So did he also pick up his overnight emergency bag that we just didn't see him carry ? Is it in a taxi, told to wait outside the Princeton university building in case Amy sends Sheldon away from her door ?

I don't recall seeing a bag in any of the montage scenes of him traveling to Amy.

This didn't happen in the show, so we don't know if that happened....also I can't imagine Sheldon leaving his personal belongings with a stranger.  I think that if he had a bag with him it would have been slung across his chest when he walked down the hallway to Amy's Princeton apartment.

I think he went to Princeton empty handed except for the ring.

I think Sheldon must've gone back to the apartment, before flying out to Princeton, because, don't you need your Passport, to fly even internally these days?

No, you can cross state lines without a passport.

:offtopic:

Before 9-11 (2001) Canadiens could travel to the US without a passport as well. A drivers license was all that one needed. The reverse was true as well.

I have a passport and a passport card.  I can travel to Canada with just the passport card as long as I have another form of ID.  To travel anywhere else outside of the US I need the full official passport.

We don't know whether he called at the bank or went home for the ring, nor, thanks to the camera angles, whether he had a bag we couldn't see. We know what they showed him doing. We don't know what they didn't show us.  We do know Sheldon is capable of concealing many items about his person, as shown when Leonard and Amy were getting him ready to go to see Penny in A Streetcar. Do you think he had his mini-tablet, his earphones, his wallet, his phone and the ring  box in his trouser pockets all the way ?  And where were the pockets ? I can't see any, having taken a good look at his trousers ( for science of course ). The only time we saw him in full and standing upright after he left Caltech was when he was walking along the corridor to Amy's rooms. He had nothing in his hands then. On the journey Sheldon was doing a lot of things he normally wouldn't do. The only way he'd have a bag would be if he'd left it with the taxi driver, who of course he'd know would be trustworthy, unless there was a night porter in the lobby of the building.

Wondering why all of this matters I am guessing if people are starting to wonder if Sheldon started carring the ring just trying to figure out how and when he should propose?

I'm not sure he would be carrying it around in his pocket considering the age of the ring and the history it has with his family. Things like that you don't usually carry around with you all the time for fear of losing it, getting mugged, having it stolen etc.

I suspect he would have it somewhere safe and he went to get it.

He might have had the ring in a safe room out of his and Amy's place while he would not decide to proposal . My apologies in advance but I might be using the wrong word for a litle vault, as here we could keep valuable things like jewelery in a vault we rent in a bank.

Anyway I see Sheldon to get the ring in that safe place and then went take a flight for going to Princeton.

I love it when we learn different stuff in different countries!!

Here in the states we can rent "little vaults" at the bank.  We call them "safe deposit boxes" and incidentally, Sheldon does have one already.  Remember when he lost that bet without howard and had to retrieve a valuable comic book from his safe deposit box at the bank?  Can't remember what episode that was but it was one of the early ones.

Although, the airline probably wouldn't accept his honorary Justice League of America membership card. :icon_biggrin:

The odds of that happening are tiny.

To get out of the UK, I need my Passport, but once across the channel, I can travel through 27 countries, without passing though a single customs point.

You only know you've entered a new country, by the "Welcome to ................." text you receive.

Where did you hear this from that you need a passport to fly internally?

Someone at work told me.

They said they'd visited America, and had been asked for their Passport, when boarding an internal flight.

They might ask non-US residents to see a passport. Right now US residents can fly with just a drivers license, but that will change next year.

My apologies too if I am repeating myself on this thread. I'm not sure where I've mentioned this before. I notice that Sheldon does not get into the taxi at the parking place but outside the astronomy department.  My speculation is he called on foot at a campus branch of his bank and picked up the ring from one of his safe-deposit boxes before meeting the  taxi. I think you're right.

His T-shirt overlaps his trousers a little so perhaps he has a belt in which he keeps things since his trousers have no visible pockets.

I may be giving the writers and directors more than their due when I take note that we only saw snatches of his journey so perhaps they're expecting us to wonder what happened in-between.

They hear the accent and so they know the passenger has a passport. It's the most appropriate form of identity.

For visitors of the U.S., yes but not for American Citizens.

I should clarify that I live in one of non REAL ID-compliant states, so a passport will be needed.

I also live in a non-REAL ID-compliant state, and I recently obtained an "enhanced" drivers license that will be allowed in place of a passport for domestic air travel.

The episode was Series 3, Episode 2/ The Jiminy Conjecture. The phrase safe deposit box, is used 3 times. As can be seen below.

Penny: Oh, hey, Sheldon. What you got there? A new comic book?

Sheldon: Old comic book. I just retrieved it from my safe deposit box.

Penny: What do you have a safe deposit box for?

Sheldon: Old comic books. I lost this to Wolowitz in an ill-conceived cricket wager.

Sheldon: Hello.

Leonard: Hey. What's going on?

Sheldon: Oh, you'd like to catch up on the events of the day. All right. Well, there was a half-hour wait at the bank to get into my safe deposit box, I was forced to talk to Penny about your s*xual problems, and, oh yes, in a moment filled with Biblical resonance, pride wenteth before a fall, causing my Flash 123 to goeth to Wolowitz.

At this point I think we have to face the fact that the Sheldon we see leaving the University is NOT the same Sheldon we see arriving at Amy's door to propose.  Obviously, somewhere along his route he was waylaid by North Korean agents and replaced by a surgically-altered doppleganger whose mission is to use Amy to gain access to the top secret guidance system project and steal it.  Meanwhile the real Sheldon has been brainwashed into thinking he is Michael Buble and is currently doing two shows a day (three on Saturday) at Ceasar's Palace in Las Vegas.

What I don't understand is, how Ramona has changed her attitude toward Sheldon and his work.

When she first met him, she was adamant that his work be the single objective of his life, yet now she is seeking to drag him away from his work, to spend his time in a romantic relationship with her. :scratchhead:

Or is she ? She took him swimming but she probably swims every day. We didn't hear of them doing anything else that wasn't work. Until the scene at the end, the conversations they had with each other were work ( ie physics ) related.  Even when he took her to 4B it was to see his correspondence with Professor Higgs.

Whether any romantic shenanigans she had in mind were to be undertaken outside work we'll never know.

it probably would have made more sense if they had brought back some girl who had actually shown a hint of romantic interest in Sheldon . maybe someone like Martha or Vanessa or Raj's date from season 1(Lalita the princess girl ?). Ramona, as I remember didn't show any interest in dating Sheldon , although she did think he was cute.  Its weird they brought back the one character who did not want Sheldon to be distracted with romance.  Ramona even warned Penny to stay away from Sheldon in s2.  of course, you can always explain by saying Ramona changed over the years, but she was like a whole new person in 10.24 without much explanations -  probably just a plot device for shamy proposal, more than anything.
