As far as I know, no one was interested in Penny's sister or Leonard's brother and sister. There was a question about why Meemaw, who is very important to Sheldon, is not at the wedding.

No one on the forum cared as well. So now there's a question almost two years later. Great timing. I wonder if the writers will go back 2 years and give us an answer to this question? They're good at going back and messing with things.

Yeah I think it's hilarious. Sounds like a funny Penny storyline with her not getting sick and she's laughing about it and you just know that trademark snark of hers is going to be on point.

It would have been great if they would have aged Ms. Potts with makeup and had her at the wedding.

Really I don't either. It doesn't matter who played Meemaw in that episode, it would have ended the same. But, with that said, I do like Annie Potts.

With all due respect, Ms. O'Donnell was on air for under a minute and really had no chance to "play" Amy's mother. Kathy Bates and her acting history seems (to me) to be the perfect choice to play Mrs. Fowler and her seemingly autocratic raising of Amy.  Sorry, but I am looking forward to Ms. Bates playing that role. Much more than I would if Ms. O'Donnell were playing it....

 (btw, is Amy's last name "Fowler" or "Farrah-Fowler"?  Is Farrah just a middle name or is it part of her last name.  Is it hyphenated?  Was Farrah her mother's maiden name?  I've always wondered.....)

I don’t “like” the link but if they play it right as a TBBT fan I should hardly notice except for promos.  I do worry that Sheldon’s siblings are suddenly going to show up again.  Why would any fan of either show care if his sister is divorced or pregnant.  So why bring it up in the wedding episodes.  That does worry me.

We only saw Annie O'Donnell play the part of Amy Mother for like 2 Minutes over skype.  She didn't say much and only had a few lines.

 

And besides s I pointed out before It could be that they were not available, are not acting anymore or just didn't want to make another appearance on the show. Sometimes it the Actor not the  Producers. In this case, recasting doesn't bother me.

I have always seen written in tbbt sources I know "Amy Farrah Fowler" 

If I am not wrong( surely someone will correct me if I am) , Farrah is likely to be Amy's mother's maiden name.

Yes. That could have been something. On the other hand they got Mark Hamill so who really cares about having Memaw. Memaw would have been upstaged.

If they promote having Mark Hamill it should impact the ratings in a way that Memaw would not. I will be dumb struck if they miss the opportunity to promote this. Can't you feel the tremor in the force?

Fowler is her surname, see the episode at City Hall earlier this season when they said they will walk out after getting married as Dr Cooper and Dr Fowler.

I suspect Farrah is actually her middle name but it could be her Mother's maiden name as well I guess.

Farrah is her middle name, Fowler her last name. After all she's addressed as Dr. Fowler not Dr. Farrah-Fowler. At PaleyFest they said Chuck Lorre picked it cause of the rhythm.

ETA:

Amy because it means beloved.

Farrah because it makes a nice rhythm.

Fowler because it's a surname that derives from a profession and thus fits with Cooper.

I myself asked the question in the forum at the time... I don't expect an answer and I'm not saying it's just the same as Meemaw, just pointed out a similar event.

I never said she would. Just that she is a larger star and that's the path the show took.

The thing is if the show was in it's prime you wouldn't need her. The same goes with Mark Hamill.  I don't disagree with your assessment of Kathy Bates. But aren't the characters on the show "the stars"?

TBBT had used prominent guest star since it's beginning through it's peak and up to now. I suspect they will continue this in season 12 as well.

Then Professor Proton should have been played by Norman Noname. Or Wil Weaton could have been played by Bill Barleycorn. Big name guest stars are a thing. You use them during sweeps.
