Waldob87 Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 I think since the Roseanne show has a big influence on TBBT that Roseanne and John Goodman should play Amy's parents. Invite Leslie and Sheldons mom to the wedding with Leonard and maybe the older daughter could play Amy's sister and the whole Roseanne cast would be together again. Tensor Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Roseanne and Chuck Lorre don't get alone very well, since she fired him from Roseanne. So, this isn't very likely. Inviting Sheldon's mom makes sense, after all he's getting married, but I can't see why they would invite Leslie.
Kev0821 Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 I would love to see Sara Gilbert recur more often! As for Leslie Winkle making an appearance at the wedding, she did return for the 200th episode to celebrate Sheldon's birthday. I know that appearance was probably more for the series' milestone, but you would think that since they were enemies, she wouldn't have attended. Still, she acknowledged that they both matured a lot, so I wouldn't rule out a potential appearance at the reception. Learning more about Amy's back story would be neat, as well. bfm Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 They already had an actress playing Amy's mom in season 4 but I wouldn't be surprised at all of they cast another one.
spidergirl Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 I did not follow Roseanne but regards Amy's family, I hope at least we could meet her parents. It would give a bit from Amy's background which I think it would be nice as she is close to become Sheldon's fiancée.
bfm Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 I want to know more about her father. She never mentioned him. In fact, if I'm not wrong we only heard about her mother, grandmother and some aunt.

Yes, never a single word about her father (there was one line in S10 that kinda sorta could've been something but in the end mostly played out as a joke about daddy issues or something so I don't count it) but plenty of anecdotes about the terrible childhood with her mother, some mentions of grandparents, aunts and cousins. It's weird that her father is left out like this. I guess the easiest answer to that could be that she grew up with a single mom and that's it. But even then I'd like to know if her father is dead or just left her mom and if so when and if that maybe contributed to the weird way she was raised??? I think that could make a great story. As it currently stands I think he's out of the picture dead or alive but they do have a blank canvas, they have been so vague to date that you could see her mother turn up with her dad and what little we know is replaced. Based on what little we know as it stands I'm of the belief that something happened to Amy's mother to do with Amy's father and as a result she brought up Amy the way she did at times. Perhaps overprotective and strict, trying to protect her daughter from the outside world and shield her perhaps from making some of the same mistakes that she did. But I think it's also possible as Amy got older that she became less like that, for example we know as it's canon her mother encouraged Amy to date at least once a year. Now a strict, controlling perhaps over protective mother wouldn't do that you would think. It will be fascinating to see what they might do, I mean they may do nothing lol. We may never see her mother again on the show. Edited July 15, 2017 by Jonny

She was disinterested in dating and the whole idea of relationships. I took her arrangement with her mother at face value; just her mother trying to get her to at least try to have a personal relationship with another person. As Amy's character evolved the writers turned her mom into the person we now perceive her to be.

In her own words:- I find the notion of romantic love to be an unnecessary cultural construct that adds no value to human relationships.
