spidergirl Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 (edited) Happy episode day, Shamies! I hope tonight's episode will be funny and we could get some Shamy time alone. Their best moments happen when they are alone in scene PS: writers, please, remember you still owe us a Sheldon initiating cuddle. On couch, bed, wherever! Kathy2611 Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 As much as I hated the idea of Young Sheldon, I'm willing to give it a try and sadly, I liked it much better then this episode of BBT. Yeah, I'm suffering from Shamy withdrawal and I'm very quickly getting bored with BBT.....
April Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 Yeah, count me in on feeling the withdrawal symptoms as well. I guess with S10 I was just spoiled rotten by the writers with Shamy getting not only so much cute shippy stuff but also a lot of development that was great to discuss. Now there hasn't been much for a couple of episodes and the next ones will have at most a scene or two, so not much to talk about either. Oh well... amethyst Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 @Kathy2611 @April and @Jonny....I'm so glad it's not just me who's feeling this way!! Maybe it is the fact we had so much Shamy goodness in season 10 but, honestly, this season so far, has left me feeling " disappointed " in regards to our favourite couple
Kathy2611 Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 It's not just the lack of our favorite couple though. It's the whole show. It's like they can't think of anything new or fresh now and are relying on old rehashed jokes that just don't fit anymore and/or are just not funny for the billionth time. I almost forgot it was on a few weeks ago so I started setting my alarm so I wouldn't miss it. Kinda glad I did cuz the last couple of episodes, I needed it. When before I was on edge several hours before it even started. Even during the break up, I had to watch it. Now.....not so much. I find I'm getting bored with the whole show this season and it's because of the rehashing of the old. Enough already.
Soopysue Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 Oh gosh, I'm feeling the same way guys, extreme season 10 Shamy withdrawal symptoms here, it's like they forgot there character growth ! So many old jokes and re hashed storylines at the moment - I'm kinda disappointed - I hate feeling like this over the Big Bang , it's like they worked so hard to grow the characters organically over the last couple of seasons especially but then forgot in season 11 !!!! I really would love a kiss/hug or just some quality Shamy time - it seems like Mayim has hardly been in the show lately ! I'm totally fine with other characters getting more storylines just now, I know season 10 we were extremely lucky - but I was kinda hoping they'd at least do thing together in the background - not just separately or the whole gang together or quirky pairings ?!!!! Anyway - fingers crossed we get some cute Shamy very soon!
April Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 I honestly wouldn't have thought the change of a showrunner and (in part) writing team would be so dramatic, or at least not so dramatic into a backwards direction for Sheldon and Amy. So far they had a few good ideas here and there, sure. I also had a few good laughs and found some scenes super sweet. I don't think they're in any danger as a couple or whatever. But what I'm missing is the sense of progress and character development, and even when there were dark times like with the breakup I still got that. Molaro was pretty clear into what direction he wanted these two to move forward and I welcomed it wholeheartedly as y'all know. I'm missing that sense of a "vision" from Holland so far. To be fair to him though it's still early into his time as a showrunner and maybe he just needs some time to find his way and get all the stupid ideas out he had in the past years. I hope he'll find a better balance here. Like, I like the focus on science and work related stories so far but at the same time they're used for some really old and tired jokes that I don't think were needed. It feels very much like a nostalgia trip to old seasons which doesn't work well after S10.

I think i already talked about this last week. Season 10 really was shamy heaven, and not only just shamy development, like, we had amazing episodes with all the couples (especially shamy and lenny), having fun and creating very interesting stuff together, not to mention the whole moving in together development with shamy. Honestly so far in season 11 we are not getting any development..and now the lack of shamy moments..:( i really hope that we get something really good to hold on the hiatus after christmas. As usual you are great to express all Shamy things , no matter if they are from good or bad vibes. You really hit the nail on the head about how I have been feeling as viewer and shipper this season: I had high hopes abou new showrunner and new writers in writing team but so far it is hard to say they are doing a good job . Because they are imo using old show plots for get granted laughs. The point is imo repetitive stuff after a wonderful season where happened so great character development for Shamy is poinless: there are two seasons( at least) for the viewers watch great things and so far we have recycled storyplots. I hope this scenario changes soon , for the sake of all tbbt fans. 37 minutes ago, April said: But what I'm missing is the sense of progress and character development, and even when there were dark times like with the breakup I still got that. Apart the Shamy engagement, the characters seem to be living in an old timeline, like this season was a sequence of flashbacks but in presente timeline, you know what I mean? 37 minutes ago, April said: To be fair to him though it's still early into his time as a showrunner and maybe he just needs some time to find his way and get all the stupid ideas out he had in the past years. What really bothers me at the moment is the lack of fun that I used to have much every episode day. Crossing fingers for that situation ends really soon! koops Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 I haven't seen this week's episode yet, but to be fair it's S11. Most of the major milestones have been hit, the big moments have happened, and I doubt you can recapture that same excitement of even last season because the characters have now arrived at their destination, in many ways. I think it's hard for Holland to give the characters a direction because there's very few places left he can take them to. I kept saying that, at this point, the only area where they can maybe take them somewhere is in their careers, with someone becoming a professor or something, but other than that, given that this isn't the kind of show where they would have people move to another apartment, let alone city or have any other major overhaul of that kind, there's not much left to write. I think what we are going through right now is the classic case of the show that has gone on too long, tbh, and I feel that if this had been the final season and we didn't have a 12th lined up, perhaps people wouldn't feel so bored. Personally, I really really enjoyed episodes 1 to 3 and then found 4 and 5 to fall kind of flat for different reasons, so I'm not even sure it's an issue with the change in showrunner as much as the age of the show. Jonny Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 Shamy project, seeing/meeting Amy's parents, some more planning maybe have Amy have a few bridezilla moments if she has taken over the organising etc. There are a few things they could do instead of rehashing old themes and gags. snapepans Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 (edited) I was going to say that I felt this season's Shamy was like Season 8's Lenny, engaged but not so much going on. Please let me be wrong. ETA: I just realized that I shouldn't express my feelings about BOTH COUPLE. I guess there are always people who are laughing at your unhappiness, sigh. I dont know..with the exception of the first episode i'm feeling season 11 being a big filler..and i hope i'm wrong and they mixed up things in the next episodes. Actually, I do think there are still a lot of things to do for the writers - or at least enough to fill the (presumably) last two seasons with more meaningful stories than a boring rehash of the show's greatest hits. I do think they had a few good ideas here and there but the execution could have been much better. Like, I had high hopes for the work arc thingy with Shamy but that seemed to have kinda fizzled out a bit?? (Admittedly that feeling might have to do with not getting many spoilers or interviews this season so the road ahead is a lot less clear.) And the wedding preparations were just blatantly postponed until further notice so I don't expect anything to come out of that any time soon. (Not that I was particularly hell-bent on wedding preparation stories to begin with, mind you.) Maybe the 2nd half of the season will bring more momentum to the Shamy stories, Idk. 23 minutes ago, koops said: Personally, I really really enjoyed episodes 1 to 3 and then found 4 and 5 to fall kind of flat for different reasons, so I'm not even sure it's an issue with the change in showrunner as much as the age of the show. Judging by the summer interviews I got the feeling that Molaro was still very much involved in the first episodes before switching to YS full time and handing everything to Holland. Those first three episodes feel a lot more in line with S10 than the following three, if that makes any sense.
koops Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 I meant in terms of big moments or specific directions. There aren't that many huge milestones left to tackle at this point that you can steer characters in the direction of, other than babies (which they are obviously not keen on as writers unless they have to) and career. Again, I haven't seen this week's episode yet, but my issues with the previous two wasn't much to do with re-hashing of old plots because I didn't think that was the case (Howard and Sheldon bonding over his impending fatherhood 2.0 was new, for example; as were Howard and Amy working together), but because I found the jokes rather stale and unimaginative. And the whole plot about having a boy made me cringe at several points over gender stereotyping. So it's more about the execution than the plots or directions per se. I could be wrong but I think they are dragging out some things for happening in second part of the season as then , if s12 is the last one, they give closure to some events from characters lives, like Shamy wedding. However it would be better imo, if this is their plan , to have seasons with less episodes. It would not hurt as much shippers and non shippers get happy and not feeling a bit frustrated for the lack of plots creativity . To me it is unnecessary some situations they are writing for Shamy because the most wanted subject for shippers in kind of " frozen" and we are watching recycled plots. I wont stop watching it but there are viewers that work in other way and it is a risk for ratings though.

Well, in terms of Shamy you do have the wedding at the horizon and all the potential of general life planning that comes with it. And yes, career developments as well which they are kinda sorta tackling but it could have been done better with a more cohesive arc than what we got so far. (Maybe there'll be some episode in the future that'll tie everything together though?) 15 minutes ago, koops said: Again, I haven't seen this week's episode yet, but my issues with the previous two wasn't much to do with re-hashing of old plots because I didn't think that was the case (Howard and Sheldon bonding over his impending fatherhood 2.0 was new, for example; as were Howard and Amy working together), but because I found the jokes rather stale and unimaginative. That is pretty much exactly the issue I was getting at. I do like the episodes in theory. Like, the plot summary is fine for the most part. But then I see the final episode and it's a parade of old jokes nobody cares about anymore.

spidergirl Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 Shamy thoughts from last night episode: * I loved Amy in cold open. She never looses a chance of defending Sheldon when their friends cross the line about his feelings. I really like it! * Amy's facial expression as she seeked for lenny's reaction about Sheldon vid for PP role, Mayim is always brilliant in those moments, btw. Amy tried to be as most supportive she could but she knew Sheldon performance would sound a bit too much for others but her who understands him and his intentions/motivations. It is always great to feel how well Amy always understand Sheldon. They are really two peas on the pond <3 * Shamy sleeping scenes! I know the episode unfortunately had so litle about Shamy but their scenes as they are alone are always powerfull , even without dialogue. I loved how Amy's body was close to Sheldon's in first bed scene. Then it was so nice to see Sheldon's body turned to Amy's direction in second bed scene. These moments spoken volumes as they are so confortable to each other and so married! Love , love watching Shamy sleeping , they are always so in sync, even on bed time! <
