What the hell? I hope that was sarcasm...

Lamar Odom, who was found unconscious and unresponsive in a Nevada brothel this weekend, was moved to a LA hospital yesterday.  He is married, and was in the process of a divorce, with Khloe Kardashian.   They announced they were calling off the divorce, yesterday.   Interestingly as part of that divorce, they were forced to sell their house, which was bought by Kaley and Ryan.

Well, then their divorce proceedings took a long time, didn't they? Although I don't know when Kaley bought the house (I'm pretty sure they did it using her money ^^)

Yeah, their divorce was contested.  The house was bought last year.

ugh I don't understand the US laws tbh, while i'm in general not big on marriage, whenever i hear about the US marriage laws, i don't understand why rich people marry AT ALL!

It just seems so unfair how you can lose so much money (even if you win in court you still give so much to lawyers!). It is crazy...

And i think not only losing money is bad, but also realizing somebody you loved & trusted with all your heart is now hiring lawyers to get as much money from you as possible.. doesn't feel good : (

I hope Kaley's lawyers s are great and can protect her well.

Not the pain pills themselves since practically everbody on earth from a certain age has taken some in his/her life. But the addiction to them is surely a large factor. Also, he surely was pissed about his non-existent career and that doesn't make a happy hubby.

I certainly wasn't saying an occasional Pain Pill would cause marriage problems.

Actually, if what Tensor said about CAlifornia's spousal support law (1/2 the length of time of marriage), that's not bad AT all.

A friend's stepfather was still paying spousal support to his ex-wife 15 years after their divorce. The conditions on the support ruling were that if she found a job that could support her current bills, or if she re-married, support would stop. She was purposely working low salary jobs and despite being in another relationship, never married him because then the support would stop. They tried to take it back to court a few times, but the original ruling was upheld. This is in Canada...

The problem in America is we give judges too much power and too much latitude in interpreting the law.  When it comes to divorce that is particularly true, since it is a civil not criminal matter, and you can get some extremely wild and unfair rulings just because of a judges personal feelings.

The worse divorce case I have ever seen was a Captain in a unit next to mine.  His wife was a lesbian and she was having an affair behind his back then finally decided to divorce him and of course take their child.  The court awarded her more than his military take home pay and when his lawyer told the court that, the female judge told him to take a part time job.  Luckily he was an engineer, he left the military to get a higher paying civilian job so he wouldn't go to jail for failure to pay all the spousal support the court ordered.  And after he got the new civilian job she tried to take him to court to get more.  The guys biggest fault was he was too trusting.

hope Kaley doesn't get a wacko judge like that.

I don't get why someone would be ordered to pay more than he makes, that's simply crazy. Usually support (or alimony) is based on the earnings of the person has at the time...

you would think so and I thought the same thing, but then I saw this happen. That is why I said our judicial system is a disaster and you are never completely sure what a judge will do.  I hope this doesn't happen to Kaley, but there are a lot of people in this world that believe that the 'haves' should share their wealth with the 'have nots' and those people include judges, so when a judicial system doesn't tightly control those judges, anything can and does happen.

In Canada (and I'm guessing in the US too) spousal support (and child support) is based on the earning capacity of the individual, not necessarily what they are actually earning. The idea being that it's not ok for a parent to choose to be under-employed; the doctor can't suddenly decide not to work and spend his/her time as a ski bum. I've known several people who suddenly started earning far less once divorce was immanent, and the courts have things set up to protect kids as much as possible. Of course none of this applies with Kaleys situation as there are no kids (thankfully).

One last comment: what you (collective you), or I hear from someone re: the unfairness of a divorce settlement comes from one side, and that needs to be kept in mind. Ashley, the rule of thumb in Canada is spousal support lasts 1/2 length of marriage, unless various other factors apply (very young kids, people truly unable to support themselves such as thru illness, or "rule of 65" (persons age plus length of marriage equals 65). But my point is that we don't really know the full story. And people point blank lie to garner sympathy or make their ex look bad. What seems unfair may seem less so when you know both sides, or the full story.

IMO, Kaley should just pay off Ryan (like a year support), and clean break and get on with her life. Having things drag in court drains a person. With no kids they have no reason to continue any sort of relationship in future.

Not to pile on, but isn't Ryan's family wealthy? Also, when they were first married there was an auto purchased and some dopes online made comments about his wife making the purchase. He responded (on Twitter I think) that he had his own damn money....Ah well. Here I am putting in my two cents on this unhappy situation. Stay strong Kaley! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Kaley seems to be alright in a business sense, meaning she receives good advice. I would not be surprised to see her settle with a lump sum payment to Mr. S and get it put behind her quickly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I agree right now a lump sum pay off seems like a good option for her. Hopefully Ryan would do the decent thing and accept (particularly if the rumours about his addiction are true.) Then she can move on. And yes you're right about his Twitter comments about the car which Kaley brought him. He was obviously keen to assert that he wasn't a 'kept man'. I think you guys are right about the lump sum.  Kaley seems to want to get this over and move on with her life, and who can blame her, so as long as the payment is not some ridiculous amount, I could see her just giving him some money and ending it. Also remember, she was very much in love with this man, so even though their marriage didn't work, it doesn't mean she hates him, so she personally may have no problem giving him some money.

I am imagining there is more to this story than we will ever know. The pics of them on Instagram have been lessening throughout the year. I don't believe that the pain pill thing would be enough to completely break them up. We will never know of course, but one wonders...... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Besides a dull personality, pain pill addiction can cause ED. ED alone is enough to break up a Marriage of a sexually active women. As much as Kaley works out, she has to have a strong sexual appetite. That where Johnny G. comes to the rescue as friends with benefits.

Imagine the tabloid freakout if she accidentally posted a picture like this and there was Johnny's head sticking out from under the covers :icon_cheesygrin:

that would be a melt down.  But think about this, if you were her lawyers and business people, what would you be advising her right now?  I think 'Stay away from Johnny' would be part of their advice to Kaley.
