[Spoilers] Shamy: Season 11

I think it will be the season finale or, at most, with some sort of cliffhanger (hopefully  a "happy one") they will drag things up to S. 12 premiere. I don't expect the wedding to happen to far into S. 12, in any case...

There is one thing I would like to add to the discussion of “the matrimonial metric” other than I agree with all of you and liked the episode very much for various reasons.

The jokes and stories in the Big Bang Theory almost always have a “double layer”. Some sort of side story or hidden agenda. A gentle nudge of e.g. social topics. In this one I liked the idea that a Best Man could also be a Best Woman or a Maid of Honour could also be a Gentleman of Honour. I think mentioning this was cute although they followed their hearts by choosing Leonard and Penny in the end. Well done! 😊

Hello all. I have not posted recently but have kept up on all the posts. LOVING our couple and the entire show this season. I too believe wedding will be part of the cliffhanger. Just popping in with that opinion. Luv you all !

What does a flower girl do if she gets it right ? Serious question this time.

Walk down the aisle with the ring bearer usually, scattering rose petals. I've seen flower girl under 4 or 5 refuse to walk down the aisle, throw themselves down and scream, run down the aisle and crawl up under the altar, dump the basket in a pile onto the middle of the aisle floor and then run for their mom, and throw the basket at the ring bearer. But to be fair, they are dressed up in very fancy dresses most of the time that aren't comfortable to small kids. Here is one example:

Do you think with a Star Trek uniform under Sheldon's tuxedo, Amy in Sarah Jane's Pyramids of Mars dress, Wil Wheaton wearing goodness-knows-what, baby Mikey screaming his head off or Bernie breast feeding  to keep him quiet, Amy's cousins in frock coats as she arrives in a Little House on the Prairie buggy, anybody is going to care tuppence if Halley acts unconventionally ?

Do you honestly think we'll see any of that? Because I can't see them showing a single one of those things.

No. I'll be surprised if we see the wedding, let alone all those things. If we hear of them happening, I bet whatever Halley does won't seem out of place. I don't know what a ring-bearer is supposed to do. Doesn't the best man have the ring in his pocket ? In Frasier, a wedding had been planned thoroughly enough but the dog swallowed the ring and the groom's daughter-in-law went into labour at the vet's. The marriage ceremony was moved to there and took place in the presence of the youngest-ever guest before the ambulance came for mother and new grandson. (They named him David after the writer who'd been on one of the 9/11 planes) I can't imagine what the writers of the day will have in mind for us to see. They'll be wanting to top Frasier, I bet. I'm hoping somebody from the audience will give us a blow-by-blow TR and BTS so we can have a share in the hilarity.

The ring bearer is usually a young male who would walk up the aisle with the flower girl.  He would carry a decorated pillow with the wedding rings tied to the pillow which he would deliver to the best man.  They can be very cute in mini gowns and mini tuxes, but often (as stated before) a real wildcard as far as their behavior during the ceremony is concerned.

Not everyone has a flower girl or ring bearer. I didn't, I had a very small wedding where I only had a maid of honor and best man.  In my case the best man held onto the wedding rings.

I think that was in the days when only the bride received a wedding ring.

Nowadays, it's common practice for bride and groom to exchange rings, so who would keep hold of the ring, to be given by the bride, to the groom?

loved that Amy's afghan blanket is now draped over the couch in the living room in 4B.

I'd so much rather see a new couch. Jim looks ridiculous on that little couch and it was too involved in past plot points to suit Shamy. I'd love to see them go shopping for some new things since they are getting married and that couch would be at the top of the list to be left on the curb, where Sheldon used to think it would look best.

I was watching the last few “Young Sheldon” eps yesterday.  This show is actually pretty good - much better than I thought it would be.  But I noticed that Mee Maw is wearing a pretty diamond ring on her right hand.  Could this be the ring that eventually becomes Amy’s ring?

I've been wondering that, but I can't tell.  I need a bigger screen and they're not showing YS on TV here yet. I noticed she had taken her rings off her left hand. Is this a tradition with American widows ? if it is, why would she transfer only one of them to her right hand ? Why wouldn't she put it in a safe with any other keepsakes of her husband's  family  or with her wedding ring ?

In the US there is no one specific tradition.  Some bury their wedding ring with their spouse and transfer the engagement ring to their right hand.  Some continue to wear both rings. Some remove both rings and put them away for safe keeping.  It depends on the person.

How interesting. I've never heard of that. Perhaps that's what Constance did and then later gave the engagement ring to Mary to decide what to do with it. Perhaps  because her other grandchildren got married while she was still wearing it or perhaps Sheldon was Pop-pop's favourite. I wonder if we'll ever know ?

Hi guys just saw the press release for jan 18 episode sheldon rents his old room back for a quiet place to work what do you think of this are shamy fine

Of course Shamy are fine. 4B is very small. Renting an extra room as a study is the equivalent of a wife wantng a shed for her husband. Fear not.

Well, I do fear, a little. It could mean that Sheldon has found a new muse in work which could possibly lead him to his Nobel Prize.

This plot could postpone the wedding and could mean a minor or major crisis for Shamy. Sheldon is the kind of person to be putting work before love

I think if they'd written a  significant Shamy blip they'd be publicising it for all it was worth. If I've understood the schedule correctly, there's going to be a mini hiatus while some football is on, so they might have a pretend cliffhanger that will turn out to be a damp squib. Work is important to any responsible man getting married and thinking of starting a family, so Sheldon won't want to risk his job, so long as the writers remember he's supposed to be grown up now. I can't see the university letting him change his field yet again so that could be very unsettling for him. The Sheldon of a few years ago might well ditch everything for the sake of work. He even did it once. To Sheldon his physics is his identity so uncertainty might affect his behaviour but I don't think it will chase Amy away. If they do write a Shamy crisis  to scare us it will pass. They know they have to retain the audience.

Sorry but I disagree with you on this fear of yours. Sheldon is not the kind of scientist that would work better in a Muse(s) inspiration basis. The plot might be only about Penny giving a good advice as she helped him in past as Sheldon doubted about if String Theory was the ideal researching field for him. Penny and Sheldon are friends and the writers enjoy to explore the different friendship pairs. In end this storyplot would be ony for the show to get a  few good laughs from us, viewers, and to show more bonding for both as friends.

We have seen Sheldon changing/improving his interaction with the world and with others for his love for Amy but his personality as Scientist had not changed. He is only having a kind of work blocking. Amy and Sheldon are both scientists who never let their careers crossing their relationship. What was need for them involve and get commited to each other was they  grew in maturity and in commimtment fields. Both have their lives now balanced, imo there is not any danger of things went bad for them as couple. Besides men and women can have friends of other gender and interact with them without it be a dangerous thing for their romantic relationship. Sheldon had shown he has his priorities well setled now and that his feelings for Amy are strong and unconditional. Sheldon and Amy must have interests , anchievments and friends beyond their relationship. Personal happiness it is not only about love.

Fine with it as long as working and spending time in his old room doesn't make him suddenly pine for it again. He really shouldn't though, he's moved on.

He should disassemble the bed and take it back across the hall with him.

Could also be a nice place for Amy to work in if she ever needs to really focus on her work without Sheldon driving her crazy. I think it will be fine. I am surprised that Leonard is not using it as an office for writing his book. I guess that he does have the living room desk though...no worries here. Shamy are in a great place!

I think Sheldon really enjoys living and sharing the apartment with Amy. I don't think he will pine for it again either. I would be shocked if he did.

Happy that Sheldon is back to his first love, string theory, he seemed much happier while studying that topic than when working on Dark Matter. On the other hand, since Penny used a "break up" analogy to explain his feelings towards his work dilemmas, the only break up Sheldon experienced for real ended up with him and his lady back together, so...it makes sense! In the DT it's also said Sheldon rented his old room to be considerate to Amy. This also makes sense, it's for sure a better solution that kicking her out of the apartment (however gently) when he needs time to focus, LOL!

and she can encourage him to use it whenever she wants the place to herself.
