You post is very confusing. Do you realize Hallie is not real, right, and is being played by an actor?

And they have shown Hallie several times, and we have heard her cry a few times. As I said already, babies can not be exposed to studio lights for too long, as it is not safe.

Do you want the baby actor to go blind?

I'm sorry but I do not understand what you find confusing about bfm's post. I find her post pretty clear and self-explanatory. Obviously all of us know that Hallie (or in this particular case Hallie's voice) is played by an actor. In regards to filming a baby (not in front of a live studio audience but in pre-taped scenes) I'm sure it can be done with no risk to the baby. I have seen plenty of babies in movies so in all honesty I don't know what you're talking about.

To end, let me just ask you what episodes you've actually seen Hallie in because while I've heard her (the actor portraying her voice), I don't remember ever having seen her in any episode.

I prefer not seeing a baby close up. All too often one gets a close up of a baby that is not really a newborn or the right age. Guess they will never please everyone.

So what we're saying now is that a team with the prestige, experience, knowledge and resources as the team that makes TBBT cannot get (and film) a baby of the appropriate age, physical attributes and appearance needed for the role? I find that hard to believe. TPTB are very experienced TV people, and I am sure they could pull it off if they wanted to .

OK, let's knock off the comments (and emojis)  directed at other members.   Everyone is well aware these are actors, playing a role, there is no need to remind them.    If one poster considers another poster taking the show too seriously, doesn't necessarily mean that that other poster is taking it too seriously, so you don't have to tell them.  And using the eye-rolling emoji, on another members opinion or post, is considered a negative comment.  So, it's best to use that on plot points or writer or producer comments, and not for comments by other members here.   Posts have been hidden and edited.

All I am saying is:

  1. I'm happy with the choice the writers made with regards to not showing the babies. Seems to fit TBBT to me.
  2. I'm sure they could pull it off if they wanted to but I have seen it done badly many times and heard my wife comment on this ad nauseum.

I'd also would have been happy if they had used an animatronic baby. Even CGI in the style of Ally McBeal could have been fun.

I really don't understand why it's so important that we must actually see any of the babies. It works totally fine for me that the babies are invisible because with a cast of seven people and a screen-time of just 18-19 minutes per episode every minutes counts and should be focused on the main cast.

Bingo! I concur with your deduction.

Yeah, I'm also team "I don't care about seeing the babies". We only see a glimpse of the gang's life anyway so I don't have a problem if the situations they chose don't have one of the kids in sight. They are still very present in the character's lives and so far I'm fine with how they worked around having a baby on set.

Agree with all of you. and this is not a 'Family Show" either.

So I guess we're having two invisible babies now...:icon_rolleyes: I get that it is much easier this way but to me it has become ridiculous. Feels like they're playing pretened (or in professional terms, makes it hard to suspend my disbelief).

I don't want to see any babies ever, so I'm loving it. But I can understand why not everyone feels that way.

I meant shots of a real baby, not just refering to the baby.

I agree that we've got something like 18 minutes of show now. I also don't want to waste time looking at the baby. The other characters need storylines, which they aren't getting as it is. I don't want them to take what time we have and look at the babies with it.

This show has always played on the fact its like 3D comic book characters. I have never seen this show as a Family Show. So it does not bother me we don't see babies on this show. I Find the baby noise riduclous and unorganic though.

Well, if I had to make a choice, I'd whether hear the baby than see it. But, I'd prefer to have neither happen though.

I've looked forward to meeting the Hofstadter babies since Season 1 and never thought they would be imaginary!  Seems to be a natural and happy outcome of love and marriage. To each his/her own.

Our babies ......jpg

I don't think anyone has  an issue with Lenny having babies obviously in series final near. Just the idea of babies onscreen in general. Some are not interested in.

I would love to see the Hofstedter’s have a baby and I think Kaley would do pregnant Penny  just hysterically funny- plus she would be interacting mostly with Leonard, Sheldon, and Amy so the dynamic would be different.  But,I just don’t see the writers wanting to do it except for the finale (whenever that is).

In regards to Howdette. Haven’t we already had the discussion on the show who should stay home if they had kids?

In NZ we have a 34 year old PM who is pregnant. And her partner well be a stay at home Dad. So all bets are of LOL. As for Howardette I Think we have covered this. I am pretty sure Howard and Bernadette would hire a Nanny. OR Raj or Stuart LOL.

I used to be glad thinking of seeing Leonard and Penny's babies has ruined that. I think all this crap with Halley has ruined it for me.

It's called character development.

Is it really? She hasn't impressed me with her mother skills. She's not as bad as Beverly, but then again who is that bad?

Wow, out of the eleven pictures, there is only one of Lenny.

So sad, but true.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of an overall story with babies in it, but since they've introduced them in it, I think we should see them however so briefly at least once so it doesn't seem so unrealistic. Just hearing Mrs. Wolowitz worked because she had a personality and jokes of her own, and a funny relationship with Howard and even with Stuart later, but Hallie , so far is just annoying to me.

The fact that other characters don't get stories has to do with babies, actually. In particular the show's obsession with the big baby. If they didn't focus so much on Sheldon perhaps we'd get a more balanced show.

I have to agree, there are way too many more better and interesting stories out there than just Sheldon. Almost every story line includes it's effect on Sheldon. Why is that? It's because the writers have Sheldon on the brain way too much!

There are so many ways TBBT is (has been) unrealistic and from my POV this is not one. The baby voice is unrealistic but that is part of the gag.

Example of unrealistic from the first season....

Quote

Sheldon: I read an article about Japanese scientists, who inserted DNA from luminous jellyfish into other animals, and I thought hey, fish nightlights.

Leonard: Fish nightlights.

Sheldon: It’s a billion dollar idea. Shhhhh!

Leonard: Mum’s the word. Sheldon, are you sure you don’t want to just apologise to Gablehauser and get your job back.

Sheldon: Oh, no, no, no. No, I’ve too much to do.

Leonard: Like luminous fish.

Sheldon: Shhhhh!
