[Spoiler Free] Shamy: Season 11

I am no longer very active in this forum and that will likely not change, but I cannot sit by without setting up this topic. 

 

This places is for Spoiler Free comments on Shamy. No spoilers including interviews, promos, taping reports, etc.. are allowed.

I will be less active on this forum, too, well, I've never been too much active anyway.

I love reading some fans' posts here, very insightful and funny, and I just admire their analytical skills, just amazing. Oh, I even learned some idiomatic English, that was so good.

This is a nice thread for speculation of Shamy, thank you. And I noticed your avatar, I don't recall seeing it in the show, do you know which episode was it?

It was a promo pic from The Expedition Approximation, unfortunately the scene didn't make the cut and was edited from the aired episode.

Yes it was from a promo pic that ended up being from a scene that was cut. I used to have a lot of fun analyzing promo pics and coming up with scenarios for the image. I have always been obsessed with Shamy hugs and I always tried to put together ways in which we could get a Sheldon initiated hug. 

My scenario for this promo pic was that something spooked Amy and she threw her arms around him cause she was scared. Sheldon made fun of her for it based on his expression in the photo. Then a minute or so later, Sheldon would get spooked by something and he would throw his arms around her because he was scared. 

Not sure if that made sense. lol. Being spoiler free usually meant I did a lot of speculating and making up fun scenarios in my head.

Speaking of promo pics - how spoiler free do you guys plan to be? Just TRs or also pictures and clips?

It made sense indeed. Speculation is always fun and surely you guessed well from a few pics.

I admire you all as you wait for watching the episode being unspoiled. Some scenes may be more enjoyed as they were a surprise. As soon as I know I can get spoilers my anxiety beats me, hehe.  Hope you can be around for some nice talks after episode aired. Go shamy!

I won't go seeking out promo pictures or clips, but I have done so in the past. I also won't actively avoid seeing them, certain strategies I used to employ such as unfollowing facebook and instagram friends. It's easier now that I am not as obsessed with the show as I was in the past. 

 

That being said, I do have the advantage of going to the premiere taping this season, so I definitely have it easier than others.

I used to love watching the promos and looking at promo pictures and speculating, but lately they have been giving too much away. I avoided them as much as I could the last few episodes of season 10. I plan to do the same for seasons 11 and 12.

The times I have looked at TRs, I've been upset with myself afterwards because when it airs, I know what's going to happen. I enjoy being surprised.

I also haven't been much active for the last... 2 years, I guess. I always like to read the comments here, sometimes I see spoilers and then I end up reading the spoilers threads... but I prefer to watch the episodes without spoilers.

I don't comment much, I just read, but I'll do my best to participate from time to time in this topic. ;-)

It won't be easy, but I've done it before. I have a great group of spoiler-free friends who I can rely on to help me avoid the temptation of peeking. Less time on social media also means more time to write fanfiction.

I'm back again. Still totally spoiler-free, I know nothing at all about the new season, not even the title of the new episode. Quite easy since I live in Germany. Happy new-episode-day!

Happy S11 premiere!! The day has finally come!!!

Now that the episode has aired, I can talk about something that has irked me since the taping. I feel like the whole point of the Romona kiss was it sparked a spontaneous response from Sheldon to stop everything and go straight to Amy. I mean the finale last season showed Sheldon getting into a cab, purchasing a ticket, getting on a plane, and then going to her Princeton apartment and proposing. Now we are supposed to understand that somewhere between all this he went home got on his computer and skyped Stephen Hawking and found time to call her dad? If he went home, then why didn't he pack an overnight bag? I waited until after the episode aired because I wanted to make sure that Sheldon was wearing the same clothes while he is skyping Stephen Hawking. I would have preferred for Sheldon to have been in different clothes while skyping him, this would have given me the illusion that Sheldon spoke to Hawking and Amy's father weeks prior the his spontaneous need to propose. I know in retrospect, this is just a small thing. I just feel like this undermines how the end of last season went and I don't like it. This is just my opinion and I would love to hear others. 

 

But on another note, how amazing is it that we finally get confirmation that Amy's father exists? Hope we can meet him soon as they make plans for the wedding.

Wasn't a fan of the Season 10 finale and the Ramona element at all especially when I thought I saw clear signs they were ready to move to the next stage of their relationship during Season 10 so why have her as a factor? Still not a fan of her involvement but the show decided to go with that angle, not something I would have personally done especially as a Shamy shipper but there you go and it seems to have gone down well with casuals who make up a large chunk of the audience and keep it on air.

Mixed feelings on the Ramona hug and thank-you, it's kind of in character that Amy might do that because often throughout the years Amy has shown for her sometimes just getting something matters more to her than how it happened. Think of a lot of the relationship progress where Amy and Sheldon fell out and Sheldon eventually caved in but sometimes reluctantly, she often accepted it because it was progress. I think there some element of that here, I don't think Amy is happy with Ramona but Amy won, she doesn't have a boyfriend now she has a fiance. I think she just weighs everything up, pro's and cons, all factors and that what decides her actions and response. I think Sheldon telling Amy that her lips are the only lips he ever wants to kiss for the rest of his life was a factor in her thought process.

In terms of Amy's family fingers crossed we do eventually see them, If we saw Bernie's parents I see no reason why we shouldn't see Amy's. I think now that they are engaged it could be a good time to introduce them before an eventual wedding.

Yes, that was one of the things bugging me, too! It could have easily been fixed like you suggested: Sheldon made those calls earlier cause he thought about giving her the ring for some time, then Princeton got in the way and then the spontaneous proposal was triggered by the Ramona incident. Would have made perfect sense and wouldn't have dragged the scene out or anything.

All in all I really enjoyed the episode. It's just the little things where I sometimes get really nitpicky when they could be solved more elegantly.

If this is the worst retcon we get all season consider yourself lucky. They probably had Sheldon thinking that if he proposes and she says yes, he's done and can come home, just like he indicated. We already knew he had the ring.

I agree lets hope this ends up being my biggest issue with season 11. 

Now, on to wedding planning, I sure hope we get to see lots of planning. I wonder what kind of theme they will do and how big the wedding will be. I would like to see them get married in this season's finale, but I am not sure if that would happen.
