last good quality new Sitcom. Obviously, you can't expect a show to stay good for 11 seasons,  (Cheers is a show that comes to mind who got better d every year and was still a great show when it ended. It was still top quality show in it 11th season something that hard t do! Seinfeld was also still great Show in it last Season) and as you said it has declined over last few seasons but still better than anything else on today. though I do think the decline has to do with other things as well beside it becoming the Sheldon show. which you make some good points with explaining that decline. Yes it still Number 1 sitcom but it not getting the 20 Million Viewers it said a few years ago

Average viewership during the 2016 calendar year (live + 7) was 19,938,000 according to the Nielson.

Two things with those numbers. One live + 7 is sort of a hokey iMO.  Two generally the numbers were lower in the second half of 2016. They were even lower the first half of 2017.

Average viewership over a 12 month period which includes same day plus DVR viewing with 7 days.

I'm a little bit curious, if I watch the show one hundred times in 7 days, does the (live +7) count it as one viewer or as one hundred viewers.

I sooo agree with this.  Lost my v-card to another virgin, and I could identify with a lot of the feelings expressed by the apprehensive couple.  IMHO, the subject matter was well handled.

From what I can tell, no.  The Nielsen box tracks if you watch live, if you watch with 3 days or if you watch within 7 days.  After your first view in one of those timeframes it doesn't track additional views.

Because MTM held onto their product more tightly doesn't mean anything.
The Beatles were the LAST major performer to appear on CD.  So what?
Over and out.

Has nothing to do with with them holding on to product ‘more tightly’ it was because The Show had poor sales when it first release on DVD.. When a Show does poorly in DVD Sales a company will usually not release anymore Seasons on DVD.

It could just be it wasn’t promoted as well as TC.

JMO, between episode 4 with Leonard's mother and this one about a parenting book (even though it is skewered toward Sheldon) maybe they are planting some seeds for a possible LENNY story arc for trying to conceive.........just an optimistic shot in the dark!

I hope not.

No, most would NOT agree. I actually don't agree with anything you say in your post.

I agree with that post and disagree with you. of course I'm 62 and saw all of those shows new.

You hope they don't conceive? Well that is unavoidable. It is inevitable that Lenny well prob get pregnant before series end. Season 12 well prob as far as Lenny goes. A Story Arch for them trying to get pregnant.

As far as signs this season. Penny had Bernadette's book. And now Lenny have a parenting book, which is skewed to Sheldon. But they have always written Sheldon as a big baby in regards to Lenny. So they could be planting the seeds in regards to a possible Penny Pregnancy scare in the Season 11 Finalie.

I think they are saving a Lenny Pregnancy for Season 12. Penny gives birth in the Final Episode and they move away when Leonard get a Job offer.

It should have ended in Season 7.

From my perspective that can't be true. If I thought it were true I would never have seen that comment. This is the only sitcom forum I have ever visited more than a handful of times. I do have a new favorite show but it is not a sitcom and I can only watch it on Netflix. Actually I think for a show in the 11th season TBBT is doing very well. I don't think I have every watched so many seasons of a sitcom.

Are you saying the show should of not ended three seasons ago. Because your seeing the comment you quoted? Huh lol. I think he is speaking theoretically. That is like saying "The Big Bang Theory" diddn't happen, or Moses did not part the Red Sea. Because I diddn't see it :icon_cheesygrin:

For a show in its 11th season its watchable. From a conventional sense, it is fine. But I Think some just miss the uniqueness the show had. In any case my personal point of view is. The series stopped being "The Big Bang Theory" Season 7 Finalie. When Leonard and Penny left Sheldon at the Train Station. For me anyway, since then it has been "Sheldon Cooper's Adventures and his Friends".

Reminds me of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthropic_principle

If I thought it should have ended in season 7 I would stop watching and I certainly would not be going to a forum of a show I no longer care for. There may be stinker episodes here and there but there are also inevitably people who gush over the ones I think are stinkers. Episode 9.11 is among my favorites. I like the way TBBT connects to stuff outside of TBBT. I care little about the ships.

By the way my new favorite series is Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. "Everything is connected". No ships. :icon_wink:

Actually I'm with MTBigBangTheory Fan on this one. TBBT should have ended in S7. After that it was all down hill (IMO, of course).

That's fine. I don't know what your age has to do with your opinion, but OK. I'm 54 and saw most, if not all of those shows new. However I can't say that I liked all of them or that they were noticeably superior to what we have now. Some were, some weren't. If we don't limit ourselves to sit coms I have to say that there are much better dramatic shows now than then, IMO.

Never watched Three's Company. At least I can't remember. Maybe as a child in the 80's.

I watched a few seasons of it. I liked it at the time (1970s). Had Little time for TV in the 80s. They have had it on ME TV on my cable recently. It was a product of its time and is completely out of place in today's culture. Doubt it could fly today and TBBT would not have been allowed in prime time then.

I wonder if we might get an episode where shamy has a fight and sheldon trys to move back in with lenny

We won't. If they wanted to do a story like that they had plenty of opportunities last season where Shamy did actually struggle with living together. It's not like they never had any fights but moving back in with Lenny was never in the picture.

Heck, we didn't even get a joke about Sheldon missing his spot or when Amy was away we didn't get Sheldon wanting to go back to 4A because he was lonely or something. So don't worry, Lenny and their kitchen island are safe from Sheldon in 4A.

I don't think so, if we look back at previous season I'm guessing sadly that it will be Lenny who does the fighting.
