Well, when I examine the totality of the statements made by Sheldon, my overall assessment is that he is generally less credible than those around him.

His whackiness is the basis of the show. It’s not like his schtick is about speaking truth to power. To some degree his role is to say those things said by drunk uncles at family gatherings  - to get a laugh in the context of the show.

As to prophetic powers - who knows. But Sheldon’s opinions - which is what he was expressing at the time - are generally and by design completely whack.

As evidence I refer you to.... the show. Pick any episode for examples. :)

Edit: carve out physics. That’s not opinion.

Example: he thought there is no way Lenny will ever get together.

Might be because Leonard's comment was brought up again (by someone other than Leonard, and in a way that suggested it's been brought up, off camera by Leonard more than that one time), and Sheldon's comment hasn't been brought up again.

You must have more faith in the writers than I do.

Well... but solving Penny's employment situation is waaaaaaaaaaaaay simpler than filming in a new apartment building, and therefore changing all the sets.

They could redecorate. Or Penny could help Amy redecorate. Shamy needs a bigger couch or bed at least. I hate seeing them on that old couch.

Yes! As a Penny (and Leonard) addict, actually it kills my mood any time I have to see this. It's always difficult for me to let go of things and holy memories which it's already history...

I think it needs to go as well, but I'm kind of curious in terms of the thought process of Lennies and what would you do with it? Would you be happy to see it completely gone? Or is it seen as another iconic piece of furniture on the set and has to be seen somewhere?

I always thought that maybe if they actually had turned Sheldon's old room into a gaming room it could go in there as something for them to sit on. But with a child possibly on the way at some point  and if they actually have a child before the show ends I don't think that would happen, it would become a nursery and I don't think that couch would match it.

I think the discussion is fairly moot really as I have zero expectations that they will change it.

Maybe I should ask a psychologist for advice. :icon_cheesygrin:

Actually, I don't have all that much faith in the writers.  But, I'm not sure what having more faith in the writers has to do with any of this.  You asked why someone might put more credence in Leonard's comment than Sheldon's.   It's simply a fact that Leonard's comment has more to back it up, than Sheldon's.

I think each of their quotes/comments reveal much about their respective characters and is true to who they were in the early days of the series. Leonard’s comment was positive and full of hope. Sheldon’s was more cynical....(my thoughts only...).

Sorry I have to defend Sheldon here. I think he understands either sarcasm nor cynicism. :shy:

But they are the ones who decided to stay in Penny's old apartment. I don't think Amy's old apartment was much bigger, was it? I believe the living situations/quarters are just a mere manifestation of the show to build new sets or even in some case re-dress old ones. In the case of 4 A, I most definitely think that they should have, at least,  gotten the dining table from "The table polarization" episode. Furthermore, I would be delighted it they showed Lenny's bedroom again with much less of a Penny influence. Last time I saw it, it was, IMO, skewed too much in  Penny's direction. Finally, I would love to see Sheldon's old bedroom converted to a playroom in which both Leonard and Penny could share fun activities. No, not that! they already have the rest of the apartment to frolic in. Perhaps Leonard could have all his nerdy trinkets there proudly on display. Penny could have Nebraska Cornhuskers paraphernalia, etc.

While I know it will never be done, I wouldn't mind getting a different living room arrangement (sofa, seat, coffee table, TV). I can dream, can I not?

Oh yes, we all have also some particular opinions on that. :shy:

Of course! With your post, you put more than one finger in some wounds. Seriously, thank you.

It would indeed be nice with a new living room arrangement in 4A, but as you said it will sadly probably never happen. I would also want to see Lenny's bedroom again and with some nice bedroom scene between Leonard and Penny but again I don't think this will happen. It is really funny to me that Penny decorated the bedroom the way she did because her old bedroom in 4B doesn't look anything like the new bedroom in 4A and I'm guessing that Sheldon's old bedroom will be a nursery for the future Lenny baby or babies.

I think the blue couch could go in a nursery, something to sit on when feeding or watching the baby... Or if/when they buy a house they could have it there. Anyway there's no baby and no house anytime soon so this is all moot...

We can't throw out that iconic piece of furniture, it is as holy as the kitchen island for us Lennies. :icon_cheesygrin:

I wasn't thinking of throwing the couch away. I'm just uncomfortable watching Sheldon and Amy on this iconic piece of furniture. There are too many irretrievable memories that come up when I look at it.

And they don't fit on it.  Sheldon looks like he's sitting on kids furniture.

Alright we can ask Chuck, Bill and Steve if they can move it to Sheldon's old bedroom. :icon_cheesygrin:

Could of been avoided with Lenny just moving to 4B. And Amy taking Leonard's room. But Alas.

I do agree it is a tad disturbing seeing Shamy on Lenny's couch lol. Considering the deep history on that couch (gross). So maybe Lenny could take it. And Shamy go and buy a new couch or something.

I find it harder to believe Shamy just kept Penny's bed. This is very un-Sheldon-like, IMO. Why wouldn't he ask to exchange beds? Have his own bed and put Penny's in Lenny's spare bedroom.

Sheldon's bed was so small he couldn't fit in properly. It would have looked ridiculous if he and Amy slept on that bed. As for Penny's bed it's not difficult to buy a mattress so I imagine they did that.
