spidergirl Posted August 16, 2017 Share Posted August 16, 2017 (edited) Last week I rewatched the tiara episode and it is indeed one of the best shamy moments and one of my favourites. Both reactions were so awesome and that hug Sheldon reciprocrated awkwardly was really too sweet. Love it! I like to think Amy has the tiara among her most favourite possessions, waiting for her wedding day with Sheldon. Now it is getting closer, as that ring is finally on her finger! A silly smile is glued in my face since 6: 00 am my time zone. And I am not sleepy yet due the excitment, lol! The whole cast and crew and writers gushed about how perfect and beautiful they thought the proposal was and do they bother showing us Amy's answer? No!! We have to hear about her saying yes. And then, unlike the other two couples, do we get a kiss? Noooooo. We get a hug. We have to wait until later to get a kiss and its after she got angry at him for... well, for being Sheldon. I'm sorry you feel that way, and I can see where you're coming from. Hopefully the writers give us some more Shamy domestic bliss (they were practically married last season and now they're engaged) this season, complete with them celebrating and rejoicing their engagement. Also consider this: even Sheldon (and therefore the writers) pointed out his tendency to take Amy away from the spotlight and promised to work on that. This flows very nicely from the ending of last season: trying to be happy and proud of her achievements rather than focus on how it affects him. Maybe this will be present in the new stories. (please new showrunner, please) Let Amy be in the spotlight more, I'm completely on board with that. I really would like to hear more about Princeton and her experience there. Awwww Kathy - don't be sad *hugs* From what I hear, those that went said it was an amazing & sweet episode.....and very Shamy. I know where you came from about this, as some shamy things did not happen as I was expecting they would, like the proposal. But I have learnt that some stuff worked or turned to be better as I watch the whole thing on screen, maybe you can feel it as better on September 25. Most of spoilers sources said the shamy scenes in s11 e1 taping were beautiful and sweet. Maybe in end it is what highlights more and the lack of some things could be handled better. After the highly emotional footage that led to the proposal, I expected an equally emotional reply from Amy (with a talk about Ramona included), instead the writers apparently went for something funnier and lighthearted. Also, the whole thing is said mostly from Sheldon's PoV, we see Amy being happy he asked her father's permission and proudly calling him her fiance at the dinner with her collegues, but not how happy she is in saying YES. Since Sheldon asked Amy's Father's permission of marrying his daughter, then it suggested that he had been thinking about proposing for a while, maybe before Amy's trip. Then Ramona was NEVER a catalyst. 2. Since Ramona had nothing to do with Sheldon proposing to Amy, then why did Amy thank and hug her in the tag? TBH, I have mixed feelings about the whole episode, but I don't want to overthink this and I even put that hug under the "funny" category. Sigh. And, I'm not saying this for making me feel better, because I also love Lenny and Howardette, but I really think that the writers can't handle a decent proposal. It's like when someone proposes, something "not so nice" has to happen. When Howard wanted to propose, Bernie wanted to break up with him; and when Penny lost her job, she suddenly wanted to propose to Leonard......And Shamy, that unnecessary Ramona drama......It's really frustrating. Do we know when exactly Sheldon asked her dad? 2. Ramona is still a catalyst in that her actions caused an immediate reaction. Doesn't mean that he would have never proposed without her but it spurred him into action to do it right then and there. And he basically said so during the proposal with Leonard on the phone. Keep in mind Amy was still wondering if he was thinking about marriage at all half a season ago and she heard how he had this epiphany due to Ramona's actions so I think it makes sense from her point of view to link the two. In addition I think it's just a way for the writers to give closure to the Ramona thing so that we don't have to worry about Amy still being jealous of her/mad at her every week.
