This will be helpful for comparing the numbers between weeks. CBS ran a new TBBT at 8 PM, 10.18 The Escape Hatch Identification. It pulled in a 2.8 demo, with an 11 share and 12.99 million viewers. This was up 1.2 demo points, up five in share, and up 4.36 million in viewers from last weeks repeat*. This was even in demo, up five in share, but down 390,000 from the last new show. Although I expect it to make it back over 13 million, this is the first time the show has been below 13 million, since season five's (April 2012) The Stag Convergence. TBBT was number one in demo with a 2.8. This was up five tenths in demo from last weeks number one. In second was Grey's Anatomy with a 1.9. This was up two tenths from last week's number two show. In third was Mom with a 1.5, down a tenth from last week's number three show*. For viewers, TBBT was first with 12.99 million, up 2.35 million viewers from last week's number one show. In second was Mom with an 7.56 million viewers, down 1.21 million viewers from last week's second place show.* And in third was Grey's Anatomy, with 7.36 million viewers, down 1.27 million viewers, from last weeks number three. In the 18-34 demo, TBBT was first with a 1.4, up a tenth from last week's number one show. In second was Grey's Anatomy, with a 1.2, up two tenths from last week's number two show, and in third was Mom with a 0.9, up two tenths from last week's number three. In the 25-54 demo, TBBT was first with a 4.0 demo, up nine tenths from last week's number one show. In second was Grey's Anatomy with a 2.3, down two tenths form last weeks number 2 show*, and there was a tie for third, between Mom and The Great Indoors with a 2.2, down a tenth from last week's third place show*. I'll put this out here now, but last nights episode was the last before Daylight Savings Time starts in the US. TBBT had, historically, a drop a half a point in demo and about a million in viewers after DST starts. So if you see low 2s in demo, and Low 12 to high 11 million figures for viewers, don't be shocked. Tensor
April Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 From what I gather viewing numbers are down across the board. If you have some time to spare, @Tensor, I'd love to see a comparison of TBBT's audience drop vs. everybody else's - maybe towards the end of the season? I remember you doing something like that last year which was super interesting.
Tensor Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Without going deeply into the numbers (which I don't do until the end of the year), year over year is down about 14% for Broadcast overall. TBBT is currently down about 20% Also, except for season four, TBBT has always either increased or dropped less than the general broadcast drop. The last two years, it has dropped faster than the overall broadcast drop. This year is currently the biggest difference between general broadcast drop and TBBT drop. I expect it to get worse over the next five episodes, simply because of the time change.
