1010 'The Property Division Collision' (December 1)

Recommended Posts

I'd rate the episode as "good". I must confess the whole storyline seemed to be better from the promos and sneak peeks than it was on screen. Was me or there were promo photos that belonged to scenes that not aired?

My problem was to have higher expectations about CL role, my fault. Imo if the episode had not had guests, the story would have worked at same. Although this season has been great so far about many things, sometimes the writting is too poor to handle and this role of CL was one of the examples. He had not funny lines and that line about "range that comes from love" (sorry if I messed the grammar) , come on...

Other example that could have been well written was all h/b/s/r storyploy. Bernie' s reaction to the waterbroken did not have that emotion than I thought it would, the Howard reaction as he waited for the guys done something was too much immature and Stuart still has the most depressing lines. I still hope all this 4 wheel storyline can get better in some way but I am an optimistic, I know. Although imo Stuart would work better taking care of baby than Raj but he would not need to live with Bernie and Howard for that though.

My favourite parts. I really loved the couples interactions as they are alone by themselves. First scene with shamy was great as they were in same page as they liked that painting, it reminds us how quirky they are and meant to each other. First time we saw Sheldon making a compliment to Amy from heart without a joke or punchline behind and that was great Amy' s reaction was priceless, lol! Lenny was great, I really loved supportive Penny and protective Leonard.

And the fight between shelnard was funny because this time Leonard stood up for himself, that litle dance of Leonard in laundryroom cracked me up!

Looking foward to seeinng both couples redecorating the apartments.

The episode goes pretty well IMO until Theodore says the "your anger comes from love" line LOL. I got so much second hand embarrassment at that line that I almost closed my browser immediately. Seriously??? My twelve year old cousin could take a better shot than that. Why inviting a brilliant guest star but give him such lame lines? Why not just use a narrative telling us how deep Shelnard's love is? I'm sure it'll be equally embarrassing.

The writers are supposed to "show" us their anger comes from their love, not tell us that.

I like Amy, Penny and Leonard in this episode. Penny's face expressions, Amy's smile and Leonard wearing that flag are priceless, which makes me wonder what happens to Jim Parsons's acting...He used to be so good. Now he's my NO.1 source of second hand embarrassment from the show. He(Sheldon) tries too hard to be cute in the show nowadays...It stopped being cute years ago.

I always thought their love came from their anger lol. But yeah bit of a silly narrative. Crazy guy:  you guys hate each other, that is why you love each other. :scratchhead:. Why diddn't they just make him go Love is all, or grab some stupid meme you find on Facebook about relationships and love. Have to agree, giving such lame lines to a legend. A LEGEND, you only had him one episode. This show has gone so deep into the wilderness, it doesen't even know where it's bearing's are anymore. And yeah have to agree ^. Seems to me Johnny, Mayim, and Kaley late in the run are the one's carrying most of the scenes. Jim lately seems to be trying to hard. Stuff he did like this was endering years ago. But now? It is just annoying. His little quirks, are just annoying now. It is like Peter in Family Guy. His child like innocence used to be endering. But now? Arghh.

Can you name an example? Cause I'm not sure what you're talking about.

It's just a feeling I got ever since season 8/9. It's a combination of his way-too-perky facial expressions, too much hands movements and his shrill voice. In this episode, an example would be around 5:30 to 7:30. But lots of good example probably would be in last season. On top of my head, 912 where he talks with Raj in Raj's lab.

I see what you mean. It doesn't bother me and works for me in terms of Sheldon's development, but I understand where you're coming from. Thanks.

OK episode, but you can add me to the club that found it a bit underwhelming especially the Christopher Lloyd guest appearance.

Shelnard heavy but that was to expected, they are like brothers and this was an episode that finally brought a conclusion to the whole living together chapter of their lives.

It was petty stuff from both of them, whoever said this was a bit reminiscent of Panty Pinata and the lengths two people will go to as it escalates was right. They made up in the end and I hope they see this as a new chapter to their friendship, gone are the days of moaning about bathroom schedules, what to eat on a certain day, thermostat settings etc. They should now focus on strengthening their friendship even more by have more fun together, working together, focus purely on the things that made them friends in the first place. The living situation changes doesn't just have to benefit Sheldon and Amy's relationship, it can help the friendships as well of all involved.

My favorite part of the episode was probably the scene with Shamy and Lenny in 4A with the painting. Some really sharp and witty dialogue there especially between Amy and Penny (Amy had a lot of great lines in this episode, I love her writing this season). Amy I think knows full well that Penny has reservations about the painting and won't have forgotten what happened when she gave it her in the first place, but Penny caved in again lol. Amy is so sassy this season, love it.

The CL scenes were just underwhelming overall, I know having him appear as his character from Back to the Future would have been cliche and done before but honestly a dream sequence with him in character probably would have been better than the idea they came up for him. There is nothing to criticize in terms of CL or his acting, that's on the writers.

Baby Wolowitz on the way! So you had Leonard/Sheldon bickering and Raj/Stuart bickering, as expected Stuart and Raj both proved their worth in the end. Howard continues to be portrayed as completely useless around the household lol, hoping fatherhood might change some of that.

Yeah, well I kind of hope he has character developments but still gets to keep his old charming personalities. To me what makes Sheldon charming in the past is his excellence at his job, his wide range of edudition, his rationality and him not deliberately being annoying (meaning in the past when he did something inappropriate, usually he didn't realize that). Now it seems to me the writers has magnified the parts of his personality that I don't care too much for. So maybe the writers should take half of the blame too, after all JP won four emmys lol.

I liked......for the 1st time in ages Stuart had some pretty funny lines....liked his interaction with Raj and H/berny...

The paint plot took longer than i thought.... and I would like to see more  about the division of their others things...

Wondering why they cut the scene where sheldon is explain something to Amy using his hands...

CL was okay...laught some lines but they should have used him with a better plot IMO

Yeah, I had to rewatch those scenes for see if I missed something. It is not cool to share promo photos of scenes that were cut in final version of the episode.

Yes I got the same feeling about Jim. It´s really confusing. I really liked his Sheldonesque performance. Especially till season 4. But this season it´s really over the top imo.

Barely 2/5 stars. Most funny thing: The vanity card, hinting at Trump getting sworn in soon. Fire a writer, so the others will try harder will you, studio. Also sad to see a pretty obvious holding tremor when Christopher Lloyd holds that slice of bread. First MJF now him too, even at 78, medicine needs to advance faster. And no funny line for him, so what was the point of hiring him? Did he request getting a small role because he is a fan of the show? At this level of quality I might as well quit watching, season 11 coming or not.

He has always been the anti hero IMO. But he has now become a monster. I don't say in terms of his character, in a way he is a bad person. It has a nasty connotation to it. But I mean in how he just takes up alot of room now. Where as he used to be this guy everyone just had to put up with. So I see your point of view. But it is what it is! We can't do anything about it, were invested. What are we going to do, stop watching? Yeah right hahah.

I have zero problem with Sheldon, it's all part of his evolution but if people do that is their prerogative. He was a bit of an ass in this episode but then so was Leonard and, the whole thing was rather petty and done before but this is a sitcom. The whole back and forth could have been avoided by Lenny and Shamy talking it all out, because I have no doubt that Sheldon would have come round and realized that he needed to be more considerate especially with intermediaries like Amy and Penny there to help.

But then if it had been resolved there would have been no story... and it would have ended after like 5 mins.

The difference is, though, that Leonard had a good reason for acting the way he did whereas Sheldon really did not. I know that them being mean to one another is supposed to be funny and not to be taken seriously, but I guess it's just gotten very old by now. Just speaking for myself here, of course.

Nailed it. I looooove early!Sheldon exactly because of that. There was an innocence to his behaviour that really isn't there anymore, which makes him appear way more mean and I just don't like it.

Whatever reason there might be, I personally found Leonard "rubbing his genitals on personal belongings" to be equally petty, gross, disgusting , cringe worthy and not very funny. Genital jokes are just not my cup of tea. There has got to be a more clever sharper way to write gags and/or conflict than dick jokes right ?  All of it was gross.

Well it was prob appropriate in this instance, as Leonard knows how Sheldon feels about hygene, touching e.t.c. So extreme yes, but I found Johnny's delivery more funnier, then the actual genitial part. Which I agree was a bit tasteless.I do agree Sheldon used to have an innocence about him. He seemed clueless, it was his charm. Now? He seems to be more aware, and still is an ass to Leonard. He still degrades Leonard's career too. I agree its old. I laughed, but I waqs like ehhh move on. I guess though since The Platonic Permutation, Leonard is gain fir anything haha. But then again we should blame thw wriers, not the chaacters.

Sorry but Leonard's also degraded Sheldon's genuine interest in flags.Sheldon clearly put a lot of thought in designing the flag and the symbolism about it. It meant nothing to Leonard to the point that he actually rubbed his dick on it . How is that not equally disrespectful ?And if Sheldon is indeed paying for 4A WiFi, he has a right to change the password.

Both were being petty  and I'm not just going to single out Sheldon simply because it is more acceptable to hate on Sheldon for some reason.

Also mocking someone's germ phobias and OCD is NOT funny.  OCD is a disease and Sheldon's germ phobia is a pathological condition. Rubbing your dick in it is beyond tasteless and causes physical harm to the person who suffers from that condition.

Like I said, there were  plenty of  OTHER ways for Leonard to get back at Sheldon. This one was neither funny nor enjoyable.

Have to agree with you on this. I hate jokes about genitals too and I have just got my focus on comedy side as Leonard did a funny litle dance in laudryroom. And also for this time he got back to Sheldon, who usually got always his wills. The other points you made makes sense to me too. But sometimes is easier to writers to make a quick laugh scene , even we laugh for the ridiculous/ bizarre side of it than they may be careful about the controversy that some jokes could result in end.

That's why my favourite part of the episode this week  was the painting scenes.

I agree that this wasn't funny. Then again barely anything in this episode was apart from Penny's reaction(s) to the painting.

But man did I enjoy that Leonard finally stood up for himself instead of keeping his head down. More of that, please.

Well, in this case I will try to look it from the psychological side. And I know TBBT is a sitcom and not meant to think it over too much. But.... Leonard pratically handing over-giving in to Sheldon, by telling " you can have it all, I don´t care".  It was Amy who interferred by calling out Sheldon. And then Sheldon answers " you can have anything you want". Which Leonard took as a  test (my psychological reasoning). It is very symbolic to take the flag. As it is in many ways a surrender or hand over or other way around peacemaker. So as I see it, Leonard tested Sheldon in this way, to confirm leaving in peace their appartment. If you saw the look of Penny, it was like what the hell are you doing. You want the flag of all the belongings? And again in my opinion, Sheldon missed the opportunity and declared war. Which of course furiated Leonard, because he already offered all his belonging. Ok I am out here; I was thinking over too much :). BTW the dance I like. The genital part I didn´t like. Nor from Leonard, neither the comments of Sheldon and Theodor.

Like in this episode, when he initially divided the things, I got the feeling that he kind of knew he was being a little selfish but he did it anyway because "I'm cute and Leonard and Penny and Amy will always forgive me for anything I do". Well that's totally my interpretion but yeah, he just gives me that feeling. It's like he's a spoiled little boy. Maybe it's cute when these kind of things happened in early seasons but now? It's kind of gross. I mean a grown-up man, in his late thirties...trying to be cute...Geez... I get it that the writers need to keep Sheldon unchanged somehow. But why not showing us some of his charming characteristics? Like I really enjoy him educating others with history/science facts (haha he may appear to be a know-it-all in those situations but still cute IMO) or doing little mind games with Leonard/Amy. And I really love to see him win for once in his job, not just messing up/getting jealous of others' work/not being able to meet the deadline etc. It's really hard to respect him as a scientist when his biggest achievement in years is that paper but the original idea is, well, Leonard's...

Agreed. Now this may not be the actual case he may genuinely like it, but I got the impression that Leonard doesn't give a fig about the flag and just saw an opportunity to get even with Sheldon over the items. He escalated the whole situation, but then if it was real life Amy and Penny would have told them both to sit down and sorted them out.

Both were at fault in this situation, though if anyone wants to take someone's side more or see it from their perspective that is fine. I will disagree with blame being solely levelled at one character because frankly that is not what I saw from this particular episode.

I'm a male Serena and I didn't like the genitals joke either (also didn't find it funny that time with Howard and the laptop or Sheldon with the car). Good thing that Raj never got chance to rub his junk on their prototype. I think it is pretty disgusting.

Anyway I want Sheldon and Amy to design a new flag for 4B and using their vexillology knowledge to make it perfect for them. Let Leonard keep his flag.

Here's the thing. Leonard has all the right to stand up for himself, but, no matter what psychological reasons he might have,  that still does NOT give him a right to mock a medical condition. Sheldon has germ phobia/OCD and Leonard's antics for defiling the flag were plain cruel, knowing that Sheldon suffers from that condition.

How would you feel if Sheldon forced Leonard to eat dairy and milk products, knowing that he is lactose intolerant ?  I also don't think jokes about Stuart's suicidal  tendencies and depression are particularly funny. I'm all for mean spirited jokes and dark humor, but those are neither dark nor mean - just cruel and tasteless.

I'm not sure Leonard's lactose intolerance and Sheldon's germ phobia are comparable. lactose intolerance is a medical condition. Sheldon's is not. If Sheldon's condition was real coitus never would of happened.
