Also, why are you so sure marrying Leonard was a decision she made because she wanted "a life saver" and that being married to him is sucking the life out of her?

Because he isn't Sheldon?

Can't it be Penny married Leonard. Simply because she is in love with him. And he offers her more from an intellectual stand point. And complimented her life. As they both merged their great attributes and qualities as human beings? Why does their need to be some kinda justification. OR some technical explanation. I could say without Sheldon, Amy would be written off. I don't buy this "sucking life out of her" Theory. In Season 4 they were not together. And she was pretty depressed most of the season. As she was in Season 5. She embraced her reality with Leonard. That is different from seeing Leonard as a life saver.

All of this is passe. The characters actions and behaviours is predicated based on what the writers choose them to do. The writers choose Penny to fall in love with Leonard. They could of made Penny end up with a tall, strong guy to look after her. But as Lenny was the original narrative, and story they wanted to tell. And Leonard and Penny are both the main characters. Penny ended up with Leonard. Her having the "life sucked out of her" perspective. Did not have to occur even when she married Leonard. The writers have deconstructed her character from this fun, messy, free spirited, liberated young woman. To this bored, domesticated, depressed housewife. Once again that is a writing issue. Seems to me has little to do with marrying Leonard.

Regarding Sheldon's comment to Penny about Lenny needing a marriage counselor, I agree with @Kathy2611 that he was giving his opinion based on a misinterpretation of Leonard's actions as a result of trying to look after the Ramona situation.

However, Sheldon saw the rocky start of their marriage.  He's witnessed their battles.  He has Beverley feeding him theories on the doubtfulness of Lenny's happiness, and Lenny asked him to make an RA which they aren't even holding to.

Sheldon only stated what some of us on this forum already feel about Lenny's marriage, so why get mad at him for having the balls to say it?

I certainly hope S11 will address the Lenny's issues TPTB have chosen to exploit.

I kind of think they will just exploit it some more when they think it is funny. To put it another way I expect the current pattern to continue. Of course season eight was nothing like what I had expected so who knows what will happen next.

Truth of the matter is that Penny, Leonard, Sheldon and Amy don't seem to have any secrets from each other.

There is still the mater of Sheldon's secret storage locker.

Yeah Let's have some more Lenny fighting episodes with no resolution at all or TPTB could pick up Penny's unhappy job career again, an unsolved ongoing plot for the last three seasons.

Lenny is at the moment just some sort of relationship adviser for Shamy with no own plots at all. To me that is a little bit of waste of two actors.

I think they do have a plot. It's underlying the main ones, but it's there. We're getting clues all the time. There's something going on that's not quite right. However, they both sense it : they're no longer in what Leonard used to call 'different places in the relationship'. Their bickering 'You've got fingers and a mouth, you do it' and 'You've got feet and legs, you do it' showed a mutual reflecting of the tense atmosphere in the room. I don't think either of them is suppressing emotions or hiding anything from the other, which will bode well for them when whatever the boil is finally bursts and it all comes out.

LOL. They don't keep much private, do they ? Sheldon, however, keeps his own secrets that he doesn't reveal until it's time.

In this ep it was really blatant how the makers deliberately don't give us any Lenny. L & P are Sheldon's best friends, they should have discussed the Ramona sich just the 2 of them (preferably in bed).

Best bit IMO was Bernadette's reaction to Penny's saying "Sheldon's sexual appetite". That would also be the appropriate reaction to the words "Amy's sexual appetite" - pity we've never seen a couple of the guys react like that to those words.

When Ramona kissed Sheldon, I think we can take that as a "yes" to his question. Which, of course, S had no idea was inviting that response, oh no.

Remember when Amy pointed out that Indiana Jones's intervention had no effect on the outcome of Raiders of the lost Ark? Well, the other characters' intervention had no effect on the outcome of Ramona's hitting on Sheldon, so they might just as well have treated S like a grown-up and minded their own business.

True for the men certainly. Amy did give Penny and Bernie a job.

Sheldon is an adult ,who is responsible for his own actions so it can never be Penny's or Bernie's responsibility to prevent him from cheating.

I don't think anybody thought he'd do that ! He wouldn't even think about it. Amy wanted Penny and Bernie to keep an eye on Sheldon, just as Leonard asked Sheldon to keep an eye on Penny when he was away. She meant things like protect him from scams in the junk mail and make sure he ate. They thought the worst he'd do was wander into traffic.

It's ok:

Like I said, the reasons for the writers writing Penny that way are in the show. It's not that they won't let her, they write her that way because it makes sense to the story.

Like I said, everything in the show is because of the writers but the point of writing a story is to have the audience immersed in the characters and for the characters to have a life of their own inside the story's universe.

Why is Sheldon an ass? It's part of who he is. As we've seen in the show, he can be obnoxious and egotistical.

Why does Amy have the patience of a saint? It's part of her character. She can be very patient and understanding, as evidenced by her behaviour towards Sheldon.

Why did Penny propose to Leonard in 7.23? Because her career was going to hell and she was looking for a life saver.

Why does Penny make bad life choices? Because she feels lost and things didn't go according to her plan, so she's looking for the next best thing (Leonard) which is evidently sucking the life out of her.

See? No mention of thewritersmadethemdoit! anywhere. I just watch the show and interpret what I see/hear.

Amy doesn't have the patience of a saint. Her patience, which is solely with Sheldon, is that of a beseiger, who is prepared to sit surrounding the target city for years until the defenders are starved or exhausted into surrender. You may see her human doormat act as being "patient and understanding" but what we see is that she wore Sheldon's defences down. (I wonder why we have the "Leonard wore Penny down" gag so often when it's never mentioned that Amy did actually wear Sheldon down.)

It is Penny who has the patience of a saint, both with Sheldon and with Amy. In fact her toleration of Amy's infantile behaviour, selfishness and sly malice has gone past the saintlike to what could be politely called naive or less politely idiotic. I think this is OOC and weakens the character. Bernadette has also shown an OOC degree of patience with Amy.

Just seen the full episode, and I loved it.

The kiss was nowhere near as bad as I expected it to be, and all the jokes were brilliant.

I was expecting a "the screen has frozen" joke, when Amy was sat totally still, when she found out that Ramona was in the apartment, but it didn't come.

Now I've just got to white knuckle it for a few months, until Season 11 starts. :(

...except how is this OOC with regards to Bernadette? Her behaviour around Amy preceded her other behaviors.

Both Leonard and Penny have had the patience of Job regarding Sheldon. I'd say this is something Penny learned from Leonard who finds Sheldon relatively easy compared to his own mother (who is master sith).

Overall the whole group has patience because as trying as each of the friends can be it is better than not having them as friends.

Wow!

I'm starting to get the impression you don't like the Amy character.

I think Sheldon must've gone back to the apartment, before flying out to Princeton, because, don't you need your Passport, to fly even internally these days?

What?  Where did you hear this from that you need a passport to fly internally?

You have always needed a government issued i.d. (unless it is your minor child) to fly domestically within the United States.   Most people always carry their drivers license with them, and that is usually sufficient to board a domestic flight.   I expect Sheldon would have identification on him.

More interesting is if he actually carries the ring in his pocket at all times?  My guess is that was at home in the safe.

The majority of Americans don't have a passport so if they need identification they no doubt produce something else such as a driv/ing/er's licence, or one of the many cards Sheldon carries in his wallet.

So did he also pick up his overnight emergency bag that we just didn't see him carry ? Is it in a taxi, told to wait outside the Princeton university building in case Amy sends Sheldon away from her door ?
