You're welcome, guys.

I'm not too keen on this elopement scenario but what I'm thinking is that, if the guy mentioned it, it must have come up somehow. We don't know if they actually go through with it or if the episode ends on some sort of cliffhanger and we find out in the next taping. Let's hope for the best.

So long as we get a nice wedding later with presents and bridesmaids and friends etc,  I don't mind if they've already had a Vegas-style  one at the Comic Center with a Spock Impersonator or dressed like the Ingalls family on a train.

I had some mixed feelings about him perhaps giving it up, because I want this wedding to be something that they are both happy with (I am sure they will be even if Amy takes more of a lead on it). But overall I was pretty proud of him in that moment, it was the right thing to do to take himself out of the situation especially if it ends up leading to stress. I thought it showed some major growth by him in that episode.

It might be my second favorite Sheldon moment of the season. The discussion he had with Amy on the couch when he says he is proud of her and he decides to go back to Pasadena so that she can have the spotlight and the attention is probably my clear personal favorite Sheldon moment so far.

I'm all about the growth and those moments when they show it lol.

For me, this was one case (the only case?) where Sheldon realised his own actions were harmful to himself. Usually he is not at all aware. And he understood that he was not all-knowing. Not sure if it’s just an aberration. Because being a dick (per Bernadette just this season) is his thing.  But I did feel his pain as genuine. And that never happens. So, a notable moment, for me.

Thank you so much @nusspot!

And @mirs1 I think you may be right, good call!

The elopment thing could be something that just came up and won't be followed through or something other people did, I can't see Sheldon getting married without his mother there.

Why not? Sheldon does love his Mother even if very Christian comments annoy him or doesn't agree with them.  Sheldon would want his Mother to be part of his big day.

If it's just an elopement wedding, it's not the big day. The big day would come later, as it did with the other two pairs.

Not saying that he doesn't love his mother or doesn't want her at his wedding or whatever. But there's been a surprisingly consistent string of arguments in the past along the lines of "Sheldon wouldn't do X because Mary!" and then the show went on and let him do X without even letting him wonder what she might think about it. So with that in mind I can totally see him eloping without her.

Do you think it's possible Young Sheldon might change that? I'm not really saying one way or another, but I do think it's possible (and believe I have seen it) that the audience/writers will be influenced by what they see from the prequel. They have highlighted the fact that Sheldon deeply loves his parents in a way I never really saw or took seriously on TBBT. I could see Sheldon eloping without his mother present messing up the emotional background they're trying to sell through stories of his childhood. Sadly, I think that makes it less likely he would even if it shouldn't factor in.

I'd be shocked if it was a Shamy elopement story.  They have laid down too many seeds that lead toward a full blown Amy Farrah Fowler planned wedding event.

They could easily have both. Lots of people do, including Lenny and Howardette.

Why? They eloped Lenny on a whim. After years of build up. So I would not be surprised if they do the same with Shamy.

And Howardette's proper do was postponed until after Howard came back from space. Bernie's mother wasn't even there. Apart from the 'clergy' and one relative each, there weren't even any guests.

I would hate it if it was all Amy . Its Sheldon's big day too isn't it ? Or is he just a placeholder ? Its Sheldon's wedding as much as it is Amy's. I would like atleast some reflection of Sheldon in the wedding as well.  I also think, that the perfect wedding doesn't really matter. What matters is the marriage- the  journey , the connection and the fun. That is something that is lacking  wrt to Shamy this season.

My reason for it is that he already talked to her about the wedding. She's expecting one she can attend. She has even agreed that it doesn't have to be in a church because she'll bring God with her, so to speak. I think it would be rotten to tease her like that and then not invite her.

UGH, I don't like the sound of that . The "men have no input in the wedding" gag is predictable but probably just a convenient way for the writers to keep Sheldon out of any further wedding planning . I hope Sheldon does have some input and the wedding  reflects who both of them are. But again, I am not one of those viewers who is really dying to see the wedding in the first place so either way.....

He was exhausted by the stress of simply trying to pick the perfect date, overthinking things as usual.  Amy gets Sheldon. Yes, she has childhood wedding dreams, but I don't think that she will discredit Sheldon's personality in the process.  I think that she will simply try to make it less stressful for him.  I really don't see a bridezilla Amy in the future.

I think it's fairly obvious that the man who teased "did they or didn't they elope" meant Sheldon and Amy. They're the only main characters who are engaged. I'm not saying it isn't possible that Raj or another character would, but it's unlikely that a casual fan who attended a taping would use that as their teaser if it was a storyline nobody was familiar with or introduced to. Since we saw two wine glasses and a bottle on Shamy's coffee table and Amy's birthday is in the next episode (whether they mention it or not), I'd say it's even more likely.

Also, he said "did they or didn't they?" and then "my lips are sealed". I'd bet money he would've given everything away if they actually went through with it and "didn't they" wouldn't have factored in unless they didn't. So my guess is they get drunk or carried away, opt to elope, and back out out the last minute.

Or it's a dream.

Bernie's mother was there for the roof wedding.   When the camera pulls out, you can see Bernie's mother and father at the bottom of the picture (Howard's mother is to the right.  Here's a screen grab of the pan out:

Wow ! What sharp eyes you have. I always wondered why her mother wasn't there. Glad to know she was. I've only ever noticed Howard's mother before.

Nor me. She got all that organising stuff out of her system when she was maid of honour.
