Really?  My wife and I didn't go through anything like that, even 20-30 years into our marriage (we hit forty this year and we haven't had anything like this).  At what point in your marriage did this happen to you, that you found it so realistic?

It seems single people have found it more realistic than married couples.

Yes, but that doesn't answer the question why anyone would think Johnny doesn't like the scenes or the material he has to work with.

Because season 1 was more centered around Leonard than season 10.

Not all single people, this single man finds the Lenny plot ridiculous, and don't get me started on the RA.

It is nice that Lenny gets more screen time but the writers should have chosen something else as their plot.

I am not a lenny  but I 'd like to say I am rooting for everything goes well to them as it used to be. And I 'd like to say that I loved Kaley and Johnny's performances in last episode, especially Johnny's.  The love Leonard feels for Penny is something powerfull and beautiful  that Johnny performs so well and the character's pain  this week was so well done by him that I felt teary eyed when he was in car in his way to spa for talk to her because Leonard could not be two days without trying to fix things between him and his wife.

Just my two cents about the love story of tbbt that I admire since pilot.  Hope you dont mind my word about it. :)

Thank you @spidergirl for your kind words about our little sweet couple.

I was trying to make a general statement while not pointing out specific posters. I apologize if you thought it was meant toward you. It wasn't. There are some who are adamant that married life is what's depicted by Lenny on the show. It isn't.

No need to apologize @Chrismo . I have no problem with your post at all.

As I posted on the discussion thread, no one can make an adamant, definitive statement whether this depiction is realistic or not. It's not for you or Tensor based on your personal experiences but for me during my 25 years, it is. And, single or married, you can have an opinion on it. I don't agree with the time frame of the depiction - this early into their marriage - based on my experience but sure there have been marriages like this outside the life experiences of our forum family.

That's my point too. Of course how we relate to the show and this current Lenny plot is depicted based on your own personal expereinces. I still stand by what they are doing with Lenny is very realistic. And maybe not all married couples can relate to it, but some. But I agree its existence on the tangent is the issue. They are too early into their marrage to be having these kinda issues. I mean these kinda issues you saw on one of my favorite sitcoms ever Everybody Loves Raymond. But Debra and Ray were well two decades into their marrage, and had kids. So it was funny, they made it funny. Problem with Lenny is you have seen their entire story. You have something to compare it too. If the show is going to do couples comedy it has to be funny. ATM it is just Dark.

Difference is Lenny don't have kids, and the show did not start well into their marrage. It started with them both single and independant. And we have seen this glorious relationship grow. And now were seeing some absurdities in their relationship. To be quite honest shoulden't be occuring. Only until later down the line. They have skipped all the fun plots.

I mean it would be fine if the pacing and balance was better. They had these kinda episodes, but balanced it out with fun, married life plots. But they seem to be sucking the life out of Penny. She should be written asa  fun, young wife. And TBH they were on the right track around 10.4-10.10. Somethign shifted. And now Penny feels listless, and tbh a bored housewife again. Hopefully we get a better balance latter half of the season.

1. What makes you think I'm single?

2. What makes you think your idea of a successful marriage is the best and applies to all married couples?

Which is, again, not answering my question.  Did he ever say or imply that he doesn't like it? No, he didn't. Did he ever say he likes it? Yes, he did. So, I'm asking you again: What makes you think he doesn't?

That is the biggest problem I have with the writing, ever since they married Lenny.    Penny has been shown as a person who loves life, she goes out and dances, is a big old '5' that will do her boyfriend in his lab and breaks chairs at bed and breakfasts, is messy and carefree, and is extremely street smart and outgoing.  Where did that girl go, it seems Penny's characteristics alone should bring fun and funny situations to their marriage, plus the both of them should have honeymooned, probably twice since the second marriage was like an anniversary.  The writers have definitely skipped all the fun parts.

Yeah defiantly, they have deconstructed Penny's character since They got married. I said boring, domesticated housewife. So your right instead of the "Wife feels under appreciated" trope. We should be seeing fun married life plots. But we're not, and that's dissapointing. I mean only time you could say she was "Fun" Penny. Was 10.04 Cohabitation Experientation. Writings an issue. I guess it's about balance, consistency, and pacing though. I mean it's fine seeing those angsty plots. If Penny not knowing what she wants etc. But not all the time. They maybe married. Doesent mean Penny had to stop enjoying life. She seems bored. Leonard does too tbh. That honeymoon could be a good idea for them in Season Finalie. They come back in S11 premeire. Rejuvenated.

Molaro thinks it is funny when Lenny fights, that's probably why we get these plots.

You are so right with this post about Penny, Penny is not the same girl as she used to be so asking where did that girl go is a really good question.

I think it would have been really nice and funny to see Lenny's honeymoon and I guess that Lenny has used the tickets from Sheldon and has been to San Francisco but we haven't heard a thing about it.

I certainly don't want TBBT to turn into a drama, but I do understand their need to fight once in a while. Even though they are a loving and married couple, at some point I think they just get fed up with each other and need some space. That doesn't mean they love each other any less, but when there's so much frustration built up over months or even years, and you feel like there's no opportunity to get rid of it, sometimes it's the best to let it all out. And that's a good thing because now they can work on these things.

And in the next episode we already see them hug and kiss again. :)

What a naughty carrot/ parrot.

I didn't say Skull couldn't have an opinion on it, I was just asking what part of his marriage made it realistic for him.

Now about the plot, let us first ask why did Penny fall in love with Leonard.  Leonard is cute and handsome, but honestly Penny can and has had better.  Leonard is smart, but actually that scares Penny because she sometimes thinks he will get bored with her.  He is her best friend, that is nice but most people don't marry their best friend and really just that is not enough.  He makes her feel loved and special, okay that is one that is real and important, Kurt never made her feel that way, Mike dumped her hours after their fight, she didn't even know TJ's name and her short, sometime only one night, hookups left her feeling bad after the alcohol wore off, she told Leonard.  But Leonard treats her special and it is obvious to her he loves her, it is the rock of her relationship with him, she even told him that at the pub in season 8.  And yes even though she tries not be romantic, she is, she keeps everything he gives her in a box, because it is him, she dresses up to look pretty for him, she knows how to make him happy and she has had romantic dinners with him.  So one evening she zones out and daydreams about him treating her special again, because lately even we know he is not trying, then suddenly he brings her out of her dream to a hard cold reality that maybe she is not special to him anymore, I can really see why she is upset and she needs to think.  Actually the Spa part, I see as being old Penny, she can't run away to her apartment anymore, so she basically ran away to the Spa for two days to get away from him.

You have to give Leonard credit though, he is stronger now and won't give her two days to stew about this, he is her husband now and doesn't back down when she tells him to go away.  So they have their talk and they BOTH come out thinking they could do better, so even though they admit it is weird they want a RA.

The tag has them in all smiles because they are addressing each other's needs, Penny wants the love and the feeling of being special again to Leonard and Leonard wants/needs Penny to be honest and open to him.

This seems like a very serious episode for Lenny with a lot of growth as a couple for them, that is why I liked it.

You explain it perfectly but fail to address some things: That Leonard not trying is OOC, that Leonard playing in his underwear is OOC, that no matter what Penny feels, Leonard shouldn't always be the only one who does 100 % of the heavy lifting, that 10 years of having done so should at least get him some slack, that the RA in and of itself is ridiculous for Lenny, that very little time ago she hid a lot of his collectibles without telling him, that she decorated their bedroom without consulting him.

The tag is indeed all smiles but seems completely unearned, at least to me.

Leonard actually gave Penny the right to decorate the bedroom.

Leonard says to Penny: decorate it anyway that makes you happy.

He gave her permission after Penny already redecorated the room ans she was hiding his nerd thing before that

No she didn't. She hid his collectibles but didn't redecorate until after Leonard gave her the go ahead to do so, in the bedroom, just after she told him he may feel some discomfort from where the Pink Ranger was going to be put

Haha. I loved that scene where penny implied that she was going to put it where the sun doesn't shine. :)

Penny hadn't done any redecoration when Leonard gave her permission to change the room.

It´s strange I am not longer attached to TBBT as I was long time ago, but Lenny are the rock, the foundation I always lean on. I deeply wish better storylines and more screen time. But even with only 2 minutes, I get my weekly doses. Yes I am furious on the writers, what they have done (or better said don´t do; let our couple shine) to Lenny. But even with weak or badly written material Johnny and Kaley still manage to outshine the others. And that is actually a big achievement. If this series ends, I don´t care much, but for them it could go on endlessly. And it will by this thread and the great memories about Lenny.

Yes to this. Johnny and Kaley nailed the last episode. It's just reminds me of the great chemistry those 2 have when they play Lenny. The emotions, their deliver and the pain they showed was eye watering. Only if we could have seen them talk, because when they talk you know it will be beautiful and sweet and no need for the bullshit RA and would have been the perfect episode, but god forbid anyone outshining the golden boy.

My bird keeps saying 'Hello' to teenage girls and since he sounds a lot like me he gets me very angry stares.
