We have all been watching this series for a long time. We like what we like and it is not necessarily going to be the same for me and you. The cast has earned big fat paychecks not earned time slots on any given episode.

Whatever makes you happy. I just disagree with you.

The parents and brother, Christopher Lloyd, Newhart making another appearance, Raj's love triangle earlier with two guest stars.

Actually I really enjoyed seeing Christopher Lloyd, Newheart, and Judd Hirsch. Guess nostalgia plays a roll for an old guy like me. I'd love to see Mark Hamill in an episode.

I like Newhart a lot, but I thought his most recent appearance was his weakest one.

It's fine if people enjoyed those guest appearances, they just didn't do much for me personally.

I have loved Bob Newhart as Sheldon's Obi-Wan.

James Earl Jones was a highlight of the series.

I often enjoy Beverly, Mary, Wil, Barry and Bert.

It was fun to see Elon Musk and Steve Wozniak. It was kind of cool to have Stephen Hawking on the series.

Sometimes they squander the opportunities with the guests. What they did with Nathan Fillion was a big disappointment.

All of these are just opinions, and while I respect yours, I don't agree will all of your choices:

I liked Professor Proton a little bit, could have done without Obi-Wan Newhart.

IMO, James Earl Jones's appearance was pathetic even if I loved him as the voice or Darth Vader. (Full disclosure I like Star Wars and I like all the movies except for episodes 1,2,and 3 but who loves those)

I liked Steve Wozniak because his appearance was short and sweet, and Stephen Hawking is usually OK.

Agree with you on Beverly, Mary, Barry and Bert (this last one in very small doses). Wil  can be great if they write something good for him which is not always the case (as when he played with Sheldon and his train - aaargghhhhh-)

Besides Nathan Fillion I hated the actress who played Meemah, absolutely hated her (in the role) and was a terrible miscast as was Penny's brother (IMO). Also hated Christopher LLoyd.

As you can see we all have different preferences. I don't think (in general) that guest stars add to the intrinsic quality of TBBT even if they are needed on some occasions.

The show's ending. The writers seem to have thrown in the towel. Wasting time planning a wedding when none was done for the other weddings and they were just as important. Guest take air time from the other 5 cast members, as Sheldon and Amy will obviously have their time. The entire cast has earned the time to have longer air time, not just Sheldon and Amy. Variety is definitely not needed by guests, just the cast. They're being paid good money to be in the episodes, let them earn it.

This is true  I can remember a couple of episodes where Penny was in only two scenes and had about 15 lines of dialogue.  WB and CBS could not have been happy to pay her salary those weeks.  Also, didn't someone report on a taping not too long ago that Penny was not in any scenes on taping day but all her scenes were pre-taped.  Cannot believe she was too happy about that.

I’m guessing she is happy with the salary

I loved the Billy Bob Thornton episode. I thought he was hilarious. One of my favorite episodes for sure!

Some of those are in it so often they seem like regulars and I don't think of them as guests. I didn't know we'd had Steve Wozniak.

Same here! The "One Mississipi, two Mississipi, ...." strategy for getting romance, lol!Billy was hilarious in his interactions with all characters. Epic! :icon_cheesygrin:the-big-bang-theory-The-Misinterpretation-Agitation.gif.383fc8677c138e6e8e4c7c1fb74bcf12.gif

Then there are actual uber geeks who outdo Sheldon but could never appear on TBBT.  Found a "clean" example of Linus Torvalds who changed the world with the invention of the Linux kernel and the Git distributed version control system.;

and less clean example of Linus speaking his mind...

Bob Newheart and Judd Hirsch has done amazing work on TBBT. Christopher Lloyd didnt enjoy too much. Probably because that episode sucked and was so ridiculous and useless. Love Christopher Lloyd, just not in that episode.

Some sure fell in love with Amy and the idea of her being ~the one~ for Sheldon right away so that's not the issue for me.

Yeah, but even those people would be wrong in having been waiting before Shamy was actually Shamy.

Not to mention that they didn't get to be Shamy till later , so that would be season 4. So... yeah they can't count.

I think you are right . Being “soulmates” and being in love doesn’t necessarily mean a "wedding" . But mainstream conventional audiences would automatically assume that marriage/wedding will happen someday whenever a new love interest is introduced. Probably  that is why Holland said that. But in case of Shamy , Amy wasn’t a main character in season 4, and they were initially written as friends /intellectual companions who were somewhat attracted to each other- but their relationship was undefined and not “labelled” as anything.  I think the idea of proposal-engagement-marriage was introduced later, during (and after) season 6 when Shamy became much more conventional.

I have mixed feelings about that episode. His character was  rapey, creepy and stalkerish.  i hope we weren't supposed to feel bad for him.:icon_biggrin:

Has Shamy ever been considered conventional? Even now being engaged and boring us with their wedding planning, I still won't or can't say that they are conventional.

I'm not bored.

I totally agree. They actually did things, though. Like I said with Mrs. Gunderson...she was funny and memorable. Adam Nimoy was fun to see and Leonard's dad was well cast so i liked him.  I can't wait to see the Bill Gates episode.

They seem to be conventional now. Planning a wedding. Talking about children. What made them unique is now gone.

I think it is a good thing they are not completely conventional, though they  keep a balance and somethings need to be "normalized"  .  They are  unconventional , but my point was, they are  still more conventional now (empirically)  compared to when Amy was introduced. Also, I think the "scientific wedding planning"  has more potential for humor/plots than something a typical couple would do on a sitcom. So , on the contrary, it is actually less boring to me.

Not me!

In other words one stupid idea was followed by another stupid idea. You would think he would be smart enough to learn from his mistakes. Then again he also did manage to alienate an entire group of shippers.

Steve Holland, Molaro, Prady, Lorre, etc, etc, etc what they have done to TBBT is unconscionable. It is truly very, very sad from an overall story point of view what they have been doing from about S6 or S7 up until now. It is as if they don't really know what to do or write anymore. Some episodes are individually funny, others can have 1 or 2 touching moments but the quality of the writing is currently  abysmal, IMO. I think the problem they are all having (writers in general, and some actors in particular) is that they keep on throwing money at them to continue, and very few people can say no to that, integrity be dammed.

I am not a big fan of wedding planning story lines but it is hardly jumping the shark. Two babies is not out of the norm either.

On a show like TBBT babies are. People like to compare Friends to TBBT but Friends was set up for the possibility of kids and cold fit into the show. On TBBT there basically throw away lines. As to wedding planning for Shamy it's done for ratings unlike Howdette's. That would constitute jumping the shark.
