[Spoilers] Shamy: Season 11

Yeah like I said in my post there needs to be some established backstory and canon introduced in regards to her father, if he doesn't appear then in dialogue they can perhaps explain her situation when it comes to her father.

Is it bad that I'm not hugely bothered about Amy's family right now !! [emoji15].....yes I'd like to see her Mum once Shamy are engaged etc and I think it'd be a good way of bringing up her father , with a wedding to plan, I'm feel sure we'll get to hear if he's "giving her away " or if he's maybe not around. But honestly as long as we get more beautiful Shamy like we got season 10, I'm not overly bothered about meeting her family .....unless it's likely to bring about cute Shamy scenes then sign me up ! I would like to see Amy´s parents appear either together or in separate episodes.

As many of you have already said, I need some more information about Amy´s father as he´s a complete mistery to me.

My favorite option would be, that Amy´s father appears, because he heard that Amy is getting married and wants to meet her fiancée. (I want to hear that word as often as possible in season 11, because I still can´t believe that they are finally getting married yay!)

If I understood Amy´s comment correctly, her father seems to have issues reading other´s emotions, so it would be nice to have a moment, where they both are unable to recognize an emotion and discuss about it, helping each other to approach to a solution (Could be sweet and funny, especially if Amy´s father was a scientist as well), which ends up thanking each other and offering each other to call each other by their surnames. (And maybe now that they are becoming a family, Sheldon asking Mr. Fowler if he can call him "Father").

This always remembers me of one of the most tender hugs from the earlier Sheldon. He really loved Prof. Proton. He was so happy when Arthur Jeffries agreed that Sheldon should call himself Prof. Proton Junior.

I know this may not be a popular theory but I keep thinking our Shamy is going to elope and we will only see the nuptials in a flashback part of an episode.   TPTB have never done a big wedding on our show. It really is not set up for that type of large affair. Even Bernie and Howard's traditional type wedding was low key, with only our gang and Bernies Dad onscreen (Ms Wolowitz being heard but not seen).

Could it it be possible 11.1 has them returning from Princeton after the summer as a married couple?( This way Jim doesn't have to remove his brand new real wedding ring!)

thoughts...

I would be extremely disappointed but I have no input over the show so...

But I think the chances of an elopement are virtually zero. Not with this couple, not with their popularity. Wouldn't make sense from a business/viewership perspective.

Agree with you. An elopment doesnt fit with shamy popularity imo. Viewers have been watching each meaningful step from their relationship, a wedding is a must  see imo.  If they eloped it would look like to be missing something to their fans. I am not much into a big wedding but I must confess I would love to see Amy as a bride and wearing her tiara. And also to see nervous groom Sheldon. Maybe I am a bit needy greedy but I would like  to see them putting a wedding band in to each other finger. :)

I don't think an elopement will happen either.  A Shamy wedding would be way too much of a cash cow.

And as for Jim's wedding ring....

Hes going to have to take it off when they start filming either way.  Kunal, Melissa, & Simon are all married but they don't wear them while playing their characters.  The rings Simon & Melissa wear are not their own.  They're props for the show and are the wedding rings of Howard & Bernadette.

Unless of course it was a great-aunt whom she called 'Aunt' who had the ninety-third birthday party about five years ago, the side of Amy's family that has one pair of grandparents still alive can't be the same side that has an aunt in her late nineties. So, Amy is obviously in touch with both sides of her family.  In fact she was close enough to her other grandmother to wear something of hers. This doesn't look as though there is any significant estrangement. If Amy's own father is deceased, she has a grandfather who can give her away, despite, if it's true, bad posture. Considering Sheldon's mentioned a few times that his father died when he was young, if  Amy's father was alive I have a feeling he'd have referred to him by now.

Are they?  Is there like an interview or something about that?  Cause it's not unheard of actors wearing their own wedding bands in such cases.

I think the rings used in Howardette's wedding ceremony were props, but, as far as I can see,  after that they wore their own wedding rings, at least Simon did.

That's exactly how a wrote a Shamy wedding, in one of my fanfics, save for them going to London, not Princeton.

I think, no matter where or how the wedding happens, the tiara is essential.

Yes, but only after her grandmother had died.

Yeah. Amy is the character whose parents we know less about so far and as shamy is surely going to the next level in their relatiosnhip, it would about time imo for writers taking care about it.

Would Amy's parents be together or not? Amy was raised by both or only by her mother? Has Sheldon met Amy's mother at person after they reunited?  Did Sheldon meet Amy's father? Does Sheldon get along with Amy's mother?

Questions and more questions, lol! We need answers!!  There were a few mentions about Amy's parents through the years that I can not wait for know more. Writers usually dont throw hints without using them soon or later in shamy storyplots, I guess.

Hiatus, please get shorter! :icon_cheesygrin:

For me it's also:

1) To see her mother again, preferably longer than a skype call this time. lol

I would like to see the same actress give it another shot if she's available. She's credited as the voice of that weird collector doctor's mother in S8 so I guess they still have her number. I think it's long overdue after all those anecdotes to see an actual interaction between her and Amy to get a feeling what this mother-daughter relationship actually feels like.

2) To get at least some information about her father.

There was one kinda sorta mention in one episode but tbqh that sounded more like a quip about Freudian excuses instead of actual information about her father so we're still at the same point we've always been: What is up with this guy??? Did Amy grow up with a father? Or did he leave the family? Did Amy ever meet him? Is he even alive? I want an answer!!

I don't necessarily need to see him although I sure wouldn't be mad if he suddenly pops up cause he heard his daughter is getting married or something. It could be interesting but at first I'd need some answers.

I think a nice storyline could be that after Amy is back from Princeton she and Sheldon visit her mother to tell her about the engagement and family shenanigans ensue.

I have to say I am not all that interested in meeting Amy's family. If they decided to bring in someone though I guess my preference is for Amy's mom. I would like to know if Sheldon goes with Amy to family gatherings and functions. Why did Penny go with Amy to her aunts funeral instead of Sheldon? Is it merely because Sheldon would have a difficult time at a funeral in general or due to Amy's mom not approving of him? This kind of information I would find interesting. I was not a fan of Lenny's 2nd wedding. I thought it was too crowded with all the extra people and not enough time given to the main characters. I hope that that the Shamy wedding is more personal with one plot instead of two or more...

Why is it one or the other? I don't remember it was explicitly said Sheldon didn't go.  Those are a close group of friends, so it's not unlikely all the gang attended Amy's aunt funeral to show her their support, that doesn't mean Sheldon wasn't with her. I find pretty likely that he sometimes accompanies Amy to family gatherings and functions and already knows most of her relatives. In the episode in S. 5 where he decided to play video games rather than going with Amy to an aunt's birthday, he had no problem in meeting her family at first, then found something more interesting to do. I can't believe that it has always been the case since then (also because Amy was pretty annoyed by that and made it clear to him). Amy's mother and most of hr family lives nearby, it would have been difficult to avoid them constantly for 5 years without Amy getting mad at him, LOL!

Yes, true on all counts but this is Sheldon we are talking about his timeline for things is way off. I would like to know if her mom likes Sheldon and Amy together. That's about it from me...I know my opinion on meeting Amy's family is not typical...

Oh, I would love to know that too....also because the few info we have about that are contradictory. I mean, Amy's mom wanted her to have a boyfriend, so she seemed happy when Amy introduced her Sheldon in that Skype call. The way the conversation went, though, was a huge turn down for the poor lady, LOL! After that, the only time Amy mentioned her mother in relation to Sheldon was when she was afraid to tell her they were broken up, which suggests her mom might have liked him (or the idea her daughter was in a relationship whatsoever). I'd love to know how they get along. If meemaw might be any indication, I think Molaro likes it more when there are family conflicts for Sheldon, so my money is on the fact Mrs. Fawler doesn't like Sheldon, but tolerates him because she doesn't want her child to be alone. I really want to know that for sure, though.

Do you remember what episode this was? I was depressed during the break up and didn't follow as closely as usual. Now that I know it ends up ok I might like to revisit that episode...that conversation.

I agree about the family conflict stuff...they do seem to like that angle. I think it would be great if Sheldon's mom actually really liked Sheldon. It might be kind of interesting to reintroduce her to the audience by Amy skyping with her from Princeton asking her advice on the Sheldon proposal and having her mom be supportive of the proposal and some give some advice to Amy that Sheldon is a great guy, and that Amy seems happier then ever and say yes to the man. I wonder if Amy and her mom have that type of relationship? I guess that will fall to Penny and Bernadette...just an interesting thought I had.

S9E3 The Bachelor Party Corrosion. And I really sugest you to revisit S9. After everything we had seen shamy accomplishing lately, the breaking up really made sense and made their relationship got better. Sometimes the bad has come first for the good be really learned how to be appreciated :)

I wanted to shake them too... Rewatching it will be always  depressing  but at same for their suffering as they struggled with the situatiom imo softs it a bit as it makes sense for the way things happened, you know.  I am doing that revisit these days

I live in AZ. It is going to be 115° outside over the upcoming weekend. Perhaps I will shut myself in and revisit season 9. Be too hot to leave the house...

I will let you know my thoughts!
