I'm glad they're getting to branch off in their own storylines, but a part of me (a small part that exists for no other part of life) needs to see them be a couple too. Not all the time, obviously, maybe I'm too tired I dunno.

Raj is just a waste of space by this point,

Lighter note, taping tomorrow, here's hoping we get some good information!

I don't think they are doing a very good job of branching off to their own stories. Sheldon's entire plot was whining about Amy working too much. Maybe “needy” Sheldon is romantic for some (??), but I just can’t see the appeal. The problem is that they have so many characters that they don't know what to do with everyone.

There are many productive and funny ways to write a character. Sheldon played 3-person chess, he read periodicals and listened to Feynman lectures at the same time, he tried to learn Finnish, he enjoyed discussing Flatlands for fun and bred luminous fish night lights when he was out of work. I’m sure there are more examples. Sheldon was capable of having an independent set of hobbies and allocation of his alone-time.So it is a bit lazy/regressing to see , an educated physicist has nothing better to do than petty revenge.  Not even number crunching  or running simulations  on his laptop for his own work ?? I wouldn't say it is "dumbing down" precisely, but it shows to me a lack of creativity and effort towards writing something new for a character like him.

In the end, I just thought both Raj and Sheldon were a waste of space in 11.05 and I don't think the writers are putting effort in the details or intricacies enough to write something positive , productive and different for them, in season 11.

The writers need to think about something work-related for Sheldon to do, and fast.

Seems to me he got too much spare time and hasn't put them to good use.

In 1105, everyone except him (and Raj) was busy, even Penny was reading a book.

And in 1022, he was worried that he might run out of time on winning a Nobel Prize because he was nearly 40.

But on Saturday, he chose to watch a movie with Raj.

Nobel Prize...Are you kidding me?

Judging by Holland's interviews a little while ago this is pretty much the point. He described it as a story arc and so far they've been following the premise that Sheldon's job situation is in a rut (all the while Amy's career is taking off, adding some extra pressure) and he has a hard time dealing with it week after week. Of course story arcs can be frustrating when you don't know how and where this will end but so far there seems to be enough consistency that I think it's still just work in progress and the writers will get there.

We know in the next two episodes he'll try out this PP thing and something with geology again. And who knows what will happen in tonight's taping?

I'm glad Amy's science side is getting attention, but honestly after tonight I need some Shamy goodness (the episode was still funny) the innuendo scene was funny though. I'm glad they're getting to branch off in their own storylines, but a part of me (a small part that exists for no other part of life) needs to see them be a couple too.

The innuendo scene was well played. I love Shamy but I do not need to see it all the time.

Loved her comment in response to Howard referring to Sheldon as a robot.

Oh, gosh, yes. She's gotten to where she can take a joke for what it is and even play back with it. I like that.

Yes, you are right. I remembered this interview.

I just hope in the end the writers would write something good AND work-related good for Sheldon.

PS: The next two episodes, I'm not worried about 1106, the PP thing, but, 1107, something with geology...Oh, well, I hope it wouldn't end up like 1009.

Hope for something good in 1108 though.

I would like more if Amy win a nobel price and not Sheldon. We could see how the couple deal with it. It can be the final step for Sheldon, I mean that he can realice that Amy is really important for him and that he is happy for her. He already know that Amy is important but a detail is good haha.

And then Amy can help Sheldon to choose a better field, and the sitcom can end with a call to Sheldon: "you won the nobel, too".

Hahaha.

Hope that you understand me good because Im from Spain ?

About Sheldon's career I'm not sure if it's resolution would be making some big discovery, at least not initially. I think it could be more of a personal development, learning to deal with others' success, regardless of his own situation.

I think he has a long way to go in regards to acceptance of the success of others.....

That's where I'm at as well. I think this arc is mostly about personal development and that's also why it takes so long. Sheldon being an arrogant prick about his job/science has been one of his most defining characteristics and if they're trying to tackle that you can't just change him in one or two episodes. We'll have to wait and see how this plays out but so far they seem to be in the "it only gets worse before it gets better" phase. At some point he'll probably get his shit together and things will move forward.

And no, no Nobels for anyone any time soon. lol

because other characters are perfect and don't need personal development ? Only Sheldon ?  frankly it gets boring with making everything about Sheldon's issues. They were writing him  better in season 10, so I'm not on board with  them regressing him...just so they can justify this overlong arc.   The other characters have different issues too, yet we don't see an even distribution of  episodes where any of them learn a lesson or something.   which means it would be a better idea for me to just watch the "better" parts that come after the "worse" as the worse parts are neither funny, interesting nor anything new.

I clearly don't think that was at all what April was saying.

Look Holland said before the season that Sheldon had this career/unhappiness arc (citing an article about different science fields advancing a lot more than others, namely Amy's field) going on and even though I haven't been happy with how it's been portrayed in most episodes so far and I have zero clue what the conclusion or resolution to this is going to be this hasn't come from nowhere. It's hard at times to see what I have seen so far this season, I am just hoping there is some nice reward at the end of it. If there isn't...

And you know why most stories are focused are on Sheldon, the screen time stats, the awards and the most iconic and recognizable character on the show. There are times when I wish they would change it up (for example when it comes to Shamy have Amy being the one who has to change or move on something, have Sheldon playing a more supportive role) but let's be realists here.

Yep.

I don't know where that insistence comes from that just because I'm talking about one part of the show it means I'm automatically saying xyz about another part. jeez.

Anyway, yes, of course I would love to see similar story arcs for other characters! I've been clamouring for that for ages precisely because I see the others as similarly flawed and there'd be plenty of opportunities to teach them a life lesson or two. I don't mind the general idea of having Sheldon work on this attitude in the job but I'd trade it in a heartbeat to finally give Lenny or Raj something interesting to do (though Lenny at least seem to have a bit of a baby theme this season).

Screen time stats can be deceptive. He had the most last week but he wasn't really a main storyline. The awards have also appeared to have dried up. I think iconic is starting to change from is to was.

Really enjoyed this episode, as did my daughter. We were both laughing.

Actually, I did too. I liked this episode. If nothing else the unusual pairing of Howard and Amy was nicely done. The only little thing I didn't like is that Lenny caved to Sheldon and told him about the book. They should at least had the fortitude to not tell him, but that's just a nitpick.

I still think the book was just another seed plant, for a Lenny pregnancy.

I agree on this, too many clues in too many episodes, they are getting the audience accustomed to the idea of a Lenny's baby.  My guess would be by the end of this season, but I wouldn't be surprised if that happens sooner.
