1004 'The Cohabitation Experimentation' (October 10)

Okay I know I am a little late to the party but it was impossible to get on my computer to come here yesterday.

I also wanted to watch the episode a second time before giving my final grade. I loved this episode. But to be honest I was not laughing at the beginning as much as some people.

Things I didn't like in the beginning.....

Leonard saying things like well we live with Sheldon so inconvenience has lost all meaning....I am with Sheldon....he notices every eye roll....something I have been noticing. He also said to Amy that the big step was in the right direction for him and Penny and implied that it was I. n the wrong direction for her. I don't know it just irked me. I know it is the writers and not wanting to change things but I really didn't see anything odd about Sheldon being in 4B and coming over to 4A.

I must say I do agree that Leonard also should have stuck up for Penny when Sheldon implied there were many men in her bed.

I did like the advice both Penny and Leonard gave them about living together. I can understand why they went to the opposite person. Leonard has been with Sheldon forever and Amy needed to know what to expect. Sheldon needs Penny for understanding relationships and she is such a fan of theirs she wants it to work.

Now the things I loved about this storyline.....

Penny and Leonard dancing was hysterical. Penny's face when he started was priceless. Then them dancing and having a good time and her pointing out to him he was actually pretty good. I just loved how much fun they were having.

Sheldon and Amy in bed together was my favorite part especially after being told no flash photography and the flash at the end. I literally almost fell off my couch laughing. Those two hit the mark perfectly.

The end was very funny. They knew exactly what to say to each other to diss.....Penny being clueless about the sciency stuff was perfect and asking Leonard if it was a good diss was too cute. When she said I think I should say damn and he told her to go for it was awesome.

The make out line at the end seemed OOC but I still loved it. It meant that they got each other so worked up over the sexy science talk they needed to get out their pent up frustration.

Okay on to the Howardette/Raj storyline:

Loved the phone calls back and forth about the sex of the baby. It was so funny. And I can see a couple struggling to decide since their friend knew. I know when I had my kids I needed to know. But I like that the writers seem to want it to be a mystery for them. One of the few we all still can have.

However I would be so pissed....more than they seemed at Raj. I mean it would have been one thing for the writers to say he saw it open on her table or something but for them to have him say is it my fault the folder was sitting there and I opened it.....um bad idea.

He was so caring for Bernadette last week helping her through her worries but this week he was acting creepy and douchy again.

Seeing Cinnamon back was great.....I smiled when I saw her. So glad Emily didn't kill her.

All in all this was definitely my favorite this season and one of my favorites of the series. I like that they are getting back to comedy at its best. I hope the trend continues next week as well.

I don't think Sheldon calling Penny a slut for the millionth time, is giving as good as you get.

To be fair, Penny and Leonard started it this time, with not one, not two, but three nasty remarks.

Your best friend has just been made homeless, and had all her clothes ruined, and your first instinct is to imply her clothes had no value?

Next you insult the boyfriend she's about to move in with, and suggest moving in with him is a step in the wrong direction?

I'd say Sheldon's dig was quite mild in comparison.

glad to see cinnamon is well, and in bed with is master.

like how h/b keep calling raj about the baby sex, glad

he did not say anythink, or "run fast to india".

l/p dancing , then cheer went they were a lone.

sheldon grew a pair. 2 years ago did not want to leave the

apparment when leonard ask that penny and him could stay

there, sheldon go to 4b. he did it "for science".

Except it is Sheldon. Since when does Sheldon get turned on by having his experimental method dissed. Leslie Winkle should have had him a twitter.

To be fair, i don't think that is a fair reference or comparison. Sure if this was Season One it would be OOC. But Sheldon has changed ALOT over the past Nine seasons. So i am just saying this Sheldon clearly finds in a Scieintific Conditions making out with Amy appealing. He was dissing Amy's methods too. I guess it showed unlike with Leslie and Leonard in 2x01, The Famous String Theory Scene. Shamy found away to compromise.

That was early era Sheldon, it's possible that it didn't turn him on much at that time or his Kolinahr wall was stronger back then. It could be simply be down to who is delivering it, Leslie Winkle isn't Amy.

I think that is more the case actually, I mean it would affect his work if he gets turned on by equations and the like all the time or whatever.

First of all that was in season one. Back then Sheldon hadn't even developed his three knock ritual yet and he once sold his sperms for money. But more importantly, I think the point of the tag scene is Sheldon gets turned on by having his work dissed by Amy. He has heated scientific arguments with people all the time since he's a scientist. But I'm sure he doesn't get turned on when the arguments are with others, say, Kripke or Leonard, as that'll be totally awkward lol.

Yeah one of the great attractions between them is each others mind or intellect. There is physical attraction there as well but its not the sole motivator or trigger of attraction that some other couples have.

I guess what i am trying to say is that they are attracted to each other both in body and mind. But that the mind might be slightly more important to them in their case.

I remember for example her saying she finds his eidetic memory so sexy lol

Leslie had total disdain for Sheldon.  Her quips had no love or regard behind them.  When he gets into a scientific argument with Amy, it is totally different.  He loves her.  It's like the old Sam and Diane argument from Cheers.  After which, one says to the other "are you as turned on as I am?"  The answer was "more!" followed by a heavy make-out session......btw, it may have been cute if the commenced doing so in front of Leonard and Penny, making her "the new neighbors are weird" line even more hilarious than it was....

In Cheers that was consistent. To me it seemed like Sheldon had appropriated someone else's personality. Leonard got turned on when Penny put on glasses and said molecule. That I could see. When Sheldon wanted to make out I got a little whiplash.

Yeah. They dont need so much physical touch as most of couples, like  kisses all the time, tight hugs or have sex often, even this part needs to be work on yet between them, as the signs they should not wait so much between sexual activities are all over. Some couples are the reverse: too much touching, less talk. Balance is always the right thing to anchieve, if possible :)

IMO what is most fascinating about Sheldon and Amy  is their minds are kind of connected since they met but about the psysical attraction, they have been discovering it through the years. As once Penny said, Sheldon would oneday get his teenager time and be into sex activities. And Amy is almost geting his like for repeating for her own pleasure, lol!

As Leonard said to Amy in last episode. "Keeping nodding and smiling, he is almost there"

If we are talking about the Sheldon in season one, I don't see it either that he wants to make out. But this is season ten, where we've already seen Sheldon initiated a kiss and enjoyed it so much that he sort of lost in it in season 7, Sheldon leaned forward to continue with an interrupted make out session in season 8, passionately kissed Amy in front of another person in season 9, had coitus with Amy and apparently rocked her world in season 9. I don't think the tag scene is OOC at all. That's just character development. People change.

She did throw him, didn't she? Leslie Winkle flustered Sheldon. He wasn't really equipped to handle someone brilliant and bitchy. Present-day Sheldon can sometimes take on the latter trait, but it's not really something I enjoy about him, and it's not something the writers deliver with conviction.

As to what is different about Amy and Sheldon bickering about scientific method: it's simple. The bickering is a means of signalling and inviting interest. Amy and Sheldon may be dissing each other, but they're using fairly intricate (not to say pompous) and argot-heavy ways of doing so: in other words, they're backhandedly complimenting the other person on their ability to wield the weapons of combat. 'We are at war, but at least you are a worthy adversary.'

Leslie never bothered with specificity or elegance - she went straight to the oldie (and goodie) of 'dumbass'. There's no charge there, simply because they're so unequally matched. Leslie's brutality only invites brutality in response, and that wasn't really Sheldon's speed (back then, and really even now).

To me, what Amy did had the same affect on Sheldon that Penny's glasses had on Leonard.

Sheldon had already expressed a desire to kiss Amy earlier for her consideration, a make out that went unfulfilled.  He had a great night of sleep.  Finally, he not only got to hear Amy intellectually defend herself, but he won the argument by convincing Amy to finish what they started using her passion for science against her.

The fact that he was worked up enough to want to make out is no mystery to me after such a victory.   After all, learning to make up after a fight is part of achieving forgiveness in order to live together in harmony.

Sheldon has enjoyed kissing Amy since the Locomotive episode in s7. He had never showed any sign it was a sacrifice for him since then. They have been improving the kissing technique and they have been making out after they consumated their relationship. It is so natural as they get into making out as they got turn on . They are a couple like the others else. :)

Oh, she bothered a couple of times.  My favorite Leslie cut was, "There are no incorrect equations on my board."

I think he was implying Sheldon masturbates a lot, not that he does it to sell sperm.

If Sheldon had sold sperm before, why would he suddenly have scruples about it?

Also, why would they need to ask if they were at High IQ sperm bank?

  • 4 weeks later...

Loved Penny in her dungarees. Also noticed Howard had a very nice green shirt - he seems to be dressing better this season. Bernadette's bump seems to have taken a great leap forward since last week.

Sheldon taking the whole bed was very predictable. It might have been funnier if I hadn't seen it so many times before - eg Daphne pushing Niles out of bed in Frasier. Amy firing her phone camera flash at Sheldon from the floor was funny tho.

But what is wrong with Leonard? Why did he allow Amy to invade his and Penny's home in the morning? He should have blocked her and told her something like: This is not Sheldon's apartment for the next 5 weeks. This is just Penny's and my home now and you can't barge in here when you feel like it. You are on your own with Sheldon and must work things out with him. Penny and I are not your support and maintenance team.

Or he could have set the deadlock on the apartment door after S & A left.
