I think he had planned to propose before the Princeton thing came up but decided to put it on hold until she got back.  Ramona kissing him made him realise that there was no point waiting.

I think so. Probably originally intended the proposal for the seventh anniversary date night.

Very happy about shamy engagement. At least this summer I had no doubts about their relationship

I realized something. According to the information from Kev0821 in the DT, there is a scene some time after the engagement but pre-time jump during which it's Lenny's anniversary. If "anniversary" refers to anniversary of their first wedding, there's a chance Shamy may have gotten engaged on their 7th anniversary. Exact timing is currently still unclear, but if we recall from 8.24/9.01, Lenny got married a couple of days-ish (?) after Shamy's fifth anniversary, so if (this is a pretty big if) there were an equal number of days between Shamy's 5th/Lenny's wedding and Shamy's engagement/Lenny cake scene, Shamy's engagement happened on their 7th anniversary!

Lenny got married exactly 2 days after Shamy's fifth anniversary (because they decided to go to Vegas the day after Shamy had their big fight on their anniversary and then got married the day after that). So, if the timeline is the one we think, if not exactly on their 7th anniversary, Shamy got engaged in a very close neighborhood of that date...so romantic!

Yes. Amy can afford to be generous now instead of jealous, and so far as we know Ramona hasn't tried to interfere since she's known for sure that Sheldon isn't free. Amy wouldn't want to take a friend away from Sheldon now she feels secure. Good for her. I'm glad to read what she did.

Exactly  my opinion about this. I think it was too much too but Amy can act in an overeacted way when she is extremely happy, lol! Can not wait for see Ramona s face!!

The cold open with Sheldon talking to Lenny on the phone reminded me a bit of the s9 premiere when he was on the phone telling Leonard Amy broke up with him. I wonder how it will play out this time.

Yes and something I would totally expect Sheldon to do! No excuses writers we need to see Amy's family now! On the other side of the family Mary adores her son, I've always got that impression from her every time I see them interact, so she will be over the moon for them.

So glad they talked about Ramona, really didn't want a oh this woman kissed me a few years later for some drama. Not 100% keen on Amy's reaction to her, happy that she managed to not let it annoy her to the point of sending some monkeys armed with blowguns after her lol, but thanking her? I am not sure I would have gone that far.

I thought Sheldon might stay the day but the whole 3 months? Wow they are so loved up LOL!!!

Sounds like it's going to be great episode!

Same here. As I have mentioned Amy tends to overreacting when she is extremely happy so I take it. Very curious to see the scene, maybe a bit of sassy Amy mixed with "grateful" Amy ? It would be awesome though!

Loved that so much, Sheldon could not be without his fiancee (oh the word is oficial!! <3) for the rest of her time at Princeton. Who said Sheldon had a hippie side? Love moves really in misterious ways!

Seems like not so much happened in 1101.

Amy saying yes, that's a given. But I'm kinda disappointed they didn't show us that Amy saying yes right after that scene in 1024.  And the whole drama about Ramona, yeah, really unnecessary. And if I'm not wrong, Sheldon didn't tell Amy about Ramona, but kinda spilled the beans in the call with Lenny, right?

I'm so HAPPY that Amy's dad is alive, and Sheldon asked his permission.

Amy hugging Ramona? Haha, never thought about this. 

And, I just learned that Steve Holland will be the new showrunner, May I ask, is he "Shamy friendly", or not?

After collecting all the spoilers I could find and processing the information I'm overall pretty happy with the episode. There are some sweet things for all the couples celebrating their milestones and progress which is a nice touch. Pity Raj is still a loser but he'll hopefully get some progress this season. (Well, that's a lot of wishful thinking here but whatever.)

Obligatory Shamy thoughts on the spoilers:

- Leonard interrupting Shamy's proposal - I informed you thusly!! LOL

- I really like that the Ramona kiss didn't cause huge drama. I love even more that Sheldon spilling the beans played out pretty much as I imagined with him telling Amy how the kiss gave him that epiphany moment of how he only wants Amy or something lovey-dovey like that. Of course she'd swoon over that. Awww. (No panic attack from Amy though but we had Leonard to get to the point of Ramona's kiss so functionally the same thing.)

- Since this is the only episode in Princeton I like that we get to see Amy with her colleagues and that they're praising her work and everything. Amy getting to introduce Sheldon as her fiancé sounds sweet. Only downside being Sheldon kinda ruining the evening again (because of course we can't go without a "Sheldon is still Sheldon" reminder ugh) but I like how they make up with the "we have a life time to figure this out" thing. <3 Also, another kiss!! YAY!!

- Sheldon stays longer in Princeton - I read somewhere the whole three months even. awww Apparently that's false information and he only stays until the next day or so.

- AMY'S DAD!! He exists and Sheldon even talked to him. They better bring her family in for an episode or two now!!

- A proper time jump!! Thank goodness we don't have to guess every episode how far they are through the summer. LOL

- Amy's reaction to Ramona sounds so funny. I was hoping we'd get something unexpected instead of the dramatic clash everyone was thinking would happen (including the characters!) and Amy hugging her enthusiastically is adorable. She's such a sweetheart!! <3 And I guess have had 3 lovey-dovey months with Sheldon in Princeton might have helped to let any anger go.

All in all pretty happy with how this turned out - drama-free and with a few cute nuggets for us fans! A toast to the happy couple!! <3

Well, Amy was right in front of him when Sheldon picked up the phone and heard the whole thing, I assume it might count as Sheldon telling her about Ramona. It was not the heartfelt conversation I had in mind, TBH, and it felt like everything was swept under the rug (in perfect TBBT premiere-style) but apparently Amy was impressed with Sheldon explanation about why he decided to propose. 

I'm also very happy to finally hear something about Amy's dad. He is alive and pretty much involved in her life, since she explicitly asked if Sheldon had asked his permission to marry her. Also, I know it's very old fashioned, but I loved that Sheldon did that.

Holland was Molaro's closest collaborator in the writers room, so I'm not expecting a huge shift in the show dynamics. Also, Molaro will continue to be involved with the main show, he just needed more time for the new project. I'm not sure what "Shamy friendly" might mean because tptb have more than once stated the scripts are a group effort and the writers take turns in the credits of the various episodes because, for some reason, it's not permitted to sign the script collectively. Given last season, I might say the writers are all Shamy friendly lately, LOL!

After reading yours and @April posts, I realized that it was Leonard calling Sheldon, not Sheldon calling Lenny. So Sheldon was still on one knee, right? So it was right after 1024's tag, right? Okay, now I'm more happy than earlier. Haha.

So it was my reading skills getting in the way.

I expected pretty much that to happen. It's TBBT after all and every time we fans want a big heartfelt talk they go with the short cut. But I'm fine with the way they did this here cause the important points are in there, even if it's short.

Personally, I don't care about the old-fashioned permission thing (and I'm wondering whether Amy actually finds that important or if its just because he asked SH first? lol) but after all these years of silence on the matter I'm relived to find out that her dad exists and they're in contact somehow. Still not sure about the family relations here though (as in: are her parents separated or living together??).
