and as to my perception on whether she is a colder character have a look at CBS TBBT on facebook there are quite a good number who feel the same as I do.

theres a sizeable number of people on the internet (including Facebook) that accuse the show of using a laugh track (something that can factually be proven wrong BTW).  Are all those people right about that as well?

that is irrelevant the fact is that many people have commented on the fact that Penny's character has become colder. whether some people find this as amusing is neither here or there. it is StILL people giving their own opinions.

You tried to use the opinions of others as a validation for your contention that the character is colder.   Meka's very relevant example of a group on the internet, making comments  that are demonstrably wrong, show that just because it's an opinion on the internet, doesn't mean it's right, even if that opinion agrees with yours.

I believe that during the writer's panel it was clear that the writers/EPs and actors do work together to make sure that the characters are reflecting what the writers want.   I am sure that includes however Kaley is portraying her character.   I doubt that if she is "giving off" some sort of "cold" feel, and they thought it was coming across that way and they didn't want that, that the scene would not have been redone.   I am not saying they want her giving off that feel, but perhaps the perception is fans being upset with the writing in general so they are placing the blame in the wrong place.   They just may be frustrated with the way the storyline has gone or not gone and so think it is the actresses fault when I will have to respectfully disagree.

Many of us warned avid Lenny fans that if you get them engaged in S7 or too early, that they would likely go back burner or give them non-Lenny stories to help drag things out since there were more seasons likely coming.   Of course at the time, we were shot down for having such comments and now it seems that everyone feels they did get engaged too early.   I think you have to be careful what you wish for with your characters and think through the long-term situation.

For example, I warn the Shamy fans the same thing right now....just in case the show goes 11 or 12 seasons instead of 10...it may be too early to get engaged.   As the season progresses and ratings numbers start to show the strength of Season 9 (whether they are starting to lose viewers), I think then they can review the situation.  But right now, it is far too early in the game to know how many seasons they will go and what lies ahead.   Guess time will reveal all.

But my point is, I don't think Penny has been colder toward Leonard, but the writers were turning on the "slow down brakes" on the couple so they would not marry too early in the grand scheme of things.

It is a challenging situation.  I mean on the one hand they know where they want to get to by series finale, but on the other hand, you don't know when series finale may come.  They clearly benefit by the show continuing on a air (good paychecks coming in), but at the same time it is hard to drag things out when you are trying to extend to meet the still high demand of viewers, nor do you want to outlive your welcome like some shows have done.  Tough calls on that one!

I credit them for still coming up with relatively interesting stories each week and good entertainment, despite the wishes of fans that continue to badger them.

I don't think their writing is "awful" but I do think that the show has outgrown the original premise and almost needs to refresh itself with an updated premise and possibly some new direction in order to bring back some life into it.   The problem with most sitcoms is that their premise is pretty limited and gets tiring over time.   It has to be pretty open in order to continue with good stories.   In this case, the bombshell blond neighbor was eventually going to mature and change over time, just like the guys were supposed to change over time according to their premise.   So now that they have evolved, the original premise makes no sense.   The only piece that still they can retain is the part of them being geniuses and Penny the non-genius.   But even she has matured and secured a high-yielding job yet was not really re-purposed.   We are seeing the side effects of that.

Hopefully adding new family dynamics and other things will help them this coming season.

I have to disagree with this Melody.  What exactly do more seasons have to do with dragging things out?  Why do they have to drag things out?  This makes it sound as if the writers are incapable of writing Lenny (and if your warning of Shmay is correct, them also) married or together.  I expect more of the writers based on their previous work.

That is why I had the follow-on post about the premise change.  Given the current premise, they are running into a problem with that.   They need to revamp the premise of the show as all the characters have outgrown the original premise.   They can still be extraordinary people and all of that, but the original premise was learning to develop relationships and social circle.  They have done that now....so by changing the premise, they can stretch into young marrieds storylines and the challenges related to that.   I agree, they should be able to write for married couples, but given what they have done with the one married couple they do have on the show, my feeling is that they have not given a proven track record on writing interesting "married couple" story.   However, if they know that is what their premise is going to be, I have no doubt they are fully capable of writing for them...just their mindset isn't there because it is still on the original premise.

Mrs. Sweeting's hair is really growing out. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Yes it is.  I wonder if she will have to cut it or make her wear a wig since they pick up just a couple of hours after where they left off according to the Comic-Con panel interviews (Molaro's statement).   So seems like they have to deal with any changes that any of the cast may have made to themselves over the summer.  It will be interesting to see how they do that.

If they do a scene change, them in a room instead of the car, she could have her hair tied up, like she was going to bed or something.  I hope she lets it grow out for the Penny character she plays.

Please say this means Kaley well bring back her longer hair. I know with the production, its impossible when the season starts. But maybe half way through the season, say an episode where Penny get's extensions haha.

Well as the premiere will be set just a few hours after the s8 final they will have to go with continuality, I like her hair short anyway

Hey Rachel miss me haha. I agree clearly they need to go with continuity. So it is not realistic. I like her short hair too, I think it looks cute on her. But the guy in me needs that long hair fix haha.
