I agree. Sheldon has done very well the past couple of years when taking big some big steps with Amy in their relationship...He was the one who did the reassuring of Amy during coitus 1, had no real problems with moving in with Amy and has in fact enjoyed living with her, was very calm during his proposal to Amy and has been very involved in the wedding planning, he was very calm when they almost got married at the JOP and in fact told her how lucky he was to find her and how much she meant to him. He will be fine when the actual wedding happens. I see him (and Amy as well) as very excited and very much looking forward to the big day, not running and hiding...

I could see an Amy freak out as opposed to Sheldon. Casuals will be expecting Sheldon to lose it.

What I don't understand is how some people want to condemn Leonard's treatment of Penny and then go on about how great Sheldon treats Amy.

IMO, those people do not base their opinions on reality, and are blinded by their biases. Sheldon has never treated Amy great by any stretch of the imagination, except maybe a little bit in the beginning. Leonard has made many mistakes, and is not perfect, but he has always treated Penny like a queen.

Amy wants very different things from a boyfriend/husband than the other women on the show do.

And that's fine. The problem is that Sheldon doesn't always want what Amy wants. As I see it Amy would want more (from Sheldon) if she could get it, but compromises.

She must be otherwise they wouldn't still be in a relationship.

I don't necessarily agree 100% with your previous post on the matter (Shamy relationship) but you do make some good points. In regards to the post I quoted I can say that Amy accepts them having sex once a year, but I honestly believe that she'd like to have sex more frequently if possible. (Waaaay more frequently, IMO)

I think people are setting the bar too high for the 250th Episode with too many hopes and expectations. It will probably just be a regular normal episode. Nothing special with no major guest stars.

It's sad that the wish of "a group episode for 250th" is considered "too high" for the show.

I totally agree with you.

TBH, I'd rather we get a regular normal one than the "special one" like the 200th episode.

I think they will throw in something to create tension before the ceremony. Otherwise, how will they make it a two-parter (which I expect)? If it's not Shedon and Amy or both getting nervous than it could be something with their families. As said, I can see Penny coming ang going but that won't be enough to stretch it she's not crucial for the ceremony, worst case scenario they have Bernie fill in for her.

Nah In  the end the writers wanted to get two weddings episodes out of it.

Damn writers spoil everything! But, sometimes they give us funny stuff.

I can hear Sheldon saying 'I do' in Klingon at the wedding.

Maybe Penny or Bernadette will shake there head and say OMG. Or Amy Do in her made up language.  :icon_cheesygrin:

And I would think most would think that to be boring

90% of what Shamy does is boring. That's who Sheldon is. Everything with him is drawn out and planned. There is no spur of the moment activities involving Sheldon.

Question : Do people really say 'I do' in American wedding ceremonies ?

I expect there are denominational variations. For example in a Roman Catholic wedding the bride and groom say their vows themselves. In my own case I memorized them and said them in full at the appropriate time. We had the option to repeat after the priest instead. Some denominations may simply say I do rather than repeating.

In my experience saying "I do" was the form taken at baptism and in that case it is said multiple times in response to baptismal vows. This is renewed at the Easter Vigil.

I think it depends on the ceremony. (It’s been a while since I’ve been to a wedding, so I’m ready to be corrected). If the officiant poses the question: “do you, Penny, take Leonard to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold...?” the party answers “I do.” (If he or she really does!!). The couple can also say the words in an oath, sometimes their own words and sometimes echoing or repeating the officiant “I, Penny take thee, Leonard, to be my lawfully wedded husband. In sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, to have and to hold...” (just a note: it was pretty cool and thrilling to type those words coming from Penny, even two years later!!!).

Help out with thoughts and comments. I’m throwing confetti re-celebrating Dr & Mrs Leonard Hofstadter!!!❤️❤️❤️

I keep thinking back to when he was Christmas shopping with Bernadette and explaining why he loved Amy.That was VERY well done.

It was indeed, especially as he was shopping in order to wrongfoot her and make her feel uncomfortable.

That was so sweet. But, you then have to get past the why he bought her the Christmas present. That was both silly, childish and showed his true character. He couldn't just enjoy the holiday with Amy, he had to try to teach her a lesson. Like he did with Leonard with that god-awful sweater. Only this time it back fired on him.

And I just loved to read them. Writers should have asked us  for help in some characters important events.  They would turn out better :)

Some fanfic writers got some things better than the show writers, IMO. There are some great talent among the BBT fandom.
