I don't know anyone who wants to have kids for the wholesome experience of changing diapers and sleepless nights. lol Ironically enough one of the most common tips for successfully dealing with babies is putting them on a regular schedule which is something that Shamy would probably feel they can manage better than anybody. Especially Sheldon would be so into that. haha So true and those reasons can change over time as well. Sheldon's reason back then seven years ago I don't think is the same now. I think if they have children at some point it's because they want them and love them no matter what, I think that would be clear as day if you saw them become parents. As I have stated before I don't think we will get to see that, it's too late in the show.
Carlos
14 hours ago, Capt. Hilts said: The show has shown that Leonard will do Anything for sex, which we expect of Howard, but Leonard has been depicted as just as opportunistic. The North Korean spy, the elderly donor, Raj's sister [broke a promise], Howard's date the night she had a date with Howard, etc. In real life the latter two are often relationship breakers. Leonard is living the Geeky Guy Fantasy on behalf of the writers and many viewers. Challenge that at your peril! No it hasn't. You are presenting things in a way that appear to make your point. However: 1) In the case of the North Korean spy, Leonard didn't have to do anything to "get it". She was trying to trick him into divulging secrets after they had had sex, so ... 2) The elderly donor gave herself up to him. Why wouldn't he take the opportunity? Again it's not as if he was required to do anything for sex , so it isn't a good example either. 3) In the case of Priya he broke a promise to Raj, but it was never up to Raj, it was up to Priya and Leonard and if you remember correctly she initiated (as seen on the show). 4) In the case of Dr, Stephanie, what did he have to do for sex? Nothing. They hooked up and they were both willing participants. He even tried to resist a little bit, and asked her if Howard had any chance with her and she answered no. 5) As you can see from my refuting of your examples, Leonard didn't actually have to do anything for sex in none of the cases you cited. These opportunities just fell on his lap (so to speak). He just didn't say no. It is different from Howard because he used to look for the opportunities and try to force them. Not the case here. Btw, you forgot Dr. Plimton, even if, again he didn't have to do anything to get it except for just being there.

I think the reason is still basically the same in that he thinks by combining his and Amy's genes their kids will be amazing. And I don't see how that's much different from what most people think when they plan for babies. Is anybody wishing for babies cause they hope they'll mess this up somehow? I wouldn't think so. When you plan for kids you've at least had a look at what's in the cards and think "yup, I can do that!" If you actually can is of course something you'll only find out once the little bundle of joy is in your life. And I agree, I would have loved to see Shamy dealing with the reality of parenthood but I don't think we will get that either unless there's a flash forward episode or something giving us a glimpse into the future. 3ku11
I Think their is a double standard with Penny being called a slut and Leonard being almost a player or a ladies man. I mean he is always refered to as the mackdaddy of the guys. But I don't think it is fair to call him a sexual oppurtunist. He has never been portrayed as the typical "nerd". IS their something wrong with having sex now? Is it illegal? No. Is it wrong for Leonard to take advantage of a circumstance to lead to sex? No not at all. Some are acting like he is being sleazy. That was Howard. And currently I am not sure why were even dredging up these old discussions from Season 2. Leonard is a married man, Howard is a married man also with two kids. 3ku11
Shamy lost their uniqueness personally when they cohabitated and consumated their relationship. I don't ship them nor am I invested in their relationship. But that is just my point of view. I also think it is unfair to say Leonard would do anything for sex. So Would Penny. A Double Standard only exists because different standards are not coagulated.

Becoming a parent changes someone, you can't be perfectly "ready" for it. No matter what you deal with personally, from the moment your baby is born, you put him/her first. Now this is ofcourse a tv comedy show, so things will go wrong in a funny way, but Shamy will make amazing parents.

I agree with your whole post. Sheldon and Amy (especially Sheldon) are likely in for a shocker when they realize that the combination of two very smart people genes don't necessarily mean they will produce an extraordinarily intelligent person or even a smart one for that matter. The Kids could turn out to be like Sheldon brother. You think two smart scientist like them would know that Parents who are very smart or highly intelligent can produce Kids who are dumb as a rock while Parents who are dumb as a rock can produce highly intelligent and very smart Kids. It does happen. I like to see a flash forward scene where I turn out that Leonard Son(or even Harward!) is a highly intelligent revered scientist/Princeton professor while Sheldon Son is dumb as a rock drug addict and is serving time in prison. I can see where having parents like Amy and Sheldon could mess a kid up Edited March 22, 2018 by MTBigBangTheoryFan

vonmar
From Deadline Hollywood ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Sets Jerry O’Connell To Play Sheldon’s Brother – PaleyFest During the Big Bang Theory panel at PaleyFest, Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, and Kunal Nayyar were joined on stage by show producers Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, Steve Holland, and Bill Prady. The biggest talking points were the forthcoming Bill Gates episode, remembering Stephen Hawking and the addition of Jerry O’Connell to the cast as Sheldon’s brother, Georgie. <full article in the link> Edited March 22, 2018 by vonmar

Perhaps a retired one the neighbours think is a housekeeper (but is in reality more like a keeper for Sheldon) I can't see Shamy being absent. Because obviously Sheldon is the only one involved in the wedding. They pretty much confirmed all his family will be there, but what about Amy's? Nobody knows. I'm hoping it's because they don't want to reveal anything and keep it a surprise but perhaps that's being too optimistic. Amy is my favorite character by far, I want to see her parents at the wedding because it's right they should be there and the added bonus of help fleshing out her character and her backstory a bit more which she so absolutely deserves. Happy for those that want to see Georgie and Missy but I honestly don't give a shit about seeing them. Edited March 22, 2018 by Jonny

I liked when Bill Prady finally explained why they chose that name for Amy (after the rest of the producers also pretended not to hear that question). Holland couldn't even remember whether or not she was "just Amy" the first time she appeared on the show. Probably the iconic "Excuse me, I'm Amy Farrah Fowler, you're Sheldon Cooper." isn't that iconic for the showrunner of this show. The rest is pretty much forgettable, at least for me. But I know that different people like different things. So I'm glad if the rest of the forum enjoyed it. ☺ Edited March 22, 2018 by nusspot
3ku11
The actors woulden't know about spoilers anyway. Unless the writers told them. They don't write the show. Like Jim said their role is to take the contribution form the writers. I don't think the show thinks Amy's parents are that important. Sheldons family seems more of a precedence. End of the day Amy is a supporting character. That is just the way it is. Same with Bernadette she is supporting Howard. veejay
Sorry @nusspot, I meant no harm with my spontanious insert. I was still under the impression of the panel, which was very enjoyable for me. It showed me just the refreshing solidarity of the "troupe" around my favourite comedy series and verified me again why I still like watching TBBT.
