I don't know about nicer looking, but if memory serves me right, his own bed fits Sheldon better, doesn't it?

No, both Sheldon's old bed and Penny's are ridiculously short for Sheldon, probably for scene requirements, I guess a bigger bed doesn't fit the sets.

I find it harder to believe Shamy just kept Penny's bed. This is very un-Sheldon-like, IMO. Why wouldn't he ask to exchange beds? Have his own bed and put Penny's in Lenny's spare bedroom.

It gave Sheldon another opportunity at a barb at Penny and her past relationships.  He made a comment about memory foam and her bed.  The exact quote escapes me.....

That was so many months ago I assumed they'd bought a mattress  or even a bed of their own by now. An experiment for up to five weeks is different from making a home. Perhaps Penny's old couch will go to 4A soon. Look how long we thought the living arrangement was never going to change and then one morning, kaboom, we found the phrase 'Lenny in  4A, Shamy in 4B'  typed in the chatroom. We've adjusted to that situation easily enough, haven't we ? Or have we ?

Well we know it fitted Howard and Bernardette for ten minutes, but they are a lot smaller.

Well, this bed in his old room is not gonna survive Sheldon's puberty.:icon_cheesygrin:

I never understood why they gave him such a ridiculously short bed. Here the standard length for a mattress is 2m so it's just really really weird to me anyone would pick a shorter bed - especially when you're 1,86m tall to begin with. lol

Yes! As a Penny (and Leonard) addict, actually it kills my mood any time I have to see this. It's always difficult for me to let go of things and holy memories which it's already history...

He's just so tall for it. It's weird seeing Sheldon sitting there. And the bed seems to small for him.

It's simply a fact that Leonard's comment has more to back it up, than Sheldon's.

But the writers don't seem to actually keep track of any of that kind of thing.

Keep track of what? Cannon? Regardless Leonard and Penny are going to get pregnant at some stage. So why does it matter. Probably have Twins. One Smart, and one Beautiful.

I think it needs to go as well, but I'm kind of curious in terms of the thought process of Lennies and what would you do with it? Would you be happy to see it completely gone? Or is it seen as another iconic piece of furniture on the set and has to be seen somewhere?

I always thought that maybe if they actually had turned Sheldon's old room into a gaming room it could go in there as something for them to sit on. But with a child possibly on the way at some point  and if they actually have a child before the show ends I don't think that would happen, it would become a nursery and I don't think that couch would match it.

I think the discussion is fairly moot really as I have zero expectations that they will change it.

Burn it, gracefully retire it to the kerb for recycling or  put it in Howard’s garage. Anything but letting it sit there... taunting.

Seriously, why can’t Sheldon and Amy have their own stuff. How cheap are they?

Not counting the furniture, there is more of Sheldon and Amy's stuff in 4B then there is Leonard and Penny stuff in 4A.

And no, they will never ever change the furniture in the core standing sets. Never.

Absolutely true. It makes absolutely no difference to how they tell the stories. And hey, it’s only a temporary arrangement.  It does demonstrate that the show has, remarkably, run past its design life. Good for them. Not so much fun for the Nostalgics. But there would be no payback for a small tweak like that and the big tweak is Young Sheldon.

It only irks a tiny, tiny small part of the audience. Totally inconsequential :)... but with access to forums.

edit: but in the context of the in-show world Amy and Sheldon are maybe cheapskates. Not even changing the bed?  Where’s the commitment?

We don't know that they didn't buy a new mattress and box spring.  I have purchased a few sets in my lifetime, but kept my original headboard and frame,

They have replaced the linens and redecorated the bedroom.

And Sheldon came right back at him that they would be imaginary. Why put more credence in what Leonard said than Sheldon? Just curious at this comes up all the time.

Yes, there was no requirement for keeping track, just a straight question as to why some people give more credence to Leonard's comment, rather than Sheldon's.

But, my answer to that comment shows that the writers did keep track of it.  It appeared in the pilot, and, as I pointed out, it appeared again three years later.   If the writers weren't keeping track, they wouldn't have been able to reference it later.   So, evidently, they did keep track of it.

I'm drawing a blank, what was the reference later?

Glad to hear about the linens. Still thinking this is evidence the length of the run is greater than they expected and they are s t r e c h i n g it out until something actually breaks - but no refits. Not sure we’d ever see a post Shamy wedding life - or at least not soon or for long. Unless married Shamy trapped next to Leonard and Penny is in any way viable. How contorted would that be. There is no reason for Leonard and Penny not having already moved. The two married couples adjacent would be patently a contrivance.

So much the audience tolerates *sigh

Well, they had to keep track of it, to use it, to mock him, didn't they?   I mean, if they didn't know it had been used by Leonard before, as a comment on his infatuation for Penny, how could they mock him with it.   And note, that Raj was mocking him, but mocking Leonard for using the phrase.
