It was the ' We are in a relationship ' that spooked her. Will she or won't she realise they were ?

I don't think she's really what Raj needs.  OTOH what purpose did she serve if they're not going to have her turn up again ?

It kind of reminded me of that episode of The Good Doctor where the one character says something like they don't have a relationship- they have sex. Yes, I think she could turn up again. I am not sure if she is what Raj needs but she has potential in my opinion. He's too sentimental and she's too practical in a way. If they could meet half way, it would be challenging but for once in a long time Raj might be interesting.

there's an "Happy birthday" festoon...It's settled then, Halley's birthday party

Where do they have that many friends with small children to have that big of a party with a inflatable and all that? Or is the inflatable for Howard? Very strange to me.

The neighborhood they live in, her daycare, co workers with small children...but usually everyone has a 1st birthday for their child where the guests are mostly family and close friends.

Just another reason children shouldn't have been written into the show.

Yes, that is the case here, too. It's not like Halley will remember it. I've never seen them indicate that they even know the neighborhood people, or day care people, and her co workers were supposedly afraid of her because she was so mean, which was reinforced by Raj here, so it still puzzles me that they would shell out that kind of money, unless it was something Howard suggested. I can see him loving the idea of a bounce house.

I am so totally with you on this I wish I could like this comment a hundred times. Especially now that we will probably have two invisible children. If they were starting that now that Melissa is actually pregnant, with a season and a half to go it might have worked for me, but this just does not.

It's common for children's birthdays, even for little ones, to invite all the kids at their daycare and obviously their parents...that should make quite a party

I was thinking that, as a mid season finale surprise, they might revisit the invisibility thing. Quite difficult to make a party where you don't see the birthday  girl

I know. She already did the bridezilla bit when Bernadette got married. Is there really an interest to see it again? Hopefully the writers will make it the same size storyline as they did for Lenny.

It'll either be Bridezilla Amy or Groomzilla Sheldon. I'm guessing it will be Sheldon. Either way it's not a storyline I'm looking forward to.

Ruchi might turn up again and they may end up being 'buck fuddies' once again.

But I can't see it being endgame, not if she has taken or is trying to some of Bernie's work or job. Even if her views changed on relationships and matched his there would always be that factor lingering over it and Raj is so close to Bernie and Howard and is a godfather to Halley. It would always be too awkward.

But Raj IS always too awkward (IMO). :scratchhead:

I agree though I would be shocked to see them "buck fuddies". Though  I did enjoy seeing her "disrobed". I guess the eloping could only be Shamy now.

They didn't need to make it any clearer to me, it was heavily implied that was the kind of arrangement they had. They just meet up for sex.

When I first read this spoiler (thank you @Babar !!!) my thoughts are opposite with the bold part.

I went back and rewatched 409 because thay said it was a seven-year-old video,  and it was that episode when Penny's dad visited her and she and Leonard had to pretend that they were still happily together.

So my guess is at that time Penny realised that she loves Leonard more than she thought, but sadly they were not together then, and somehow she went back with Zack. Hence in 411, she and Zack were together, much to Leonard's surprise...and they went to the party dressing as Justice League. (BTW, I watched the movie today...)

So I'm not worried.

It is only wishful thinking on my part (in a fanfiction sort of way--which I hate everytime I see it here so, there's that....), but The Wheaton Recurrence (3.19) aired on April 12, 2010.  What if Penny stirs in the middle of the night, makes sure Leonard is fast and fully asleep and says "I love you too, Leonard.".....

I'm getting flashbacks to Emma's first birthday in "The One with the Cake," one of my favorite episodes from Friends. I, like others on here, thought that they might celebrate Halley's 1st birthday and these photos confirm that speculation. :)

It has already been a year? Really? If so, why isn't she walking? If she is, why haven't we seen her? Oh, I know! They're mixing TBBT with one of the guys' beloved fantasy franchises, since maybe Hallie is wearing Harry Potter's cloak of invisibility.

I still believe we won't see her even if she would be at the age now where they could have a child around that age without disrupting filming or affect pre-taped scenes. Partly because I believe their stance on it won't change and also because of Melissa.

I just wonder if they are throwing a party how involved Bernie is going to be?

I think TPTB screwed up with the baby situation. Since they had the baby its become sillier and sillier not to show her. I don't really want to get into the Friends comparison but IMO they handled it better.

Saying that though I think they could make the excuse of not showing Halley is to say that she, and the other kids?, are in the house with Bernadette.

But wouldn't it be so completely strange to have a birthday party and not see the birthday girl onscreen?

Aaaaand, speaking of birthday parties: Happy birthday @serena_1995 . I hope you have a fun filled day. All the best to you!

I think its restricts some storylines they can do and you can't downplay how much the actual physical interaction can add to scenes as well. But I get why they did it, its mainly a live taped show and having a real young baby could disrupt that. I know the actors also said they didn't want a baby on set, but I think that wasn't really a consideration by the powers that be. If they wanted a real life baby on the show it would have happened, the actors wouldn't have a say on it.

Howard's mother having that distinctive voice was a convenient way to show there was a baby on the show if you couldn't see her. But you can't repeat that gag for any of the other couples if they had a baby on the show which was born while the show had episodes still to film.

And you can't suddenly show one baby or child and not the others lol, it would be wrong and a silly decision.

I guess they could do that, but like @Carlos said for some it would feel strange that you won't see a child on her first birthday. But I think that's what we are going to get.

They don't have to show the actual party.    They could show the pre-party, were the gang is helping set up.  And then, after the party, where they are helping clean up.   Something like the party Penny threw for Leonard, back in season 1.

Personally, I couldn't care less about getting to see Halley. They use the joke with her off-screen voice sparingly enough that I'm not annoyed in the least by this so for all I care they can keep doing that until the end of the show. Idk what they'll do with her brother though so depending on what they decide and how well that works I might change my stance in the future. But for now I'm fine with the way they deal with that one baby. /shrugs

This could certainly be and kudos for actually checking the episodes! It's not that I'm conviced it will be negative in some way, I just think it's risky and could mess canon too much, I gave these examples as things that will mess canon too much for me.

That a very nice idea but Penny didn't know Zack then, I think the video is from after she met him.

While in essence I agree with you, it sort of gets stranger and stranger that the baby/babies is/are never seen, specially if one of them is already walking. While I really don't care to see either baby, it's puzzling why they would have not one but 2 baby story arcs if they don't plan to ever show either of them.

1) The only way around it that I see is to have the baby scenes pre-taped.

2) For me, at least, the just hearing the voice gag worked for Howard's mother, but doesn't work as well for Howard's daughter.

3) Indeed it would be, but at this stage I'm not putting it past TPTB

4) Wouldn't it?  But as you say I feel, as you do, that we wont get to see her.

I have slowly given up demanding rational decisions from the makers of our sitcom. Either the series is aging or I'm the one who has given up on the development mentioned above and has not given it any deeper meaning. I don't want to go into any further profound explanations, but I'm still looking for some fun.

I'm afraid, yes. :shy:
