[Spoilers] Season 11 Discussion Thread

I posted this in the Shamy thread, but thought I'd share it here, too, because I think some may be getting the wrong idea. I'm not directing this towards anyone. Please bear in mind that some of these scenes were so quick that I can't recall certain, minute details, and that everything plays out differently on-screen.

Yes, Sheldon only stays for a day or two, because he acknowledges that she needs to be the center of attention there more or less. Amy says that he wants to go home because he knows everyone falls all over him there. Also, it was very important for Amy that Sheldon asked her dad's permission. He tells her about speaking with Hawking, and she's like, really? Not my dad? And, he says that he asked her dad, and her face lights up.

I thought Sheldon called Leonard, not the other way around. So much was happening that my mind is foggy here. Basically, Amy didn't give her proper answer because Sheldon was on the phone. Then, he asks, and says she said yes to P/L, who are on speaker with him in 4A.

I actually find that sweeter than if he'd brought her cake and balloons because it was their anniversary. He did it because he wanted to make her feel good, not because the calendar told him he had to

Kind of sad and pathetic that the writers have to rehash another Howdette pregnancy. Too lazy to do some actual writing. The show looks like it needs some hospice care.

People seem to think it's a sign that they aren't committed to each other when they don't remember stuff like that or that it in some way de-values their relationship. The fact they both couldn't remember it a ditzy (I think that is the right word?) kind of way is clearly there for joke purposes.

Anniversary or not I say it's a good sign that he can read his wife and perhaps do something nice for her.

I think they would have never done that if it wasn't for Melissa's real life pregnancy.

I definitely agree with your last sentence and I love his gesture but it feels unlike Leonard to forget that.

Yeah, if it was rare occasion when they did something like that, I could see a joke purpose. But the writers continuously denigrate the Lenny relationship, in what I consider a mean way, for joke purposes.  Over the last three years, it has gotten tiresome.

Shamy having a baby is a terrible idea. TBBT already has one dysfunctional, irresponsible shirker of a parent, (Howard). Half the time Sheldon is a baby and Amy serves as his fill-in mother.  Bringing a baby into the world of Sheldon Cooper would be the ultimate in irresponsibility. No child should have Sheldon the over sized toddler as a parent.

I think that as well.

IMHO the whole point of this is to deal with Melissa's baby bump in the most convenient way. Which is also why I find the idea of Bernie losing or aborting the fetus a bit out of place cause in the end the film crew would have to deal with the inconvenience of filming around Melissa's growing very real baby bump. Had they wanted to do the whole "awkwardly hiding behind big objects" route they would have done that from the start and not wrap it in a miscarriage / abortion plotline.

They just LOVE to stamp all over us Lenny fans. I can already see a Jessica Rudloff review saying how doomed they are (before anybody misinterprets I don't mean her reviews matter much, just that the writers feed claims like these). Yay.

A mention of Amy's dad! That's interesting! I wish we learn more about him this season.

I agree completely with what you say about Lenny. I however am not that enthused about TPTB writing Melissa's pregnancy in. If they have a boy and call him Neil while Amy might say that it is because Howard's love of Neil Diamond, Sheldon might think it's because of Neil De Grasse Tyson. Oh, btw I sort of despise the mention of Amy's dad. Another new character that has nothing to do with the Lenny story? Yayyyy !!!!!

To be fair, TBBT isn't just about Lenny there are seven people in the cast.

Of course it's not, but I think you'll agree with my pointing out of the fact that the introduction of another tertiary character will eat up an already realty diminished Lenny screen time.

My biggest concern with this pregnancy is that we had the same plot in season 10, people could easily get bored with this plot and start losing interest in TBBT.

I totally agree with you, but also if TPTB planned their episodes a little bit better than we could have both Lenny and Shamy screen time.

I don't think there is any chance TPTB would go for any sort of loss of the new Wolowitz spawn (always wanted to use spawn in a sentence!!).  I believe they will give her a difficult pregnancy or a very big scare with a healthy brother the result for Halley....
