Yes and If they were never going to show/introduce Amy's dad then they IMO should have never mentioned him out of the blue after so many years. As soon as they mentioned he exists and is in Amy's life people were always going to wonder and hope he makes an appearance.

I get what you are saying @MsGreentea but that would be indeed disappointing as @mirs1 pointed out. And considering I don't watch that other show and Amy is by far and away my favorite character, seeing Amy's parents actually for me is way more desired.

Yes, agree with you completely.

I was happy assuming Amy's Dad was dead or left the family or something, but they had to bring him up, and during the proposal, tied in with Hawking, so people were really interested to see her Dad. I know for a fact, that many people around me have been interested to see him since 11X1. So now, I'm intrigued, too.

Loved the episode, so much I watched it three times in a row this morning lol

Two great storylines I thought, the friendships they have with each other were highlighted so strongly last night and for a show that has friendship and what that means at the very core of the show it was great to see.

Sheldon's story was fascinating really, he got a glimpse at what his life could have been had he kept to Science and that was his main focus. It was interesting throughout the episode when he saw the sort of work Dr.Wolcott was making and the sacrifices he gave up to achieve that, the guys could see that Sheldon looking on the outside anyway was interested. Leonard then initiated what for me was the most brilliant piece of dialogue in this episode and one of the most powerful ones in quite a while on the show:

Quote

Leonard: "Please don't tell me you want to live like this?"

Sheldon: "See that's the strange thing, I don't. What is wrong with me?! Why don't I want this?"

Howard: "Nothing is wrong with you. You have friends, you have a fiancee, you have a full life!"

Sheldon: "You know what you're right. Thank you for bringing me up here, but I think I am ready to go home now."

Raj: "Really, you don't want to stay for dinner and talk more science?"

Sheldon: "No, I miss Amy."

Not going to lie I almost teared up at this exchange lol

On to Amy's Hen/Bachelorette party and again friendship was at the core of this story as well. I think any other day or night Amy would have loved what they had thrown for her because she does like quilting (she acknowledged that in the dialogue later) but she wanted to experience a more traditional night out, get a bit reckless kind of event. Which is in fact very in character with Amy, remember the early seasons when the girls introduced her to new experiences she never got chance to experience and she was so enthusiastic (sometimes over the top lol) about that? Well a hen night is no exception lol.

Loved the scenes at the bar and so hyped Amy was, i laughed so hard at her telling everyone in the bar she was getting married. Amy passing out fairly quickly didn't surprise me and again I found it funny.

I really enjoyed the scenes back in 4A when she woke up and in a sign of friendship they made up crazy stuff that she did so that she got to experience a crazy night out lol. I just love watching the girls interact together, their comedic tiing is just so brilliant.

Shamy? I loved at the beginning when they were eating in 4A the concern Amy had for Sheldon going to this DR's cabin in the middle of nowhere and thought it was funny how all the guys ended up being told by their better halves they had to go with him. There was a few kind of child Sheldon jokes in there as well, borderline ones that would annoy me but I managed to just shrug them off as the exchanges overall were good. I loled at Bernie telling them they had to take Raj otherwise he would have gone to their Bachelorette party.

Loved Loved Loved the bed scene, everything about it!

I thought the scene when Sheldon returned was so so good. You see a worse for wear Amy trying to butter her piece of toast which was so funny, Mayim again brilliant in this scene. I loved the greeting they gave each other and the gentle peck/kiss on the head Sheldon gave her and laughed as Amy recounted what apparently happened on their night out lol.

So we had some sweet and comedy moments then we had again another powerful exchange in this episode with their experiences both realising they have in a way kind of changed and I guess if they were going to change further would they still love each other? Both of them in a sweet moment confirmed they would, which for me was them kind of reflecting on how far they have come together and both on an individual level if that makes sense. Anyway I loved this scene a lot and Amy's riverdance at the end was just so funny. I'm convinced Sheldon is a leg man lol they way he looked at her legs when the girls went somewhere years ago all dressed up, the Harry Potter cosplay and then he was looking at her legs as she was dancing lol. The final line '"I'm the only man you do that for" just LOL!

Long winded post, I hope a lot of it makes actually sense lol.

Long story short I loved it, probably my favorite episode of this season really. Two great storylines, friendships, bromances, womances (is that a word?) sweet and tender moments and full of Shamy goodness. An excellent episode from start to finish I thought :)

I now look forward to reading what everyone else made of it :)

Mayim getting a lot of love from Vulture in this one :)

"What a difference one really great line and some really bad Riverdancing can make. This season of The Big Bang Theory has been pretty by the numbers – the most common number being three, as in lots of three-star rated episodes. But one of the best lines of dialogue in TBBT history and some fine physical comedy from Mayim Bialik elevate this one up a whole star."

Forgot to add I loved the bed scene (OMFG seriously how could I forget to mention that?!?!), very cute and very Shamy (lol protection from sunburn). Just loved everything about it, the whole conversation, the concern, the gentle and tender affection etc :)

Oh, Leonard's tomato-eating comment was GREAT.

Guys, I loved this episode!  And I’ve loved reading all your comments!  Yes, Mayim was on fire (which many tv critics are also talking about).  This had everything we’ve hoped for with our Shamy.  They were sweet, gentle, concerned, loving and tender with each other while still being in character.  As Johnny described so well, they recognized changes in themselves but will still love each other.   From the girls’ “wild” night to the bromance of the guys......it was all so well done.  And as others have said, I think this episode was really more about deep friendship.  The guys were there to take care of Sheldon, and then they wanted to protect him from making bad choices.  The girls were totally there for Amy to protect her despite her wanting to make bad choices!

This episode was comedy gold.!

I must be the odd one out. I'm not interested in seeing anymore family of any kind. I don't want to waste a few minutes of a 18 minute show on people we will never see again. If she's pointing out relatives to the rest of the gang and making a few funny comments about them that would be fine. But I don't want to see them. I just do not care about them at all.

Shamy were so great in this episode! I think my favourite part is the way Sheldon said he misses Amy...I thought it would be more of a Moment but I guess it goes to show that it's just how things are now - he misses Amy so he has to go back home, no big deal. My other favourite part is in Jonny's gif. A very intimate gesture.

Honestly, I thought for a minute they were going to break them up and I was getting steamed about it.

My concern was that one or both of them might get shit-faced and kiss (or worse) someone else.

I want to see Sheldon worried about Amy not using protection.

I haven't seen the episode yet, so I'm a little confused by this statement.

Are you saying that, Sheldon thought Amy might have sex with a stranger, on her Hen Night?

Mayim is brilliant at playing hungover Amy.

No, when you see you will find it funny and sweet :)

The protection against what is discussed in some posts further back if you really want to know exactly.

She was a little taken aback by the suggestion of 'protection' for a moment. He was actually referring to suncream because he thought she might be going out of doors and getting her sensitive skin burnt.

That is just so unbelievable sweet and cute.

BTW: Who wears their watch to bed?

LOL I really don’t know! But they seem to wear watches to bed all the time, and I still can’t figure out why. Could this be considered as one of the shamystyle quirks??

It could be. Tbh I tend to focus more into their goodness to each other in those bed moments. Shamy intimacy interactions are really some of my favourite things from tbbt <3

Perhaps it's a fitness and sleep tracker, or a phone.  Who needs a watch for the time these days ?

Many people, especially people from Sciences. I used to wear watch all time, I have just stopped to wear because my wrist joint issues. Who works on labs need a watch for count time of many lab experiences and smart phones must not be used in lab rooms. Nowdays I use a chronometer when I am working and need counting time precisely in some experiences.

Thanks. I didn't know this. I don't want to think how long it is since I've been in a lab. We used watches then of course.

You're welcome. Watches suit Shamy and being Sheldon someone who love schedules, he would not forget to use his all time :)
