Did she, or did she simply not remember in the morning?

I think you're confusing the term "blackout" with "being unconscious". Being "blackout drunk" means that you're so drunk you don't remember the next morning.

Kissing, plural.

Kissing is a gerund, a verb that acts as a noun, but doesn’t have all of a noun’s properties, such as  singular or plural.  It indicates generalized or incomplete action.

Kiss (singular). Mandy said it was one kiss. Leonard's drunk memory, fueled by guilt said it was kissing. But it turns out is was only one kiss.

I may regret this....When Leonard said “there was kissing” I take it that he meant the act of engaging in a kiss with Mandy. That the kiss was long in duration (long enough for him to sense the smoke in her mouth; long enough to chip a tooth). We don’t know if that occurance of kissing was one kiss (singular) or several kisses (plural). I don’t mean to bring up what happened between seasons 6 and 7. I just wanted to address the singular/plural subject.

No duration of kiss is required to sense smoke. If you pass somebody in the street you know if they smoke or not. Chipping a tooth could happen with an unexpected lurch of the boat even if it was just a peck.

This is the non-season 11 discussion thread, so previous seasons are fair game here.   This is where we generally move extended discussions about things not in season 11.   So, you're good.

As far as the subject, Joyce's reply pretty much matches what I would have said.  Remember, gerunds are generalized actions, so different people could interpreted differently, which is why, absent a definitive description of the incident (although Mandy does say it was one kiss) different people may have different interpretations.

Well, Mandy was the definitive description since she was there. Leonard tends to fantasize   romanticize things so he saw the kiss as kisses thru his guilt. But again, Mandy was there and said it was one kiss.

Leonard’s worse critic is himself, he is so guilt driven most of the time, I could so see him blowing up the kiss with Mandy over the two years he kept it a secret.  He just has to confess everything he does, whether he is confessing stealing Stephanie from Howard or cheating on Priya to Penny, doing Penny’s homework to Sheldon, or even confessing his feelings to his mother, of all people, after Penny slept with Raj.  So with that need to confess for over two years it wouldn’t surprise me that he built up the kiss to something extremely terrible, years after it originally happened, when actually it was just a quick non-thinking kiss that he stopped when he realized what was happening.

Since the so called kiss was never seen, it was probably not worth mentioning. With his over active imagination, he probably saw Penny leaving him due to that kiss.

But Mandy was also so drunk at times she couldn't remember everyone she'd slept with. So I don't know how we can believe her 100% either. I just wish the whole thing would stop

Yea, I agree. A lot of fuss over someone's drunken memory. Just wished that the writers put it in 7/1. But I know it was hastily written in when Lenny was getting married to dampen their moods. Ridiculous is the word that comes to my mind when thinking about the writers.
