Tensor
I know we've been talking about the low ratings for the premiere of TBBT. And, while it's undeniably a drop, it isn't the only one. Here are the premiere ratings, so far, for the half hour comedies, along with two other shows of interest. Both the viewers and demo are from last years premiere and viewers for both are in millions: Show demo viewers last year demo last year viewers. TBBT 3.8 15.82 4.7 18.20 Kevin Can Wait 2.6 11.08 New Brooklyn Nine Nine 1.1 2.89 1.5 3.14 New Girl 1.2 2.31 1.4 3.33 The Goldbergs 2.0 6.90 2.4 7.46 Speechless 2.0 7.38 New Modern Family 2.6 8.24 3.2 9.46 Black-ish 2.0 6.39 2.4 7.30 And two shows that are not comedies, but are usually number one in demo (Empire) and viewers (NCIS) Empire 4.2 10.87 6.7 16.18 NCIS 2.2 15.99 2.5 18.19 So everything is down. Hell, Empire dropped by 2.6 demo points and over 5 million people, which is three time the demo drop TBBT had. So, yes, TBBT dropped, but it still has the second highest demo of all entertainment shows, and the second highest viewers of all entertainment shows. So what's that mean for renewal. The biggest thing is simply the cost of production and licensing fees for CBS. If this was season three or even season 6 this would be a slam dunk, simply because of the lower salaries. *I edited in the final ratings for the Wednesday. The Goldbergs, Speechless, and Modern Family were even in demo and up about 100,000 viewers each from the overnights. Black-ish was even in both demo and viewers Empire was up a tenth in demo and 10,000 in viewers. One other thing I'll point out, the drop for TBBT was 20%, Empire was down 38%. Tensor
Week 01, Syndicated ratings, Wednesday, September 22, 2016 Based on pre-season week , 5-11 September Top Ten in Households: Show Household Rating Judge Judy 6.8 Family Feud 6.2 Wheel of Fortune 5.4 Jeopardy 5.0 TBBT 4.7 Law and Order:SVU 3.6 TBBT Weekend 3.3 Entertainment Tonight 2.8 Family Feud Weekend 2.7 Modern Family 2.7 Top ten in 25-54 Women: Show 25-54 Women Rating TBBT 2.9 Family Feud 2.9 Judge Judy 2.6 Law and Order:SVU 2.1 Modern Family 2.1 TBBT Weekend 2.0 Wheel of Fortune 1.7 Jeopardy 1.5 Entertainment Tonight 1.3 Two Broke Girls 1.3 I've gotten the question as to why the 25-54 rating. For daytime shows, the women 25-54 is the more important ratings. As you can see, TBBT still does rather well with this demo. There is a also a show called Weekend Adventure. It is a group of nature programs broadcast during the day on weekends for kids. I've pulled it as it is not late Afternoon/early evening programming. Tensor
Just some new info. In the Live + 3 for the premiere, TBBT picked up 1.6 in demo, and another 4.43 million viewers. This gives it a 5.4 demo and taking it over 20 million viewers (20.25). Last year, the Live + 3 increase was a 1.7 demo, with 4.29 million additional viewers. This gave it a total Live + 3 of 6.4 with 22.45 million viewers. There have been reports, in various articles, that it is the only show during premiere week to go over 20 million, but, the only Live + 3 data we have is for Monday. However, looking at the the other shows same day viewers and their normal Live + 3, I don't think any other show. While it has no chance to catch Sunday Night Football in demo (8.2), even for Live + 7, it has a very slim chance in beating it by picking up another 2.5 million. I don't think it will as that would approach the over 7 million it got for Live + 7 during Opening Night. I want to thank @vonmar for sending me a PM, pointing out the information above. There are times when I may not such information (I don't always see daily Live + 3, I get the weekly data normally), and I appreciate the effort in finding and passing it along to me. Thanks M. Tensor
Also, the ad rates are based on what is called the C3 ratings. The set top box can detect whether the person watching from the DVR is skipping the commercials or runs through the commercial normally. The C3 rating are the number of people who watch within three days (Like Live + 3), and have the commercials run through normally. Now, whether they are actually watching the commercials or run to get something to eat, or run to the bathroom, doesn't matter. After all, those behaviors happen during the live broadcast. Those, like you, who skip the commercials are included in the Live + 3 but not in the C3 ratings. We see the Live + 3 mostly because Nielsen does not released the C3 ratings publicly (after all, is what they make their money on).
Tensor
As I'm at rehearsal and on my phone, just a quick bit of news. Empire picked up 1.3 demo points in the Live + 3, to bring it to 5.5 demo. This is only a tenth of a demo point better than the Live + 3 of TBBT, at 5.4. Modern Family had a Live +3 of 3.8, what TBBT had for Live + Same Day. In viewers, TBBT is the only show over 20 million for live + 3. Beating both Bull, with 19.4 million and NCIS with 19.2 million. Empire finished with just under 14 million.
Tensor
Week 02 Early Household Ratings and Top 25 Markets; 27 September, 2016 TBBT ran the episode last night, 10.02 The Military Miniturization at 8:00 PM and it had a 10.6 Household Rating, with a 14 share (9.2/14). Compare to last week's premiere of 10.6/17 this was down 1.4 in Households and 3 share points. It also down 1.1 HH rating points from last year. In households, number one for the night was TBBT with that 9.2/14. In second was The Voice with a 7.7 Household and a 12 share (down three tenths in HH, even in demo) In third was Dancing with the Stars with a 7.5 Household and a 11 share (Down a tenth of a point in HH and even in share). From 8-8:30, while TBBT was on, The Voice had a 7.2 with an 11 Share, and Dancing with the Stars had a 7.3 with an 11 Share. I still don't have the Top 25 ratings, I'll put them here when they come in. I'll get to the overnight demo and viewers when they come in. Tensor
It's quite possible. In Eastern and Central time zones, the show aired before the debate, in it's normal time, so those ratings shouldn't be a problem. It is in the Mountain and Western time zones, that may be a problem. In the Mountain, the show would have aired during the debate, and so probably rant after the debate. In the Western, it would have been after the debate. But, as it would have run immediately after the debate, it may have been pushed back. If you remember the tutorial, the Overnights are based on what is expected to run in the timeslot. So, in the Mountain and Western time zones, the show could have run at several different times, all of them outside of it's normal 8 PM slot. On the other hand, if post debate analysis ran at 8 PM, it may appear the show got an increase in it's ratings. The finals will take all of that into account, so we really won't have a good idea until the finals come out this afternoon.

Based off trends and overnight specific market reporting, most people only stayed engaged in the debate for 37 minutes. Therefore they probably switched off to be done with it and maybe not turn back in for BBT. I mentioned in the general summary that this week with the debate its not a typical week at all. Tensor
Week 02 Overnights and Demo Breakouts for 27 September, 2016 CBS ran TBBT episode 10.02 The Military Miniturization. It pulled in a 3.5 demo, with a 12 share and 14.09 million viewers. This was down, from last weeks premiere overnight numbers, by just a tenth of a point in Demo (3.6), one point in share, and down 1.34 million. This was down minimally in demo and share, and only 9% in viewers. Due to the debate, we'll see where it goes in the finals. TBBT was number one in demo with that 3.5. In second was The Voice with a 3.3, even with last week. In third was Kevin Can Wait with a 2.7, up a tenth from last week. For viewers, TBBT was first with the 14.09 million viewers. In second was The Voice with 12.14 million viewers, up 140,000. And in third was Kevin Can Wait, with 10.94 million viewers, down 210,000. In the 18-34 demo, TBBT was in first with a 2.4, up a tenth from last weeks first place show. In second was The Voice at 2.3, up two tenths from last week's show. In third was Kevin Can Wait, with a 1.8, up two tenths from last weeks third place show. In the 25-54 demo, TBBT was first with a 4.8, up a tenth. In second, was The Voice with a 4.2, up a tenth, and in third was Kevin Can Wait, with a 3.8, again, up a tenth. For the west coast, the post debate analysis was the lead in for the 8 PM shows. NBC had a 3.9 demo to lead into The Voice, ABC had a 2.3 to lead into Dancing with the Stars, and CBS had a 2.0 leading into TBBT. TBBT was the only show to increase from the post debate numbers. If, those demo numbers decrease, due to people leaving after the post debate coverage, The Voice seems to have the most to lose. Just for information, the debate averaged around 13 million on the big three networks, with a 3.7 demo (I leave FOX out, as most of the people who would watch FOX, would watch it on FOX News. NBC lead with a 5.4 demo and 16.6 million viewers. ABC had 3.1 with 12.6 million viewers and CBS had a 2.8 with 11.3 million viewers. The finals will sort all this out and will be up later, when I get them. Tensor

Tensor
Week 02 Final Ratings For Tuesday, September 27, 2016. For broadcasts, 26 September, 2016 At 8:00 PM, the new episode of TBBT, 9.02, The Military Miniaturization, brought in a 3.6, with 14.24 million people, up a tenth in demo and up (150,000) viewers from the overnights. This was down only two tenths from last weeks premiere, and down 1.62 million viewers. This was down only two tenths from last year's second episode, and down less than a million (990,000, I know, less by 10,000 ) In first place, for demo, was TBBT with that 3.6. In second was The Voice at 3.2 , down a tenth from the overnights, and down a tenth in demo from last week. In third was the new show Kevin Can Wait, with a 2.7, even with the overnights, and up a tenth from last week. For viewers, TBBT was number one with those 14.24 million viewers. The Voice was second with 11.72 million, down 420,000 from the overnights and down 380,000 million from last week. Kevin Can Wait was in third at 10.62 down 300,000 in viewers and down 400,000 from last week. In the overnights, I wondered if the large number of post debate lead in might hurt The Voice. As The Voice doesn't usually drop, it could have had that effect. Last week I mentioned both The Voice and Kevin Can Wait were almost level with the second and third place shows last year, indicating the drop for TBBT was real. This week, both TBBT and The Voice dropped the same amount this week and Kevin Can Wait actually went up from the third place show last year. Tensor
CBS released the Live + 7 for the premiere. It was up by 2.0 in demo and 5.7 million in viewers. This gives it a 5.8 demo with 21.52 million viewers for Live + 7. In viewers, this will move it to number 2 for the week, about a million behind Sunday Night Football and it will be the number one Entertainment program. As for demo, the show had a 3.8 for Live + same day, and went up 1.6 in the Live + 3, to 5.4. Empire had a 4.2 for Live + Same Day, and went up 1.3 for Live + 3, giving it a 5.5. TBBT picked up another four tenths between four day and seven day DVR viewers. I expect, at worst, TBBT will be tied with Empire in Live + 7, and it's possible that Empire will only pick up two tenths in Live + 7, giving it a Live + 7 of 5.7, leaving TBBT either tied or with, the highest rated entertainment show for the week. 9 hours ago, Vittoria Jacoel said: TBBT is always first in ratings!right? Inviato dal mio iPhone utilizzando Tapatalk For most things Vittoria, I can san, no, it isn't always first. Even by most measures it isn't first, most of the time. If you mean demo, for Live + Same Day, Live + 3 Day, or Live + 7. It's Sunday Night Football and even Thursday Night Football that has been higher than non-sports programming for about three years now. Since last year, Empire has been higher in demo for all three measures, for non-sports programs. If you mean viewers, it depends on the week for either of the measures. Sunday Night Football, and even NCIS beats TBBT most weeks in Live + Same day. For Live + 3, Football is the highest, and it depends on the week as NCIS and TBBT have beaten football. For Live + 7 it's either Sunday Night Football, or TBBT, again, it depends on the week (for example last week, Sunday Night Football will beat TBBT by over a million viewers).
