearly started off as part of a rant of what Amy wanted but after a couple of seconds you could tell he was enjoying it when he started to move his body closer and put his hand on her side. Then like you said after it seemed to have took his breath away. On a side note i loved how Leonard tried to get Sheldon to rank in order the experiences on the train when he got back and he couldn't, the guy absolutely loves trains but he couldn't categorically put it above the Amy kiss so that says a lot.

Sheldon has shown he is capable of showing passionate displays of affection towards Amy and we should see more of it.

I used that principle, in one of my fanfics.

I also had Amy be the less sure of the two, because I think, once Sheldon has decided on something, he commits totally, whereas Amy, for all her bravado, has her concerns and doubts.

I wish I had the time to read fanfics, but I have not much time for it at the moment. You are right, once Sheldon has made a decision, he doesn´t hesitate for one second and goes all for it. That was the case, when he realised that he wanted to become Amy´s boyfriend, when he wanted to ask Amy to marry him and of course when he decided to fight for Amy, to get her back. I mean his heart knew that he wanted Amy back and even his mind was trying to tell him to reconcile with her, torturing him with this "Darlin" earworm until he understood the message and ran to her. Yeah, heartworms are difficult to ditch! Once it has nested in Sheldon´s heart, it´s not going to leave its host again.

I have just watched "The Mommy Observation" and there´s one sentence that confused me a bit.

When Howard and Sheldon went out for a beer and Howard tells Sheldon that his mother is a grown up man, Sheldon answers:

" I used to live in those genitals. And if someone wants to move into my old room, I should at least get a vote."

Does he really think, that if this relationship got serious, that his mother´s friend would move into his old room and not into his mother´s dormitory?

Is that his definition of living with a partner, because his parents had separate dormitories, when his father was still alive?

Or was this just a joke that had no meaning?

I can understand that he and Leonard have to two different rooms, even if I must say, that it would have been hilarious, if they shared one room (a bunk bed), because the apartment had only one.

Imagine Penny´s surprised face, if Leonard had offered her to have sex with him in a bunk bed, while Sheldon was sleeping above.

It would have been hilarious, if Sheldon had woken up in the middle of the night, because the bunk bed was shaking and had screamed "OMG an earthquake, wake up Leonard!"

BTW my favorite scene of the episode was the following:

Sheldon: Mother, if you’re going to conduct your life in this fashion, then I should let you know that the world has changed since you were a young woman. You know, it’s not all sock hops, soda jerks and segregation anymore.

Desdemona, I think Sheldon's line "I used to live in those genitals. And if someone wants to move into my old room, I should at least get a vote," means that Sheldon was in his mother's womb ("his old room") as a fetus.  If a man wants to have sex with his mother ("move into his old room"), he should get a say in it.

This was my first thought as well PatsyR. 

But then I thought, that he meant it literally, because his mother´s friend can´t get into her womb tecnically and Sheldon knows that and wouldn´t have meant it, this way. But on the other hand, maybe it was a sex comment. Who would understand Sheldon´s issues regarding his mother´s sex life, better than Howard, who has caught his  mother in such a situation as well?

But thank you for confirming my first thought, I wasn´t sure, if I understood it correctly.

I've just finished S4 of my pre-S10 summer rewatch. That was fun! Some scattered thoughts:

4x01:
- I'm so digging the Shamy! <3
- This whole thing about them planning to procreate just kills me every time. Amy made the suggestion and Sheldon apparently jumped on board to the point of wanting to raise the kid alone??? Or at least that's what it sounds like when he muses about how she might want to have access to the child. Like, did you think that through, Shelly??? And he's still so confident at the end of the date until Penny talks him out of it. I... just... this guy. lol

4x03:
- Counterfactuals!! They are so cute! :D
- Amy's introduction to the gang though, omg, homegirl is really going in, hahaha!
- Their first fight. Aww, babies!
- Sheldon turning into a crazy cat lady over Amy is such a delightful mix of being heartbreaking but also hilarious. Also, I just love cats!
- I always love seeing Mary on the show and she was so great here. <3

4x05:
- "Leonard, you are my best friend. I’ve known you for seven years, and I can barely tolerate sitting on the couch with you. Imagine my attitude regarding prolonged physical proximity to Amy Farrah Fowler."
Yeah, what would that do to you?? Hmmm...

- Reminder: this is the same episode where they pretend to have sex when they're skyping Amy's mother.
- "Amy, I find myself wondering if we should actually engage in coitus at least one time in our relationship." Yeah, Sheldon, tell us mroe about your long-term relationship goals! LMAO

4x10:
- "Let's look at this logically. [...] I have genitals, I have the potential for sexual arousal." - "A cross we all must bear." He then proceeds to explain how "in difficult moments like this" he "often" uses kolinahr to calm himself down. Oh Sheldon.
- Amy calling him out on his jealousy always cracks me up. lol
- Aww, poor Shelly seems so upset but still tries to be a good friend.
- Awwwwww they hold hands. <3

4x20:
- This whole ep is gold, what can I say? lmao
- Shamy goofing off on science and social experiments is so cute <3
- it's a little early but it's already our "the gang reacts to Shamy having sex" episode. I guess having this after 9x11 would be just much of the same (not that it wouldn't be hilarious anyway) so I can see why the writers might not have repeated the whole thing.

4x21:
- Priya vs. Sheldon fight is so entertaining and I just love how the girls drag Sheldon along to a fun night out. Can we have that again, please????
- drunk Amy hitting on Sheldon is so funny omg
- "Amy and Sheldon sitting in a tree, K I S S S S I N G." - "That's too many S's for 'kissing'." - Not if they're doing it for a long time!" You have the right idea, Bernie! LOL

- They dance!! They kiss!! AWWWWWW!!! :D
- I think this is the first time we see Amy's apartment, isn't it? We saw some backgrounds during their various skyping sessions before that could have been her home but this is the first time she's letting us in. Well, with "us" I mean Sheldon, of course.

General thoughts and observations:
- Sheldon starts out incredibly unsure about the whole Amy thing but always comes back around because of course. Life is better with Amy in it, no doubt about that! On a production level though it made me think that they wanted to have a handy cop out ready just in case it didn't work out with Mayim (IIRC she said that she was still teaching part time at that point) or the idea of giving Sheldon a girlfriend would cause some sort of backlash. After all they had Melissa/Bernie from early in S3 as well but she was only in a handful of episodes and then vanished for a while before eventually coming back.
- As the season progresses though I feel they got more and more confident with Amy (and Bernie for that matter) smoothing her rough edges and she feels more and more like "our" Amy (for lack of a better description). Especially after she joins the girls she really comes to life. Did I mention how much I just love having the girls around? <3
- I love how this season already gives us all the cornerstones of their relationship through the years. Their effortless bonding over games, science and social experiments etc. The skype calls. Amy guiding him through social situations. Sheldon allowing her certain concessions he probably wouldn't for anyone else. And of course the endless teases of what might develop between them physically - complete with an appetizer to boot! LOL

Anyway - on to S5!! :D

 I´m getting nostalgic thinking back of all the great moments season 4 had!

I miss them too Amethyst! And I´m getting nervous, because I want to know what will happen in season 10.

I really hope we get some hot make out scenes. And hopefully, Shamy dancing some tango or how about a square dance?

They could visit Mrs. Cooper, because there´s barn festival in Texas, so they dress up for this ocassion.

I´m sure, Sheldon would look amazing in some tight jeans, boots, a plaid shirt and a cowboy hat.

Imagine Amy appears in a nice gown, that fits to a barn festival and walks towards Sheldon, who is totally stunned by her appearance, so much so, that he takes off his his hat and starts to twiddle with it, while his eyes are still glued on Amy.

And while he turns his hat around between his hands he asks her, if she wants to dance with him. Amy nods slowly, so he grabs her hand and they walk towards the other people dancing, while they would hold hands.

And after the festival Sheldon would take Amy to a quiet place. He would look into her eyes, full of love, while he would slowly get on his knees. Then he would take off his hat, pull out a little box and ask her: "Amy Farrah Fowler, will you marry me?"

I wish it would be possible, to extract thoughts and to depict them on screen, so you could see the scene that is unfolding in front of my eyes.
