Guitars1964
Who is the goofball guy on stage announcing the winners? Could he have done a worse job? Not impressed with him. Can't they at least run through the names of the nominees before they go on stage so they don't screw up pronunciation of names? Geez... Glad Kaley won, though. Guitars1964
Who was that douche male presenter? Well, I took a mllder path and called him a "goofball" but I think we're on the same page with this guy. Frankly, in my view he telegraphed the message that he considered the awards meaningless and didn't even want to be there. Kaley deserved a better presenter than that. BlackWhiteRose
I seriously don`t know who that guy is who presented it. Don`t know why he pronounced Kaleys last name so wrong. Maybe he was trying to be funny but it didn`t work. The female presenter was alright. Anyway: Kaley was so sweet! Loved her speech!

I thought the guy announcing the winners was pretty bad too. He was so unprofessional, and if he was trying to be funny he failed miserably. I cannot believe that a person can be asked to announce awards like that and not know how to properly pronounce a name. I was happy to see Kaley win that award. As I have said before, she one of the best actresses that I have seen and one of the classiest.

I call BS that she gets one before the likes of Jim and or Johnny! Award winners. She had to have paid for it.
Tripper
The Hollywood Walk of Fame is split up by types of work, so you can get a star for Broadcast Television or a star for Film. There's also stars for music, radio and theatre, and some people have more than one type of star. Kaley Cuoco's star is for television. So it's in recognition of her work on The Big Bang Theory, 8 Simple Rules and also a season on Charmed. By my quick calculation, of the last eleven TV seasons Kaley has been starring in a TV show for ten of those, which is quite impressive. Perhaps Jim Parsons hasn't quite had enough of a career on TV, since he's more involved in theatre and film, to really qualify for a TV star. Johnny Galecki not having a TV star is strange though, considering he also starred on Roseanne for a long time. The Walk of Fame has an interesting nominations process to say the least: Each year an average of 200 nominations are submitted to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Walk of Fame Selection Committee. Anyone, including fans, can nominate anyone active in the field of entertainment as long as the nominee or his or her management approves the nomination (a letter of agreement from the nominated celebrity or representative must accompany the application). Nominees must have a minimum of five years' experience in the category for which they are nominated and a history of "charitable contributions".[67] Posthumous nominees must have been deceased at least five years. At a meeting each June, the committee selects approximately 20 celebrities to receive stars on the Walk of Fame during the following year. One posthumous award is given each year as well. The nominations of those not selected are rolled over to the following year for reconsideration; those not selected two years in a row are dropped, and must be renominated to receive further consideration. Living recipients must agree to personally attend a presentation ceremony within five years of selection. A relative of deceased recipients must attend posthumous presentations. Presentation ceremonies are open to the public.[4] A fee ($30,000 as of 2012),[4] payable at time of selection, is collected to pay for the creation and installation of the star, as well as general maintenance of the Walk of Fame. The fee is usually paid by the nominating organization, which may be a fan club, or a film studio, record company, broadcaster, or other sponsor involved with the prospective honoree.[21][120] The Starz cable network, for example, paid for Dennis Hopper's star as part of the promotion for its series Crash. It was unveiled in March 2010, shortly before Hopper's death.[21][121] Numerous major entertainment figures and legendary show business acts are not included on the Walk of Fame for a variety of reasons. Some, such as Julia Roberts[25][122] and Clint Eastwood,[122] have declined to participate; nominations cannot proceed without the nominee's consent. Others, such as George Clooney[123] and John Denver,[26] were nominated but would not agree to the mandatory personal appearance at the unveiling ceremony. Others have simply never been nominated, or do not have a nominator willing or able to pay the selection fee, or have less than the required five years' minimum involvement in their designated field. Others are merely victims of selection constraints and probability; only about 10% of nominees are selected each year. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollywood_walk_of_fame
Guitars1964
I read the same Wiki info, and it is interesting. Not to take anything away from Kaley, but if the Wiki explanation is correct, it sounds as if, as long as certain criteria are met, anyone, including the studio, could nominate and submit the selection fee, which may "enhance" the chances of being voted in. As Tripper quoted, the Wiki article also indicated that some nominated stars have declined to participate (as apparently a personal appearance at the unveiling is required). So the process isn't entirely independent of the artist or entertainment person's organization. In my opinion, at this time, Kaley is arguably the biggest star of the show - she is starring in a soon-to-be-released movie, she has a pretty lengthy acting resume, and the Priceline and Toyota ad campaigns both affirm and reinforce her awareness with the public. She's hosted at least one or two award shows. And, not for nothing, she is a beautiful actress. I'd bet if you ask a group of people generally aware of TV shows, etc. who Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons are, more of them would know Kaley Cuoco by name at this point than the other two. Notwithstanding, I'm happy for her. She's really hitting the big time now. It will be interesting to see if she can translate to the Big Screen and whether and to what degree she takes that to dramatic roles as opposed to comedic roles. Shel_Ra_Ho_Le
If all that is true than Johnny deserves a star more than Kaley since he's been in the business longer and he's won more awards. What a lame process and sadly the WOF is meaningless these days because its too easy for a 'celebrity' to get a star.
SRAM
I think Kaley deserves a star and Johnny deserves a star, I can see why Kaley is getting hers first though, her career has really taken off the last couple of years, she is getting to be well known. She has a movie coming out and that may lead to more movies for her, so she is really making it big. Johnny has done and is doing some great stuff and deserves a star, but his career is not taking off like Kaley's is, it has been more in a steady mode, so that is why she has all the attention. Jim has one big show under his belt, he may be only a one show wonder, it has happened in many TV shows, so I think it will take more time and more other work before he is considered for a star. Another thing about Kaley, she is the main reason the show ever made it on air, in the first place. The pilot with Katie, was a non starter and it wasn't till Kaley was put in that the show, that it was even considered for prime time. You could say that if it wasn't Kaley, there would be no TBBT. That's a bit of a simplistic take on the matter. While Kaley was certainly an integral reason as to why TBBT worked the second time around, I wouldn't say that she was the main reason that the show made it on the air. You could also attribute it to the addition of Simon and Kunal, the change of writing, tone and pace. But I can understand why she is getting the star before any of the other cast members. She has been on a series of successful comedy shows. She has hosted three award ceremonies, she has two widely publicized national ad campaigns, in addition to presenting at numerous award ceremonies over the past few months. So basically she is everywhere at the moment. In comparison, Johnny and Jim are far less in the public sphere.
