Young Sheldon Discussion Thread

It was mentioned as early as S4 - so it's really not a one-off joke. Besides the knocking origin they also doubled down on it with Sheldon recounting Mary giving his dad a fire-and-brimstone speech with some unchristian words in it so she knows and it's not something like Sheldon mistaking her in a costume or some such nonsense.

Well said.

The only way I can see them not showing that shift in the family dynamic is if the show just doesn't get to that point in the story, it ends before they have to show that. Which I think could be a possibility.

How realistic  was the eating of a packed lunch in the school library ? Is it allowed in American schools ?  I know I left school a long time before 1989, but even then books were still made out of  paper and susceptible to finger marks and spilled juice. In my schooldays the library was definitely not a permitted picnic area !

Only ever did it in the Lenin Library in Moscow and thought it was crazy, even there.

Does anyone know where the cast is headed next? Looks like they're in London now.

Oh I hope so. I'd love to hear the children on Woman's Hour and hear Laurie's Desert Island Discs !

They are in London now. Not sure what shows they will appear on. I have a friend from Italy who is hoping they travel there.

Great. Will keep an eye out. I wonder if this is why they started showing YS so far into its season, so it would still be on the TV when they were here ?

My guess would be the station picked it up when they found out how well it was doing in Canada/USA.

As of right now, Young Sheldon: The Complete First Season is scheduled to be released in Region 1 on Tuesday, September 4. Apparently, the Blu-ray version will be available online, via the Warner Archive Collection. No word yet about the DVD version, but I assume that it will be released to general retailers on the same day.

The DVD and Blu-ray releases have been confirmed for 9/4 by TVShowsOnDVD, via their Facebook page. Extras include "Young Sheldon: An Origin Story" and "Sibling Revelry." The DVD is a wide release, while the Blu-ray will be available via the Warner Archive Collection and Amazon.

British stations usually plan further ahead than that. How well a programme is doing elsewhere isn't necessarily a consideration.

Annie Potts Talks Bonding With Iain Armitage for ‘Young Sheldon’

Sheldon Cooper’s Meemaw was an iconic character long before “Young Sheldon” ever premiered on CBS. First introduced in “The Big Bang Theory” as Sheldon’s favorite family member, she was spoken about (and later depicted by June Squibb) as a warm-hearted, accepting woman. Annie Potts stepped into the role for the prequel, tasked with developing the relationship with Iain Armitage’s boy genius that would have such an impact decades later. Potts first appeared in the third episode of the first season of “Young Sheldon,” teaching Sheldon about the importance of bluffing — in poker and in life.

Annie made similar comments about her gray hair in these videos from the LA TImes. The first clip is actually part of the longer segment, which is also linked below:

It's worth repeating the CBS premiere news here. Like The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon will air two brand new episodes in premiere week. The show is once again airing right after The Big Bang Theory, on Monday, September 24 and then back to its regular time period on Thursday, September 27. https://young-sheldon.com/news/cbs-announces-season-premiere-dates/

Thank you so much for sharing this! I am not on instagram or any other social media so I am always glad when someone shares YS or TBBT content 😊
