The two of them are why I watch YS.  I don't care about the kid, but those two are great.  And Georgie is good, too.  The whole cast is, actually. The part I don't really care about is...Sheldon.  He's fine, but not why I watch.

I see people rave about Missy more than anybody else on social media. Obviously social media represents in reality only a small part of the audience.

So... Holland said in an interview (TVline?) that there are things many ask about that will be resolved/explained in the last season and some that will remain a mystery. Anybody in for speculating what he was referring to? I can think of these:

Penny's maiden name - I'm willing to bet this is one of the things he was talking about. Not sure though if they want to reveal it or leave it a mystery.

Howard's father - Another thing I'm quite sure is included in this category.

Other things I'm not sure... Maybe tenure, Leslie Winkle seemingly disappearing (yes she suddenly appeared in Sheldon's birthday but that was one time and also OOC), Penny's sister, the elevator never being fixed... But beside the elevator these are minor things I'm not sure TPTB remember or are asked about.

Now when Penny is happily married, I don't really see the point in revealing her maiden name so I'm guessing this will be a mystery.

Tenure is a another thing I think we will never hear about again. It has nearly gone six years since this episode aired, and we still hasn't heard a thing about it.

I do think that there is a possibility that the elevator actually can be fixed sometime in the last season of the series.

I highly doubt that we will ever see Penny's sister to be honest. If she couldn't attend Penny's wedding why bother showing up now. (yes, perhaps if Lenny make a roadtrip to Nebraska(highly doubt that) we could perhaps meet her)

Just because it's an old film, doesn't mean it isn't a good one.

Star Wars is over 40 years old (Pretty In Pink is only 32 years old), so is Star Wars not a good film?

I don't know about Pretty in Pink, Never watched it and never intend to watch it. Star Wars, I went to the movies in San Francisco when it came out. Really enjoyed it as well as the next two. Didn't care too much for Episode 1, The Phantom Menace, 2 and 3 were enjoyable. So I enjoyed watching 5 out of the first 6 Star Wars movies. The new ones, I haven't seen and don't intend to see them.

I actually never said it was not good. I just think Ghostbusters is more relevant to TBBT and YS with references

edit

After some searching I did find a little reference to Pretty in Pink (of course it is Raj talking). From 8.08

Quote

Howard: She and Amy are out dress shopping for their prom thing.

Raj: Oh, yeah, I got that Evite. Ever since I saw Pretty in Pink, I’ve wanted to go to an American prom. But then I saw Carrie, and I did not want to go to an American prom. But then I saw Never Been Kissed, and I’m back on the prom bandwagon. This prom thing’s been a real roller coaster.

Penny has her own identity outside of Leonard. She deserves a last name of her own to be revealed atleast . I wouldn't mind if they reveal it.

11 years and counting. Don't expect them revealing the show's most guarded secret.

Penny has a last name and it is Hofstadter, nothing strange with that.

I am in the camp that they won't. But I may be biased since I couldn't care less if I tried what it was. I doubt if the showrunners even give a thought to this anymore.

I am in that camp too. Primarily because there is nothing to be gained by a reveal now. Might as well keep the mystery.

Unless they fix the elevator!

Maybe next season sheldons dad will come back in a sheldon dream and explain to him that he actually had a good childhood

But even better would be to have Dr.  Sturgis come to grown up Seldon in a dream... (not inconceivable?)

Wonder if he'll be the George Sr that he remembers or the George Sr that YS wants us to believe he is really.

Oh god help us. Hopefully we've seen the end of YS cast in TBBT.

They've been asked about it a lot over the years, that's why I think this is one of the things Holland was talking about. Will they reveal it? I don't know, maybe if they find a way to make ot funny.

The things I know the writers have been asked about a lot are Penny's maiden name, Howard's father and the elevator. Anybody remembers something else?

I would think he will be from ys since they seem to be pushing that and it seems to be their future

As I said, oh god help us. Just what we need is YS cast members coming on TBBT and changing history with their after the fact knowledge.

So in countries with British roots when a woman marries she changes her father's name for her husband's name unless she decides otherwise. It's only a cultural thing. Unless someone outside Penny's family needs to address one of her parents, there's no need to bring it up. Mothers' maiden names go on birth certificates when they have children so it may be mentioned if the 'smart and beautiful' babies arrive and Leonard goes to register them. We might also learn Penny's full name, eg if it's Penelope, at the same time.

If you believe sheldon his dad was a mean drunk. The ys version seems a lot nicer or better

There's time yet. Sheldon is only nine or ten. George has a few more years to live. He's had one heart attack already. He may have a stroke or something and change personality.

I don't think that would be mentioned even then. Because as of now she is Penny Hofstadter.
